Christine I suppose pottering is some form of resting..but its a shame you dint get more sleep..I remember you telling us about the blackbird..that would be nice if there family is visiting you..glad to hear your dad is happy..has for the garden they always say on the TV make a plan..but I never have ...so its a bit of a mess...
Joan my foot is easing with the ice but have to keep it up..you enjoy your swimming...
bubbles..its sounds idyllic were you live, the only woodpecker I have seen wear in a neighbours garden across the rd..would love one in ours...must say the sparrow are increasing..and the pigeons... I hope the burns aren't to bad..I just wish my OH could cook..he does have a go though bless him..did you save us some lemon drizzle... :)
Elizabeth its hard to tell yet it feels stronger..but with this back pain its so hard to know what is what...but at least I am limping less.. :) I hope Dan has a lovely time away..it will give him more confidence..and like you say you a rest...
Kath sciatic pain is so hard to control, I am told that the ops they will do on my back could resolve this..but also could end up in a wheelchair..think if it was my first op I might have given it a go..but not now..I hope the scan goes ok and the results are good..
Hope Toni's neck has eased for her..x
Had a potter at the garden center..not for long I am so tired..suppose its early days..I wouldn't care but I used there scooters.. :o
tea and cake I think..sorry but they are hotcross buns again I am hooked...

Afternoon all....I have emerged from under the trolley Bubbles

    k050.gif

I think I may have overdone it!!!

I think I have turned the corner now and will try to 'pace myself' from now on. I just took advantage of having Tia home.

Sounds like loads has happened while I have been AWOL.

Joan swimming, Barbara's poor foot improving, Kath definitely has sciatica (ya boo :( ), Elizabeth's Dan off to Devon :) and her Lucy much happier in school (good news!), hope the new meds help - fingers crossed. Holiday was lovely ta :)

    Toady is still missing :(

Christine - keep out of the loft - it's bad for you!!!

I have been veggie since I was 18....still am though I will eat fish sometimes.

    Love to you all

    Toni XXX

Have popped macaroni cheese in oven so off for another lie-down now.

Bubbles, you be careful in the kitchen. Hope your burns aren't too bad. I'm beginning to think you like cakes. Would I be right?

Joan, yes the time does fly when I am gardening. Hope you enjoyed your swim.

Kath, I hope you don't have to wait long to get some physio now.

Elizabeth, I remember you telling us about Dan going away last year. if I remember rightly, he did enjoy it. Good that Lucy is more relaxed. Hope you are getting some relaxation.

Barbara, I did have a better sleep last night. I made the plan of the garden because every year I notice something I want to move but have to wait till it finishes flowering but then it disappears and I forget till next year. I'm hoping the plan will remind me where they are. Some hope of that. It's good that you are getting out to the garden centre. It is still early days. Won't be long before things improve. Oh, hot cross buns. Must see if I can get some tomorrow.

Toni, hope you are feeling better now. Do take care and try not to overdo things. Difficult I know. Ok I'll just leave the loft. I don't really use anything up there apart from the Xmas decorations.

How many bottles of shampoo/conditioner/shower gel do you have in your shower area? I counted my boss's wife's. 47 bottles. She's the only one who uses that shower. :? Finished module 9 of my course. Only 2 more to go.

Evening to everyone, duly assembled in the lovely cafe.

I thought the wheels where stuck Toni, not knowing that you were hiding. Good to see you back and pacing yourself. Says me and many more, who all do too much or things that we know will cause trouble. Hope things continue to improve for you.

Cakes, do I like them, well, just a bit Christine. Not the over iced sickly ones, I do prefer scones and butter, or, if needs be, a double chocolate muffin or lemon cake.

Glad that transport was finally sorted Elizabeth, there is always something, right at the last minute. Let's hope a great time is had.

We had a day out with in laws, OH pushed me around in a wheelchair, ( one of the stores), until I fidgeted so much I was put in the cafe, lol. It was too low and not wide enough. I sat in cafe with Mum in L and had THE most horrid coffee I have tasted in years. It was like ditch water, but with less taste. I refused to sit at various tables, as they needed a damned good scrub. Anyway, we won't be going back and there was no way I was going to eat a crumb.
We stopped at a nice farm shop that we have been to a few times now and had lunch, even their coffee was poor, I had to have an extra espresso just to get a hint of coffee.
    I am officially a coffee snob. :D
So, tomorrow, well, today now, we are going to Ner**, one that we know and frequent often, to have the biggest strongest coffee I can handle. Boy am I looking forward to it as well. I will be forced to eat a veggie panini and a double chocolate muffin., but I will cope.
My burns are healing well and I am not going near steaming pans again.

