Cream or custard both available for the self saucing pud Aidan ta v much
Tosca and Sleek are at Rosie's via the gate as I type. Rosie is showing them all round ( mother is doing her instant sleep spell on Charley and Annie).
I have had another snapchat of Rosie asleep on the sofa
Rosie had a cat chat of the Andromeda frozen rock and is getting tempted to venture out soon. Not yet you understand but soooon!
Tommy was an angel according to Sleek and the same said by Tosca who was most touched by her heather!! He really is coming along you know. He has his own broomstick and apparently has stopped falling off now. Absolutely Minerva insists on no catteine fir him yet though.
Hmmm....Dad hasn't got energy nor a good appetite...
At least Matron has him drinking.
Typical ot should rain after Hilde has had her bath bless her.
I have had so.e sloppy green cat sick to attend to on my computer chair...so I am on my phone!!!
Barbara I hope it didn't snow? Its chilly here loads of rain I have the fire lit.
Well do e getting your laptop I cant use mine my chair is wet from being cleaned cat sick see above
We have heating its Charley who doesn't bless her. Our new boiler will go in on 27th.
Isn't it reassuring that our most vulnerable have access to special ABs.
Joan I am pleased Lexi is back eating again!
Love to Kath and Carol mig and Crinkly

Hi to all t4591 t4591 Not quite as cold as last night - in fact, with the heating on and the dryer, I was in my own summertime again
Hi Toni Cream and custard will be fine thanks Toni - a little of each, don't want to appear gluttonous
Rosie enjoyed showing Mother and Sleek around her new house - all rather tentatively, but Mother showered her in calming sparkles t115006 t115006 While Charley and Annie slept :animal_busy: it was an instant sleep spell, I think "the ice rock" had something to do with it - Mother said that its coldness, sets the spell, which then works perfectly. Go Mother
Then you had a snapchat of Rosie asleep on the sofa, all settled, bless her - not letting on that she had had visitors
Sleek and Mother did spend some time, looking at the Moon - said it is far nicer to look at, than to go to.
They did show "the ice rock" to Rosie. Oh, from Andromeda I see - it is a lovely galaxy - Rosie knows it - who knew
Just how many wizard puskins are there t115006 t115006 t115006
Mother has the heather, in a little vase, in the living room of her ottoman  most touched she was and very proud of Tommy t4591 t4591
Minerva is gradually teaching him the ways of the broomstick, as you say, he can actually perch on it safely.
Dad was in bed when B went round and just after 830 pm  He was ok, had his pills and B made sure all was safe. He will be up at 4am, I bet you.
I was determined to get him to drink plenty - food is a bit of a worry, but fluids are always a greater concern. :? :?
Oh, rain, well, typical, when Hilde was all gleaming. Not to worry, it is not the season for set fair weather.
As long as she looks gorgeous to show our Niece and partner
Oh, Sleek, on Mummy's chair, don't they just choose their spots perfectly. If you had a wooden floor, the size of a concert hall, they would find the little shag pile rug
So your new boiler goes in at the end of this month, perfect timing, for the festive season and the coldest months ahead. Our plumber is coming over soon, to put a new tap in the kitchen.
Hi Barbara - hope you are all ok. I bet you were in bed earlier, after your super late night on Friday :animal_busy:
:animal_busy:
Extra hugs to all (((()))) and some sparkles from the forest
Hi Carol - sending lots of (((()))) and sparkles to you all t115006 t115006
I hope you are not too ouchy Kath - Sleek said she had been over and done all your obser vayshions  I think the possums are heading your way too, for some gentle massage therapy t4591 t4591
Hi to everyone else, in and about.
A quiet evening, some washing / drying. Caught up with the tennis. The men's top 10 players, end of year finals, start today, from the O2, so looking forward to that.

Good morning!
Not so chilly out this morning luckily and it seems to have stopped raining finally t111055 Hope Barbara is ready for the service this morning at St James'
Aidan a little cream and custard is not gluttonous at all quite the reverse it's only polite
The rock sounds very useful - I wonder whether Mother will use it on you at siesta time? How are your sleeps going? Rosie has been to Andromeda?! Wow! Obviously before she had her bad experience and developed cataphobia :?
Tosca and Sleek each held a paw while Rosie showed everyone round. They saw Rosie's new (very big) climbing thingy and her bed and checked out her litter (it passed) as well as food and sweets. Sleek told Mother that Charley (snoring quietly) is her own big sister t4591
I believe Minerva will be taking tommy's stabilisers off soon. AS you know Jessie cat does not need this help at all
Hmmm....will Dad drink soups maybe and hot chocs with full-fat milk? That might help. Oh BTW when is his apt with urology I need to put it in the diary.
My chair is dry so I am sat back on it now smells fresh as a daisy! How do they find just the 'wrong' spot to barf on? She's even done it on Lucy's spiral staircase in the past
Will it be the dishy plumber who puts the tap on? If so - who broke the tap
The kettle is on to go with the muffins coffee or tea available whichever is each of our personal preference t4591
Hello-ooo! to Joan and Sue did you have much rain yesterday? Most of the fields here are lakes and have swans on them
Love to everyone
PS Sleek has done Kath's obs and was happy enough - just. Possums and bush-babies were there. Tesco had delivered plenty of jammie dodgers

