Dorcas Iris-TWR one week on. I'M back!

Good to hear you in good form Iris. Hope you continue to mend. I must say I'm a bit shocked that they've been making you do your own dressings one handed. As you say, you're used to doing them now but honestly would'nt you think they'd have arranged a nurse to do them at least a few days when you got home and taken it from there. At least you've not had to wait about for a nurse to arrive at any time of the day.
I've no doubt at all that you'll make up for lost time once you get going. Good luck for tomorrow.
I had acupuncture today and am heading for an early night, she's brilliant my physio. Saw GP this week and he says to stick with 50mg Amytriptyline and I'm back to work monday.
Will check in again soon, big hugs, rita0 -
Iris, glad to hear you sounding so perky! I agree about the dressings, they should not have left you to manage one-handed. Still you got used to doing it quickly.........not sure I'd be able to cope with either hand!

Hi Iris, Hope all goes well tomorrow. That seems daft to say the least re the dressings.
Hope you are still managing to sleep ok.

Hello dorcas, I hope all is well today: wishing you reduced pain, a healing wound and lovely dreams of Dr K. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

thanks speedy, ironic, annie, toni, damsel, rita , marion and all
.....I am feeling better in myself and quite 'perky' and positive. Wally definitely healing so i'm expecting a gold star this afternoon. I'm also a whizz at one handed wound dressings...maybe I've found a valuable new talent
Marion..I agree that having steroid injs isn't straightforward, as it does raise expectations that sometimes just ain't fulfilled. and we do have to rely on the advice we're given by our docs.
The IM I had two weeks ago was a 'wrong decision' so it seems and just complicated the healing process so I won't do that again so soon post op!..
rheummy were trying to help me with the other jangling joints while I wait (and wait) to start infliximab, and although the IM wasn't spectacularly effective and took longer to 'kick in' it has helped me... confusing isn't it?
Rita, I'm glad your physio is so good...is she the person also doing the acupuncture? what part's being treated with the acu? is it helping? very interesting to hear about it as other peeps have been talking about acu on other threads...
also good to hear that you're settled with the amatriptyline...I do hope you are feeling better rested and that a return to work won't 'take it out of you'. let us know?
Damsel..you are incorrigible  keep it up.
I won't know who to dream about when my consultant surgeon returns from his hols next week...as he too is lovely!
Cris..we are missing you!!!...hope the BB works today and you're not too tired and sore from the sales yesterday.xxx

Hi iris
Good luck with this afternoon - i think you will get a gold star
You ahve been a good girl after all and Wally has behaved too
Will be thinking of you later and hope he is as hunky as you remember and you weren't delirious at the time
Please feed back later...
Love
Toni xx
Cris was ok last night but still a bit cross
She textd and is flying up to be with you Hope she behaves0 -
Hi all
'Dr Kildare' pleased with wally's wound..said he is 'cautiously optimistic but wants me to watch for any signs of the wound 'slipping back' and to phone if worried at all.
still wants wally to be held captive in his splint until I see my consultant on Tuesday morn, but to stop the inodine and stick with sterile dressings only..... I can cope with that :!:
Cris was with me... still probs with broad band up to her eyes with burning hawthorn and ragwort now...never a dull (or a restful) minute for our Cris!
'Hope's behaviour was atrocious...refused to get off the escalator and caused such a ruction. In the end had to be bribed.....ate all the buns in the museum cafe too.
feeling very pleased with myself until I got back home and discovered I'd been in two taxis, two trains, twice on the subway and escalators and walked up to the hospital and seen the lovely doc... with my T-shirt on inside out.  ...nobody said anything?!
Am off for a wee lie down to get over my mortification!

Classic! And well done you for owning up when you didn't have to - we promise not to tease you. Oh dorcas, one handed dressing ain't easy is it? I'm glad that all is going well tho - make sure you get some rest now and have a good week-end. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Ohh Iris!! Must be because you are spending so much time with your mate Wally!! No one probably even noticed.
Sounds promising though, even though consultant is erring on the side of caution. Hopefully Tuesday consultant will give Wally the go-ahead to escape the splint and start exercising again.
Speedy
'Tis odd without Cris, hope she manages to get online again soon. I hate no access to the web.I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Iris
Pleased to hear that the doctor was 'cautiously optimistic' - it does sound like things are on track again..
Oooh you will never live that down about your T-shirt!!
Best wishes

