Evening everyone. Feeling rather jaded today after swimming last night and for some reason my hands are worse than usual.

I also have a poorly Mr at home. It's normally me that is ill. Can't afford to this week with cricket meeting tomorrow and netball competition on Friday.

All this talk of good is making me hungry. Home for dinner soon.

Just popping in quickly again to say hello. Hope everyone not feeling well or in pain feel better soon. I saw mention of lost cakes. Wallpaper picked - good good. Someone's dog (sorry can't remember who said what now) is having a jab in the nose. Is it not the liquid which is squirted up? I remember having to sit on my Pyrenean mountain dog and only some of the liquid went up. The rest went all over me.

Had a phone call this morning from an Indian-sounding man (I won't say gentleman) saying there was a problem with my computer. I laughed then he shouted, "What the hell are you laughing at?" I said I objected to being spoken to like that and he just shouted again. I told him I was reporting the call to the police. Of course, there was no number left.

Is everyone ready for Doris? Either batten down the hatches or get your brolly out and do a Mary Poppins.

Hi all late this evening as I have a completely bunged up nose so am sleeping in armchair in living room tonight as I know when I lie down I shall be snoring because I will be sleeping with my mouth open because I cannot breath through my nose so I will end up keeping us both awake and because he knows I am not in the bedroom the dog keeps whingeing in his cage so we have had to let him sleep on the sofa tonight to shut him up. Oh well that's life I suppose. Think this may be a cold or perhaps early hayfever starting up.

Take care all will try to get some sleep now if I can.
    Stay positive always👍xx

Evening to one and all, rain and more rain.............waiting for Doris :? :?
Barbara, you need to keep tabs on your goodies, lol. A cooked chicken, how terrible. wonder if the same person who had the vanilla slices, had the chicken as well :lol:
We bought some custard today, so we are sorted now, with regard our sticky toffee puddings. I was determined to make a b Line for it in Sainsbury's.
The eye appointment was ok, thank you all for being under the cloak. There were people in the out patients too, only 4-5, but that is really busy for our local hosp.
Drops in, sting ouch, wait, take pictures, go home, with eyes like a rabbit in headlights  Results in post in a week or so. I was trying to peer at the pictures the lady had taken on the computer, but the drops had made me blurry eyed, so was hopeless trying to peep.

Yes, I guess the vending machine does bring in some money, I have only even seen staff use it, well, if there are no patients about, you might as well have a bar of chocolate :D

Your deed poll forms are away too, it's all change. I will have to change to Aidan Bubblesdevere :lol:

Cruising with Jane will be good this week, on the Danube, in one of the most luxurious river boats afloat, have been nosing at it on Google and it is FAB U LOUS

I hope that the Sisters are happy when they move into full time care, I know you hear some bad stories, but there are so many good ones, which never get a mention. It is always the bad press that sells the papers.

Hi Carol, definitely white coat syndrome. It is a well known thing. Maybe ask Dr for a 12 or 24 hour test to see if it usually on the high end of normal, or just when you see the Nurse or Dr.

You are doing really well, staying within your target weight. Way to go, have a very light scone :? :D

Hope Snowie is improving gradually and no more miserables Mr T.

Hi Joan, all will be fixed today with your heating, he says hopefully. The right pins the right decisions about the boiler. Mum and Dad are doing ok, Mum seemed a bit more quiet today, just a nursing observation as we used to say "not quite right". I think she was just tired and needed a good rest, which is no surprise really, bless her.
We went to Sainsbury's and then called in to theirs for a coffee and a croissant, for a change. Didn't over stay, as I had my appointment at the hospital mid afternoon.
Cannot wait to hear that your rads are all nice and warm.

Hi Toni, yes, I did think that the chiffon would be a little revealing. modesty required wherever possible. Mind you, we have all been patients and ones modesty seems to fly out of the window as soon as you get to the ward,:lol: :?

SUPER envious of those Wimbledon tickets, I might have to have a word with miss sleek, see if she can borrow them and bring them over on her broomstick, after Doris has been and gone,:lol:

It will be fabulous, keep reminding me nearer the time and we will look out for you :)

Glad the wallpaper has been decided upon , paint and the like sorted. I am sure Miss Slimcea will be in there to check things out.