Potter time, medicine trolley is all stocked up. It is cold tonight, sunshine for the next couple of days, which will be nice.
    Take lots of care.

bubbles I know what you mean about coffee..coffee and tea come to that..we try and search places out..if it bad we never go back..I think this is why the coffee house do so well they get it right..and M&*I am the same with wheelchairs some are horrid,,the worse one we had was in Spain.. you enjoy today..and have that cake on me.. :)
Christine..how on earth does she use all those shampoos..I have a few to try and find a good one for thinning hair..but I think there are 3 in my bathroom..you garden will look lovely hope you can get some help with it..I still think the M&* buns are the best..the luxury ones..but they haven't had them in. :( ..Toni glad the neck is feeling a little better..now dont go doing anything to spark it off again..wonder when the move will be..its exciting a fresh start...
Not a good night..sleeping on this back..its very scary when I wake up..probably 3 or 4 times a night..and my legs dont work properly..so its making this back much worse..hopefully next week I can sleep on my side..luxury... :D tomorrow is my last injections...so getting there..
Like Toni say I still think of Toady..she knows we are hear when needed..and the others that are missing..xxxx

Forgot to mention the half an inch is height. I need to lose more than that in width.

I'm now downloading Clare Baldings 'Ramblings' from the radio. One episode is about nordic walking in Nottinghamshire for a group of young disabled people. Sounds really good.

Elizabeth, my rheumy has mentioned Ritux for me. Don't really want it though. 6 hour infusions! :? Hope it works for you though.

Barbara - oh dear. I hope your ops don't put you in a wheelchair. I had a morning in one at the hospital. Wouldn't mind it for a very short period, but I'm longing to go for a nice walk.

Toni, mmmmm, macaroni cheese. I love it but OH doesn't. See if there is anything you fancy on this week's menu.

    Scrambled omelette toast topper
    One-pan summer eggs
Flash-fried smoked salmon & egg bagel
Full English frittata with smoky beans
    Smoked salmon & mascarpone tortilla
Open mackerel sandwich with fennel slaw
    Open chicken Caesar sandwich
Open sandwiches - Smoked salmon & avocado on rye
Open cottage cheese & pepper sandwich
    Salmon & chive bagel topper
Mexican chicken stew with quinoa & beans
Miso prawn skewers with veggie rice salad
15-minute noodle supperSoy & ginger salmon with soba noodles
Miso brown rice & chicken salad

Never heard of scrambled omelette, but think I'll try it. I just love eggs. :D

A sunny afternoon to one and all, :deckchair: It has been a glorious day, with more forecast for tomorrow.

Joan, lol, I can only imagine that ditch water tastes like the manky "coffee" I had. I should have had a fit and dumped it back on the counter. ( I did fall into a ditch once  but that's a long time ago and a long story )

The menu looks wonderful and I think I will start with the salmon and chive bagel, before I hit the mackerel, it all sounds yummy. Nordic walking in Notts, wonder where that is? My home town, did all my growing up and training in Nottm.

Hope things are going ok Toni, all very stressful moving and doing, just take care.

Bet you cannot wait to lay on your side Barbara, one more jab to go, hoorah. Then some support for your knees and you can sleep sideways. I did indeed have a cake Barbara, plus two very large, wonderful strong, proper coffee's.

The first one didn't touch the sides. Then a lovely goats cheese and pepper panini, followed by a bakewell tart. A rather expensive potter round Mark's, a little potter in Tesco's, (both Buggies were out of action, the security man who usually looks after me was very apologetic). I said don't worry, I will just stand in the middle and give OH directions :D

Home, shopping away, showered, checked my blood sugar and it was way in my boots, getting all sweaty and shaky, so rapid intake of shortbread has helped with the little hypo. Obviously I did not have enough cakes.

Going to sit in my chair and eat some more oaty biscuits. Everyone take lots of care. XXXX Bubbles

Hello Bubbles I hope you have put your sugar right?? and are feeling ok now?

Thank you house move still going ok as far as I know.

No packing or clearing been done by me though since Friday until my neck is properly better.

I think the coffee probably looked weak and the colour of ditch water? Joan made me laugh asking how you knew!!!

Mind you I've said things taste like unspeakable things before now, but I haven't actually tried them

Kath I have lost height too!! Don't know whether it was with the back surgery???

Macaroni cheese is fab isn't it?

Right let me see what I would like on the menu.....

Oh dear I fancy all of it except the Caesar salad!! I love eggs too so will have the scrambled egg topper and the one-pan summer eggs as well as the smoked salmon and egg bagel :)

    YUM!

Joan - I hope yesterday's swim was a good one? Neck is on the mend, but I am being careful. It doesn't like driving much!

    Barbara
our buyers want spring bank holiday for the move. I think I have done enough for now. Did you know the loft was a surprise for Paul who is dreading it? :D

I am so glad you will be off your back soon. I am proud of you for actually sticking to it.

Let's hope Toady and the others are ok and pop in anytime they can.

Christine you don't need to worry about the loft if you're going nowhere, just do your gardening. I also have a plan of this garden and will pass it on to my buyers.

I used to do 8 hours straight in the garden, but now half an hour then an hour sitting and so on :hammock: I need one of these :)

I have one shampoo and one conditioner. Paul has his own shampoo and Lucy has one of each too and one shower gel.

Do they realise you have to move them all to clean?!!

    Love to you all

That first café sounded awful Bubbles. Glad you enjoyed your coffee today. Glad your burns are healing well.

I do feel for you Barbara, having to sleep on your back still. And waking up a few times at night. Roll on next week. You are getting there.

Joan, yes I got my hot cross buns and some apple pies while I was at it. Glad you enjoyed your swim.

Kath, I've not heard of scrambled omelette either. Sounds interesting. I do love salmon. The Mexican chicken stew sounds good.

Toni, I hope Paul enjoys his 'surprise'. You used to do 8 hours in the garden? Wow, don't think I've ever managed that long. Maybe 4 or 5 hours. I tried my daughter's hammock. I got in ok but I needed someone to pull me back out. I was surprised it was so comfortable. I usually end up knocking half of the bottles on the shower floor then have to pick it up again.

Wow, what a hot day today. I managed to get in to the garden when I got home from work and cut the grass cut both front and back. Thank goodness the bin men collected the garden waste today. I had 6 bags full. I haven't been able to lock the back gate for months now because one of the posts has moved slightly. I've had a bag of soil up against it. I decided to sort it today so I took the old lock off, replaced a piece of wood on the frame then replaced the lock. Doesn't look very professional (well not at all in fact) but it does the job.

A late evening greeting to all. After a glorious day of sunshine, to open the news and see that Victoria Wood had passed away, was a genuine shock. My all time favourite comedienne, a brilliant talent. They used to live near us and you often met her first Husband in town, he always smiled and said hello.

Thank you Toni, my blood sugars soon recovered to normal levels, it might be something to do with having too much coffee, not sure really. Moving at Bank Holiday, not far away, it's so exciting. :splash:

I won't tell anyone Barbara, I think I will get a knee support for myself, we are not designed very well, when it comes to sleeping on our sides, putting pressure on our knees and hips.

Take care and don't do too much Christine, I know we all do, because we just want to. A hammock, well, I don't think I would ever get in one, or if I did, I would fly out the other side.

Kath I hope that your sciatic pains are easing, they are terrible.

Hugs to one and all, everyone take care and enjoy the sunshine, before frosts return at the week end. It's all up and down with the weather at the moment. XXXX bubbles

I don't put any on.

    Sunny greetings to all
Sorry your bloods are a bit askew Joan, there are so many different tests, potassium, sodium, electrolytes, you name it, they can test for it now, just depends which one they were talking about. let's hope they can sort it out without having to go into hospital - pills and potions can help in many cases. It will make your legs ache or feel like cramp. Gentle hugs

Glad you are feeling a bit better Toni, carry on taking care, it is not worth it in the end, even though we always push the boundaries a few too many times.

In laws popped in for a cuppa / coffee and a cherry scone - we are having an at home couple of days, catch up with house things and just chill out a bit. We have spent enough at the shops this week to make the bank squeak, lol. It doesn't take long for what seems like a small ish shop, to add up to £50 and more.

Right, giant crumpets with cheese, mayo and Mark's caramelised carrot chutney. (it is fab u lous).

Take care, I will go potter and see what OH is up to.

Almost a funny story. While I was at the hospital on Monday, the surgery rang my home. OH answered. My GP requested a blood test. Chris told the person on the phone that I was at the hospital. they asked if I could get to the surgery. Chris said no, she's been having the District Nurse out. So they said the would arrange for the DN to come round. This morning I decided to ring the surgery to check that he would have a blood form. After searching for 10 minutes, she said she didn't know anything about it and couldn't find the notes. Then she gave me the number for the DN Liaison Service. I rang, and they took my details and said they'd ring me back, but didn't know when. Half an hour later the phone rang. It was my DN. He was on his way and would be five minutes. When he arrived, I asked him if he'd known about the appointment this morning. He said yes. he had the blood form, and did my test. The Liaison service haven't rung back yet. What the heck was that all about then? Oh well, my blood test has been done. hahahahaha
    :swim-shark:

Toni, I have another friend who lost height after having back surgery.

Bubbles, Nordic walking was on Bramcote Park. Do you know where that is? Close to Beeston, just a little way from Nottingham itself. You might have heard of the school that used to be there. Bramcote Hills School.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: Enjoying this sunshine. Shame it has to change for the weekend. :?

Lucy's last IV chemo is MONDAY Barbara!!!

I am so happy and terrified too.

What a shock about your poorly feet :( I hope the lady has helped you.

Gosh Joan low sodium? I hope they know what to do about it. Please let us know what they do won't you? Any news on Sue's appointment yet?

Thanks the hot tub is BLISS!!!

Kath I am very glad you actually got your blood test done - however it came about!! Odd very odd......

Main thing is it's done eh? Aha! Now I know why I am a shorty ;)

I have also been loving the sunshine! Did a bit of careful packing up of one kitchen cupboard today.

Bubbles I have been careful I promise although the wheatie is on my neck now.

I avoid supermarkets as much as possible you know my one or two items is almost always £60 worth! I rather like you in-laws they can come here and bring me a slice of cake :)

    Boring me today eh?

Been trying to contact Lucy's surgeon to see whether te other one is going to look at her shoulder....no luck also quotes for removal firms - I really want one if it's not too pricey.

    Love to you all

Joan, I hope the tests get to the bottom of what's going on with you. The body has salts which do all sorts of things with the body's systems. If they are unbalanced, things go wrong, like your legs aching. It has nothing to do with the salt we put on our food.

Toni, thanks for the offer of pulling me out of the hammock. I'll get back in now. I hope your neck is a bit better. Not long now till Lucy's last chemo. Yaaay! Her surgeon must have been busy today. Hope you find a removal firm that's suitable. I checked my pond again yesterday. The water is clearer now although there is a lot of weed on the bottom but I daren't clear any more as there is definitely frog spawn. There are big black spots in the eggs. Not sure how long they take to bake but I'll let you know when they hatch.

Barbara, I'm glad you got your foot seen to, although not that you had to spend most of the day in hospital. I hope the icing and foot support helps.

Bubbles, I'm glad your blood sugar levels are back to normal. I fully expected to climb in one side of the hammock and back out the other side but fortunately I didn't. I don't normally have scones but now and again I'll have a cherry one. A few years ago, one café I went to were doing Xmas scones. They were spicy cherry.

Kath, that was a bit strange wasn't it? Wonder if they got the wrong person. Yes, it is a shame we'll have colder weather for the weekend.

I heard that one of the houses out the back of my garden was burgled the day before yesterday in broad daylight. They got in through the patio doors. I think they must have been keeping an eye on the house to see when the owners would be at work. Another lovely day here today so a little bit more weeding done today. Not much though.

Well, it is not today, lol, so I thought I would pop in and have a cuppa, check the medicine trolley is full.

I do know Bramcote Park Kath, not well, but I have been, many moons ago. I trained at QMC, which is not a million miles away. Wollaton Hall was a fav place to visit and walk round the lovely grounds.
Glad the blood test was done, finally, in a roundabout sort of way. Left hand and right hand. Good that the DN knew what the score was.

Good to hear that Lucy's chemo is finishing on Monday, sorry, I don't know the reason's for and why, but, it will be good to see the end of them, without a doubt. I understand your concerns and relief, all mixed up at the same time.
Careful packing is good. When we moved to France, we had the removal company come in and pack everything, right down to the last spoon and cup, what a relief that was. Mind you, it cost a small fortune - history now I guess.
I will send the in laws round, you have been warned, F in law will drive you crackers, with tales of old and war and lorries and buses and machinery and this is not right and they shouldn't do that and...............the list is endless.
I was going to the shop with them tomorrow, but I gave M in Law some money to get a couple of things and pop them in on their way home, they only live 50 yards away.

Burglars so close is quite concerning Christine, they don't seem to care if it is daylight or night time. As you said, they had probably been keeping an eye on the house. It is a worry, we live in such troubled times now. Our house was never locked, going back into the 60's there, but it was left open, night and day. Now, we never leave a door unlocked.
Xmas scones, mmm, think I would have to pass on those, I can imagine cinnamon and cloves, my two food horrors.

Right, I had better move, I am spending twice as long typing, going back over all the errors, hands giving out a bit. It is potter time.

    Oh Joan!!

That is disgusting! Stealing your chargers! I am really cross now and I was cross before about Christine's neighbours!

Does your house insurance cover the theft?

Bubbles Lucy (in brief) was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia January4th 2014 (just after we lost our Valval),at 16 years and 3 weeks. She has been on chemo ever since and had an awful time. Liver injury, lost 2 1/2 stone, many many terrifying seizures and infections. Her last ever chemo will be on Monday so celebrations all round :) Unfortunately the treatment has resulted in avascular necrosis in her LT hip and RT shoulder.

You know what? I would happily listen to your FIL :D My own MIL tells me the same stories over and over and I really don't mind! Bless them - we'll be the same won't we?!

Very convenient that they can pop a few things in for you as they live so close.

I must ask - where did you live in France?

    Christine
    - I rather think we should have 'pond watch' on here looking at the progress of your frogs spawn :)

Lucy's surgeon's secretary was busy - will try again in a mo am waiting for a call form our estate agents first.

I think I will ask whether we could email?

    :hammock:

In you get and give me a shout when you're ready to get out!

    Love

Another sunny day, we are blessed, much better than the forecast. Maybe one day, they might get it right  We don't take a lot of notice, just open the curtains and see what it is doing :sunny:

Not at all Joan, blood screening is so high tech these days, far more so than when I was nursing.

Thank you for letting me know Toni, what a terrible time Lucy and the family have had. Leaving necrosis in the bone is yet another hurdle to deal with. Sending hugs in abundance.

Oh Bless Val and Trish, I used to love my late night natters with Trish, until silly o clock in the morning. They even sent flowers when my Father passed away, which was so touching. Miss them very much.

We lived about 30 minutes south of Bergerac in France Toni. It was good for 5 years, but we are glad we came back to spend time with family, I cannot imagine how things would have been with Dad so ill and us being abroad, you are not able to just pop round and help. Anyway, I can argue in French, especially with the electricity and water companies, lol Plus, the heat got to me and my GP over there said it was not doing my cardiac problems any good at all. I must say the health care was second to none, I was so well looked after.

Pond watch, yes, we need to get BBC on with some cameras, to keep an eye on the frog population.

Well, OH has gone out to fuss in the garden, I had better do something, maybe have another coffee :D then I might wake up a bit.

Take care, enjoy the sunshine. XXXXX Bubbles

A bit chilly today, compared to Wednesday and Thursday. Glad it was so nice for the Queen's 90th.

Toni, I remembered when my chemo was ongoing. Counting the days until the last one, then when all was finished, I remember feeling scared, thinking HELP, I'M NOT HAVING CHEMO ANY MORE. Still get anxious when annual check is due. Especially this year as I had to delay it due to my other health problems. Rebooked it now for the summer - but goodness only knows what's going on in there!!!

Joan, I could think of a few good names for the thieves who took your chargers, but I'd get chucked off the forums if I used them.

Bubbles, oh yes, Wollaton Hall and park. When I was a littl'un, they used to keep the Nottingham police horses in stables at Wollaton Park. I was often taken there to watch them being groomed. They were beautiful. There are lots of gorgeous buildings in Notts.

Hope all have a good weekend. :):D
