Afternoon to one and all. A bit chilly, so ramped the heating up, now wait a while and I will be having hot flashes...........

Pepe said all is ok for a flying visit, while we are napping later on. The weather is calm, low cloud though, so keep the GPS on Miss Sleek.

It is a waste isn't it Toni, but, the shops that they deliver to are very fussy about sell by dates and if they don't have 4 days on them, they send them back  Hence they go in the skip. The food banks used to collect a lot of good food, but now they want it hand delivered and won't come for it. Anyway, he arrived with 6 trifles this afternoon. :D Asked if we needed any more GIANT cookies and I said no, I will be like a gable end at this rate.

I will give some to B and SIL tomorrow. I think I know who is coming and when. :? :? We will have to nip out, get some more food for his Lordship and some bits from Sainsbury's, before everyone appears in the afternoon. That's the plan anyway.

Yes, the mobility is amazing and as you say, building up the muscle strength is something we all try and try again. Lucy must be thrilled along with all of you.

Hi Joan, how is your foot? It will be sorted very soon now, time flies.
How are the radiators? I hope they are working and the boss has decided that you need a new boiler. If not, we are on the way.

Goodness Kath, that is some price hike, a lot of drug companies hold the NHS to ransom I am afraid, hence some areas just cannot afford to give the best treatments available to patients. It is SO wrong and annoys me intensely.
There should be a regulatory body, (not the national institute of clinical excellence) that prevents drug companies raising the price of drug therapies out of all proportion.
People have to turn to go fund me and other charities, or go to the USA for some treatments, again, that is wrong, very wrong. Sadly it is a bit of a postcode lottery.

Sorry, I am on a roll, I will shush now.

Poor delivery man, all wet through, bless. I guess they get used to it, a bit like the posty man / lady.

We have rain too, in fact the forecast looks to be a wet week. Never mind, better than snow.

Hi to everyone else, Christine, Carol, Mig, Elizabeth, Kerrin

Some cakes for afternoon T love to all XXX Aidan

Glad you enjoyed a selection of calorie free cakes Barbara. There will always be more.

Saying that, we have a cupboard full, scones, cookies, plus trifles. BIL and SIL are coming tomorrow, with Mum n Dad, after they have been out for a bite to eat. We have had our fair share of eating out this past week, so we will let them enjoy and then come in for goodies and cups of T.

Did you watch the last cruising with Jane, in Alaska, what an amazing experience, I need to go............let it go, let it go, sorry, singing along :lol: It has been a very enjoyable series and I hope there are many more, Jane is so personable. We know Wakefield quite well, (where Jane lives), we used to go out on the town every week end :? could not keep pace now,

What have you been Googling, it is very informative, but sometimes a wee bit scary. Have not heard of intrahealth, but it sounds a sensible thing to offer patients the option.
We can always get an appointment on the same day and the surgery offers extended hours, I think the first appointments are at 0730  :? I would never make it for that time.

Wishing everyone well, Carol, Mig, Toni, Kerrin, Joan, Elizabeth, Christine and all. Nearly time for tennis from Accapulco.

AW Aidan!! ickle meeces!!! Adorable :D

Our Drs has early opening. If I want to see my fav Dr sometimes I have been there for 7am!! It is very hard, but worth it. Straight in and out :)

You have a freezer full of treats for today's guests don't you?

Miss Slimkins will be over later to see Pepe and the girls and do some circat training. Pepe has some new gliding tricks to show her..... :? Apparently they didn't do much yesterday just watched some tennis and ate tuna??

We had a curry out last night as Lucy has gone to see her friend for the weekend :)

What a lovely cake-stand that was I could eat it empty all on my own!!

I am astonished that foodbanks are turning down good food just due to transport. :(

Barbara I am not sure whether Lucy will be going back to her hairdressing...as yet she's not ready to make her decision as she's worried about the strength of her arm. Time and exercise will tell

I thought the last colour too dark too - she is pale!

I haven't heard of intrahealth - a quick google indicates they are Northern just yet. If you've had a recommendation I think it will be really good :)

Kath that is disgusting to read. I understand new drugs costing a lot as they are recouping the cost of inventing them.....but hiking a price up like that is atrocious :x

Thank you I think Lucy is rather gorgeous too :)

Joan did that gas man actually have the nerve to suggest you move your bed into the lounge because they haven't fixed the heating???

