Sorry haven't been in for a while.
Really struggling with the cold. Even had to miss a day at work which isn't like me! p010.gif Think I had better take my tea c060.gif and go hide in the corner so you don't all catch it!
Hope you are all having a good evening, with or without the fireworks.
    Take care

Hi all - I'll have the usual builders with lots of sugar and um, errr, um, I know, scrambled eggs with bacon bits and chopped onion on toast. Can we manage that do you think? I always want such peculiar things when I'm not feeling right.
I am feeling better today, though!

    Hi all
After an arduous morning with my Rheumy Consultant - just over 2 hours. I am now told that I must try and lose some weight.
Now, can you tell me how someone who is on 1000 callories a day anyway lose any more weight.

Don't say exercise, because my consultant says that there is nothing I can do in that area. I can't swim because of my neck and shoulders. They are too weak from the PMR (Polymyalgeria Rheumatica) as are my hips and thighs. I would only make this worse. I can't walk very far because of bursitis in my hips. I do have one of those large gym balls and I use it but that hurts too. I persevere with it because it helps my back.

Now that I have to increase my steroids again. what chance do I have?
    See you all tomorrow.

    Joy

Unable to sleep, now, and saw your posting, Joy. Poor you! I've been there so many times with PMR, it's so frustrating. There is light at the end of the tunnel - I lost two stone last year. I have another one to go, like Joanne, but it's proving very stubborn. I go to the gym and use light weights to build up muscle strength, I've found it very good.
Have you had a look at the PMR/GCA website? The new northeastern one has a section with a number of exercises which can be done by us - if you haven't come across this before, I can PM you the details.

    Love

    Goodness Toni

How awful, no wonder you need some gin? I don't drive but that seems a tad excessive even to me. Have they got that right :? I know sometimes the labour charge is the big bit? Poor you, no wonder you are in shock. Hot sweet tea coming up.

Toni, I've brought you a bottle of home-made sloe gin - last year's, so should have quite a kick now! Lovely with a drop of bitter lemon.
Haven't made any this year, but have quite a stash left. It comes in very useful for news like that.............

I'll have my usual builders and er, umm, not quite sure - I'll sit here and read one of the books while I decide.

Thanks Annie. I have some weights so will give them a whirl. I went into Town this morning on the bus, and had to stand allthe way. No one would give their seat up. I had a job to hang on. Good job my OH was there to hold on to me. We normally go on the bus because there are no places to park in town any more. Especially if you are disabled. Had an appointment to get my eyes tested and I was happy to learn that there is no damage to the eyes. Apparently that can be a risk with PMR. I will have a look on that website. Have looked at others.

I always do hospital appointments by bus - it costs an arm and a leg to park there; I sometimes take myself off for an hour or two to the nearest 'town' to me. BUT I aways take my stick with me, I sometimes think those bus drivers are lunatics!
I'm checked for visual problems anyway - I'm diabetic and I have TA as well as PMR.
I have found that website very, very useful and the people there are lovely!

    Hi Anne
I couldn't find that site you mentioned.

I couldn't sleep because of the weight of the bed clothes on all my arms and legs. It hurt so much. I have the bed clothes propped up round my feet, but need something a big larger. I will ask the GP to refer me to the Pain Clinic again.
    I'm seeing him on Monday.
Anyway, no more typing for me. My fingers hurt.

    goodnight
    Joy Hope I sleep tonight.
