Hi all 👋

Certainly felt the cold today, much different to yesterday's little window of outdoor activity etc. Here's my new Mr B, frog (there is a Mrs B somewhere around), he's a little bit 'leucistic' so I will know him anywhere, look as his super face 😀😍. I'm thrilled with him, and he is quite bold. Someone likes my berries, anyway 😊👍️. And just a little robin too sitting on the arch beside my non-flowering winter-flowering clematis 😬 not sure it likes it there even though it's healthy. Yes plenty of food out today, I need a new fatball holder so for now they are having some crumbled up. Yay to the spoiler alert 😄👍️ long may we learn a new thing 🤭 I keep meaning to, some capital cities for example? 😳 or something about the planets, but whether facts would stay in.. 😬. No snow forecast for here really, mostly sleet I think, but I will take your tip and top my stuff up too - Sleek had no problems today - she is certainly well prepared 😮😂 good to know! I've been putting some scrap metal out for days I felt sure they would be round at New Year to see if people have put out cookers & fridges etc, but no sign, bah. It nearly is twelfth night isn't it, yikes - but not quite yet Elfie. Isn't he doing a lovely job 😊. Blueberry yogurt eh, yes that'll come out of sofas no bother 😄 (no idea why I'm harping on about upholstery and houseproud-ness, I'm not exactly Norbot myself, "nice and tidy"! I do see that phrase sticking in my head 😂). Not much other news, yes the nosegay stuff is causing ructions for sure, I do think it will see people leaving - I will have a selling push myself and probably do the same. The thing is people are of the opinion that they don't much care if private sellers and small businesses do leave 🙄. Every sympathy for Kari too 😔 enough said. Take care all have a good Sunday :) xx

Certainly very cold today we are forecast sleety sort of stuff but not snow really. Yes the Easter eggs it's just silly isn't it 🙄 I wish they wouldn't. Yet they clear the shelves of xmas things almost on the dot, if the right time for things doesn't matter now, why not carry those on for a bit too. I love all the soaps 😂😂 especially when I saw constant lawn mower down the side of the neighbours one omg 😱 'a wide berth', I should say so. And I liked the musical joke, very good 😊👍️. Not as much snow as we were threatened with honestly. Started later too although the 'warning' is there till midnight tonight and it's still coming down though the flakes are teeny tiny spiky ones. Perhaps they will turn to rain as the day warms up?

Joan in fact messaged me first, last night, to say she had snow before us. Joan I am so glad you've no pain at all from your hip that's fabulous and you are now protected by your new infusion so that should not happen again. Twelfth night is today. Elfie is ready and has dragged the boxes upstairs ready. He says it's his day as it has Elf in it. Bless him. Actually he was making a real effort last night he put the kettle on….

Today he intends to cook dinner how elfful is he. Perhaps he'll do a Norbot too 'nice and tidy'!

Did I tell you the spam bots blanked out a word the other day for me again? It was the other word for a ditch (also beginning with a 'D') around a field which a farmer might be clearing out.

Afternoon all 👋

Not as much snow for me as that frog, and the rain sorted the remainder out 😕. Long gone in time for Sleek to get a catsi back, so the snow plough is still in my drive, attracting hardly any attention at all 😂. As it's the last of the xmas hols so to speak we were just doing silly things, playing games and eating leftover xmas sweets - though the vegan fizzy jelly fish weren't to her taste, funnily enough 🤔😄. Have been out with plenty of bird food, ooh yes speckly chicks please that would be lovely 😊. Well Elfie has been a little trouper over Christmas hasn't he, manning the kettle (yes perfect mug 😀) and even dinner plans, well I hope it's a triumph for his special night 🍽️🤭. How is your tin cupboard now? I only had to throw out a couple of things, now I need to do the others, packets etc. I suppose I should do a grocery shop soon, can't say I can really be bothered though - hopefully I won't get a bag of someone else's unsuitable cook-in sauces &c this time! Thinking about that afterward it would probably have been less trouble all round to replace that person's items than to come back here, and leave me to donate the duplicates, it wouldn't have been much money, wish I'd suggested it 🙄. When is your next food bank? Hope you are having a good Sunday, this rain will not help the general sogginess will it, or the 'ditches', yes, well edited! Hope nothing of yours has been frosted in the garden or in the upcoming minus temps, and that you get a good day for your bulbs soon. Well the tree is down all decs away. The bungalow looks HUGE and it's snowing again. 3 hours of it ahead here. You can send Sleek home in that snow plough in case the farmer needs it. Glad the neighbours don't seem to have noticed😳

She was shaking her head at those fizzy vegan sweets she only likes the Eton mess flavour of that brand so you know😉

I ended up with 2 carrier bags of someone else's stuff once. They made me keep it. I gave it to the new neighbours as it wasn't vegan mostly kids stuff like fish fingers…. I don't mind that as much as I do if my stuff is missing.

