Bubbles, it sounds as if the restaurant is very popular. I'm sure the staff will be pleased with their present.

Bet you're glad your dentist visit is over. It is a costly do isn't it?

Oh my goodness Toni. I thought I was bad enough spending £44 on things I didn't go for. Thanks for the offer of asking little Ted to help with Elfie. I've just seen a photo of him sitting on top of the Xmas tree and the poor angel on top of the sitting room lamp so I guess he got out of the laptop.

Karen, a friend of mine knitted an elf, Elfie, and told her 3 year old that he had been sent from Santa to make sure he was being a good boy. Teddy tied him to the train track one day so he had to spend some time in the local hospital and then went on holiday to recover. His friend, Mr Jingles, came to stay to replace him. They have been getting up to all sorts of mischief.

Well I managed to pull a muscle at the bottom of one side of my back so been hobbling about all day. Can't sit for long or it gets much worse. Got lots to do too. I've asked for next Monday and Tuesday off so hopefully I'll get caught up. It's very very windy here, blowing down the chimney and through the door and the rain is battering against the windows. Glad I'm all cosy inside. Hope it's not too bad where you all are.

Hi Karen, Barbara, Toni, Christine, Rose and all.

Boy what a windy evening  I have banked up the fire, tucked the curtains behind the radiators and made sure that marigold and yack are safe and warm. Cuddles is already in the chair by the fire and is not giving it up for love nor money.

£18 for a check up is a real bargain Barbara and do hang on to the NHS payments, when we go it is like "how much" £35 for a clean, £90 for a filling, makes my eyes water. Still, he is a dentist I trust and have known since 1989 so I won't change now.

Let's not talk about shopping, we went for a "look" in Curry's, (other electrical outlets are available) lol. We happened to wander down to the tv area and were amazed at how things have come on in such a short time, like the last couple of years. We tried out the active 3D and I nearly fell over, with things coming out of the tv to get me !

Anyway, to cut a long story short, our new tv is being delivered on Sunday :santa: :o I had to have a chair brought to me and a glass of water, not because of the tv, but I was feeling quite iffy and needed my meds.

We will call it our Christmas present to each other, or something like that :D Why not eh.

Now for the Christmas shopping, eeek.

Time for rests, everyone take care and I hope no damage was done in the terrible wind and rains. XX Bubbles

    Morning Everyone :)

Well it's out with Vista and in with Windows 8  . My beloved laptop finally expired and a replacement has taken his place lol. It's taking me a while to get to grips with the new layout etc, but getting there.

Christine, I love your stories of Elfie and friends :). When my daughter was about 4 she started talking to an 'imaginary' friend called Roly. He was as real as her 'real' friends. Needless to say, when things started going wrong - it was always Roly's fault :). I remember having to take her to our doc's after she had a nasty fall at playschool. She was carefully examined and then Emily asked the doctor to take a look at Roly. He went along with her too :)
Hope your back feels a little better soon :)

Barbara, I hope your doc prescribes the patches for you. I was given them for a while and they did take the edge off the pain - so fingers crossed for you :)

Toni, the cost of shopping is becoming a nightmare isn't it? I think you need £20 for what £10 used to buy a short while ago. We certainly shop around a lot more than we used to.

Bubbles, we also had high winds yesterday, but today it is quite different - lots of sun and it is very still :)

Well I had better make tracks. I won't be back before xmas, so wish all cafe friends a peaceful and a very 'Happy Xmas'. Hope you all enjoy a wonderful time :)

    Afternoon all

Toni, thanks for filling me in with the elfie, teddy and Mr. Jingles story.

And Christine on filling me even more. I do hope you manage to get those two days off next week. And how did you manage to pull a muscle, you need wheat bags to help with the pain.

And Bubbles a new telly for xmas. With these 3D tellies, do you have to wear the glasses or not. I haven't a clue. And why shouldn't you get something new around xmas.

Catie, have a wonderful xmas with plenty of food and good company and we shall look forward to hearing all about it when you get back home.

