I`m starting to think I`m never going to get out again. Can`t even see my car, just a huge mound of snow. Daren`t say anything to my lads, I`ll get told off for not putting it in the garage. Ah, well, what the eye don`t see!
Anyone want a mince pie? Just when I thought I`d shifted most stuff, I found a dozen, that I bought from M&S as "back-up".......Ange.
Hello Ange. Do you live up North. It's now 8 30 evening and hve seen the pics of Manchester. Now, that is how I remember the winters I used to have when I was younger. Now that is a bad snow.

This Tuesdayish, is it contagious??? Because I think I have it and it's worse than being Mondayish. That was bad enough.
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo tired. Think I need a cup of strong tea. perhaps some sugar. Did my MTX inj earlier. It hurt.

I`m in St Helens Joy, about eight miles from Liverpool, and it is really bad here at the moment.
I too remember those winters - I think we`re of the same generation - and how we all just got on with it. Bl**dy ell, I sound like me gramma!0 -

As said, saw the news - how awful for you. Daren't even think of the worst scenarios. Trouble is, modern cars just can't cope with it. Should take a lesson from Sweden and Norway.
Snow wheels. My OH has a job driving his Vauxhall Omega. Never had trouble with the Triumph 2000s and other old cars.
The news is on now and Gatwick are getting the bad snow, so what is going to happen to us. No snow yet. Just a bit earlier today that's all.
Pity they cannot predict the seasons correctly aswell.
They predicted a warm summer. and a mild winter. What a laugh.

HI everyone!
sorry you needed to send out the search party yesterday. felt a bit down yesterday ....snow again .... and first day hubby back at work and I missed having company a lot. Littlelegs isn't the same somehow, although I did get a few cuddles from her here and there
MORE snow today, but we are not as bad off as those of you on the 'wrong' side of the pennines ( sorry - couldn't resist  ) as there is only about 4 inches. I hope is doesn't all freeze tonight though, as it was bad enough under foot today without ice added into the mix
Angel - littlelegs will come and dig your car out for you if you will offer enough of a reward although I have so say that there is no saying where she might move the snow to
Had to go into town today to dentist ..... took my walking pole ..... fed up of being asked where my ski's are   :x :x :x :x :x was only funny the first 2 times ... byt the 2000th you get a bit cheesed off
right, here you go .... I have made a huge veggy stew today, and some pea soup ..... should keep us warm for a while. The joys of a slow cooker.
Oh dear .... yawning now .... maybe we'll get an unbroken night's sleep ......... we too have a dog who refuses to 'go' until the early hours of the morning, when she is only too willing to wake us up so she can go out and play in the snow :x :x :x :x
hugs to everyone - and special hugs for delboy if you are still feeling down.0 -

Hi Jan - soup -
how about chopping up all the veggies you can find (small) adding a little salt and a lot of pepper, adding what-ever-you-have (in my case today some left-over frozen steak-and-kidney gravy) or a stock cube or two, simmer till soft, throw in blender, chuck back into saucepan, add tin tomatoes/peas/whatever, mix well add more pepper, hey ho, veggie soup. If you want a meaty one, add canned steak or corned beef chopped very small or blended with a little of the soup?
Whatever else you add in, an onion is a must, but I use just a small one for the flavour.
Annie0 -
Here Annie
Caramels coming down the line to you
It's 16 inches of snow now. Please all be careful if you have to go out. Let us know your safe when you get back

This made me think of the latest Wallace & Gromit (Matter of Loaf and Death) when Gromit is trying to work out where to throw the bomb .... he chooses to save the ducks, kittens & nuns but throws it over the Yorkshire border instead  :shock:0 -
pixyandfaries wrote:sooo its just a case of chucking every thing you have in it then :? i have ............
potatos
carrots
leeks
a bag of frozen mixed stew veg
have frozen cooked chicken ,could get a breast out
i want it to be a thick dungy bread soup though
It really is quite simple like the others have said ...... just what you have in. Sometimes the mix is better thn others - you work out what works for you and remember it for next time!!!
I usually sweat a couple of onions until soft, then add the other ingredients plus some stock (I use a variety of stock cubes to add interest plus sometimes a tin of chopped toms & tom puree) & simmer until the veg is done. If you like a smooth soup then whizz it all, otherwise, to thicken it a bit you can whizz a small amount & add it back in.
The frozen veg can go in near the end, so can the cooked chicken, just make sure it gets cooked right through.
I sometimes put some red lentils in if it is a tomato based0 -
Jan
You can always add pearl barly, helps to thicken it up you don't need to put too much in.
We make it with lots of vegtables leeks, turnips, onions, carrots, peas. You have a garden?
You could grow all you veggie yourself, when it's ready you can blanche it and keep in freezer. In the winter just open up what you need,

pixyandfaries wrote:just going to make a nice hot cuppa, anyone eles for one

Jan
\Yes just plant things to use at the time and some ready for winter. Saves pounds in your house keeping. Blanche and freeze, tates better too.

Hello Berty.
I think I shall be doing scrambled eggs for myself.
I don't fancy anything fried today.
I have got to brave the cold a bit later this morning to get to the chiropractitioner.
Luckily, so far, we have not had the bad snow like everyone else.
It seems we may get some today then sunny on Thurs and Frid.
Sorry you beeps up North. Don't want to make you jealous.