Thank you for being under the cloak, there was a lot of rustling going on :lol:

Nice to hear that your Gd's have gone away to Cyprus Barbara, will be lovely, not too hot, pleasantly warm I hope. No, not had her phone stolen, how awful, I would be distraught too. We all keep so much information on our smartphones these days, banks passwords, social media, travel, navigation, etc etc. Was it insured, with one of the phone company insurance schemes? It is a pain if you have to let everyone know, but all being well, whoever has it won't be able to access it and the phone company will block the IMEI number and phone number.

I do hope SS find a suitable home, as you say, a nursing home would be better, as there are trained nurses on 24 hours a day, no disrespect to other carers, they do a fantastic job, but it is better to have Sisters (or Brothers) to keep tabs on things, working alongside the carers, one compliments the other. Am I digging myself into a hole?

I bet your decorating looks very nice. We need to do some here, ceilings etc. Might have a word with Mr G over the road, he is a painter and decorator.

Hi Kerrin, sorry that you are feeling jaded, the swimming catching up on you, or maybe just arthur being a pain for no rhyme nor reason. I know my back has been a swine, moreso than normal. Getting comfortable is a thing of the past.  Will keep on pottering.
I hope your OH is better very soon. Good luck with the meeting today at the Oval.

Hi Christine - so you get the same calls we get, saying they are from our internet provider (talktalk, who we have not had in a year and more). OH tells them what for, then we block them on the call blocker. We had been getting quite a few each day, but they seem to be less now. Another scam is to say that your computer is faulty and you need to follow their instructions to put it right. Yes, of course, on ya bike.
You did right to laugh out loud, always handy to have a whistle, to blow down the phone, that normally shuts them up. They are all calling from overseas, when you look up the number, they seem to use local ones, to try and catch you out, but the number never exists when you call it back
You can register your number at TPS online, you certainly receive less calls after registering with them.

    http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

    It is free and safe.

Yes, we are all ready for Doris, we have our weather warnings out, the river near us is already full to the top, another few days of rain and the road might be covered. We are higher up on the hill, so safe from floods.
Everyone take care if you have to go out.

Hi to Mig, Elizabeth and all, lots of love XXXX Aidan

Oooh what a day!! Horrible windy and I need to get out too :( :?

Miss Slimcea will not be flying today, Aidan, so she will have to skype Pepe and the girls.

I will keep a careful eye on the tickets. Paul applies every year for Wimbledon. I hope Lucy won't be upset as there are only 2 tickets.

I hope we weren't too much trouble at the eye hospital? It was the cats you see... eating tuna and tinned salmon!! Gross

Shame you couldn't see what they had found though.

The walls are a lovely colour called whisp. Warm only just even a colour maybe a tiny hint of baby-pink. Today they are doing her star-lights for the ceiling :)

    It will be amazing :)

Poor you Carol :( I hope it's a cold not hay-fever else it will go on and on!

It's quite sweet that Snowy wants to be with you bless him sending ((())) and some

    p023.gif

I always fib to those callers Christine and say we only have apple-macs in the house. HUGE fib - can't afford them although Lucy does have one.

Daisycat flew across the road in the wind, from the Churchyard, and I have trapped her inside now I'm sure she was being blown over bless her.

I hope your Mr is on the mend Kerrin or very soon. I hope your hands are easier today I don't like the sound of the word 'jaded' :?

Oooh Barbara so you have a lovely new living room to look at :) Lucy's paper isn't up yet as the walls needed 2 coats first.

I hope the phone issue gets sorted in time and no bank details were compromised. I am sorry she must be so upset.

As for the Cyprus trip I hope they are all having a fabulous time :D

I also hope our Elizabeth is feeling better :?

Today they have BETTER sort Joan's heating else we will be going there with or without storm Doris p065.gif Physio this afternoon for Lucy so I will know exactly how many degrees she can do later. We have been doing strengthening exercises this week.

    Love

I'm so glad you told us that Miss Slimcea wasn't flying tonight. I saw a group of puss cats heading off on board super dooper skateboards (the type that fly, like in Back To The Future). I think they were heading for Sawley Marina. Hope they're OK.