Poem of the day
The Eagle
BY ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON
He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring'd with the azure world, he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Hello all, sorry I didn't make it in yesterday but I felt really ill due to the fact I had become uncovered on Friday night. My back seemed to fall out with my duvet and I got a chill on my kidneys. I felt really awful. Thank you for all the messages. t4591
Joan, I'm glad to hear Lexi is well.
Toni, yes Sleek looked after me very tenderly, making sure I had enough attention from the bush babies.
Aidan, my dad is awake at 4am, but after going to the loo he settles back for a bit longer. He's still on Movicol but seems to think he might be taken off the Pred next week (he takes 3 a day. I tried to explai that you just don't stop Pred because you have to gradually reduce them. Sometimes he understands but others he thinks I'm talking jibberish. He's probably right most of the time. I'm glad to hear that dad is OK too.
WOW, thank you for the muffins mi duck.
Barbara, thank you for the hugs. I hope GDad and your brother are OK and that you are keeping warm.
Sending Carol and mig warm wishes too.
Vegan Spicy Lemongrass Soup
Ingredients
For the Marinated Tofu
1 block tofu, pressed and cut into 1/2 inch thick slabs
1/4 cup tamari
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp coconut sugar (or maple syrup)
1/3 cup water
3 cloves garlic, smashed or finely minced
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp oil
For the soup:
1 tbsp oil (I used grapeseed)
2 green onions, white parts chopped diagonally into 1-inch pieces, greens finely chopped
1.5 tbsp (or 4 tsp) Thai red curry paste
1 tbsp finely minced lemongrass (I used frozen, but fresh works too)
1 L vegetable broth (I used 1 L water + ~1 tbsp mushroom broth powder)
3 stalks celery, sliced thin on a diagonal
3 bunches mung bean noodles (glass noodles), soaked in hot water until softened
1/2 cup snap peas, roughly chopped
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
3 cups baby spinach (or greens of your choice, like bok choy, yu choy or mustard greens)
1 lime, juiced
Instructions
For the marinated tofu:
Combine tamari, apple cider vinegar, coconut sugar or maple syrup, water, garlic, and onion powder.
Submerged cut tofu in marinade and let sit in the fridge for at least an hour.
To cook, fry up tofu in oil until golden on each side. Use some of the marinade while cooking to add extra flavour.
To make the soup:
Soften glass noodles in hot water until softened, then drain.
Preheat a pot over medium heat. Add oil and fry onions until translucent.
Add red curry paste and lemongrass and fry until fragrant. You may need to add a little water/broth to help the paste dissolve. Add the rest of the broth (or water + mushroom powder) and bring water a boil.
Add celery and cook for about 3-5 minutes, until just tender with a tiny bit of crunch.
Add drained and softened noodles to the pot and cook for another 3-4 minutes under tender.
Add snap peas and chopped tomatoes and stir, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
Stir in baby spinach until just wilted.
Remove from heat and serve with half of a juiced lime in each bowl. Top with fried marinated tofu, and enjoy!"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

