We've had them in the past, too - when they demolished an old caravan site not far from us.
The pest people did not do a very good job - we went off for the w/e and returned mid-afternoon on the Sunday to find a car park and grounds full of dead and dying r*ts. With a dumb blonde of a labrador and two small children in the car it made getting out and into the house without these strange things being investigated rather interesting.
Cris my lovely, you are having the hardest time of it ever! Such a catalogue of disasters has opened over the last few weeks for you.
Keep going, maid; I wish all my positive thoughts could be real actions for you.
Love,
Annie0 -

The weather is totally shift and letting you down so badly
I hope the old computer comes up trumps - I know it's very slow and frustrating, but you may yet see how much we all are rooting for you.
Keep warm tonight - and safe.

Hi To you All,
I so hope your all ok and the snow gets lost fairly soon... I know we don't have much this way.... well we didn't used to but we started the year with some and well its kinda changing and we do have to learn what it is after all
This old pc has proved to be a god send actually.... the power switch blew on the real one! Till its mended I don't know if its harmed anything but this ones switch also went and it ain't damaged so kinda hopeful......
Its not been on the net since 2002 and has had a whole hit of upgrades  now it does recognize the dongle so since I put it in the wrong place to get it working I might uninstall it and put it back so it does it properly..... then again.... tis working so might leave it rather than take a chance.
I just want to thank you all cus my PA's have been keeping me up dated with all your messages... you lot are brilliant you really are.....
It must have been your vibes that got me through the shed clean... cus there be rats!! forget dragons I would rather have them
Its all been hard, too cold, too slippery and now the ground is in deep permafrost its dodgy purely cus the holes the hooves have made make it hard and bit sticking up all over the place.... add the slip factor and its all tense... then there is the water troughs..... 8" of ice don't break easy eh?! The sheeps water was a solid mass so have resorted to buckets carried by drum as the taps are not working and well its not good for the back or neck so hopefully this will soon go  My feet are mashed as well though Iris has given me a tip to try when I have to go back to the hunters
Hey Louise they did get a bit down west.... The sheep are near the other St A and that was some hairy drive for the last 4 miles..... might be worse today so going prepared! Kinda hope its not going to do as they say cus it will be much harder if the lanes get more...... Hope your staying warm and leaving you a (((( )))) xx
Hey Berty I got the door open.... glad really cus it would have been so hard to climb it now a days..... xx
This is how bad it is.....
one of the sheep is dejected and not happy... she is too cold! I am putting a rug on her today even if she doesn't like itIts cus their fleece are governed by weather... gets cold they pile on more fleece and its been quite warm so she hasn't piled on much fleece.... think they all will now..... They are in but I must make some kind of top door and get it warmer for them in there..... today pain for the hands and wrists
I know it wrong to complain cus some of you have 9 or more inches of the stuff but this place hasn't been above freezing for almost a week and its chucking up -7's in the early evening so its cold enough here honest
The good thing is its all solid and there is no mud.... even at the sheep the ground is frozen enough to ware trainers... no these are not average trainerssteel toes and thermal lines with whacking great tread and even in these I was slipping last night... didn't go down though.... will at some point cus you know you will don't you?!
Oh and all lodgers are gone and what was nice is I loaded them and they trust me and were as good as goldYesterday Sweet-Pea and bracken left.. she is the feral one and have been quietly trying to get her friendly so was able to walk up to her and catch her yesterday... and load her and Bracks with no hassle.....well it made my day
You all stay safe and (((( ))))'s to you all.
Love Cris xxx
Oh now....
Toni, Iris and Wonky have done fantastic PA duties... but.... could you please defer your bill till next monthYou 3 get special ((((( ))))) and many thanks xxxx

WAHAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It worked
I know I am pretty well u to date Cris with all the comings and goings down there, but I have to say you are amazing!
Especially as you are 'not really made for roughing it'
I do not envy you the cold as your place is nto warm at the best of times.
As for my PA duties 'on the house' - you can reciprocate when I need you.
I think we should all try to blow some warm air your way if we can
Love