Joan, I can't believe the gas man is putting you off until tomorrow. :x

Christine, I had a call once - ages ago, telling me I had a problem with my Windows. I knew she meant my PC. I queried why she was calling me about my windows. She laughed and said I don't mean your house windows. I replied less than politely and slammed the phone down. They treat us like idiots don't they.

Afternoon to one and all I hope Doris has not caused too much trouble for anyone
    30848928.jpg

It has been really quite calm here all day, a bit of rain and breezy, but nothing like some of the pictures of snow and howling gales. We have weather warnings though so not going out.

Oh Joan, I cannot believe that the gas man has cancelled  after all the waiting, it's no joke for you and Sue, don't they realise that?

Toni, definitely a no fly zone until after the week end, they will all be fine, Skyping each other (when they wake up).

Well done on getting the tickets, I know they do a random selection, as so many apply. Exciting, wonder who will be playing. Dubai starts next week on Sky, so looking forward to that.

So it was the cats all munching, under the cloak, goodness, did they find something else, apart from fish  It might need an airing or a steam, to freshen it up for the next cloak duties :?
Whisp sounds a lovely colour, it will all look fabulous when it is done. Has Miss Sleek been to check things out yet?

Poor thing, blowing across the road from the Church, far better off indoors, even though she might think otherwise.

Hope physio goes well this afternoon for Lucy, I am sure you have been doing the exercises and the improvements will be noticeable :)
Glad you have the bus ready, poor Joan has to wait another day.

I hope the pus cats are ok at the Marina Kath, skateboarding is safer in the high winds. Not sure if Miss Sleek has tried one out, but she is a whizz on her broomstick.
Yes, these people that are actually paid, to annoy others, think we all came down in the last shower and are going to hand them the numbers to our bank accounts to help themselves to. They irritate OH immensely, so I shut my ears and let him deal with them. :o

Well, it is pill time, again. Kerrin I hope you are feeling a little more energised. Mig, Carol, Elizabeth and Christine too.

Everyone take lots of care, keep safe. XXXX Aidan

Kath, they do think we are stupid, don't they? We all know now that they are scammers looking for our details or to take control of our computers.

Carol, it's awful being bunged up like that. Hope it clears soon and isn't hay fever. Hope you manage to get some sleep in the chair.

Aiden, hope the results of your eye pictures are good. Don't like the idea of having a stitch in my eye. Think I must have missed what that was about. Ooops, just read it again and you said sting not stitch. Yes those drops do sting a lot. The call I got was from a company I'd never heard of saying I had a problem on my computer. I didn't give him the chance to tell me he could fix it. I've signed up to the TPS but it doesn't stop them all. A few other suggestions were to shout to someone else in the room "Sarge, have we got a trace on this call yet" or pretend it's a murder scene and ask for the caller's details so they could be interviewed as suspects. Or ask them to wait a second and put the phone next to a radio for a while.

Joan, you must be feeling quite angry by now with not getting your heating sorted out. I think we'll all be there to make sure he does.

Toni, Whisp does sound lovely. Bet it looks good on the walls. I like the idea of star lights. Poor Daisycat. She won't want to go out again. Hope the physio went well for Lucy.

Barbara, I started my Life Coaching course. Read the first module and now I need to write about what I think life coaching is and why I want to do it. Hope your GDs managed to get home ok. I heard a lot of flights were delayed or even cancelled.

Doris didn't do much damage here. Quite windy and a lot of rain last night but only a bit of wind today. I got home from work and bent down to open my shoes. As I did so, I noticed what I thought was a bit of fluff on my trousers. As I straightened up, I picked off the bit of fluff but then it moved and ran up my leg. I jumped and screamed out loud. Then I realised it was only the toggle on my coat. Called in to the optician's today. The next appointment was for next Friday but, when I explained what was wrong with my eyes, she said I needed to be seen earlier and sent me to the opticians across the road. She said If they didn't have an appointment straight away, I was to go to the eye A&E. I got an appointment for first thing tomorrow.

    Hi all
thank you all for your good wishes I only got about an hour and a quarters decent sleep between from about 5.00am to 6.15am and I think that was only because the tiredness took over for a power nap. I think it is going to e another armchair night tonight even though I find I cant get comfortable in the chair. because I tried lying down on the bed a little while ago and it was not good. the only thing wrong with snowie being on the sofa was that it seems every time I nodded off he was up and down. on and off of it and whining to get my attention as he has taken to doing lately.