Yes the birdies will need help again in a minute when I can see and have my boots on. Imagine some speckly baby black birds in your garden!🤗

Like you I only threw away a few bits which was gratifying. If Paul wasn't here I think I could live out of that cupboard for another lockdown! Well done doing yours. Packets today? Shall we? I only need fresh stuff really veggies and the like, but honestly I could manage. Still doing my 30 a week though. Beans, peas, lentils, nuts and seeds😊 Sharing with the birds🤣

Hi all 👋 afternoon for me again, not exactly a NY resolution but trying not to be on the net too much in the evenings or I wander off & do other stuff and consequently get about 4 hours sleep 😳 that was a rarity, last night, I just woke up early as well for once.

No snow here today frog, too much heavy rain in the early hours for that, another reason I didn't get to sleep promptly. Yours is determined to hang about it seems, oh well it's pretty 😬 I suppose, but a bit late to be Christmassy. Yes the space you get back after the decs does hit you even after that short time doesn't it, my shelves look very empty with no cards up. Oh Elfie, you are here! 🤭 well done him, angling for a let-off 👍️. Oh go on let him, I bet he has a 'list of things to do' 😉. Gosh Uncle Elfie though 😮!! little Elfie is a tiddler next to him! yes a rest from windowsill sitting seems well earned. Thank you for the family snap! Oh Sleek set off nicely in the snow plough, that worked out very well - she did hold up quite a few cars on her way, and no of course I didn't slip her sixpence to do that on purpose 😉. Serve them right. There used to be someone who kept a rusty van out front on their lawn much tutting from the neighbours, apparently 5 vehicles on a messy square of gravel is ok now though 😒. How are the cupboards? yes packets, I am doing asstd teas jars pasta etc. I am appalling at pulses I would be living out of my well-known biccie cupboard I think if cut off from supplies 😳. Awful. I don't 100% get on with beans I don't think, so not all my fault, but I could do much better. Nuts & seeds not so bad though. Must get some more walnuts I have them partly for the Omega 3 (I haven't wandered off from the supplement topic btw, I am still thinking) and I will remember about Sleek's sweets, those fizzy 🐱 😉 (at least I could type the 2nd word I suppose unlike the other cat word we get filtered for 😬 yes I got yours straight away, I never look back to see if I've slipped up only notice if my post goes into the queue or something). I did see both robins today, and a few of the smaller allium bulbs are showing their faces already 😀. Hope your weather isn't as bad as forecast maybe, have a good evening :) xx

Hello Joan, oh it is still jolly cold, I did go out the back briefly in the sun but it didn't make a lot of difference. Still it's not treacherous underfoot thank you and we have lots of bright days coming it says 👍️ so pavements should be absolutely fine. Mrs B was there alright the other day with Mr, just didn't get her in the picture. Two robins as well, where are they thinking of nesting, that's the question 🤔. Hi to bosh, glad things going well for littleys well give or take catering choices and nice to have a minor 'takeaway' 😊. Haven't done a lot today myself, apart from chores etc, the trouble is this weather with is that I only have a bath here not shower and once I'm in I don't want to get out and consequently the hot water makes me sleepy afterwards 😬 mind you I had some to rest catch up on. I will have a look at the book you mention 👍️ I have read nothing for ages apart from light stuff or factual like gardening or something. I wondered if I'd have another shot at Thoreau's Walden because you'd think it would be up my street, solitude & nature etc, after the phantom neighbours 😬 but I can't remember if there is much hunting & fishing etc. I think he was in two minds re that side of things but maybe not the best book for me. Other than that I have a couple of fantasy novels to get round to might be more my level atm 😂. Have a good evening hope your mum is ok 🤞 when is your bloods? xx

Yes , catering problems choices may be an issue ibuprofen with salt, it May be tasty, but not all that healthy perhaps it just needs a bit of cayenne pepper to give it that “kick”?😂

I’ve been feeling sleepy, almost all day really, so I do understand, especially about warm water and baths, those always make me feel extremely lethargic

I'd far rather go to 'Can't goes' any day over 👢👢 they do a lovely impossible wrap which is vegan. BR is quite right. Much tastier food that the options they have there shampoo starter, eyeglasses main and baby-food dessert🤢

I have had an awful night worrying about my little cat. She isn't well (stomach upset maybe?) I've been taking small quantities of water to her to drink, but she looks so sad and hasn't eaten at all yesterday nor this morning. She's 15 now😒 So like it or not it might have to be the vets for her today. She sicked up her dry cat food (I leave a few out) overnight Sunday. Then yesterday her actual food came up. She spent the whole day moping around seeming very listless. Ate nothing at all. I took water to her she had a little I think she has an upset stomach. I actually went outside and dug up her poo so assess things. Gross eh, but the vet will need to know. I think I will have to take her there this morning.

