    Morning Elna,

I'm sorry, I've been neglecting you but luckily you seem to be managing fine without my written well-wishes - though you always have the thoughts. What can I say? Keep on just as you are. You seem to be doing really well to me. Mr SW has a home BP monitor. It tends to come out whenever hospitals are mentioned on TV. Sometimes he can be 'normal' or 'all but dead' within minutes. He's been told the electronic ones aren't as reliable as the old fashioned hand-operated ones.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Elna

Just been tidying out drawers in the kitchen, thought if people were to be making me tea/coffee very soon the cupboards and drawers need to be tidy

I am a very tidy person on the outside but sometimes I am untidy where the eye can't see

I hope you have a good journey at the weekend when you go to see your mum. Fingers crossed for you that the roads are clear.

A sunny but chilly day here today hense me doing the drawers.

Have a lovely day, and I will pm you soon.

    Take care

    Hi Sticky,

The doc kind of asked enquiringly how long we had had the monitor, cannot remember if I replied, but it matched his BP devce so he could not say much else. We were actually asked a few years ago by the gp (not this GP) to purchase one as we would otherwise have to wait ages as there were only two in the surgery and one was broken. Hope the surgery have got their act together now and have more monitors but I doubt it! I am ok, thank you, more to the point, how are you?

    Hi Julie

I am like you, basically a tidy person, but I refuse to wear my glasses all the time (I hate them) and so when I do put them on and have a look round, I see things that need to be done, that looked fine without my glasses on.  It is funny how we do this before going in for an op, a mini spring clean, it’s a little similar to getting everything in order before the baby arrives!!

Hi Cris, so pleased you had a good night’s sleep last night I am sorry to hear you have seen hailstones today. I hope too that you are having a good day and have not broken too many rules. I have been a good girl today and broken none that I can think of…… yet.

 Aw, Chrisov, so good to hear from you. I did notice that you were looking into the forum earlier. Thank you so much for the bestish wishes, much appreciated. You have not been on the forum for such a long time, you are missed, you know. I hope life is treating you more gently now. Please do not disappear again or if you do, not for so long. Promise?

Hi dear Barbara, so pleased you had a good holiday, but I still do not know where you have been.:smile:

I am fine thank you and am waiting for my 6 week post op check and hoping all is in order. I am doing everything now except carrying heavy shopping. I hate wearing this neck collar but see why I need to do so. I must admit I do not wear it all the time in the home but definitely when out or in the garden.

Thank you for thinking of me. I do hope you feel rested after your break and that arthur did not go with you.

Hi Elna, it's good to hear you've been getting out into the garden. It's such good therapy although the weather is certainly turning now.
You've done so well, although no doubt at times your patience is thin with wearing the collar and making your recovery. (Or maybe that's just what I'd be like lol)
Hope all continues to move along nicely for you. Big hugs, Rita.

    Hi Rita

Thank you for your good wishes and hugs, my patience is wearing thin with wearing the collar, it is not that comfortable. I went 4 stops on our local train today to meet my friend for lunch. Wore the collar when out but in the restaurant, took it off. I hope you are ok.

    Hi Cris

Consultant said three months  but I am hoping that he may change his mind when I go for my 6 week appointment in a couple of weeks time.
Fingers crossed. We have a good old catch up, my friend and I and a lovely lunch usng her daughter's Tastecard so that made it much cheaper.

I do hope that you are managing - shall I send you this collar when I have finished with it?

Hi Elna, good to hear you've been out to meet a friend. Humour is the best medicine sometimes. You keep going and just hang on there, time will pass and you'll have that old collar off in no time. Meanwhile be good to yourself and try to rest sometimes as well.
    Big hugs. Rita.

Hello my lovely elnafinn, please accept my apologies for not looking in as much but as you know my time is not really my own at the moment. I hope you are continuing to do well - it really is one of the most remarkable recoveries I think I have ever 'witnessed'! DD

    Dear Toni

 I only thought this afternoon I really should at least get back to my hooping and on the exercise bike very soon and then perhaps add the stretching exercises but not too sure about some of them yet - probably too early days.

I have just done the 10 minutes on the bike and was pleased to see that I was able to cycle the same distance as before the op so that pleased me. Feeling rather warm at the moment - the exercise.

So I love the smilie but only hoop around the waist nothing exciting like that and with the collar it would be a tad difficult!!

    I hope you are ok,

    Love

    Hi Elna

l am doing ok thanks you very much

Think you are doing so well and have to agree the hooping would be maybe a bit much for the neck just yet

Bike though....great idea and well done you.

    Hello dear DD and Rita

Thank you both for popping in to see how I am going along. I hope you are ok, Rita, I do rest a little.

DD I am so surprised to see you on this thread. Bless you. You have more than enough whirling around in your head at the moment. I really feel for you. Surely your consultant will be on your side. I am thinking of you and sending you over some dummies to spit out.

    Hi Toni

Just tried to hula hoop and it is not on ... yet. It affects my neck and also the hoop touches the wound at the top of my hip so no can do at the mo. The exercise bike is ok though. Well if I hadn't of tried I would not have known, aye?

Have a good day  The sun is shining here.

Best to leave the hula hoops for now then and maybe keep up with doing the bike exercise if it is easier. Glad to hear the sun is out, it is here as well but I'm at work on a break. Perhaps you'll get outside into the garden for a little bit of gardening. I'm on phase back to work at the moment and will be up to my full (although reduced again  ) hours next week, thanks for asking.
    Big hugs, Rita.

    Hi Rita

I do hope to get into the garden or into town today. I have a couple of cleaning jobs that I have had to forgo for a good few months, the second time this year and really wish I could get back to them. My purse is getting very empty! They are still my jobs although someone else has taken over for now.

I hope you are managing ok with your phased return to work. Although you have had to reduce your hours at least you are still able to go to work. All the best for next week then. Enjoy your weekend.

    Hi Elna

Well done you for getting on your exercise bike and trying the hula hoop.
I used to love the hoop and what great exercise it was. I can imagine though that your neck wasn't quite ready for that one.

Oh my....3 months of the collar, I too was expecting that you might give it back at your 6 week app. (although as you are doing so very well perhaps you will)

Lovely to read that you had a good time with your friend and I hope that today you also managed to get out and about.

I stayed in and managed to spend £4  ....the window cleaner came  should have gone out on scooter

Have a good weekend and thankyou so much for my thread about tomorrow.

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow, Julie - is it 10.00 am? I did go out today and it was pleasant in the sunshine. Got a few funny looks from some young children, but I smiled back at them. Definitely no need for a jacket this afternoon, wearing this collar. Phew!

Had a long chat with my neighbour on my return so was away for 2 hours.

Let us know how tomorrow's appointment went, won't you, dear Julie,

    Love

Thank you dear Linda. Indeed I never thought I would progress so well after this op either. Pity the pins and needles are not disappearing though and the walking improving. Perhaps the pins and needles have lessened slightly and I no longer get the sensation of pins and needles in my shoulders and down my arms when getting up from a sitting position.. Never mind, mustn't be too greedy. Things could still change for the better, given time.

It is especially kind of you to reply to my thread at this sad time for you. You are in my thoughts.
