Hi Everyone
Doing P.A duties here
I have spoken to Cris who is ok, but still devastated by the loss of the foal (he was a boy) and keeps going round it all in her head worrying that she could have done more.
Deep down she does know really that she did everything, but the placenta looked 'wrong' so l am guessing that he was starved of oxygen in the womb.
Cris asked me to let you know that Flower is really picking up and much much better today and eating well (being spoiled by Cris really!!).
She apologises for not coming on, she is too sad at the moment, but wants you to know she has read the thread and all your lovely posts....she appreciates every single one of them.
She also apologises to those she owes PMs to - she feels really bad about this and promises to get round to you all when she can.
At the mo the shed is on hold while she looks after Flower and prepares for any future births...getting a good harness etc. Doing this is making her feel better.
and between you and me she is also in a fair bit of pain and totally 'wished' too
Love to All of you - you are truly lovely and amazing folk you know.

Thanks very much for this, Frogmorton. I was a bit nattered about how skezier would be holding up. I never doubted that she’d be in a lot of pain after all that but all I can say is, if I had a mare in foal, or indeed any other kind of animal, she’d be my first choice of carer and I’m sure everyone on here feels the same.
Good news about Flower though.
Skezier, just go easy on yourself. Just for once. You know you can do it if you really try.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thinking of you all (you and menagerie.)

Now as for Pm's everyone understand and you post only when you feel upto it, we will all still be here supporting you and looking out for you.

Hi All,
So many names and so grateful to you all I really am.
Kinda lost it earlier today, it all just hit ,e... the loss of Mules foal, then Flower being ill, the foal dying, trying so hard to revive him but I couldn't. The pain, hell the pain from my back and wrists... they didn't like the angle or the pulling out of the little chap at all. Would have been worth it had he lived.
I don't know whats wrong with my head but I keep playing it back and I know if I could have got him out quicker he might have made it though balance that against high level toxemia and odd coloured afterbirth and maybe he was never going to live even if he hadn't got stuck. Then I wonder why he got stuck.. she was so weakened by the toxemia but for the first 10 to 15 mins every time I went near her she got up and wouldn't let me help. I keep running it back and as yet can't find the switch to stop it cus I feel I let him down.
Got to get a hold of it eh?!
Hey all this for an animal thats not mine... and meant to be DIY!
I honestly did fight her corner Wednesday, totally. I know there is some balance here just I can't get that into my stupid clogged up head.
Bit of a mess eh and you know what out of all the pain just now the wrists have the trophy... they really didn't like having to hold and pull like that...... there was no way they weren't going to cus she would have died as well.
I don't know why its all so bad this year but the next one has to go well.. not least cus as Toni said I am now sneaking food and supplements into them. they may not need them all but it wont do ant harm but they have become as bad as the chickens at following me about every hopeful
I my friend how do you feel abut the owner for Sunday lunch Ready hacked of course I could send him up with horn boy.....
My thanks t you all for these messages and I am so sorry we don;t have a live foal and also that i have fallen apart so badly and letting the forum down to boot.
You all take care and bre is now baaaring every day so there is some good news .... oh and Blossom.... she is becoming tamer as well. Love and a bucket of thanks to you all with chew sticks for Maddie and Littlelegs Cris xxx0 -
Hi Cris
Just calling in to leave some more stamina, healer and cope. OH please lovey you know beyond doubt you could have done no more, I do so hope the replays don't haunt you for too long.
We have no doubt at all that you did your absolute best for the poor wee foal, and indeed ALL of your charges as you always do. Often hurting yourself so badly both physically and emotionally by always putting them first. Cris I am so sorry you lost the wee colt, but try to find some consolation in how many animals have you saved over the years by taking them on when no one else would have done and fighting for them with every fibre of your being when they were poorly. We are so proud of you for that.
Am sure you are still inconsolable and in pain, but I hope each day gets a little easier. Please take care of yourself in all this and post only when you feel you have the strength to return.
I have been thinking of you.
love and hugs ((((( )))))

Hi Chris,
The replays are bad eh? Its opened a box as well......
It was bound to happen at some point I guess and outside of TB's its not common...... I said to the old mare today she better just foal right! Owns well i am not 100% sure there is a foal in there... at one angle it looks like she is and another it looks like she isn't.... I have asked her but she declined to say as she quite likes stud mix and thought she wouldn't be given any
Oh I forget her corner tooth and nail with the owner and needing a vet..... It all got quite heated as well......
The next one will be frightening after this but this is unusual it really is. Just wish it had been different thats all.
Hope your ok and work was ok at wonkers and goes well tomorrow with not fire extinguisher polishing needed. Love, hugs, tea, cream and saffron Cris xx0 -
OH Cris i relate to this i really do but please do not blame your self , the foal as you say didn't have a say , but through it all you saved the mare if you had not been there with the care and knowledge things could have been worse so be proud of your commitment , i know you will never put your self first its who you are but please be gentle with your your self .Pleased that Bre is making her self heard , more gentle hugs and caring thoughts tissues on the side xxI know i am a lady ,all life is a journey xx MAY xx0

Cris you did everything you could and a lot more for flower and her foal. without your determination things would have been a lot worse so please please please don't ever think you could have done anything more. you were there fighting flowers corner all the way. It was very sad that the foal did not make it but so many things were stacked against him he just couldn't, that had nothing to do with what you were doing fate always plays a part in these things.
I was really pleased to here that Bre is baaing to you now that is shining light yuo need to follow, and blossom they all need you and love you and will help you through this.
Love Tracey and Maddie
ps Maddie says she may be a bit later tonight as she loves sunday dinner and will be round once she has had her fill, so save her a big spot on the cushion next to you.0 -
Hi Cris
just dropping by to offer you some hugs from Daisycat and the rest of us here.
I am proud of you and you saved Flower in my book and anyone else who decides to foal will be safer too with the harness for sure and your watchful attention.
Love and hugs

Hi my love
What can I say...only that you wouldn't be going to pieces over flowers foal, if you wasn't such a lovely caring person........I really do feel for you.
Sending you buckets full of healing draught and love.Love

Hi Cris
Just calling in to leave some more sympathy and hope. Though you won't forget the little one you lost, I kinda hope you do have another foal there soonish to lay a few demons to rest.
You know how it lifts you to see that miracle and how we rejoice with you and it will happen again. We are all crossing our fingers for a safe delivery and happy mare soon so you can forget your hurty bits just for a few brief blissful moments.
There was no dusting of fire extinguishers at the shop today sadly. With two staff off sick, it left 3 of us trying to man the two floors which meant getting a lunch break wasn't an option! :???:
Hope you have found time and energy for a bit of sheep cuddling and managed some rest. I have been thinking of you.
love, hugs and some anti wished juice. (((( ))))
Chris0 -
Oh Cris, I know what you are thinking and I am right with you on that one. Best attention for bully plus one rest assured.
Sadly the dye was already cast but because of you Flower is still here. So, so difficult for you I know but there is only so much that anyone could do and you did far more than many could or would be capable off. Take heart Cris.
It has been a lousy year for you but Bre has joined the gang and the shed will be ready before the end of summer. Please my friend step back and go gently for a while.
Hugs as always,
Lv, Ix0
