Holiday Bubba? Hope you have a good time! I need a holiday after this "break". We have done three big walks, two in the snow which was fab for the dogs, and tomorrow are off to the footie for the second time in less than a week. New manager in charge. I like him because of is naked head-butting exploits while he was at Stoke!! The first week I kept up my swimming but did slack off this week with walking trumping swimming! All back to normal next week for me. I am enjoying my True Blood short stories. A good bit of light relief! Have another book I picked off the shelf to read after that and then back to my list!
Hope this year provides plenty of reading opportunities for us all. Get Mr B back to work bubba!!

Hey Frogmella, I like the sound of Tony Pulis, he will not stand any rubbish. I liked the way he was sitting in the stands for a while then came down to the touchline and started giving hell to the team it soon gave them a kick up the butt!! OH had a bet on the game 8-0 was pretty close!!

Rock Stars Don't Like Big Knickers By Nikki Ashton

I loved this book it was the easy book I wanted to read over the Christmas Period. The Story is about a Woman named Martha who was living in a small cottage on a big estate that she used to be housekeeper to and now it had been sold to someone else. She was taken on by the new owners to carry on being the housekeeper, what she didn't realise was the new owner was the mother of Luke Mahoney the lead singer of the band 'Dirty Riches' her favourite band when she was a teenager and the lead singer she used to lust over!
She found Luke to be Arrogant but also Sexy and he found Martha to be intriguing and beautiful. Soon a friendship develops until Luke's on-off Girlfriend Rachel turns up out of the blue. Luke goes back to his arrogant ways which shows Martha she's nothing more than his Boss. But Luke doesn't want Rachel he has come to realise he wants Martha. The book keeps you hooked with the roller-coaster of will they won't they and it does get rather saucy in parts. It does have comedy moments as well. Over all it was a really good easy to read book with no tension in it. I really enjoyed it.

Sorry I haven't been around much the last week, what with appointments and an evil Migraine taking over the whole of Saturday my 'to do list' went out the window! So I've got my new 'to do list' and more appts this week so crazy mad again!
Sooooo!! We need someone to take the helm while I'm not around this week and while I'm on holiday, Frogmella if you can fit it I would like to ask you to take over till the end of the month if you could.

We need to find a book for February's Book Of The Month As you may of noticed January's was missed!! My mistake! So who has any suggestions for the 1st Book Of The Month for 2015?

I've got 2 books for my holiday reading! Players,Wags & Designer Bags by Jo Gards & The Little Shop Of Hopes & Dreams by Fiona Harper which I got for the bargain price of 16p as it's in the Kindle daily specials. Two easy readings!!
Well I this is me saying cheerio and see you all in a couple of weeks!! :D

I think I've found a good book to start 2015 off with a bang for Book Of The Month!! I had bookmarked it as my next read but forgot to go to my 'one note' it's called Look Behind You by Sibel Hodge it was a #1 Bestseller of last year. Have a look and decide if you want it as February's Book Of The Month .

Hey Bubba that looks good. I have just ordered it from the library. Will be back shortly with a review - got to go and help Mr F with something. He has, of course, waited until I sat down to ask!

Ha, back quick enough to edit the post!

I just finished Positively the Last Performance by Geraldine McCaughrean
This, I think, might have been a kids book, it is one I took off the new books shelf in the library.
It is about an old abandoned theatre in a place called Seashaw which is based on Margate. Gracie and her parents arrive at the theatre as her parents intend to renovate it. Gracie quickly spots all the ghostly inhabitants - yes - she sees dead people!! She befriends them and teases out their stories as to how they dies and how they came to be at the theatre.
I enjoyed it, kids book or not!

I picked up Dissolution by C J Sansom. Thanks to DD for the recommendation!

I hope I can look after things ok and I hope that Bubba's choice for BOTM suits everyone - I think it looks good!

I've just finished reading "The Heroes' Welcome" by Louisa Young.
It's the sequel to her best selling "My dear I wanted to tell you."
A brilliant read, but not as good as the first. It was recommended
to me by lignum vitae who posts on here from time to time and
who knows a good book when she reads one.

I think I am in charge, officially, while Bubba is away so think I have the authority to make Look Behind you BOTM for February. Hope I haven't overstepped the mark!

I'll be honest - I have read a load of kids books! Often just as good, if not better, than some grown up ones. Harry Potter, Twilight, His Dark Materials to name a few!

I am really enjoying Dissolution. Glad to have had a good recommendation from here! February BOTM is now in transit to the library so, for once, I will be able to read it in the correct month! :D
Keep warm and snuggle up with a good book. I am off to read mine in the bath! TMI??

Hey legs, good to see you! :D:D

My BOTM has arrived at the library! Just in the nick of time as I finished Dissolution last night. I was half right about the murderer!

I have just been adding some more books to my shortlist. Not so short more long....

    Keep warm bookworms!

I picked up Look Behind You this morning and have already got stuck into it - it is quite a page turner so far! While I was there I happened to see The Rosie Effect there on the shelf, the sequel to The Rosie Project that I think I read last year and really enjoyed. So I now have two good books to keep me occupied for a while.

I just finished reading My Dear I wanted to tell you by Louisa Young

This book was recommended to me/us by Ichabod and I loved it.

It is set in the first world war, but is not your typical 'war' story at all. It is historical, factual, and as well as being beautifully written, a bit of love thrown in.

I don't really want to say much more in-case anyone wants to read it :?

Ready to start BOTM tomorrow :D

    Love

That sounds good to me Frogmorton, will add that one to my list too.
A word of warning - I have lost hours of the last two days to Look Behind You - I have nearly finished it already. It is good and tense.

    Ah!!!

Thank you Frogmella for that warning....I shall take it with me to the QE on Tuesday for Lucy's chemo - that usually means lots of sitting around

There's nothing like a book that does that to you is there :)

    Hello Tony,

Glad you enjoyed "my dear.......". There is a follow up called "The Heroes'
Welcome" which is also a good read. It follows the main characters' lives
in the first few years of peacetime.
It was recommended to me by Lignum Vitae who posts on here
occasionally and who knows a good book when she reads one.

    Hi fellow book dwellers,

I just wanted to say (though you may already know this and have even discussed it) that Kindle books are going up in price due to European Tax Laws. (Sorry if you already know )

    I'm stock-piling at the moment. k035.gif

    Hello lindalegs,

Why not read or re-read 'classic books?'
You can download loads of them for free at amazon.
You could also go to the gutenberg project website. There
are well over 40,000 free books there and all they ask is the
    odd donation.

Thanks for the tip Ichabod, I do have some free books from both Amazon and Gutenberg Project. I don't mind buying books but it is worth stock piling whilst they're at cheaper rates. :D

Hi Guys! Back from Dubai, only managed to read one book while away! So here's my review of:-
Players, WAGs & Designer Bags By Jo Gards
I thoroughly enjoyed it as an easy read, it had everything. It's about a University student named Melissa. One evening out with friends at a restaurant she accidently bumps into footballer Emile Dubois, Melissa doesn't know anything about football or footballers so she has no idea he is the hottest footballer the number one! Emile pursues Melissa and she agrees to go on a date with him and before she knows it she is thrown into the crazy world of football and being a WAG! It's a fun read and I hope there is a follow up book so I can see how it pans out!
