Benepali injection & being taken seriously
Hi all
I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis since 9 months old. My recent diagnosis is psoriatic arthritis. I have been on Humira / Adalimumab for around 7 years but had constant flare ups in my ankles knees and elbows leading to endless amounts of steroid injections. I have now been on Benepali for around 5 weeks now but I have now developed the worst pain & swelling in my knee which I’m worried I will now need another steroid injection. Is anyone else on Benepali and has it worked for you. I just want my arthritis to be under control and stable and find the right injection for me as I am 22 years old I want to be able to live my life. My work doesn’t listen and understand that I need frequent breaks due to my arthritis as well what can I do about this ? Can I get my doctor to write me a note ? How do I get taken seriously?!

Welcome message:
Hello @hannahshack and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles particularly with getting work to understand. If you work for a big organisation they will probably have an occupational health department or at least an HR department. See if you can speak to them. Or, if you are in a union you should be able to get advice from them.
Our website is a mine of information so do look at it. I couldn't find any specific information on Benepali though there is a lot of info on drug side effects.
Also, our community members will have vast experience so keep checking back here for their responses.
In the meantime there are a few discussion threads on RA, knee pain and benepali. Just search (using the magnifying glass) and you will find a lot of information from our members.
Please keep posting now you are here and let us know how you are getting on.
Best wishes
Mary

Hi Hannah, I have RA and was diagnosed in 2023. I started off on methotrexate and sulfasalazine but both gave me side effects. I was then put on Benepali and I’ve been on it now for 13 weeks and it seems to be working for me. It is not 100% but close to 90% effective for me. I hope this helps. Good luck.
