My suggestion is Nine Tailors by Dorothy L Sayers.
For those who read the Ian Samson book in August which was a pastiche of books from the "Golden era" of British crime fiction this would be a good introduction to the real thing.
It's set in Norfolk, and not only has a satisfying number of twists and turns but one of the most original murders. While it's one of a series ( all of which are excellent and it is hard to choose just one), it can be read alone.
Some of the class issues etc. do show it's age but the characters are well written.
He did not say you will not be storm tossed, you will not be sore distressed, you will not be work weary. He said you will not be overcome.

I think it's because they are easy to eat - no peeling and no biting off chunks maybe? How nice of him though. :)

I finished NOS4R2 by Joe Hill this morning.
It is a horror type book and fairly similar to some of his Dad's (S King) work. Essentially there are some people who can use certain things to travel through space to somewhere else really quickly, not necessarily real places either. The main character, Vic, can use her bike to travel and find lost things. The main villain uses his car with the reg NOS4R2 to take kids to christmasland.
Vic ends up meeting the villain when she is young and escapes but gets him sent to jail. Later in life he is out for revenge.
It is a bit scary but I quite enjoyed it.
    I reckon ***/****

I picked up The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness while I was at the library, the third book in the trilogy. It is a big book - expect a delay before the review!!

Hi Guys I'm back after getting over my flu bug & going on my trip to Weymouth & Monkey World. I'm back reading and hoping to finish in the next couple of days The Bling Ring, I'm really enjoying it.

Also wanted to add, anyone who has a or many cats may of heard of Jackson Galaxy. He's an amazing man who has a show on Animal Planet called 'My cat from Hell' I found a book about him and it has tips on how to care for your cat. I really want to read it as what he can't do to train a cat can be written on a postage stamp! Anyone who is interested it's called 'The Cat Daddy Have a good Sunday everyone and it's good to be back!!

Gosh, it already feels like September is already rampaging on and the holidays seem like a long time ago not just a week back. I have read a few books but one I have just finished is The Killer Nextdoor by Alex Marwood. I really enjoyed it, the characters, especially the women, are wonderful but as we get to know 'The Lover' a little more things get a little gory (not a book of you are a little squeamish). The story is very well developed and I just wanted to keep reading and reading it. There is tension, development of relationships, murder, tea parties, gangs, old people, young people and a cat. You can't go wrong!

Thank you Tubby for the review of The Killer next door it sounds like a very gripping thriller, could be another one for my list which is starting to be longer than a this seasons football transfer list!! After a lot of disturbances I'm pretty close to finishing The Bling Ring which has kept my interest and has taught me a lot about the celebrity & rich life.

The Bling Ring by Nancy Jo Sales

This book is about a group of teenagers who are celebrity obsessed and want what they have, so they decide rather than work for it they will burgle the homes of their favorite celebrities. This is a true story and there was a movie made about it. The book looks into why these group of 7 who where named the bling ring by the press who already came from families who where well off enough already make a pact and go off burgling celebrites like Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan & Orlando Bloom and take millions of Dollars worth of Clothes & Jewellary. The book looks into each of the group and what really happened when they burgled the homes and what happened when they where caught and when't to court. It was a very interesting book up untill the court case when it dragged on. It was a shame as the book was very easy to read until then.

    RATING:- ***/*****

Next book I've decided to read is Beautifully Damaged by L.A. Fiore It's part of the Beautifully Damaged series of books. It's about meeting someone new and letting them into your heart after your heart has been crushed by previous hurt. I'm very much looking forward to this book as it's seems a little dark.

The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness
This was the third in this trilogy about witches, vampires and daemons living amongst us. The first book was really good - better than twilight by miles. The second was good but, whether it was because I read it with a couple of years between it and the first or not, it dragged bait. This final book went back to being really good. They are all big books but pretty easy to read. I reckon **** for the series.

I am waiting for the Nine Tailors to get to the library. Might have to go and get an interim book tomorrow in desperation!

Managed to do alot of reading over the weekend due to my flare up starting and my P.C becoming sick with a Malware Infection!! I'm half way through Beautifully Damaged and this book is getting rather saucy!! It's a good story and it holds your interest. I'm having to charge my Kindle Fire at the moment after the weekends heavy reading! Looking forward to getting comfy and having a read this afternoon.

My fellow Book Worms it the time of the month again! It's find a book for Octobers Book Of The Month. There have been some new books that are starting to filter through because of the time of year and books being released ready for Christmas. We can start looking now and if any of you have any suggestions please post them and we can make a decision. If we can make a decision by the end of the week that will be great, so everyone get sniffing those books out!!

Hi All, I saw on Amazon they had some special offers on so took a look to see if there were any possibles for Book Of The Month For October and have came up with two possibles. I think what I will do because no one has come forward with any suggestions is have them both for BOTM. So here are the two books for Octobers Book Of The Month:
Someone To Save You by Paul Pilkington & Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson this book has been made into a film which is currently on at cinema's! So you can choose either one to read or if you fancy them both you can read them both. Enjoy and I hope you enjoy, look forward to reading the reviews!! Have a good weekend all. :D

Before I go to Sleep was brilliant! I really enjoyed that one - good choice!

Sorry for my absence - return to school at loads more hours has reduced my free time loads. Boo! :(

Anyway I finished The End of The Wasp Season by Denise Mina yesterday.
This was a cop story but wasn't a whodunnit because, like in Columbo, you see who did it in the first chapter! It was more a "will they catch them?"! It is set in Scotland so there were a few odd turns of phrase and at first I didn't really get into it. But then I got used to it and enjoyed it. I reckon ***/****

I have collected The Book of You which looks like it could be quite creepy. My order of the Nine Tailors still hasn't arrived at the library.
Hopefully I will start to get more time for reading and reporting on here soon!
Busy weekend though going to see Warhorse this afternoon and off to the footie tomorrow! Lighter week at work next week though.
    Happy reading bookworms!

Hey Frog! Good too see you!

The Book Of You is good so far - quite gripping and very tense.

Bubba asked me to let you all know that she has a pc problem at the moment so will be absent. She hopes it will be sorted by the weekend.

Sorry - just a brief one. Off for my swim before work now.