t111055 t111055 Hi to all t4591 t4591 on a chilly and wet evening.
It has been a pleasant day weather wise, now we are in a bit of a storm - c'est la vie.
Sorry I didn't get chance to post much earlier. The day ran away with us, with visitors and GC visit.
Hi Toni - I hope that your had a lovely Remembrance service at the Church, everyone in good voice and the Rev Delphine caring for her Congregation t4591 t4591
Mother has been very non plussed today. Niece and partner have two cats and as soon as Mother got a whiff, she took herself off to bed (on my bed) and would NOT come back out.
Although she doesn't dislike them, they are "land cats" and Mother was feeling rather aloof, so could not stay in the same room -
As soon as everyone had gone, sure enough, she came back in. What is it with puskins, they have more than a 6th sense. t115006 t115006
She tried the "rock" at siesta time, didn't work, at all
Sleeps at siesta are hit and miss, more often miss, than a hit. That week, a while back, must have been a fluke of nature.
Yes, Rosie has been to Andromeda and spoke of the conservative number of solar systems at 100 billion - no, I didn't ask, my brain would not compute it.
She phoned Mother to tell her that hoomans have no idea about the universe
Mother approved of Rosie's climbing centre, the litter was fine and the sweets were of high quality. She knew about Charley ssshhh- but gave appropriate mews and purrs
Dads appt is on the 26th. Eating and drinking is a concern. He had had some snacks, when B went round this evening, chicken and drinks, so that was something. We keep a super close eye on what is in the fridge and what is in the bin.
He would not eat, at the GC, even ice cream, he only had a teaspoon. You can lead horses to water :? :? Oooh, there was Ferrero Rocher cake today, blissssssssssssssssssssssssss
It is a day to day challenge, but, we are up to is and have been there before, with my Mum, Dad and B's Mum too. Little steps.
Good to know that your cushion is once more, fresh as a daisy - puskins know just the spot, to have a billious moment
Coffee with the muffins, ta muchly
glad Sleek is checking in on Kath and doing her obs, the last set, cake down the chimney, on a huge chart - goodness, she checked for everything
Hi Joan and Sue - hope you are both ok and keeping nice and warm Thank you, as always, for the hugs and kind thoughts, you are both very special indeed t4591 t4591
Oh, the cost, if we all had to pay for our medical care - a missed appointment, costs the NHS about £160.
A basic cost of a bed, per day, is a minimum of £500,
way more if you are on high dependency, specialist unit, then it runs into thousands. I think people forget sometimes, the NHS has its flaws and problems, which the media focus on, they rarely speak of the tireless work that goes on, 24 hours a day.
We need more Matrons like Hattie Jaques
Hi Kath, thank you for the lovely poem, Tennyson, a wonderful poet
Sorry you have been feeling really off. Getting cold is horrible, leaving you chilled and feeling rotten. Sending loads of (((()))) and some beautiful sparkles
So Dad wakes up at 4 as well - same as Dad here. Trouble is Dad sleeps in the day time, he always has nodded off at the drop of a hat.
We don't try and explain all the in's and out's of the pills etc. Movicol is quite a good aid to the system, not too harsh  :? Pred. yes, stop it slowly, unless it has only been a short course.
Your welcome mi duck, glad you enjoyed the muffins gerrem downya
Thanks for that gorgeous soup, just perfect for the chilly days / evenings.
Hope you feel more comfortable today t4591 t4591 t4591
Hi Barbara - Glad you enjoyed the remembrance, at the Cenotaph. Chairs for those who need, very good, very welcome too. There was a big turn out in town here and in Skipton. Always well attended, as is fitting.
Oh dear, Gdad was poorly, so could not come home. Hopefully today - you are right, no one is left a moment longer than is necessary.
I well remember patients being in for 10 days when they had their gall bladder removed - now, you are out same day if they can get you up and about
I am not surprised his Daughter is worried, with her working long shifts.
Will the D /nurses be coming in to check on his dressings etc. Plus the cardiac rehab nurse I would hope :? He will feel quite scared when he first comes home, after such a big op, you are reassured that there are nurses and drs there all the time, then suddenly to be at home.........bless him, some extra prayers for him, he will be ok t4591 t4591
If you want a jug of custard with the pudding, you go for it, we need soul food like soups and big sticky puddings.
We will just have to take each day as it comes with Dad and his eating and drinking. We have all been there, it is a challenge to say the least. Thank you for the hugs ((((()))))
B is busy, when we are "at home" days, nipping round to Dads morning afternoon and evening. Necessary though. it is a good job he is so close to us.
It had been a nice day, but the wind and rain is lashing down now.
Niece lives about 50 minutes away, so not too far. To Skipton and on towards Bradford.
Your Brother is plodding on, how is is chest infection, improving I hope. Extra ((((()))) as always
Hi Carol - hope you are both ok and taking care. Leaving lots of (((()))) and t4591 t4591 How are all the Gc and GGc. Not too long to go before your visit.
Hi to Mig and Crinkly and all our friends t4591 t4591
Well, I guess I should do some more pottering. Just shopping this morning, then back home.............
Time to leave lots of love and sparkles to all t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 Take care XXXXX Aidan
Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls
XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Oooh! What is that for my breakfast Aidan?! Cinnamon rolls!! ooh yes please I'll have one or seven.....Noo Noo!
Lovely to see your niece and her OH even if she did smell of cats.
Oh dear Land cats eh? Well Sleek cat be funny about them too although she has been out, on her broomstick, trying to search for my new neighbours' missing Bengal :? Poor Tosca Sleek told me all about it
Apparently the rock won't work on certain peeples only at certain times or with something else if you need to nok them owt… Rosie knows more that you think that cat! She has bee very confident around her new home and is now opening her gate and peering through on her own and has even unpacked her wand for the first time in 6 years!!
There she is on the phone to Mother! The dear girl She calls her 'Mother' too :animal_busy:
Ok 26th then not too far off I am worried now about him with his not eating. Has he lost his appetite? Does he already feel 'full'? You two are doing a great job getting something down him, but if it carries on.....
Ferrero rocher cake? sigh....Those eclairs were wonderful just the right amount of cream - yes I DID say that
Are you happy enough with Kath's obs? Sleek went twice in the night and then first thing this morning too.
Barbara I expect GDad's daughter wanted him home over the weekend so she could settle him before work today  It will likely be today now though these days they want those beds back!
Your Remembrance service sounded lovely and good there were chairs. We have an old boy from a nearby village who comes to all our dos. He was there on the Beaches and he also went on the cruise so he told us all about it yesterday in Church it was wonderful.
HE thanked US and said it had been a privilege to fight for us
WE managed ok without you the sisters behaved and wore the correct attire and poppies. One had one in her hair, but was told to take it off
Kath lovely poem that paints a vivid picture for me.
Sleek is still keeping an eye she may well try to pop by for a while at night to make sure you're tucked in properly. Bush babies and possums will leave when they think they can leave you.
Fancy a visit to the manatees later? Nice and warm there?
Bless you Dad! I'm sure 'they' will take him off his steroids safely. Another awake at 4am! I was too actually so could have checked on all Dads
The soup was lovely Kath - have you tried the smoked tofu? It's actually rather nice and I think would go really well in this soup.
Joan how kind of you! the heaters would be for Charley in her new house, but she's coping with 4 heaters and one 'real' fire in the L room ((()))
Love to everyone