    I am shocked!

Of course we all think about you ((()))

    Love to everyone

everything is working well so far.
Barbara the gas man said he should move is bed in our bungalow then he could fix it. I will be there when you have your ENT appointment.
Toni I have had an a doctor's appointment at 7-30 you have to ring the door bell. I hope you have a good weekend what ever the weather's like.

Please may I put in a word on behalf of food banks? I'm familiar with ours as Mr SW is a volunteer.

They are often run from church halls so fridge and freezer space, when available, is extremely limited.

Therefore, perishables (bread, milk, eggs etc) are bought each day, once they know the needs of the people who are being referred for food, so that there is no waste.

People have to be properly referred to a food bank, their requirements are assessed and they are told when to come. They can't just rock up anytime and take what they want.

Round here, and probably elsewhere, local churches man (and woman) the food banks on a weekly rota. Each church manages their own rota for the week. Volunteers know in advance when they are on duty – always in twos for their own safety. They couldn't just be called on to go out to fetch in a bakery's surplus even if they had somewhere to store it.

I hope you don't mind me butting in like this  I don't normally look at the cafe thread but I was shattered and needed a cuppa and a sit down and the forum was deserted so I explored.

Anyway, how come a cafe can't use all the bakery's food

you are not butting in at all SW, lovely to see you. I totally understand your point about food banks and not having the space to freeze or store any excess stock.
I only get one side of the tale, so someone might well drop some off and next door is not aware. You are right, we can use it all in here. Good idea
I will be force feeding our relatives this afternoon. They don't know it, yet.......

Your heating is working Joan, all the rads and boiler, way to go my Gas man for sorting it out. At last you can be toasty warm. Have a good week end, both.

Weren't those meeces cute Toni, I could not resist them, all snuggled up.

I guess you are in and out and no one about at the early appointments and if I needed to go see my own GP, I would be up and off, even if OH had to wheel me in there :? :?

I must ring and make an appointment. I have to see my Consultant Cardiologist this Wednesday, for my 6 monthly checks and 12 lead ECG - he likes to compare and contrast each time I go and scours the readings for any changes. If anyone could find them, he would. Wonderful kind man. When he retires I will be bereft.

The weather is much better today, although more rain is forecast later, so Miss Sleek will need her rain gear on. Pepe has been carpet gliding, (he got too hot sat in the sun, so had to glide around the lounge to cool off :lol: ) He has some new tricks, which usually involves claws and carpets.

Hope the curry was good, nice that Lucy has gone to stay with her friend for the week end, even though you will be worrying.

The cakes were very nice, I have taken the EMPTY stand away now, so will replace it with another.

    afternnon-tea-1.png

I am sure Lucy will make the right decision about career's. If progress carries on as well as it is going, then maybe a test out of hairdressing, see how it feels. I know she was upset when she had to put things on hold.

Well, I had better move, everyone will be here soon, beautiful day at the moment. Will go fuss in the kitchen and make sure bathrooms are as clean as they were an hour ago :lol:  images-9.jpg

Hope everyone else is ok, thinking of you all, take lots of care XXX Aidan

Hello sticky, lovely to see you in the cafe, I'll turn the heating up a bit. I'm a member of the local Co-op, and they run a scheme where excess members reward points are turned into cash and donated to a community charity. Mine go to our local foodbank which is held in what used to be a shop (all boarded up for security) so quite a lot of space. They do wonderful work. I wish I could support 2 charities, my other choice would be Newspapers for the blind. I support so many charities!

Our doctor doesn't open until 8am.

Aidan, I had to smile at the meeces. Hope Pepe et al are too full of Tuna to be bothered with them. :animal_busy:

Barbara, DIL assures me her new chap is 'awesome' and makes her very happy. I need a few cakes from Aden's cake stand, we did the Long Eaton route this morning.

    Hi everyone.

In Saturday after swimming zombie mode. Need to keep at it though as it keeps prevents the ole body from stiffening up.

Overnight stay in London was good (nice room) and so was the training yesterday on ADHD. Very interesting.

OH has a cold, he'd better keep it to himself. I haven't felt quite right all week, still have quite a bad headache.

All this talk of cake is making me hungry. Lunch is a cooking.

    Morning everyone :)

Raining again today so no village cleanup and I'd bought a cheap pick up stick from home bargains too!!

