I can imagine, they did not have hoists it was hard graft then. Mrs Green needs a bed bath, mrs red needs a bath mrs blue needs the sheets changed again.

Being in hospital, recently well in December when I had my hand op, well a nurse was sent to help me wash as one arm was in a plaster cast.

When I'd had my bed bath I thought I would get up and dressed and sit in my wheelchair.

I was kept in bed, as no one knew how to get me out of bed. So bed I stayed. They asked how I manage at home I said it was just me and hubby managed on our own.

Although they have these aids, well maybe they did not it the ward I was in, I think it was quick stay ward. if they do, they don't use them.

I was well looked after though, I will say that.

A lot of nursing is theory based now and not ward based, so a lot of them dont know one end of a person from another, but times change, not sure if it for the better. Nursing is a lot of common sense and quick thinking and a lot of compassion. I always said, if I can make a difference, to each patient, each day, then I have done my job.

As I have been in hospital so much and for long periods at a time, that is so nice to hear. I have been treated so well at times. I made a lots of nurse friends before I went home. Some still write to me.

I used to be the pin cushion for the young nurses to practise their first injection on, if it helped them then I was pleased to do it.

I'm sure you did make a difference to a lot of people. Where would we be without people like you.

Hi to anyone and everyone, have read back a bit - have a lovely time Jan, been hoping you were OK. Glad the meds are working, too.

Julie, hope you feel better soon, have you had counselling before this? Hope it works for you.

Now, it's time for a builders and some apple pie and cream and a sit-down session by the window..........I am cold again today, but at least it's been bright and sunny.

I will have a quick coffee. I have been sleeping really well last few weeks. Have new meds for acid reflux and they are working very well. Hows you?