Hi Toni,
Oh come on when the suns out and the wind isn't about..... that's 3 days a year I think.... its lovely
I don't think you have ever really been here in decent weather have you? Don't seem to happen much now a days
Least I don't have to be a hippo anymore do I?!That was getting me down some... like the ice on the water isn't
Got to handle a wheel barrow now.... don't want to touch the handles even with the gloves on.....
You get paid in cat food next time I see you.... reckon it might be a pallets worth
Sending you special warm as I can make them ((((( ))))) and hopes it really does all just goes away soon.... Cris xxx0 -
Great to see you back on the forum our Cris
Hope that the weather eases a bit to make getting about a whole lot more manageable and saferhave knitted some leg warmers for your gals.. keep their wee skinny legs warm in the snow and ice.
... remember to heat your wellies by standing them in hot water before you go out later.
warming (((hugs)))
Iris xxxx
ps .. we got a mountain of snow... and still it falls.0 -
Hi Iris,
Its got to let up soon hasn't it? You go careful and stay warm cus getting cold is never helpful.said they love the leg warmers
They had a squabble over the pink ones.... though one didn't she nabbed the blue
Will hope to not have to ware the hunters for a min.. they have no tread, slip like hell and be honest flower my feet are really bad just now but that sky is going to dump more down and I know tis nothing like you got and feel guilty moaning.
Tis the cold, the sliding and the fear that you know the car will slide, the feet will slide and you don't really want either.....well who would eh?!
Stay safe and warm flower. ((((( ))))) and hopes xxx0 -
dorcas! What a fabulous tip! There is nothing worse than cold wellies and that is such a simples idea - I love it. It's snowing hard here at the mo and I should venture out later to put some rubbish in the bin - I may well give that a whirl! Ooooooooh! Warm wellies! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Cris,
You take care in all that slippy stuff, and keep wrapped up warm infact treat yourself to a day in bedhow nice would that be!
(((hugs)))

Hello Cris,
The ruts were what I was worried about for you. Not easy to pick away through at the best of times. I did not realise that the sheep were so far away from you. Love Iris’s rainbow leg warmers they look good on them.
So brave of you tackling the shed, where’s the pied piper when you need him?
Now if you want to send Bully round for dinner! You know I have a way with animals.
Sorry that the water is frozen I was half hoping that himself would have lagged that before he slunk off.
Many hugs,
Lv, Ix0 -
Hi Cris
Just popping in to say "hello" and to leave you with the everlasting tea flask to help to keep you warm in this chilly weather.
Love and ((()))s