The Rev Delphine has broken her elbow :(

Last night we went to the next village for a performance. Audience participation. Like productive heckling really - no getting up on stage.

Hi Barbara Lucy can do that makeup. Contouring I was thinking maybe she can 'hide' the jowls!!!

I hope you enjoyed your cuppa and natter out.

We have only really had a wet and windy winter here. Farmers might say it won't be a good summer. I hope they'd be wrong!!

Kerrin you are right about exercise keeping things moving. the physio says Lucy can swim after next week too once she hits the magic 6 weeks.

Sounds like you learnt something new on your training.

I hope OH (fiancé) keeps his cold to himself.

Well-done Kath doing the Long Eaton Route!!! I hope DIL's chap is indeed awesome and treats her like a princess :)

Aidan yes for the best GP I am prepared to get up super-early. It takes a while for the bones to get going doesn't it ?

The meeces were soooo sweet!! I love them :) I have a bird to remove from the conservatory floor when I can get down there :? Luckily no dormice today :)

Yes you must see the cardio. You missed an appointment last month didn't you? Get it booked while he's still practising.

Daisycat had her mac and galoshes on no problem. I think she likes flying in rain it's wind, fog and snow she hates. I heard about the new carpet gliding tricks.

Do any of yours do the scratch-post-twist? Mistress Sleek does it when there are visitors here. Her party-piece so to speak!!

I think the bathrooms probably were as clean as before?

Lucy being away meant she will come back to the basement floor being done and pristine now c/o me!!

It's ok Stickywicket I think we know how food-banks work and no-one was criticising honestly just lamenting at wasted food which people in desperate need didn't get.

    Such a shame :(

Everyone is always welcome to come into the café regular or not there's an endless supply of cuppas for us all.

    u030.gif

I'm making pancakes if anyone fancies one?

Yes Joan I have to ring the side door-bell and the cleaner lets me in if I go early!!

So there were two gas leaks. Scary! I am glad all seems to be working now :D

    good-morning-to-gf-photo.jpg

Having missed leaving a good night picture, I had better send a good morning one, before it it afternoon.

Hi Kath, hope you are ok and not too achy. There are so many charities that are so deserving and so mane people do such great work, often unseen to the public. I know a lot of the "stars" give a huge amount of money away, people often knock them for having all the money, but they do help a lot of people behind the scenes and spotlights.
Yes, Pepe had even more Tuna yesterday, so he is fished out for a few days, miss sleek as well.
So glad you DIL new beaux is awesome, that's great news.

Hi Kerrin I hope you are feeling a little less knocked out and recovering, ready to face another week - groundhog day I am sure on more than one occasion. As you say though, we keep going, or we grind to a halt. :?
Hope you have not caught OH cold and he is feeling better too.

Glad you had a good night in the big city and slept well. Sounds like the training sessions was very interesting.

Hi Barbara It was quite warm here yesterday, well, I was warm, melting in fact at one point. I am going to ask my Cardio if there is some reason why I blow so hot and cold. I seem to remember him saying many years back that my thermostat was up the creek. :?
It was lovely to see the Glaciers and Whales and those lovely Huskies. I think Jane was in lust with the man who looked after her on the sledge  It is remote, I am sure they said you can only sail up there up to September, after that, winter sets in and you are kind of marooned :? :? not sure I would like that.
Our visitors arrived quite late, they had all been shopping, didn't get here till after 3, which was later than we thought.
Still, I managed to force feed them cookies and gave the rest for them all to take home.

Mum's Brother and SIL cancelled and will try and get up next week end.
We had a natter, coffee, T, scones, etc. Mum brought more cakes, so I said, best take them home, I have a shed full.

Glad you enjoyed your coffee, which was actually a T, lol.

Hi Toni Poor Rev Delphine, I hope she recovers asap, bless.

No village clean up, not in the rain, no, not fun at all. I would be lots without my grabber, well, OH is here, but I do use it often.

Productive heckling, oh I could do that, lol. Glad you had a good time. At least you didn't have to get on stage.

It does take time to get going, some days are better than others, some I never seem to get going at all, well, my mind might be going, but the body won't keep up.
Oh a birdy to remove, Pepe said Miss Sleek had been hunting.
I did indeed miss my appointment last month with my Cardio, fortunately it worked well and he had chance to catch up from running late in the Cath Lab.
I Definitely know it is Wed, 2.30, I have umpteen reminders set. It is about a 45 min journey to the Clinic.
I was woken up to carpet gliding in the bedroom this morning........I told him Miss Sleek knows how to do it now, so je can stop, lol.
They bunny kick the scratch post, as it is on three levels, so they really get their hair off sometimes, as you say, if people are here, there is usually a performance of one description or another.