Poem of the day
Stevie Smith's most famous poem is "Not Waving but Drowning" She seems to write in a morbid style which doesn't suit everyone.
Northumberland House
BY STEVIE SMITH
I was always a thoughtful youngster,
Said the lady on the omnibus,
I remember Father used to say,
You are more thoughtful than us.
I was sensitive too, the least thing
Upset me so much,
I used to cry if a fly
Stuck in the hatch.
Mother always said,
Elsie is too good,
There’ll never be another like Elsie,
Touch wood.
I liked to be alone,
Sitting on the garden path,
My brother said he’d never seen a
Picture more like Faith in the Arena.
They were kindly people, my people,
I could not help being different,
And I think it was good for me
Mixing in a different element.
The poor lady now burst out crying
And I saw her friend was not a friend but a nurse
For she said, Cheer up duckie the next stop is ours,
They got off at Northumberland House.
This great House of the Percies
Is now a lunatic asylum,
But over the gate there still stands
The great Northumberland Lion.
This family animal’s tail
Is peculiar in that it is absolutely straight,
And straight as a bar it stood out to drop after them
As they went through the gate.
November 1964

Joan, sorry for not explaining properly, I don't have a cold. I got a chill on my kidneys - caused a lot of pain. I hope you and Sue are still nice and warm.
Toni, Sleek is a marvelous nurse, trained by our own matron I believe. I never know she's been to do my obs as she's so gentle and quiet. Yes I need my back well covered and the Bush Babies and Possums are helping nicely. Of course, a paddle with the Manatees, just the thing. I understand what Sleeks perscripshun meant now. " swimin with Man a ties and Dug ons for 1 hour daily an keep rapt up warm." Bless.
Aidan, Rosie is right, hoomans have no idea about the universe, well I don't anyway and although I am part Kat, I'm mainly hooman. I'm glad you're happy with my obs cake from Sleek. Thank you for the sparkly Roses and chocolate Cinnamon rolls.
Barbara, So your brother is getting married how lovely - it's good to have something to look forward to. I bet your GD is anxious about her Gdad. t4591 t4591
Oh look, it's started raining again - for a change. It's a good job the rain held off during yesterday's Remembrance Ceremony.

