Morning elna, I am dicating this (well, shouting it thro the wall) to my next door neighbour (he has my lappy with him) as I am still a germ-ridden old hag and dare not infect you now! (We fumigated the lappy.)

Be cautious please, my dear elna. Take things very easily over the next few days and, tempting tho it might be to leave hospital as soon as you can, please ensure that YOU are READY to leave. I am thinking of you very much. DD

Elna! Just seen that you're round and about. I do hope things are going well for you. I would guess there will, at the very least, be a lot of discomfort but you are a strong lady. It's so good to have you back where you belong.

Hey, everybody, I am astounded by all the response, thank you so much, and thank you Vonski for relaying what news Ian forwarded to you. Lucie (Lola's mum) suggested that I might like to have a quick look on the forum whilst she was visiting me and I must admit she typed in what I dictated to her. My mobile does not do complicated things like that

I was home early evening tonight. The consultant was pleased with his work and xrays taken the following day were fine. I am on paracetamol only for the discomfort, which is sufficient.

It ain't an arf hot in these knee stocking thingys (I'd forgotten about them or was trying to forget ) and a huge neck brace. The stitches in hip area and neck area are dissolveable. I am sooooo bruised on my neck and chest - had not thought about that too much either, so that was a bit of a shock! Started on the arnica tablets tonight, better late than never.

I have waterproof plasters on both wounds now so will be able to shower. That will be fun  Consultant suggested sitting on a plastic chair in the shower, and I must keep the neck straight ie definitely NO bending back of the neck, as I will have to remove the neck brace of course. I see the consultant in 6 weeks time. I am allowed to remove the neck brace when sleeping and if sitting in a chair.

I am so relieved it is over and now it is the slow plod to recovery. I am all done in now, but wished to call in, so I shall leave you all and hopefully have time tomorrow to see what has been going on in my absence. Seems so much longer than three days since I was home.

One of my SIL is calling in to sort me out around lunch time.

Enjoy the hot weather if it suits you, dont mind me, getting hot and bothered in my surgical socks and neckbrace!

Love and hugs to you all and thank you so much for being there for me.

    Elna x

    wow!

Elna I'd no idea you'd be home so soon!

take things easy and let everyone pamper you whilst you have the chance

just a thought about the shower - have you been seen by an OT?
I'd have thought that the hospital would have referred you , but if not your GP can refer you, and that way there may be things you could have to help you during this time of limited mobility. I would be lost without the things I was given.

In my experience it's amazing what is out there if only we knew about it!

    loads of hugs (((())))

    Hi Elna,
Its great that you are home......fantastic news.
TEDS I dont think you ever forget those  and those and a brace :?: must be very uncomfortable in this hot weather. Oh well its an Indian Summer....... predicted to end at the weekend
I'm glad you SIL is coming round......let them look after you
Is it a similar thing to THR.....6 weeks restrictions? Do you think the neck brace will come off when you see the consultant in 6 weeks and the TEDS of course
    You are one strong lady Elna so I know you'll behave yourself {I think :eek: }
Get plenty of rest and we are here when you need us

Elna, so good to read your message, even if you are hot
and bothered with the lovely stockings.

Cant believe that you are all 'done' in such a short time.

Do take care and hopefully now you are going to be so fit
and well, so no more ops needed EVER, right?
You have had your share of operating tables these last
    few years.

Looking forward to reading your next message.
    Love Kath xx

    Only paracetamol??? Crikey!

Bad weather for the thick, clingy stockings and neck brace but at least this is England so it won't last.

You're doing so well, Elna, and I'm very pleased.