Miss Sleek was quite wet, Pepe had to get a towel when she arrived. I think they put the fire on in the lounge.

I bet Lucy was well made up with the new floor and everything pristine. I bet you did too much - :?

Pancakes, yes please, with Maple syrup and blueberries, thank you.

Hi Joan, so it was water leaks, I was worried then when gas leaks were mentioned. Hope they are sorted and everything is running as it should be.
We did have a nice visit from family, was tiring, even though they didn't stop too long (everyone knows we have naps early evening). I was quite jaded for the rest of the evening, I nearly fell asleep stood up in the kitchen  :? not like me at all.

Well, it is afternoon now, but the good morning wishes still stand, lol.
Hi to Carol, Mig, Elizabeth, Christine, SW and all. Everyone had as good a day as possible. Take care, I will post a n night later. XXX Aidan

Lovely calming gentle cup of tea picture thank you :D

Yes I did way too much Aidan, but want to do even more now!! I am controlling myself, just reframing pictures to match the new house.

Lucy will be back at about 5.30 I can't wait to see her face :)

Indeed Miss Sleek does know how to glide now. Apparently Pepe said you weren't to know about him putting the fire on to warm her up yesterday.

Aww how sweet your 3 do a party-piece when you have company too :)

Paul always says my thermostat isn't properly lagged. Perhaps yours is the same??

I have my own grabber too, but this one I bought especially to get dirty outside litter or other not so clean things. They are fabulous aren't they?

I hope you enjoyed your pancakes. :) and that you are recovering from all your visitors now.

    Wednesday cardio.

Joan Finally they have found the problem and now all should be well :D

I am sure Lucy will be over the moon and yes, I had an inkling you might have done a wee bit too much Toni.

I was told off for getting into the the bin / boiler cupboard, well, not in it, but cleaning the dusty bottom bit. I could hardly stand up and was even more dizzy then usual.  Well, we like to try and help. I won't be doing it again.

We must have dodgy thermostats, blowing hot and cold and it is only March.

Yes, we are having a quieter day today, not too much chatter, I cannot keep pace trying to listen to everyone when they are all going 10 to the dozen :?

Out for coffee and scones in the morning, pop into the Drs for a print off of my latest bloods for my Cardio visit. He likes to know what's going on.

Right, have a cuppa and help yourself to afternoon cake. I am off to dispense my 4pm pills.

    Love to all.

Good evening everyone. I had a quick look through the posts but my eyes are very blurry so it's not easy to read much so I'll just post a quick one. It was my niece's 15 month old daughter's christening this afternoon. She was adorable in a white sticky-out dress and seemed to really enjoy herself. She was a bit surprised when the vicar washed her hair. She kept shouting 'Oy' when he poured the water on her head. At the after do, she was up dancing to the music and chasing round after balloons. This was the first time all the family were together for quite a few years so it was a good day. :sun:

evening to one and all -

I bet Lucy was over the moon when she arrived home and found her room all done - big surprise :)
Take a bit of a rest now Toni, to recover after your busy time.

Hi Barbara - yes, all goodies have gone now, apart from two trifles - we have decided they have mystical powers that make you want to eat more than one at time. They are rather good, small, but enough, well, just about enough
I am sure we could melt an iceberg between us. Heating has gone up again this evening, felt a bit chilly, now I am lathered.
Jane does make me laugh, the song at the end, she is so camp, wonderfully so.
I did have two grabbers, but one has gone missing, I seem to have more gel cushions than anything else. Of course the cats like to sit on them and there is usually a race to get in to Daddy's chair.

The mirror is lovely, it looks very smart and a bargain too, we love a bargain. It sits well. in fact I like everything on your mantle piece :) very good taste.

Hi Christine sorry your eyes are blurry and making it difficult to read.
It sounds like you had a lovely time at the Christening, glad she enjoyed herself and was quite happy. Shouting at the Vicar, oh bless. Dancing and chasing balloons - sounds wonderful. Glad you had a good get together with all the family.

Well I will post, before midnight, goodness I am early tonight.

Hi to everyone, Carol, Mig, Elizabeth, Kerrin,
    Take care XXXX Aidan

Aww Aidan - a fwuffy bunny and mouse!! So sweet :D

Lucy loves her room yes. Once the paint fumes have died down we can look at getting her furniture in. I think we were both asleep by 10 last night - she'd had a busy time :)

Are you gel cushions cooling ones or heating ones? I have cooling ones in hospital when Lucy had one of her many infections. She was so thin she was only allowed one paracetamol and you can't have ibuprofen with blood cancer.

I think you should keep out of the bin/boiler cupboard, but OH must promise to do it for you  Under supervision of course!!

We need our thermostats lagged better.....what might help with that I wonder...? .....Got it! CAKE!!! :D

Morning Barbara the mirror is lovely! and the wallpaper is gorgeous too. Lucy would love that. She will be inheriting our cream ornate mirror from the old house. It's cream too but oblong so she can stand it, (trendily), on the floor

I am really pleased with the basement yes, but my friend is over later so today I will be more sensible I promise!!

Christine your niece's daughter sounds adorable!! Charley shouted to everyone that she'd got cake at home at hers and Lucy's :D

I've just checked my seedlings and I have 5/6 tomatoes up, 2 cosmos and loads of geraniums too :) Lovely. Must pop the begonia corms in soon too :?

Are you still thinking of some artificial grass? If so Home bargains are selling it now.

I hope your eyes are a little better this morning ((())).

Hi to Joan! I know you'll be in in a second :)

Thinking of our friends who haven't been in lately.

    Love

    Toni xxx

I'm expecting my pharmacist to ring me to discuss my meds. I can't settle to anything. Wish she'd hurry up. :?

Afternoon to one and all, a very bright and sunny day here, in fact I am melting  Don't even mention summer, we will have to move to Iceland.

First things first - Cake for our afternoon T

    Bakewelltartreshoot-Larger-Size-1-2c8d3a7c-37e1-466b-a3c1-1d5a8b117de4-0-1400x919.jpg

Some nice cherry bakewells, just the job.

I am so glad Lucy loved her room Toni - yes, let the paint fumes blow away a bit. They are not as bad as paint was years ago, used to half choke you. Goodness knows what vapours we were inhaling

The gel cushions are the chair ones, big and bouncy ones, like egg boxes. I might get one of the chillow ones for this summer, as I seem to be getting more hormonal by the day :? :? Cake will help though, you are quite right.

Bless Lucy, being so thin when in hospital, yes, drugs have to be titrated to weight ratio.

I will keep out of the bin cupboard but will supervise any cleansing that goes on :)

Good to hear that your seedlings are coming up well, lovely. It is a real Spring day today, the birds are singing, in fact the Viburnum bush was shaking there were so many Sparrows in there having a right old natter.:lol:

Hi joan, hope you and Sue are both ok and doggies and the heating - mind you, I could turn ours off it is so warm in the lounge, even the cats are legged out. We are having a lazy afternoon, well, in between compulsory pottering.

Kath I hope the Pharmacist has been in touch now, nothing worse than waiting for someone to ring or visit. Hope it is a lovely day with you and you have time to get out into the fresh air.

Christine, I hope your eyes are a bit easier for you today.

Carol, thinking of you and your OH and sending extra ((()))

Hi Barbara, hope you and yours are all as ok as can be.

Kerrin, you will have started another busy week, hope you are not too fatigued

Elizabeth, sending hugs and hope that all is ok and school run is more settled now with Dan and that Lucy is ok too.

Mig I am sure you are out and about, busy, any plans for another trip somewhere or visit to the Theatre Royal.

Who did I miss, apologies if I have, but I always leave spare hugs.

Went out for coffee and scones this morning at the GC with Mum n Dad, picked up my drugs from the Surgery, also got my recent blood results printed off for the cardio consultant on Wed. Didn't need any shopping, just a couple of packs of cigs (I know, the shame eh).

The dryer has stopped so I will go potter once more and by then it will be pill time, it is always pills time - an endless round - no wonder we all feel half baked most of the time.

Love to all Everyone take lots of care XXX Aidan

I rang the pharmacist in he end. She is going to menton some preservative free gel for my eyes, to use alongside hypromellose. She will also mention my Carbicisteine isn't working, as they might stop them.