HI to all t4591 t4591 It's a BIT wet :? :?
Hi Toni - rather nice, those cinnamon and chocolate rolls, only 7 ish, that's very good
Oh bless, I hope your neighbour finds their missing Bengal :? :? I will ask Silver to spy from the sky, as well as Miss Sleekness out on her broom t115006 t115006 t4591 t4591
Mother seems to have recovered from her whiff of land cats and is back in the room, eating and shrieking and throwing litter - all normal once more    They are very "sensitive" to different vibrations, in the puskin world t115006 t115006
Mother said she will try and sleepy spell, with some extra ooomph later on. :? :? either that or a mallet
I thought I heard the gate open, about 5am, (what on earth were we all doing up around 4- 5 in the morning) we should have put the kettle on) Rosie peeped round the corner - Mother pretended not to know, but she usually has one eye just slightly open, so as not to miss anything.
I think Mother is "Mother" to many many Hogwart scholars, having taken so many under her wing, in the past 100 or so years t4591 t4591
Rosie might be a little timid, at the moment, she said, but, she is a master with the wand and knows every spell, without referring to her books.
Dad came out with us this morning, not right, but he wanted to come. We made an appointment for him to see the Dr, before we went into town. A quick coffee in Costa, which he enjoyed, didn't fancy anything to eat, but he had just had a pork pie and plum sauce for breakfast  who are we, you eat what you want Dad.
We didn't dally, in Sainsb, he had to sit for the most part.
Dr has started him on furosemide, as his legs are way swollen. His sats were down a bit, so sign of chest infection, x ray on Thursday, at the little local hospital. More bloods. Keep on carrying on as we are doing. He said, "I am a pain" - no you are not, this is what we are here for, to look after you, we have done it for years, with parents needing lots of help.
He is safely back home, with snacks galore, nice and warm, but not too hot. B will be going round again later..............
Ferrero Roche' cake is just AMAZING - I was a happy bunny to see they had it back in at the GC, it sells out in no time.
Kaths obs were ok, slightly borderline on the "chilled" factor, but warming possums hands will help. Along with loads of (((()))) and sparkles.
I think Sleek is round there at the moment, re doing all known obs.
How lovely that one of the soldiers who was there, on the beaches, amidst all that fear and devastation, came to speak at the Church. We owe them our freedom and utmost respect. t4591 t4591
I guessed one of the Sisters would try and push the boundaries of what is becoming, in the Church, poppies in her hair, indeed.  :?
Hi Joan and Sue - hope you are not having the same weather as us, rain is clattering on the windows and the winds are really strong. Pendle vanished into the mists - it will be mighty blowy up there t111055 t111055
As you see, we are keeping on top of Dads needs, as best we can, with GP's etc all involved too. We do everything we can.
It is two years tomorrow, since Bills Mum passed I cannot believe where the time has gone. t4591
Keep warm, turn that heating up, just because you can m0150 m0150
Hi Kath - that is an interesting poem indeed. I will have to read it several times, it contains a lot of thought and reference. Thank you for sharing it mi duck.
Sleek has been a very diligent student nurse, (now qualified). So secret with her obs, no one knows she has been, not like Pepe, who was all for sticking needles and probes  Bless im.
Her prescription will be just spot on. Warming brackish waters, good for the skin and the warmth for your chilled kidneys t115006 t115006

I see you have rain too. Chuckin it darn   t111055 t111055

Hi to all t4591 t4591
It has finally stopped raining, very chilly now.............. :? Hope everyone is as ok as can be, keeping warm. We have two weather warnings for this week, high winds and more downpours   t111055
Mother finally got me to sleep for about half an hour, after waving her wand at me umpteen times   t115006 she had to call Sleek and Rosie, to boost the spell - Rosie was made up, that she could use her magic again, bless her. She is coming out of her shell nicely.
Dad was ok, he wasn't quite sure if it was night or morning, but, that's part and parcel of his health issues
My turn at the surgery this afternoon, my annual spirometry, diabetes check and natter with Sr. We will put the NHS to rights, as we always do. I want a copy of my blood results anyway, for my Cardiologist next month.
I have put a lovely picture of B's Mum on FB, two years since she passed, Bless her t4591 t4591
I am fidgety so I won't dally. Better off fussing and pottering I think.