I'm sure she'll sneak over to 'tell on me' later on or at least facetime you.

Elfie is staying up and helping Paul by planning our motorhome trip to France for this summer

Uncle Elfie is huuuge isn't he?! I think Paul has been impressed with how much Elfie has been doing around the house so he can stay upstairs.

I quite miss the cards and tree, but not the mess really.

Lovely to know your bulbs are already thinking about making an appearance.

I can manage beans ( carefully) but onions and mushrooms are a bigger problem. Spring onions and that asafoetida are better for me.

More snow due in a bit but Paul is local if I need his help.

My little cat decided to eat about 5 minutes before the vets opened so she seems to be on the mend. I will however keep a very close eye on her today. She hardly moved last night her little head hanging low tail down too. Only drinking little laps of water if I brought it right under her chin. She was scarily listless, but let's see how she gets on today paws crossed🤞

Hi folks 👋

Frog you poor thing 😟 so sorry you had a worrying night and a woebegone kitty. I do hope she is still picking up like she was doing when you updated us, are you just 'watching' for now - maybe something disagreed with her I hope it is something explicable like that. So glad we are not still in awkward holiday out of hours times if you do need to speak to the vet. Thinking of you both kettle definitely on, I was awake on & off last night I would have left one for you ☕️ xx Elfie has the right idea, that's what we all feel like (looking ahead to something nice) it's not always easy to muster the necessary but this weather it does help pick you up. Hope it isn't too bad and maybe your snow didn't come to much - there were a few moments of tiny twinkly sleety stuff here but nothing since. Very little happening with me, today's cupboards yielded some cupcake icing from 2019 (the only time I've ever bought it, shows I didn't much need it then either!) and some orzo from 2022. I'm sure that was in date 5 minutes ago 🤔. They have had a good clean too and sort out of any old coupons recipes scraps of paper etc. I can't chuck out really nice empty tea boxes as you can imagine, that's my downfall 😳. Oh I've cleaned some tools too an extra proper clean secateurs etc 👍️. Will be popping in later in the meantime paws all crossed for little cats and their mothers 🤞 xx

Hello Joan, I hadn't heard of any stabbings but the fact they are almost daily news is just awful, violence just seems to have become casual almost with teenagers and young people, they grow up among this knife culture now and just don't really think of the consequences 🤷‍♀️. Certainly no warm weather here for a bit it will be in the minus 4s 5s and 6s here at night the next few days apparently 😬 but I've got so sick of the rain that now I would rather the cold however bad (even though I still grumble 😉). Hope it's not too horrid where you are at least we have had sun 🌞 xx

Maybe my iron is a bit low too you never know 🤔 they don't bring it up at appointments but I suppose it's worth me taking a bit anyway as I'm never likely to be awash with iron, not eating meat etc. 21st is not too bad for yours. Hope things ok at HV today and you had a good night yourself. I am dreaming such a lot at the moment wonder if the cold does that 🤨. Thank you about the resolutions I am also trying to be efficient about fitting in as many little chores early so I don't have them hanging over me, also means I can have a rest and know there isn't much to do. Good luck with the meds Stuart, I know it's not quite normal sleep they give you but the extra will help you make up for some you've lost so that must be good. VC Poem by me called “Eyedrops Substitution, But hopefully no verbal convolution”
It was early morning, I went to the shop known as “ all those pharmacists are in cahoots”
My intention was to buy yet more eyedrops for my dry winter eyes, but I had just bought new snow boots
So money was tight, thus I thought hard and had a revelation
Why buy eyedrops when nasty M’s tears are free? The thought was a kind of liberation
Unfortunately, those eyedrops gathered at the coffee group
Were acidic and burned me like overheated soup
So instead, I utilised the tears shed by BR,shed when he had to have aspirin instead of chicken fried in spice
They were scented with jelly babies, baby blue teddy bears, “marrots” and all things nice