Mmmmmmm.........wellies and cold feet, standing them in hot water is lovely, but if you'd like to retain some of that heat then line them with newspaper.
I was thinking you could use an insole from a pair of shoes as a rough template.
Only know about this, 'cos my grandad used to line our wellies with fresh paper every couple of days, I think a lot of people did then.
Sorry Cris, have hi-jacked your post! Everyone else has got in before me today.... hope it's not too bad down there now, my lovely. I wish it would send it our way as I am beginning to feel left out, besides, I haven't got any sheepses!
Love
Annie0 -
HI Cris,
well it is good to see you on herewell done on getting all the updates to load up and getting the old thing to work ..... mind it's often the old things that work the best eh?
As for payment in lieu of PA duties ..... I already have you booked in for two dates in Decemberwhich will probably leave me in debt to you
sorry about the frozen everything ..... we know the feeling but at least I can spend my time indoors if I choose.
Littlelegs says would the sheep like to borrow her sheepskin rugs just for a little while :?: she would want them back, but wouldn't want to think of them shivery, miserable and cold. She did mention something about payment dog food :? as she doesn't get fed enough
sleep well tonight my friend, and I hope tomorrow is brighter, warmer and less icy.
hugs (((())))
WOnky xxx0 -
Hello Cris
Sounds really, really hard work for you at the moment.. please take care on the roads..
Hope you've got plenty of eggs available for your eggs on toast.. mmm
Marion xx0 -
.... so who order this wind.... you can have it back
I think I am getting wimpish cus was out there trying to do something with the sheepsis window and well couldn't handle the cold at all... slunk back to the car and almost burst into tears cus my feet and hands just hurt too much and couldn't stop shivering..... all cus the wind is making it feel like -20  well that what they say but I recon colder
I did do the windows to some degree... one done right the other.... well a quick fix and got this better idea I make a temporary one in doors tomorrow o all I got to do is nail it up!
Put the old sheeps coat on the cold one and she said I don't like this.... well tough I don't much like wearing ll the bulky layers either but since she is cold it will help her even if it is a bit too small..... it matches Iris's leg warmers... well not her own, through it might, but the ones she gave the sheeps....... The others have much thicker or longer fleeces but this girl just hasn't got enough covering. makes you wonder how the flock sheep cope... well they don't always do they?!
GP rang today and amongst what he rang for I remembered to ask abut this paralysis thing I get. She reckons I should mention it to the rumo and said if I wasn't seeing him next month she would have written to him. Maybe they will operate after all eh?! I know they say its too risky but really whats to lose if its doing that as often a it is? remind me I said that eh.......
Hi Rose,
Oh flower what a lux a day in bed would be just now eh? You never know if it gets much colder hell might freeze((( ))) an a hope your doing ok and staying warm? xx
Hi I,
oh flower the ruts are a big problem! Here and at the sheepsis..... though the horse ones are slightly bigger and rounder and easier to fall over really..... the 2 toed cow ones are much narrower but unlike the horses they do bog out an area much quicker....
Told Bully he had an invite to dinner.....As long a Sid doesn't tell him he will come up..... They were also cold tonight in this wind so no bother a they didn't want to leave their shelter.....
Hope the mtx is being kind to you and even more importantly working? (((( )))) xx
Hi Tilly,
oh self filling tea... now that I do need. We kinda have it drip feed down here I am afraid.... good stuff and yep helps to keep you warm as well.
Hows the deer is he getting ready for sleigh pulling yet?Hope your doing okish? (((( )))) xx
Hi Annie,
I will try a combo when I have to go back into the hunters but for now the thermal lined trainers are still ok. Just as well cus I have 2 ruptured chilblains now and they hurt so much when warm and just when cold really start to go into hyper drive..... I wont escape the dip, not now....
The sheep are sending their's now to you as you sleep and I can't send mine cus it actually did melt today and is now solid ice and permafrost instead....I think Iris and Wonky have a lot to spare and be careful what you wish for my friend(((( )))) xx
Hi Wonky,
She said is that lamb flavoured food...... she doesn't know what the connection between her and lamb is so littlelegs can sayIts probably the wind chill and the fact she will be 11 next week so before I forget you are invited to her birthday party
One of the others likes her sugar rushes so the cake best be of candarell or similar eh?!
I so hope you get a big thaw as well soon. Its just not funny now is it?! I hope tonight's will miss you flower and it really does just warm up a bit. Its a bit warmer here but the wind is a killer..... I will not be going out in it too much tomorrow cus its getting too painful said the inner child unable to cope
Hope you slept well and yep will be your PA willingly my friend . Slurps and (((( )))) xx
Hi Marion,
Oh they are bad at laying just now. not an egg for days, in fact I only picked up one in the last 3 weeks... i think its called freeloadingI have said to them can they tell me why I am having to buy eggs?!
The roads were a bit better tonight a the highways managed to remember to send the gritters out
hope your dong ok there and stay safe and warm. (((( )))) xx0 -
Morning skezier, I hope you have not shivered your way tooo much thro the night. It was a tropical -6 up here, and only reaching zero today, apparently. We still have some lying snow but not a great deal - I think the north-east is the worst affected area of England, they have had huge amounts. Anyhoo, I hope the sheep appreciate your efforts to keep their shelter dry and a little warmer, and I hope your shelter is as cosy as it can be. Thinking of you. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Good Morning Cris
I hope the stove kept you toastyand that you slept ok in your own bed in the end.
We have snow of the deaper variety now and kids off school.
Daisy is in and out and finally decided it is a bit annoying (her legs are quite short).
I hope the wind isn't the hot air I sent down....cooling on the way
Love

Hi Cris ..
I was talkign to a patient whilst waiting to see my rheumy last week and she also has infusions of iloprost but had also had lots of problems with them - having to stay iin hospital for the full 5 days and having it put through very slowly over 24 hours...
Anyway, she told me she had recently been put on a trial of a tablet form of iloprost and was being seen every week by the consultant whilst on the trial..
I don't know if you had heard of this, so just thought I would mention it to you out of interest...