A lovely vegan breakfast
XX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Another chilly morning here, but no ground frost so that's good...
Rosie is over the moon I went to visit yesterday and she kept looking out of the window (patio doors) and told me she helped get you off to sleep to help her friends She also admitted to visiting thorugh the gate in the small hours on her own!
Tosca will know what Rosie's capabilities are don't forget she has access to all the Hogwarts records! Good to know she knows all hers spells off by heart. She told Sleek that 'in the bad times' she practised them over and over. She hasn't forgotten that I saved her life when she had her kittens either...not sure what that might mean for the future :?
Gosh Aidan that's come round quick - I hope all goes well today and you have a good natter and try to put the NHS to rights if you can!! The cloak is ready if required.
What a vegan breakfast - thanks YOU!! Yes I only had 7 cinnamon rolls very well behaved don't you think? Oh my the Ferrero rocher cake! I would eat so much I'd be queasy! One lemon and almond cake was fine though ta v much
Poor Dad What a shame, but in some respects I am relieved as you knew something 'extra' was wrong. Good GP to crack on getting him sorted ((())) t115006 t4591 GET WELL SOON B Snr!
Sleek has been doing obs on Kath and has added Dad to her rounds. Will report back to Matron in due course.
Our service was lovely really special and of course he may not be here next year, but for the ex-soldier to speak on this special year was so poignant. Yes poppie sin here hair. You know who don't you? Immaculata!
Kath I did enjoy the poem thank you Not to maudlin at all
Yes Sleek has been and I'm glad you can read her prescription! Bless. Keep rapt up warm is probably the most important just now though.
That paddle with the manatees was fabulous I might just join you later again if I may.
More t111055 dry here today so far at least.
Ta very muchly for the soup it was spot on!
Lucy is doing just fine thank you Joan bless her Charley has the dentist this morning though after getting punched in the face by a confused patient

Poem for the day
1914 - 2014
Kathleen
Soldiers in the trenches
filled with thoughts of home,
of family and friends
wherever they may roam.
How tranquil is The Somme now
after war is done,
with blood red poppies dancing
in the autumn sun.
Names upon the war graves,
of those who gave their lives
as they fought to keep our freedom,
made the greatest sacrifice.
But they shall never die,
all those boys and men
because upon Armistice Day
we will remember them.
Better late than never.
Barbara, I'm glad you enjoyed the warming soup. I'm all for being warm right now and I have my blankie over my knees. Holly's lovely daddy gave her a lift down to the shops as it was t111055 t111055 as usual. When they got back, Vay had pulled her socks off. You know what toddlers are like. I hope the wedding talk will help take your mind off the sadness. She sounds a grand girl. t4591
Joan. dad is still on antibiotics and not back to his usual self yet. He's still having a blood test every Monday.
Toni, be my guest in the Manatee poolI'm not au fait with Manatee so speaking English, French and Double Dutch will be lovely. Yes, I'm keeping rapt up warm and I have my blankie over my legs. I think it might be one of Tosca's old ones because it smells of Lavender and Mackerel. :?
Aidan, I hope your Spirometry goes well. I'm all over that Vegan breakfast duck, ta. Martin rang this morning to confirm he'll be here at 9am sharp next Wednesday to do my fasting blood test ready for my Zolendrate infusion in December. Oh I'm so sorry dad has a chest infection. ((((HUGS)))) and prayers for you all.
Yes, Sleek has been this morning with a spare blankie for me. One of Mothers old ones perhaps?