Bet you took a real beemer when you realised Iris, still bet you had a little giggle to yourself too. Delighted to hear they are happy with your progression. Now just relax as best you can and have a good weekend. Don't be getting carried away just because you're on the mend.
Hope Cris gets the BB sorted out soon. I don't use it much but it's great to know it's there.
I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things monday and it's only for 1 week then I have a week on annual leave.
big hugs, rita0 -
Hello Iris,
Well things look as if they are back on track thank goodness.
Sorry you have had all the worry though. Hope the Loons are being good.
Love the T-shirt boo boo, sounds like me. You get so worried about not being on time etc that you miss the basic things.
Well done with all the travelling brave girl.
Lv, Ix0 -
thanks Ironic, DD, speedy, marion, barbara and toni.
I feel an absolute idiot with the T shirt bloomer.

it's onwards and upwards.
thanks for all your support.
Iris xx

Hi Iris,

So good to see you back
So good to hear how well Wally is finally doing too Iris
  I love the Tshirt story too   Sorry, but it WAS funny...wasn't it?? Is your red face the right colour now?
You take care and perhaps it's time to get some 'help' with dressing....?? Joking honest
Love
Toni xx0 -
Toni,you is a very funny madam......x
I'll be inspecting my 'dressings' very carefully now for more signs of my obviously impending dementia... .bet you've done worse eh :?:
Glad to see you back Cris...your tin cans are working perfectly. tell Hope...no more escalators!
Iris xx0 -
Now, knickers first (label either to the back or the left side depending on brand), one leg per hole only, then bra (the hooks go at the back unless it's a front-loader), trousers (again one leg per hole, any zips usually go at the front but occasionally can go at the side - ooooh, tricky!), now for the hard part - the T-shirt. Hmmmmmm, this roundy bit goes at the top, there's a label that should be on the inside and goes at the back of the neck so it's .....this and then ........that and .......HURRAH! I'm dressed! Oh noooooo! A cardigan! All those buttons! Where do I start? Heeeeeelllllppppppp!
Morning dorcas, hope you are OK today. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi damsel.
this dressing milarky....tricky isn't it. :?: think I'll just stick to jimjams today
Iris xxxx
ps. Wally is smiling at me this morning....a kind of side on, 'stitchy' sort of grin. :P0 -
Nothing better than a jarmy day! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
-
Hey DD so that's where I goes wrong xx
Hi Iris,
Hope is sulking now.... she can't help that the 'documentary' on sheep using trains has left her with expectations beyond her abilities her manners she has promised to get into her best ones next week.......she also said something bout her t-shirt wasn't on back to front and she thinks that's a big tick in the plus box
Glad it all gong back on track for you now and sending the right Honorable Lady Wishtiria Give-it-to-Me up with greens and custard creams as well as a chew stick or 3.... now she is posh! We lesser mortals are always left with no doubt we are sub standard......
Hope your resting still though?! Hey i got speared by the cockerel last evening.... made a puncture as well ..... don't half hurt but at least he didn't make a whole in my jeans just my leg ((((( ))))) xxx and baaas from Hopely!
Daisy is a sneak Toni and Hope said she will not be so honest in her next email....... But as you know she isn't too bright Cris who is bringing down the tone again....  xxx0 -
Hi Cris
Welcome back - we have missed you so much..
I think you should invest in a suit of armour - what with dog bites and cockerel piercing - never mind what the horses can do to you !!
I am happy today - have just been to see some friends' 2 Sussex chickens... They are so pretty and so intelligent too.. (the chickens that is - my friends are male so they're not pretty but they are intelligent..)
Marion x0 -
Hi Marion,
Now that's a good idea I got 2 light Sussex amongst mine ad they are going to be a lot bigger..... Hey your friends don't want a cockerel do they He looks like a maran but has Sussex in there as well.... I am going to clip his spurs cus all joking apart its really hurt and is some deep. I cant twist my leg or bend to have a good look at it but..... it don't half hurt
Glad you have had a good day and nice to be back Cris xx0 -
Hi Cris, get some antiseptic on that spur wound wont you and have words with that cockeral .... something along the lines of do it again and it'll be the cook pot for you laddy ...
Hi Iris, glad you and Wally are feeling on the mend.
Speedy
(PS now we know the real reason why DD has naked days ... it's not to do with the overwhelming heat ... it's when she loses her dressing instructions. Only joking!! Your dressing instructions made me laugh, DD, they are like my "how to .... after a hip op" instructions.)I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
I think DD was being facetious Speedy - because Iris went to the hospital with her T-shirt on back to front!!
