    Hello my friends :)

Lucy did go shopping, but managed only one shop pr***rk and then vomited outside N* L**k so the expedition was shorter than expected :(

    Ya booh :(

Another bit of not-so-good-news was that Lucy hasn't been able to start phase 3 as her bloods are still too low.

The good news is that today for the first time in so long I can't remember she WASN'T sick :)

    So I am a happy Mum :D

Stephen is indeed in the same unit as Lucy in Birmingham though he started of at the Children's where Lucy used to go for her Epilepsy.

Tony I have passed on some YBHs to Lucy and you know every one of those kids is an inspiration...they all humble me

Thank you Joan and toady, Bubbadog (and pusscats)Barbara and , Stickywicket and of course Dreamdaisy, Marie and Tony, Frogmella and Elizabeth, (Stephen's money will provide comfortable and distracting age-appropriate surroundings for teenagers for years to come :)

Nothing can make up for being dealt such a rubbish hand, but the teenage cancer trust do their best to minimise the effects.

Maybe I am extra tearful today because it's my birthday, but you lot are so kind. I promise I haven't had any wine ;)

    love to you all

Oh, so sorry to hear the shopping wasn't the little snippet of normality & cheer that everybody so hoped :(:( how disappointing for you & her.. pleased she has had a better day today, maybe the birthday fairies have been active in pulling a few strings for you.. hope it continues.. will hope to hear phase 3 can be pencilled in not too long hence.. sending you some moral toady support, for what it's worth. xx

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Toni! Why wouldn't you have wine on your birthday??? I'm sure it is the law that you should!

Sorry to hear the shopping trip didn't go so well but glad that Lucy had a sick free day yesterday. Long may it continue.

Sorry Lucy only got in to one shop. Hope she managed to get a few things. Good news she hasn't been sick since. Hope that continues.

My niece has grown her hair down to her waist. She was going to have it cut short soon so it could be made in to a wig for a child with cancer. She has decided to be sponsored to have her head shaved in school the week before the summer holidays. The money she raises will go towards helping the teenage cancer patients. she looked in to it and, apparently at the moment, they can either go in with the children or with the adults and don't have much in the way of facilities. I would think Stephen's money will go a long way to help.

Hope you enjoyed your birthday and that this week is going well for Lucy.

I hope the sick-free days are continuing and that your girl is holding her head up high; she has much to be proud about (as do you) so I think some congratulatory (but gentle) back-slapping is in order this week-end. You are both constantly in my thoughts. ((( ))) xxx DD

Well this week has improved by the day with Lucy managing 3 slices of toast for brekkie :)

Phase 3 is 'pencilled in' for Tuesday (Toady) starting with an intracthecal.

Wednesday will be vincristine and methotrexate

Thursday pegaspariganase and then off for a 'Look Good Feel Better' day with all the other girls having treatment :)

Rest of week off then exams start Monday. Lucy is taking hers at the hospital. We managed to take some coursework into her 'real' school yesterday which was nice. Made me feel quite tearful though...how that ought to have been 'normal'

Thanks Joan I think she'll need the good luck for phase3 because it's nasty :(

    Frogmella
I was a good girl on my birthday (as Stickywicket says I am on duty), but my husband took over for me and I had a couple yesterday instead ;) I DO think you're right though it IS the law

    Christine
your niece is AMAZING!!!! Imagine doing that and I hope her hair will be used for someone who has cancer too. Has she got a just-giving page??

Thanks Villier and Stickywicket for drinking my wine for me - much appreciated  Vilier is extra self-sacrificing thinking of Stickywicket's health like that......

Thank you DD. Back is duly slapped. Lucy's very gently - I am very proud of her :)

I hope I didn't miss anyone and hope you all have some sunshine

    Love

3 bits of toast is very good news. I bet she can't wait until Thursday for her look good feel better day and I don't blame her.

Exams start 12th May here too.Taking her work in, well it must have been so difficult for you and I'm not surprised you felt tearful.

Lovely of Hubby to take over and give you a small break. Its been full-on since January.

At least she had the chance to go to one shop but a shame it didn't last long.

I've now been reminded of the time OH had his hair shaved for cancer charity once (not enough for a wig though :D ). They took the middle section off first and left the sides long (he has quite long hair) so he looked like Max Wall  . Trouble is his work weren't happy I ask you
Well I'll be hoping the sick free days continue and stage 3 does its job.

All the best and love to all your brood,

    Elizabeth xx

Sounds as if Lucy is making good progress. Hope stage 3 goes well and isn't as bad as expected. I'm sure the girls will have a wonderful time. My niece is looking in to a Just Giving page but she's not sure how she wants to do things. She wants to donate some to the local children's hospice too. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Christine If your niece does a just-giving page please let me know - if she's going to do such a lovely thing it must be for LOTS of money ;)

Elizabeth as soon as you described OH's hair-do I pictured Max Wall  His work were small-minded not to actually donate money rather than be annoyed

Thank you I hope she keeps well too and phase 3 is effective

Yes exams for your household too. Best of luck to them and love to your lot too :)

Yes she is doing better eating and doing schoolwork bless her. I think I wouldn't have bothered for this year in her shoes

Glad to hear Lucy is eating up & I will be thinking of you come Tuesday. And beyond. Have a nice quiet Bank Hol all of you. :)

Exams, gosh, no I wouldn't take them on either but then again I can see many & various reasons why you would want to.

Hope the Thursday girly day goes well too, xx

    Toady

This is the day they're having:

    http://www.lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk/

Us Mums are getting kicked out so will be in the town centre.....mmmm...shopping

You're right about the exams - if she only passes 3 it will be 3 less to do next year.

The good new is Lucy thinks she would like to be a hairdresser/beautician again :) She has wanted to do this since she could stand up. Me often arriving to pick up Charley from school with something or other still in my hair

She had said "You can't be a hairdresser with no hair."

Thanks Christine She does have a nice bf luckily :) and some very good friends. Having said that she's posted nothing at all on face***k about her cancer unlike a lot of her friends.

Barbara I know you think of us and are sending those positive vibes. I hope that this phase might be kinder on her as Marie said.

One of the lasses who is about 4 months ahead of us is nearing 'maintenance' something to look forward to.

Thank you Joan It's lovely to know you will be there thinking of us tomorrow( :? ).

Two of my friends visited with their yorkie puppy yesterday and Lucy managed a small walk with her and her Step-sister :)

Thanks Marie. I am sure all will go well...well hopeful. There seems to be so many things which can go wrong....infections blood counts etc.

    Love to you all