Simon Rimmer's Vegan Lancashire Hot Pot
Ingredients
Sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, sliced
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 tbsp tomato purée
splash of soy sauce
200ml (7fl oz) Madeira
200ml (7fl oz) vegetable stock
2 tbsp barley
1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Vegetables
3 parsnips
3 carrots
5 celery sticks
200ml (7fl oz) vegetable stock
4–6 baking potatoes, peeled and finely sliced
150ml (1⁄4 pint) olive oil
Method
Heat the vegetable oil and fry the onion and garlic until soft. Stir in the tomato purée and cook for a further 5 minutes. Add the soy sauce, Madeira and stock and bring to the boil, then add the barley. Reduce the heat, cover and cook for 25 minutes, or until the barley is soft.
Peel and chop the parsnips, carrots and celery sticks attractively, then cook them in the stock for about
10 minutes until just tender. Par-boil the potatoes in lightly salted boiling water.
Stir the thyme into the sauce and season to taste. Layer all of the vegetables, except for the potatoes, in six individual pie dishes and spoon over the sauce.
Toss the potatoes in olive oil and season well, then layer these on top of the vegetables. Place the dishes under a preheated hot grill until the potato topping looks golden and crispy.
Serve with pickled beetroot or red cabbage."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hi to all t4591 t4591
I thought I had better write a short note, in case I didn't manage to get on later this afternoon. By the time we have been to Dads, been to my appointment (which can take for ever   )and come back home, it will be pills and T time.
Hi Toni I am glad Rosie was so pleased to see you, oh she is over the moon that her wand works well, a real scholar was Rosie.
So she did venture through the gate, bless her. I heard the door creak a little. She will soon be flying through, flinging litter The fact that you rescued her, is never forgotten and you are held in high esteem. t115006 t115006
Mother does have access to all records at Hogwarts, she has them on a yew ess bee stikk
I know, it is over a year since I last saw Sister J. I think it is nearer two years.  By all means, the cloak can come along Thank you kindly.
Glad you enjoyed the brekkie, it was rather good. I could happily eat ferrero rocher cake, until I was nearly green
Dad was a little brighter this morning, don't think he remembered seeing the Dr, but not to worry, he knows we keep on top of all the pills and appointments etc. Yes, the Dr was on the ball and very thorough. We do have a great team at the surgery, thank the Lord.
I will expect the obs charts to arrive later on, as Dad is on the list of Sleeks rounds now. She loves keeping tabs on peeples who need...........
I am so glad the elderly soldier was able to speak at the service, as you say, the numbers, who were there, fighting for our freedom, are becoming thin on the ground now. t4591 t4591
Typical of Sr Immaculata   Total Diva
We had rain overnight, pouring down, then so far it has been dry today and none is forecast for 10 days. We will see, I don't believe it myself............. :? :?
Ouch, hope Charley is ok and everything is ok at the dentist. It is an occupational hazard, when patients are confused etc. A & E used to be like a war zone sometimes, patients kicking off, usually because they were pickled   I have had a few cracks round the head over the years - probably hasn't helped with my spondylosis :? :?
Love to Lucy too and of course Tia and Paul.
Sleek is coming over while we are out, they have some SYTTD to catch up on and newly opened sweets to eat
Hi Joan and Sue Glad that you are nice and warm, it is going to drop cold at nights this week - stay nice and snug. Lovely that your heating is working as it should.
Thank you for the hugs (((()))), you are both very kind and thoughtful t4591 t4591
Hi Barbara - don't worry about not getting in here. When we are busy, we cannot do everything, although we try.
Poor Gdad, is there anything specific, post op, apart from pain and discomfort. It is not uncommon for people to loose their appetite after cardiac surgery. Sending him lots of gentle hugs and sparkles ((((())))) t115006 t115006 t115006
You missed the eclairs, ooooops, that might have been myself and Toni, hogging them   oh the shame. Apologies :?
Thank you for the hugs (((((())))) to you all, as always, we will keep on top of Dads needs as best we can.
True, the nearer some family are, the less you see of them. We see B's brother and SIL most often, then his Bro and family from London come up whenever they can, at least three times a year. Difficult when they are so far away.
Thank you, it is a lovely picture of Mum. I cannot believe the time has flown by. She will be watching and knowing that we are doing everything possible. t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006
Snow, when - mind you, it is cold enough now............. :? :?

Hi Kath, thank you for sharing your lovely poem, very fitting. Beautiful poem t4591 t4591
Glad you enjoyed the breakfast mi duck, it was rather good When we have one at the T room I will take a pic, so you can see how much you get
Glad you are keeping everywhere wrapped and warm, no more chills on those kiddleys, Sleek will be keeping an eye, without a doubt.
Martin is on his way next week, bright and early for your fasting bloods. Hope all is ok then, for your infusion t4591 t4591 ((()))
Thank you for the hugs and prayers, they are always much appreciated. t4591 t4591 Mother has donated one of her blankies, now we know where it vanished too

Hi to all t4591 t4591
Hope everyone is as ok as can be. It is a very calm and moonlit night
Thank you for being under the cloak at my appt with Sister J. She was on time, but, I do apologise for the length of time that we were in there   We got to nattering, then she had to go find the foot touch pen, to see what you can feel.
Sr was gone for ages - I was all set to pack up. Anyway, she came back, as normal, I couldn't feel a thing on my feet. Have to take extra care with them...........neuropathy is not something that gets better
Big do's and little do's, all my bloods were fine, diabetes is well under control - so I can still eat cake
It was so warm in her room that by the time she mentioned spirometry I said no, I am too hot and bothered and need to move. So, another time for that. I might change my inhalers, just have to think about it and let her know.
Didn't get in till going up for 5  :? :?
Hi Toni - Hope you are all ok. Sleek was over while we were out, they had a catch up on SYTTD and ate lots of sweets. They did ask Rosie to join them, but she was comfy on her sofa and Mrs D was fast asleep in her ickle bed :animal_busy: :animal_busy:
Word has it that Rosie may, if she feels up to it, join the girls on a trip up to Pendle this morning. Sleek has a larger side car on her broom now, two seater, with dual climate control and all the bells and whistles.
A promise of a visit to see the Nymphs, plus the rainbow droplet, seemed tempting to her. " a long time since I saw them all" she said " I have heard about the rainbow droplet - it holds many secrets" t115006 - does it? Ok, that's a new one......... Our puskins kept that one quiet.
Hi Barbara - how was your Brother and GF, when they came to natter about their up coming wedding? I hope he is feeling not too bad, with his AB's helping his chest.