We had the heavy winds last night, but luckily no damage. On that point has anyone heard from Barbara. I wonder how bad they got the winds where she lives.

Right, going to sit by the fire, feeling cold, we've all gone down with a flu virus. :( Hope everyone has a good afternoon and sending hugs to all.

Did you get a 3d tv Bubbles. I've tried them but I didn't like it. Some of it looked computer animated. I think why not buy yourselves a Xmas present like a tv.

Happy new laptop Catie. I'm sure you'll soon get used to it. How sweet that your daughter was concerned about Roly. And nice of the doctor to go along with it. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Are you going away?

Karen, I have asked for the 2 days off but my boss has been away. I had to take today off as I could hardly walk today and didn't think I'd even get to work so we'll see if I get the 2 days next week. I think I did it just by bending and turning at the same time. I keep dropping things but they'll have to stay there for now. :candycane: Hope you all recover soon.

Barbara, I can never understand why letters between GPs and hospitals takes so long. As you say, faxes go immediately. It is awkward thinking of presents for people who have birthdays near Xmas, isn't it? It's my grandson's and 1 niece's before and a granddaughter's and a niece's ust after. Fortunately, they all ask for money. I had to phone my boss to say I wasn't coming in today. Could hardly walk. My back is a little better so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

I did manage to get some ironing done so not a complete waste of a day. Watched some tv and sorted some paperwork out.

Think I'll have a hot chocolate by the fire.

Hi Catie It is GOOD to see you and I am proud of you sussing wndows 8 when the time comes for me you will have to help me out!!

I agree with you about the cost of food - things have really gone up!!! Things go up by 30p these days rather than 1 or 2p

My Lucy has a monkey (Freya Malawaya) who was naughty too oddly - she nibbled Lucy's fingernails and all the skin round her fingers too when she was about 5. We had to bandage them up at night be then Freya couldn't get at them. Poor Roly - I bet he hurt himself too

Toni, hope your friend was ok and that his wife recovers from her surgery quickly. A Christmas do and shopping? You have been busy. Feet up now for a while. Glad your back is behaving. Hope you neck starts behaving soon. Naughty Freya biting Lucy's fingernails. Hope she's not still doing it. Doesn't seem to be any damage here from the wind. I used my tens machine on my back. First time. Don't think it's done anything though. Rest does seem to be working better than keeping moving. Thank you for asking.

A late evening to one and all, hope all are as good as can be. We had just gone out with the in laws this morning, mobile rang, Brother is Law had passed away, he had been ill, but it was a big shock none the less. Left us reeling. Going over to OH Sister today, to offer our support and do what we can to help. It will be difficult and a very emotional day, so a friend in a pocket would be appreciated.

I might not get on for a day or two, will see what pans out, Christmas is kind of out of the window.

I will sit by the fire and just have a moment with cuddles. Take care xxxxx Bubbles

Oh Bubbles :xmas_cry: I am so very sorry about your BIL and of course was there with you in your pocket. I do hope SIL will be alright so very close to Christmas. My friend whose husband died of cancer (yep another one ::) ) she called round today - it's been 4 years and she still struggles this time of year :?

    Christine
    - I reckon with back often rest is the only thing when they are in 'spasm' like yours sounds to be. That and heat for me. Good news is Feya only bites Lucy's nails sometimes now. Probably because she is also 16 like Lucy

    Barbara
I bet your tree looks lovely after Baby helped redecorate it for you :madnoel: GC's in bed lucky things!! Lucy has finally broken up today at 12 :)

Barbara, I'm sure the baby made a good job of decorating the tree. I hope your hubby convinces the insurance company. They always try it on, don't they?

Bubbles, I am so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Even when someone has been ill for a long time, I think it is still a big shock. Condolences to all of you. Take care of yourself too.

Toni, bet Lucy is happy that she has finished and is now looking forward to Christmas.

I decided to walk in to town today as my back was feeling a little better. Took me half an hour when it normally takes 10-15 minutes. I even thought about calling in to work to try and do a bit but changed my mind and just bought cocos and came straight back home. Sitting in the computer chair is quite comfy but sitting for a while just makes me stiffen up. Probably for the first time ever, I'm bo-o-o-ored.

