and wonder of wonder, the bluebells are coming up, my fav! We have a big mixture, pink ones, Spanish ones and loads of originals. A delightful elderly lady saved me lots of seeds, I forgot to plant them in time, oh well, next year!!!

Just finished rest of grass, time to start on the first lot soon. The lords and ladies are sprouting everywhere, never quite get rid of them. Looks as though it'll be a bumper year for bindweed this year. and broken paths, the frost has caused most to break up. Mum just turned up with a tray of seedlings, we shall look like the lager advert with all the pots of flowers!

Yep this is the best time of the year for the garden, lavender will be out later, we've planted loads of them, ready to harvest next autumn, I'll have to deal with last years soon, I just put them in a paper bag, upside down and the heads fall off over the winter and then just pull the storks out.

I've just been chasing all the weeds out of the paths with my weed flamethrower, easy on the little ones.

A good year for the primroses, they've gone mad along with the grape hyacinths, japonica seems to have retreated this year, it's usually a maze of red flowers. The forsythia hasn't happened either. I'll have to start shredding some material or I won't have any mulch to put on the flower beds later.

To make the lavender grow and spread, you have to cut the storks back every year. My wife uses it, so we have been planting a lot and will do so again this year.

I'm a bit confused as to whether this is a serious thread or a bit like Val's Café in the garden ......but hey ho. :???:

On the serious side and not wanting to spoil any fun I just wanted to say I've just invested in some ratchet pruners/secateurs which are brilliant for arthritic hands. I can at last tidy up my plants independently - what a treat for a girl

I'm copying this onto the Simple Ideas thread on the LWA bit for all would-be gardeners.

    As you were

lindalegs hi and welcome, it is a sort of serious thread but does wonder at times the things youve mentioned sound realy good so will take a look . over the past couple of days ive turned a couple of wood pallets into a gate, a bin cubby(hidy hole for the bin so it cant be seen) which i just have to cover with some screaning, and a planter, which i will fill with plants on monday and place out the front.

wish the warmer weather would come back.