Aidan Rosie was looking after her Mummy who had an emergency tooth extraction yesterday morning! Ouch and OUCH!!! She was very brave (as was Charley!!!) that's why she was asleep on the sofa - she was I have seen a photo c/o Charley's GF!!!
Sleek and Mother enjoyed a quiet afternoon in and are planning to do the same today although it seems Mrs D wil join them (Kari still has no heating, but is getting by with oil filled rads and electric fan heaters (4 in total). Mrs D and Kari each have their own electric blankets and luckily Mrs D has her own winter wardrobe of jumpers.
Rosie did it!! She got into the side car holding Mother's paw and huddled under the blanket!! and what a morning she had Fishy lattes a hero's welcome by the nymphs and yes you guessed it a visit to see the rainbow droplet!! Apparently she has been wanted to see it since Tosca caught it on her whisker t115006 t115006

Poem of the day
Jabberwocky, Lewis Carroll
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood a while in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
Oh frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
A favourite poem of all pusskins

Joan, oh dear, I hate snow and I hate the cold.
Toni, I quite like the smell of Mackerel. 8) Jack Savoretti is a brilliant singer, he started as a poet you know.

Turmeric Cauliflower
INGREDIENTS
1 large cauliflower
1 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp turmeric
4 cloves garlic
1/2 red chilli
2 bay leaves
4 1/2 tsp sea salt
2 Tbsp olive oil
250 g light tahini
250 ml water
40 ml lemon juice
30 g flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped
30 g dill, roughly chopped
30 g chives, roughly chopped
1 Tbsp toasted flaked almonds
1 Tbsp sultanas
1/2 tsp sumac
1 Tbsp pomegranate seeds
Method
Place the cauliflower, paprika, turmeric, 1 garlic clove, chilli, bay leaves, and 1 1/2 teaspoonfuls of the salt in a large pot of boiling water and blanch for around 7 minutes, until the cauliflower is tender but not mushy. Remove, discarding the water and flavourings, and set aside to cool to room temperature.
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Drizzle the cauliflower with the oil and roast on a tray for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Grate the remaining garlic cloves and whisk together with the tahini, water, lemon juice, and the remaining salt in a large bowl until combined. Place in a high-speed blender with the parsley, dill, and chives and blend until bright green.
To serve, cut the cauliflower into quarters and place one on each plate. Drizzle generously with the tahini sauce and top with the almonds, sultanas, sumac, and pomegranate seeds."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Ouch, big ouch, for Charley having to have a tooth out - wisdom tooth as well..........lots of lidocaine Sleek said that Rosie had to be at home to be on paw for medd ickle matterz  And Rosie was on the sofa, how lovely, with proof too. bless her. Hope Charley is feeling ok today, it will ouch more now that all the numbing has worn off :? :?
Ah, it is Auntie Kari who has no heating - I thought it was Charley. Poor Aunt Karie and Mrs Darcey. Good job they both have electric blankets, oil rads and fan heaters. Mrs D has been showing off her wardrobe to Mother and Sleek. Mother said it was most fitting, for the time of year.
The mists were so thick and plentiful, Rosie had a lovely time, holding on tight, to Mother, who was patting her paws for her - she will soon have her broom legs and be off like a shot. They scooped up so much mists for the Nymphs, who were, indeed, overjoyed to see Rosie et al.
Latte's (fishy whiffy ones) then a long look at the rainbow droplet. t115006 t115006
I have not had chance to make another appt for spirometry, I will do, it takes for ever to get an appt with Sr J. I might just ring her, then she can look at the appointments We have ways of getting to see or speak to our medical teams
Feet all primped and if I could feel them, I am sure they would feel a lot better   :?
T room was lovely as always. Dad had some of a sausage sandwich - about half, plus coffee. Better than nothing, like the other day.
He is very peaky, another nursing term. Iffy and peaky. He was tired out, after the T room and that is all but a few yards from the car.
He was watching tv and had made a cuppa, when B took his tea time meds round, so that was good. Less peaky, but he has been nodding in his chair.
We are in the dog house, for eating all the eclairs    ooops, sorry, should not laugh.............
Hi Joan and Sue - hope you are ok, nice and warm and Lexi is fully recovered now (((())))
I was looked after, Sister knows me well and vice versa - we end up getting nothing done, that is planned for the appointment
Thank you for the hugs, I have always called F in Law, Dad, just started years ago and has carried on

Jack Savoretti has another fan now, he is a great singer. Starting off as a poet, has stood him in good stead.
I did hear some snoring, but Sister had gone out of the room, so I nudged the cloak and that seemed to settle the racket