Been so busy with Christmas and ( also with my boy and also catching up with sleep) its all going well and have received most gifts I ordered. Not gone so mad this year.

Toni we've been shopping TWICE and don't seem to have much food!

Lovely Charlie is visiting tomorrow. My other grown-up Babe has got another job so now back to 3 so has to work around the Christmas period to keep the wolves from the door.

Have very kindly been given a steroid jab by the Rheummy on Thurs as my knees were so swollen. So that is my Christmas present sorted!

Hope to pop in soon and spend some quality time with you all .

    Hello everyone,

I`m so sorry not to have been in the cafe for such a while, and I have really missed you all. I couldn`t let this time of year pass though without calling in. I haven`t had the chance to read what everyone`s been up to yet, but I will. I do hope that you are all coping, especially with all the extra work that this time of year brings.

I have the most beautiful granddaughters in the world!! They have the loveliest names too, but their mums are not happy to have them put on a public forum. Such a shame, I`m bursting to say them. I just wish they weren`t so very far away from me though, geographically, but c`est la vie.

I am absolutely great now, physically. Well, except for a "dropped" right foot - nerves dead in my toes - which is affecting my balance a little bit when I walk.....I would be very interested to hear Mr O`s take on this. I am starting physio after Christmas to see if that helps. Considering what I had though, and how close I came to Goodnight Vienna, I count myself lucky that that`s all I`m left with.

Emotionally has been a very different matter. Having gone through nearly three months in various hospitals, and major surgery, I still managed to keep really positive, So I was shocked rigid to fall down a big black hole - metaphorically speaking! - once I was home. Also, I took myself - slowly - off Morphine and Gabapentin, and that was a nightmare. All done now though, and I feel so much more alert. My lovely GP has been an angel, and persuaded me to have AD`s. They have helped a lot, although my sleep patterns are now all over the place. This will improve in time apparently. I hope so, as there is nothing so lonely as feeling like the only person in the world who is awake.

I will have one of Toni`s posh caramel coffees - I am a complete nutter for anything caramelly, especially salted caramelly - and sit by the fire, and read back.......Rosie.x.

i'm struggling to focus-i downed the last of the baileys before OH stole it for the bread and butter pudding. Not a wise thing to do when you are in charge,

Hi Rosie glow-I am sorry you have been in the black hole. Its not a nice place. But at least you now feel a bit better. Shame you cannot tell us the Grandchildren's lovely names but do understand their desire for privacy.

Barbara I know queing is a nightmare. you need to buy one of those fold up seat on a stick things. I stood and waited half an hour for my son to come home yesterday and had no problems at all having had the steroid jab. I do wish I felt like this all the time.

More presents arrived through the post today but also my youngest went to her friends and played some games and now wants them. i had to explain we are running out of time.

made a lovely chicken broth tonight.

Hi Coco. Good to see you back. Those cakes look delicious.

Toni, I was thinking that Elfie's cakes needed a little something. lol Hmmm, wonder where all the empty bottles came from. :carolers: :presents1:

Barbara, I use photobucket. Wonder why it won't work for you. I sign in then click on upload. Once I've chosen my picture and it uploads, I click on img which copies it then paste it on here. Yes, only 4 more sleeps. Not long now.

Hi Elizabeth. Hope you have caught up on your sleep and that your son is looking forward to Christmas. You'll be looking forward to Charlie coming. That's good news about your other daughter. Hope the steroid jab is working. Baileys? My favourite drink. :madnoel:

Hi Rosie, good to see you in here again. That's wonderful to hear that you are so well now after all you've been through. There's nothing better than having grandchildren. Do you use skype to keep in contact with them?

My son and dil came round this afternoon and put all the furniture in the bedroom back, put all the Xmas decoration boxes back in the loft and took away all the boxes which belonged to my son or which were ready to go to the charity shop. I feel so much better for that. I didn't think it would get done before Xmas. Just need to wrap the presents tomorrow now. :xmas_cheesygrin:
