Kath, the menu looks wonderful, I will have to study and decide on something savoury - we have all had a lot of cake recently, while under the cloak of pocket duties.
Well done on the trail, glad you wrapped up warm.
Boy is it cold tonight, a thick frost and a mighty biting breeze.

I still have my phone at the moment Barbara, the return box has not arrived, maybe today. Will be lost when it has gone  :?:cry: The first phones were just like a breeze block, compared to the wafer thin ones of today, lol

I am sure Lucy will be ok in the lounge / ward / under Diddicat supervision and I am sure you will have a listening ear Toni. Not surprising she needs some oromorph prior to exercises, steady away, the determination is already there, in spades.
I am glad you are home and in your own bed too. I was stressed out on the monday and tuesday............transference they call it. Knowing that others are there in spirit is of great comfort, we don't realise just how complex and far reaching our human skills can travel across the miles.

Good to hear that all the staff were wonderful, it is always the bad things that you read in the press, never the good, working under pressure and delivering A+ care, is part of the job. Clean too, I am very very impressed, makes me proud :)

It seems curry is on the menu all round, I am a wee bit jealous. I will have a look see in Sain-- today.

I hope everyone is keeping warm and cozy. Joan I hope they sort out your heating, they cannot leave you with a dicky heating system.........I will be on to your MP :)

Hi To Mig, Christine, Carol, Kerrin, Elizabeth and all. Take lots of care. Best do a ward round while I have my slippers on.

Morning all..very cold here but dry..
Toni I can see the reasoning behind Lucy sleeping in a recliner ..she will be better supported and wont be tossing and turning..she is doing well and shoulder are so complex..my friend had a partial one and said the pain got a little worse after a couple of weeks and then it started to ease..I am glad the hospital looked after you I was a bit worried after all the hype from me...hope you both had some sleep..
Joan like Toni says its time you had a new boiler...the girls had chicken Korma..when we got Niamh form under the table..
Aiden..hope they dont have your phone long..must say when I have returned them they have only been a few days..only I say ..its a long time without..I was very impressed with the hospital Lucy was in..and its MRSA free..not sure about the other bugs..I always feel for the nurse..they must walk miles...
Off out now ...just returning a coat then something to eat..
    Love to everyone xxxxxx

Joan, Spicy carrot and lentil soup, and any of the puddings. I'd want some crusty bread or Ciabbatta with the soup though. I just noticed I made a bit of a mess copying and pasting.

Toni, I'd love to join you in the bird watch, but my list would be - 1 Blackbird and seven starlings. End of.

Tesco man should be arriving soon, our delivery slot is 12-13.00 he is usually pretty good, but occasionally doesn't arrive until the second half hour. They're as busy as bees.

I could have anything Kath......lots of collared doves and woodpigeons...robin of course......blackbird...tits

I'll let you know :) Looking for a sunny day.

    I hope Tesco have been.

Barbara the hospital were really lovely I mean that. Even in the YPU at the QE there was one nasty nurse and another impatient one.

The tea ladies really looked after me too :)

Lucy slept in bed last night, but had some codeine at 1 am and oramorph at 4 am. Today I have purchased some senna. No way has the prune juice worked :(

Joan I hope they hurry up and decide I think a new boiler is what you need. I agree with you Lucy will soon be up and at it :)

Aidan - phones have totally changed. I am remembering the first one I had before I had Charley about 1993ish. I had one being a social worker at the time.

Lucy slept in her bed - pretty well to be fair bless her. I agree with you about pain meds before exercise. The physio said to do it. Exercise is essential.

The hospital is one you would be proud of - not much to look at - I am sure Barbara would agree, but immaculate.

    Keep warm yourself.

Oh I just thought it's safe to order my hare now - I'll be home to receive him :)

Evening all...had a good day today..just chilling in a coffee shop then onto the GC..for tea not coffee..
Toni the hospital is Victorian..and used to be mostly chest complaints..my OHs mum passed away there in the 60s..then it became joint replacements..John Charnley one of the first to make a new hip..or a certain type, worked there .....I suppose Lucy has tried the fibrogel..think thats what its called anyhow they are in sachets..and worked brilliant for me..so glad she got in her own bed..she will get there...
Kath |I hope your tes*o man came I am sure he did they dont usually miss..so brilliant being able to order on line and delivered..I remember my late mum giving the corner shop a list and they would bring it..just to save her carrying.. :)
Hope everyone's had a decent day...love to all xxxxxx

A late evening / early morning to one and all.............hope everyone is as ok as possible, managing to keep warm, especially Thursday night, my was it frosty..........

Sounds like you have got the local support, for your heating problems, rightly so too. They should replace it, for an economical condensing boiler, will save them in the long run and you will be warm as toast. One radiator is not good enough for you and Sue, wish there was something we could do to help.
I will leave warming hugs for you all.........sending out positive vibes for a quick and effective outcome.

Bless, Niamh being under the table, don't blame her if there was a racket going on, I would have been there too.........I meant to look for some curry things today, but was sidetracked and forgot. Typical me  The box and return pack came Friday, for my phone, so it has gone off and I am alone, in the wilderness

    g045.gif

I will cope though Barbara, with a lot of Tea and Cake. OH has given me one of his old smartphones to keep by me and pretend it is my real one, lol. He has hidden the case from mine, so I don't get too upset,:lol::lol:
As you say, they are usually very quick, "usually". I have the online tracking and repair status to look at, umpteen times a day (we only posted it back Friday pm) Bless, it's a shame for me.

I am glad to hear that the hospital is MRSA free, it was a thing we never heard of, norovirus, nope, rotavirus, nope, but the wards were cleaned with powerful chemicals, which of course, were banned, in case they were unsafe - tell us now we have been using them for 20 years !!
We did walk miles, I don't know if anyone knows the QMC and City Hospital in Nottingham, Mig will know. They are huge and the main walkway at City, is like doing a half marathon. I trained at the QMC and worked many years at City Hosp.

You can have some of our birdies Kath, to mark off on your list. Robins are doing a lot of shouting over their territories, Jenny Wrens are so cute, they flit about so fast, sparrows and coal tits all go around in gangs and make a big fuss in the hawthorn hedge we planted, we, I mean OH.......the royal we, lol.
Hope your Tesco order arrived and was everything that you ordered, with no substitutes. We used to have Tes-- deliver sometimes, they were always very good.

Hi Toni, glad to hear that Lucy slept ok, with two pit stops for some pain relief, that is really good, considering how soon she is post op. Things could well get more uncomfortable as stages of healing progress, but I am sure it will be controlled and transient.

Senna, oh dear, prune juice not working. I am sure the senna will have the required effect.

I would be very proud, given all the high praise, it is wonderful to hear. A little kindness costs nothing and there is no excuse for nasty medical staff, none at all.

oh yes, order your Hare, definitely. I will be home all week too, waiting for my phone :cry:  Hugs to Diddicat, Pepe says hi too.

We were at the GC too Barbara, I will have to stop having two coffee's, I had normal ones, both times, instead of one decaf and it leaves me all out of sorts. Nice at the time, but I need to remember, one normal, one decaf. The scones never have an adverse effect though :)
We used Charnley chairs on ortho wards, for all the hip replacement patients.
Fybogel is quite good, it has been around for a long time. One that is very good is Laxido, that dissolves clear in water. Very gentle, but effective, you can buy it, as well as get it on prescription.

Well, this won't get the baby a bonnet, I had better potter a little. Hi to Mig, Carol, Kerrin, Elizabeth, Christine and all. Take lots of care, XXX Aidan

Joan I get it - it's a newish boiler :? Probably a duff one though so they should still change it in my opinion. Lucy took some senna before bed so hope all should be sorted this morning. Fingers crossed!

Oh Aidan sans telephone!! You poor thing!! I hope you aren't shaking too much

OH is being supportive at this stressful time. Bless him.

You're right all these 'super-bugs' immune to antibiotics  I remember the QMC!! Great hospital. Oh I forgot to say there was only one problem with the hospital at Wrightington.....it being an orthopaedic hospital all the loos were too high for us!! Shoulders are orthopaedic too, but both of us had our legs swinging!! I think Lucy would have been able to 'go' there if she could have 'pushed' as it were!!

Ok I will order my Hare along with fridge door shelf which is now in stock thank goodness :)

We can watch the post together ;

Diddi has her mac and galoshes ready to come over later. She feels safe to leave us now we aren't going to disappear!! Warn Pepe so he can get the tuna...oh I mean...training stuff out

Barbara - Lucy refuses meds for her belly and usually manages ok as you know she is regularly on codeine anyway. At the QE I wrote this song:

(To Pink Flloyd's Brick in the Wall)

    We don't need no constipation
    We don't need no fibogel
No senna capsules in the morning
    We don't want no laxido
No Nurses! Leave our bo*els alone!!

All in all it's just another (poo) on the ward

anyway it made the girls laugh. I had one for the pump alarms and other disturbances in the night too...

I had wanted to read some of the story of John Charnley, but it was just too hectic.

I hope everyone is doing ok our missing friends

    Love

Oh my have been super busy :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: over the past week had lots of things to fit into each day plus have had a few internet problems again. have not really spent much time on my laptop at all until today and then spent loads of time sorting out emails. hope everyone is as pain free as they can be with this very cold weather, I know I have suffered a lot of extra pain its the icy winds that really chill you to the bone. also lots of viral infections ect going around we have been lucky in our house and not been caught by them as yet. both my great grand daughters have now had chicken pox baby came down with it on Tuesday this week exactly 2 weeks after her sister.

Well I am going out for a meal tonight with Mr Turbo tonight to celebrate my birthday which is on Monday so looking forward to it.
and I'm afraid all thoughts of slimming world go out of the window tonight will get back to it tomorrow.

A late evening and a snowy one at that, just been to back door and thought, that is not rain :o

Seem to have had one of those at home days where you think you have all the time in the world and then suddenly after watching tennis, ski jumping etc (don't get me started on the wrangling between Sky and Discovery, who are going to pull their channels on the 1st of Feb, no more Eurosport, no more TLC no more Animal planet :cry: ) Social media is on meltdown, to try and get them to agree a deal...............Anyway............I digress

Hi Joan, your boiler is not old by any means, it should be under their warranty, if it cannot be fixed, they install a new one. Grrrrrrrr, we need you warm and cozy, not huddled and chilled.
You should not have to sit with a convector heater between you, can we not send a petition to the housing association.

I know Toni, sans telephone - I am trying to cope and I have OH old phone to keep me marginally happy until mine returns.  :?
I hope Lucy is feeling less troubled, after the senna. Glad you remember the QMC, it was, at the time I trained, the largest teaching hospital in Europe and was a real flagship for the NHS. We used to have 10 minutes added on to our breaks, just so we could get to the dining room, on floor D as I remember. Yes, we could smoke in there too, wow, how times have changed, lol.

Our loo in the adapted shower room is a high one, I insisted we had one put in and I cannot use it, it is not roomy enough for me, not that I have a backside like a gable end :lol: Everyone else has to sit and swing their legs too.
It was not the best decision I have ever made, good job we have the en suite, pour moi, with the frame that goes round the loo.

Where was I. Oh yes, in the loo. Yes, we can sit and wait for the postman / lady, for our parcels to arrive, if Kath doesn't mind we can sit on the window seat :)

I did see Diddicat, all wrapped up, but she didn't stop, I think she had an inkling that chilly weather was on the way here. Pepe will skype tomorrow. Tuna was on the menu today, but none of them wanted any !! Huh, go without then.

The song lyrics are great, lol. Love it.

Hi Barbara glad you had a laugh, I do try and keep a cheerful side. That will change if my phone is delayed though, I can only manage with the substitute for a short while.
Yes, the Charnley chairs, the ortho wards were full of them - I doubt there are any in use now.
It is funny with the coffee, I can drink two large ordinary ones at Ner--- and have no trouble, same with Cos--, but the GC must use a different blend of beans, for some reason my delicate constitution cannot take two

Hi there Carol, good to see you. You have been a busy bee indeed. All the GC being poorly one after the other, bless them. Glad you are avoiding the bugs. Those lazy winds to bite and once you get to being really chilled, it takes ages to get warm again. I cannot sleep if I have cold feet........
I hope you have had a lovely meal out, indeed no thoughts of slimming world on nights out, there are no calories or sins on special occasions. :cake: all ready for Monday XX

Hi to Mig, Elizabeth, Kerrin, Christine and all. Everyone keep warm and safe, take care. Time for a potter. XX Aidan

Morning Joan :) unfortunately the hip is the left shoulder the right side

I agree with Aidan it's just not on. They had better take action on Monday or we'll all be down there in the bus p065.gif

I bet OH's old phone is just NOT good enough!! Poor you. Have the DTs stopped now?? I heard cake is good for telephone withdrawal....

Lucy finally had a trip to the loo last night, but repeating the senna as it was 6 days.... and result not quite enough

Imagine getting extra break time for the distance to the smoking room!! Bliss!! When I had Charley at Stoke (vile place) they still had a smoking room on the ward for the MUms!!

Yes I am with you frames round the loo like we have here is the answer. Is your high up loo a posh one - wash and blow-dry type?

So Diddicat didn't stop then? Bless her its icy here so she's only nipped out for a wee and come straight back in. No one wanted tuna  I think they have been skyping because the lap top was on when I got up and I know I had switched it off.

I imagine each café does have different strength blends. At least you know how many you can have at each place anyway.

Hi Carol!!! I am pleased to see you :) Glad you haven't caught chicken pox or the like. was it new baby who had it? Poor things I hope they are ok.

Lovely meal out and birthday on Monday - we'll have to remember that.

Barbara you have a high loo too? Ours here are normal height, but the main one is where we keep the frame to help you get up and down. None of your real LOW-LEVEL ones though I hate them :(

Lucy is ok now the senna worked ;)

I am a bit worried as I am having my hair done tomorrow morning and no one is around to be with Lucy. I am sure she'll be fine, but will be on edge the whole time :(

    Love to out missing friends...Kerrin.....Elizabeth...Chrsitine.....mig

Joan I agree with Toni we will all come down there on the bus and sort the housing out..we are not having you cold..a new boiler would be chaoer than having to keep mending it..some warming hugs to go with Aidens..(())
Aiden I take it you watched Federa and Wawrinka..SP....what a game that was I honestly thought Federa had it after the first games..anyhow he got it in the end..and now Federa and Nadal.. :D
My toilet is a bit to high my little legs dont touch the floor... but didnt want the frame round it forever...glad the phone is keeping you happy..not be long now..
Toni I bet Lucy is so relieved that the senna worked..having your hair done will be just what you need..I am sure Lucy will be able to get hold of you if needed..I hope her pain is not to bad..
Carol its good to hear from you...and glad you haven't caught the chicken pox..its good the children have both got them out the way..and you deserve a treat on your Birthday..

Yesterday we did the LE trail.

We had sun earlier :sun: but now it's raining. :x

Toni, how's the bird watch doing, Is Lucy able to join in? We've had the usual 7 starlings and one blackbird, but also had a couple of wood pigeons too. Not sure if Diddycat paid us a visit today, but a new (different) puss was spotted on the fence beneath the conifer over the way. Did you tell her to keep out of sight while you were bird watching? Of course you can use the window seat to watch for the postie. Can't have you keep look out on the loo. b060.gif As for QMC and Nottm City, you're talking about my alternative homes there.

Sorry, will have to stop now. My eyes keep closing. d015.gif Bye. xxx

Sorry AWOL again. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.

Anyway I feel well today and was meant to be going out for a 70th birthday meal but Lucy felt too unwell to go. I've had my shouting match with OH cos of course its MY FAULT she won't go so I told him to go up and force her to go, make her get dressed if its that easy:roll: . I bust a gut getting everybody up, showered, dressed and ready in time-I've done my bit....OH and Jack have gone alone.

Toni I'm glad the op is all done and dusted and she's getting better.

CBB is really making me angry especially that Nicola. I feel so sorry for Jedward, what a bunch of hypocrites the others are. Watching CBB is not good for my blood pressure.

Just been upstairs to check on the 2 still at home and Da has had a stomach malfunction!!!!Maybe just as well he didn't go for the meal (he would usually go because we obviously ca't leave him alone at home but because I was staying e stayed too so OH and Jack can relax and enjoy the meal).

I have finally got somebody to look at our boiler. For 3 years the rads have come on when we run the hot bath or shower water, which isn't fun in the Summer but then we started not getting hot water through. Its the diverter valve (Barbara's hubby will know all about that) so that is getting replaced this week.

Finally we have been told that there will be changes to our special needs transport after half term!
They are expecting us to take/collect our children at pre arranged pick up points, which means more traffic congestion at already congested places and some sensory children having to walk to these pick ups. There is a big safety issue with this and everybody is upset.

Sorry I'm not being cheerful, generally life is good :sun: Hope you are all well too,

    Love and stuff

    hello again everyone

how are you all doing in this very changeable weather we seem to be having. Its not too bad here at the moment. had a really nice meal last night. Just the two of us and mr turbo was quite chatty for once.:lol::lol:

Aiden seems there is lots of illness and viruses about at the moment seems everyone is unwell with some thing or the other fortunately all mine family illnesses seem to be ok now just the baby who should be ok and no longer infectious by tomorrow so all doing ok I know what you man about the really bitter winds and damp hate getting to cold as I away suffer a lot and as for snow that's a real no no with me yep meal it was good always say what's slimming world when I go out .

Toni yes both Lillie and new baby Graycie had the chicken pox she only started with it on Monday this week so should be ok by tomorrow I don't think she had it as bad as her sister Lillie. I had a really nice meal out last night Mr Turbo was in a very talkative mood too which makes a change :lol: so had a really nice evening.

Barbara I love watching the birds eating from the feeders to the only problem in our garden is the blooming squirrels get there first and the nuts go very quickly don't matter how squirrel proof the feeders are supposed to be they still get at them.

Elizabeth I know what you mean about problem boilers we have had this too its not good especially when you have sick people around.

love to all and especially to any missing friends on here. x :P

Aiden, hope you get your phone back soon and you don't have to wander in the wilderness for too long. I always think I don't use mine much but I do miss it if I go out without it.

Joan, it's not right the housing association haven't fixed your heating properly. I hope they do it very soon. I agree you should have a new one.

Toni, glad Lucy has been able to 'go' at last. I'm sure she will be fine tomorrow for a short while. You'll have your phone with you no doubt so she can contact you if necessary. Love the poem. I've been singing it too.

Barbara, yes the birds have had an easier winter than usual. Hope it stays that way. I had to giggle about everyone swinging their legs on the loo.

Kath, hope you enjoyed the LE trail. I didn't have many birds either. 2 pigeons and Mr and Mrs Blackbird. Usually there are at least a dozen starlings and occasionally a wren or robin.

Elizabeth, good to hear you are feeling well. Certainly not your fault if Lucy doesn't. Surely OH knows that. Hope Dan feels better by morning. Could you all get together and com-lain about the new travel arrangements?

Carol, glad all your family are ok. Glad you enjoyed your meal last night. You do right forgetting about dieting for that one night. Happy birthday for tomorrow.

My internet and tv went off at teatime yesterday. I phoned up about it and they said they knew about it and it wouldn't be fixed till 2.40 in the morning. So I had a film and jigsaw evening last night. It was a little iffy this morning but ok again now. Managed to get most of the Xmas decorations put back in to the proper boxes (I had just dumped them all in carrier bags while the GC were here) so I can now walk about up there.

Afternoon to all, hope everyone is as ok as possible, a bit warmer today, well, no snow, which is fine by us.

I am glad the H association are doing what they can and as quick as they can, rightly too. Let's hope you are warm as toast this coming week.
Toni has the bus on standby and we will be there, en mass, to intervene on your behalf :)

The spare phone is not up to the same spec of my s7 edge, by any means, but I am coping, with cognitive therapy and relaxation music.:lol: Cake is very good as are shortbread fingers, they seem to help quite a bit :D I should see some more info on the tracking site tomorrow.

Oh yes, every ward had a smoking room, usually the day room, where the tv was. Staff could smoke in Sisters office (if Sister smoked, which they usually did). We used to smoke in the back kitchen too. Naughty   Sister caught us once and we were scolded - never did it again.

No, the high loo is not a wash spin and dry cycle,  just high, lol. I could not be without my frame, these low toilets are just a no go, I would never get up, not without two strong men and a winch.
Pepe was hounding his Mother this morning, just being a pain and upsetting her, so he is banned from Skype for a day. Told them, that tuna is off the menu for at least a week. I bet they sneak out at night and skype, then forget to turn things off.

Good to hear that Lucy is feeling moved, so to speak. Oh, that reminds me, we had a bowel book on the wards, they were like a second Bible. Have you been.............every evening we went round. lol
Lucy will be fine, Didicat will keep an eye and you won't be far away, or too long.

Well, it is now after midnight - don't ask, the day just seems to have vanished, again.

Hi Barbara Yes, watched all the A Open, the final was an edge of the seat one, so glad that Roger won his 18th Grand Slam, there was not a dry eye in the house. Way to go Team Federa
So you are left high on the loo, lol. We don't have a frame on the high throne, just on mine in the en suite. I call it mine, anyone can use it, as long as they are scrupulously clean :)

I will check online, see if my phone has arrived at the repair centre. No, hopefully it won't be long and I am coping, with help, with OH old phone.

Thank you Kath for letting Toni and I use the window seat, we are eager to catch the postie, phones and hares, very important.
I bet you do know the QMC and City Hosp well.
QMC is like a warren, we used to use all the back stairs and short cuts, but I would be lost now.
Hope you had a rest, with your eyes closing, don't hit the keyboard :?

Hi Elizabeth, good to see you - don't worry about being AWOL, as long as we know you are ok
Sorry you have had a bit of a do with OH and that Dan is feeling better. Hope the grumbles have subsided and that OH and Jack enjoyed their meal.
A diverter valve, I think humans have one of them too, lol. Good that it will be fixed soon and the rads behave in a more normal manner. Heating on in the summer, oh no, let's not go there, lol

I am not surprised everyone is upset about the new school pick up points, making sensory loss children go to a busy and unfamiliar place is not right, even with supervision, changes are difficult. Let's hope the powers that be, see sense.

Hi Carol nice to see you and glad to hear that the little ones are recovering from their illness's. Poor things when they have chickenpox, not nice at all.
It is lovely to watch the birds, we don't actually feed them, everyone around does, we get so many, searching through the planters and finding little grubs and Mrs Wren always about, flitting along.
Glad to hear that you had a lovely meal out and that OH was in a talkative mood, even better :) Slimming world, who are they lol. Happy birthday to you, shall I sing ........... :cake: :cake:

Hi Christine, thanks, I am sure the phone will be back, mid week, no, I do not want to be in the wilderness for long, lol.
    The loo's are quite a saga :lol::lol:

Internet trouble, oh dear, at least you got to do some more of the jigsaw and watch films. Glad it is back and working again now.
All the decorations back in their places, good to be able to move about.

Right my lovelies, I had better move. It is well after 1am and we have some ski jumping to watch, T to make, chocolates to eat - ooops, I let that secret out..........

Hi to everyone else. Take lots of care XXXXXX Aidan

Congratulations Kerrin, how lovely to hear your great news. As long as you are ok, don't worry about being AWOL, we just like to keep a check on our extended family :) see that everyone is ok.

Sounds like you have a busy week ahead, hope the competitions go well. I did try netball once, (we used to gate crash the girls games).

Hi Joan, have they sorted out what they are doing with the heating system, or do we need an outing, to offer our support. Toni will have the bus ready in no time.

Toni will have had her hair done and be all preened. I had my ears lowered yesterday, so feel much happier with myself. Hope Lucy continues to improve, sending hugs and chin rubs for Diddicat.

I thought we had better have cake while we sing Happy birthday :) Hope you have a lovely day

We had our coffee (one decaf), at the GC today, scones of course, as I am diagnosed scone dependent now.:lol: Mum n Dad are ok, keeping going and out and about every day, which is good. Just chilling out this afternoon, with the washer and dryer going of course. The cats are all :animal_busy: :animal_busy: :animal_busy: Pepe said he will skype Diddicat later, when we humans are napping.
Tesco e mailed to say they have received my phone at the repair center..................hooorah :)

Hi Barbara, Hi Kath, Mig, Elizabeth, Christine and all

Time for pills, yet again............it is a bit like Groundhog Day. But, needs must.

I will try and get on again later, much later, knowing me. When half the nation is all tucked up in bed.

Everyone take care. George is on call and Hattie is on duty with Charlie. Ward all spick and span. XXX Aidan