Poor you Carol - I do hope last night was better :( Poor Snowy his age is definitely catching up with him ((()))

Christine my Mum used to blow a whistle down the phone. :?

Whisp looks fabulous - I will try to take some photos over the weekend once the men have gone. Bless them the ceiling star lights have been super hard to do, but Lucy had a peep and loves them.

It's Paul's birthday today so all the girls will be along for curry later :D

Well-done starting your course I am sure you'll do really well.

How scary that toggle incident - I think it's time you went to specsavers right enough!!!

We'll be under the cloak today for you ((()))

Thanks Barbara the colour Lucy chose is so calming :) Physio is so pleased with Lucy now - she said she almost has total mobility, BUT now is the time to work hard else she'll never get it back ever  . Lucy is now extra motivated :)

I hope the girls got home safely.

We are all ok here - worst things is tiles have blown off my Church - alright I know it's not mine, but I love it so much :(

Aidan the cloak has had a major steam and outside Doris aired it. Good job really as we need it this morning to go with Christine for her eyes :?

Last time we got to Wimbledon 2014 and we saw Andy Murray and Federer on court 1!!!! Ooh goose-bumpy thinking about it :)

I have had a hard time cordoning off the spiral staircase from Miss Sleek to stop her assessing the gloss painting!!

She was lucky not to have been hit by a tile from the Church roof - will they be insured? I left a message for Delphine our vicar.

Kath - Daisycat has read your post - she is after me buying tickets for her Pepe and the girls to go skateboarding down at the marina!!

Sure the ones off to the Marina would have been fine. 9 lives :D You know I can actually picture them :D

Joan I hope you were warm enough yesterday and stayed inside. Let me know if you want the bus out. :(

    Love to everyone

Early morning, just, to everyone. I hope storm Doris has not caused too much trouble. Looking at the pictures in the press, some places have had a wild time.

I think we would be ok on the cruise down the Danube Barbara, it is only three levels and there are lifts, everything looks to be nice and flat and being on a river would be better than on the high seas. The suites are quite large and super luxurious 8) 8)
I think I will be a wee bit jealous after tonight's cruise.

I hope you GD's phone is insured too.

I didn't see the Brit awards, but I can imagine it was an emotional time, I loved some of George's songs, he had a great voice, such a sad loss. I agree, I think he was always searching and never finding, if that makes any sense.

I hope your Gd's are ok and managed to land at Manchester, it might have been a bumpy one, but as long as they are safely back.

Hi Christine Thank you, I am sure my retinal photo's will be ok, from what I could see, through blurred eyes, I could not see any large bleeding vessels. :?
No, TPS is good, but, there are always a fair few who keep on adding new numbers to use to call people on. Apparently you can buy phone numbers in bulk and just keep scamming people ad infinitum. Pity they have nothing better to do.
Good idea to shout for the Sergeant and ask for a trace on the call, I will try that one :)

I hope the life coaching course goes well, which I am sure it will, lots of positive vibes and motivational encouragement :)

Oh dear, those toggles can attack you, :o when you least expect it. Bless, maybe a visit to the optician is in order, glad one is booked and that we will be there under the cloak.
Did I ever tell the tale of the lady in France, who had eyesight problems. If not, I will do another day. I thought I had, remind me, as I am forgetful and then some.

Sending lots of hugs to you Carol and to Snowie, hope you both feel better very soon, not sleeping and feeling rotten is just horrid and then when you do doze, our lovely pets wake us up. The cats are experts at doing that.

Happy Birthday to Paul, please pass on our congrats and cake :cake: I see Toni, another curry, no, I am not jealous, not one bit. Nor am I jealous that you saw Andy and Roger playing at Wimbledon. I am green, with envy, lol.

Glad that the physio was positive and Lucy is super motivated with her exercises. Way to go Lucy.
I am sure Miss Sleek would not get any paint on her at all, MUCH.:lol: of course when you cordon off an area, they want to go there even more.........
Tiles off the Church roof, nearly cracking miss Slimkins, oh goodness. Yes, they will be well insured, public liability and everything.

Of course it is your Church, the Good Lord and Delphine are more than happy to share :)

Yes, Pepe said he will Skype later and is in full agreement for the skateboarding

    cat-250112-02.jpg

Have given our new lady Joan123 a warm welcome and invited her to the cafe, where we share and care for one and all.

Ji Joan, I was reading about the lovely young lady who was killed by falling debris outside a coffee shop, during the storm. Terrible tragedy.
Did the Gas Man ever arrive? I, well, we all, hope that he did and finally you have heat from all your radiators. Toni and I are ready with the bus, at a moments notice.

Glad everyone landed safe and sound Barbara.

Our Niece and her partner came over this morning and met us all at the garden C, which was very nice. We had a light brunch, chatted, drank lots of coffee, then they headed back as her partners mum was admitted to hosp with chest infection.

Hi to everyone, Elizabeth, Kerrin, Mig and all. Take lots of care, better go feed his Highness.

Lots of love, fresh scones in the tin and some Yorkshire Scallywags. XX Aidan

    Evening everyone.

Feeling rather happy although shattered right now. My A netball team won all 8 of their matches today and finished top in their group. Even better they beat (as my caretaker said) the shouty mans team. B team won 2 lost 3 and need to play a few more in a few weeks time.

Jerry cat is on a mission to bring all the mice from the field into the house before eating them!

Well done to Lucy for staying motivated with her exercises.

    Cruising the Danube sounds lovely.

I hear talk about Wimbledon. Who is going? I got an email from Kent tennis last week asking if I wanted tickets so am hopeful.

Almost home, feel a power nap coming on, I'm shattered.

Power nap away Kerrin - you must need it :) Well done your teams :) I am so pleased for you :)

Daisycat says 'Go Jerry!' she is doing the same having said that she only eats the heads

'Tis me and husband going to Wimbledon :)

The young lady you mentioned Aidan is from near here so shocking :(

You haven't told us the tale of the lady with eyesight problems in France :)

We have a curry most Fridays and lucky Paul has his birthday on a Friday. Thank you for your kind wishes.

Delphine rang this morning to thank me for letting her know. She said they have a 'tame-roofer' so I am not to worry it will get fixed.

Miss Sleek would definitely get paint all over the house, but luckily it was the wallpaper today. I have photos. Will upload.

How much does that pusskin look like Diddicat!! WOW!!

Glad you've been to the garden centre with your lovely niece :),but I very much hope that her Mum is ok.

    Thanks for welcoming the Joan123.

Barbara thanks to you too bless you for being nice to the lady. She's struggling I think.

The church is mine yes only myself and next door (who are in London), can see it so well :)

Thanks for the happy birthday :)

    Glad GC's are safely home!

Joan Fingers crossed the gas man comes.

    Love to everyone

Carol, I really hope you get some more sleep tonight. It's a terrible feeling having no sleep. Unfortunately dogs don't keep still during the night. I remember mine seemed to be on the go all night.

Toni, I'd love to see the pictures of the bedroom. It'll look wonderful. Happy birthday to Paul. Hope you all enjoy your curry. Great to hear Lucy is doing so well. I know she will work super hard now. Your vicar is called Delphine. What a lovely name.

Joan, any luck with the heating? I hope they turned up today.

Barbara, sorry to send you shivers with my story of the toggle. Glad your GC are back home safely even if it is a quick return to work.

Aiden, it is shocking that people can buy lists of phone numbers like that. You would think it was illegal. You'll have to tell us the tale about the French lady. I don't think you have yet.

Kerrin, big congratulations to you and your netball team. Fingers crossed you get the Wimbledon tickets.

I went to the optician this morning. Thank you everyone for coming with me under the cloak. I had drops put in my eyes to widen the pupils. She had a really good look around and took photos. She wasn't too worried about my wavy lines, dots and flashing lights but she is referring me to the hospital for an eye scan. Apparently, I have the beginnings of a cataract in my left eye and a hole in the macular, the middle bit of the retina. Can't do anything about the cataract unless it gets much worse. She said I was a bit on the young side to have a cataract. The hole in the macular might possibly close on it's own so they might just keep an eye on it for a while. If it doesn't close on it's own, I'll need surgery.

I had someone round on Wednesday to give me a quote for new windows. I got it through the post today. The big windows are a third more than I expected and the smaller windows twice as much. Think I need to get someone else round.

    Evening to all :)

Hi Kerrin, I bet you are shattered, but with good reason, your A team are really pulling out all the stops, 8 matches in a row, way to go. Even better if they beat Mr Shouty Man's team. (empty barrels make a lot of noise):lol:
You have lots of meeces, ready for the eating of. Naughty puddy cat, has Diddicat been in touch, she is one for bringing gifts of voles and the like

I hope you get to go to Wimbledon, I would love to, but it is such a long way away, the journey would floor me.

The cruise with Jane, was wonderful, what a boat, well, more than that, I think Jane said it was a floating Dorchester hotel, it was very very VERY glam. On my bucket list of things to do.  Mind you, I have waited so long for my ship to come in, the pier has collapsed.

Enjoy the power nap - I tried and spent two hours thinking I must nap - typical.

Oooh, we are on page 1111 :) now I sound like a bingo caller, lol

See, I knew Miss Sleek would approve of the meeces, even if she only eats the heads

The poor lady is from your area, it was terrible, just outside the coffee shop. Bless her.

I always find pictures as near to Miss Slimkins as possible, takes some doing, but one aims to please :)

Oh, the lady in France. We had OH late Sister and family over, I was with BIL and Nephew, others were off noseying in one of the shops. We were sat outside the cafe, smoking, as is complusory in France, Suddenly, this elderly Lady, came crashing through a set of chairs, took out one of the tables and landed in a heap. Of course I rushed over to see how she was.

Other people helped and she was unhurt, which was a miracle. I asked her if there was anything she needed and she said "I am looking for the Optician's" (which was next door). Well, you know those moments when you just want to howl laughing and have to really bite your lip, it was one of those moments. I walked her to the Opticians and then I had to laugh out loud.........:lol::lol: :? I was chuckling for days. Poor lady.

Glad the roof is going to be fixed, tame roofers are good :) I am sure Rev Delphine was most grateful for you letting her know.

Neices MIL is ok, on IV ab's with a chest infection and fluid on her lungs, so, in the right place, will be in hospital till Sunday.

Looking forward to the photo's of Lucy's room :) Oh and thank you for freshening the cloak, Doris did a good job, there was a whiff of tuna :?

Hi Christine You had those same drops, stingy ouch, then pictures, I am glad that she was not over worried, but is sending you for a scan, which is a good idea. A hole in the macula is often left for a while, to see if it heals on its own. There are two methods of treatment, both done under local anaesthetic, which are very successful. Let's hope it is not necessary though. The RNIB have a lot of very good information on such matters.

I would get a couple more quotes for new windows, things are usually more than we expect though. I remember having a whole house done, many years back, doors etc, all for less than £3000, now, you can pay that for one door, eeek.

We managed an hour in the garden earlier, which was nice, I did some pottering and fussed where I could, OH did some serious tidying and clearing of winter "stuff". Looking much smarter now.

Well, I must move, I am setting like concrete in mid summer. N Night all

Everyone take lots of care XXXX Aidan

That poor lady!! I have to say I don't know how you kept a straight face :? I bet you laughed on and off for days. I hope the opticians helped her.

I'm glad niece's Mum is in hospital and getting treated. I hope she is feeling way better now.

The Rev Delphine is a lovely lovely lady. So softly spoken, but also funny with a good sense of humour. Always concerned about Lucy.

I am glad you got outside for an hour the sun was WARM! I nearly braved the garden to collect up the debris from Doris's visit, but instead cleaned up here from the decorator's visit. Flooring going down next Thursday and Friday.

Christine Delphine is as lovely as her name suggests.

Thank you the curry was great as was Paul's birthday :)

I am so glad the optician is being so thorough. It sounds as though she will be keeping a very close eye on you. We didn't mind being under the cloak we had got used to eyes after Aidan's trip the day before  If you need surgery we will be right hear with you ((()))

Gosh yes extra quotes are in order for your windows!!

Joan - I hope when you pop in (any minute now ;) ) you tell us the job is finally done!!!

    Love
