Once they break the skin they are devils to get rid of.

Last year I was in respite in a Hospice when Bill was very very ill. I had them then and they tried everything.

They got that bad they got an airflow bed. That was nice but it was in segments and the air went from one to another . Well having no legs I kept slipping down and had to be rescued from half way down the bed.

    It was funny though.

Did they not put a donkey in the bed? We used to do that to stop people from slipping. The airflow beds are very good.

I was given Diamorphine when I had ulcers on my legs theywere so painful.
You may have done this treatment. I had to have them Debrided for my heel to toes then my treatment was Peroxide poured in them 3 times a day.

That was to try and promote heathy tissue for skin grafts. I used to hit the roof.

Then one day this lovely sister refused to do it unless I had Diamorphine

I do, we also used potassium permanganate solution and eusol wicks, but I guess they are long abandoned now. We used to give gas and air sometimes or pethidine before debriding. Peroxide is super painful, burns at the best of times, let alone on ulcers.

No the peroxide was used when they had done debriding down to the bone. That was done in theatres.

They poured that in the peroxide in after the debrideding to make it ready for a skin graft.

Went all throught that had skin grafts which are painful then it failed. I had Eusol oh boy.

I have led a very interesting life. :D

My hubby does not know how I got through that and coud still smile.

I take Ondansrton is it. Also I have injections that Bill draws up and gives to me. The trouble is it bruises my arms and it looks permanent they never go away.

    It is for sickness.

Eusol, eeek, I think they banned that while I was still nursing, but it was good stuff.

I know, just like my Dad, they said he would not live past 50 and he is 85 now, can barely move with arthritis and frozen joints, bless, but he tries and is so clever and well read, a real active mind. The times we have sat in hospital and the Drs have said, he is likely not to make it overnight................but, he rallied, time and time again.
Then I would be having heart attacks and then it was the folks that were visiting me, wired up like a spaghetti tree..........it went on for years, first Dad would be in, then me, then Dad, then me..........goodness, we are creaking gates love.

    Hi Trish,

Have sent some pics through but they are far more graphic than the last 2...... Only doesn't do anything remotely like text book foaling (well it would detract from valuable eating time after all) and has lent on me with each of hers...... Hence why I keep an eye on her.

Well one thing is certain we have experienced life if the unpleasant side.
Then knowing you were a nurse, well you could hae had me to look after so I have a lot of respect for nurses.

I have had good times been abroard on holiday travelled to America 4 times.
Hubby is hoping we might try and go back next year but it depends on how I am.

It takes a lot of planning making sure I get oxygen and other things.

I think that me being so ill has made some extra special bond with hubby I cannot explain it. He has had a lot of worry with me bless him.

That is why I decided I must never moan and groan. :D:D

We have indeed, from all sided of the beds. I enjoyed my job and everyone said I was a good nurse.
I loved America, been three times and enjoyed it so much. don't want to go again, a home bird now, very much so and don't like to be far away from it ,where I feel safe.
We are going out to lunch tomorrow, after a little drive over Pendle to look at the views, no intention of making lunch at home 8) I think I am fading now, so I might have to move, have a cuppa and poddle to bed. Back is biting, knees like melons and fingers are not working too well.

I will say n night, you take lots of care, hugs in abundance, say hi to Bill. Love XXXX Bubbles.

He must have been a very tough man in himself and to get through years of hospitalization well he was a fighter.

I expect you are like him.
