A big welcome back from me too Toni. Thanks to Admin. t4591

Joan, I love mashed potato with cheese. I love ANYTHING with cheese. :D

Aidan, thank you for all the grub. Like The Queen, I've had a little of everything. t115006 t115006 I hope you got a few of Tosca's lugs out. I always used to have long hair as a child and mum had a constant battles with lugs. She was merciless, you should have heard me yell. BTW it wasn't a nurse dithering about draining my knee. It was my consultant, she was using me as a teaching tool for one of her student docs.

OK, you can face plant if you don't mind Spring Onions stuck up your nose. :?

Afternoon to all, another m0150 m0150 scorchio day :? :?

I bet you were singing Welcome Home, one of those songs that you cannot get out of your head..........glad the Admins were on the ball Toni :)

Yes, I shudder to think about the flea "experience" in France. I was a demon with every conceivable product from the vets, more sprays than you could shake a stick at, bleaching the floor boards, repeated frontline drops, (vet said every two weeks in France, in high season).

I did manage total defleaification I am pleased to say :)

This is prime tick season too, with all the hot weather. Lymes disease is a problem that people are not always aware of.

That was brave of Tosca to drive up to Pendle, as you say, the mist and haze is full of magic. A gentle glide back on her gel seat, was very enjoyable she says. Sleek got her to scratch the back of her neck while they were out

It was very nice at the GC, they have huge bi folding doors, that open out onto the outside eating areas, which was very busy. We were happily seated at our fav table inside, where it was quite pleasant.
Even the lady who does the coffee at the week end, has improved 100% and it was just perfect. We had our brunch, B had a full English, I had carrot and corriander soup, with some chunky chips, Dad has hand battered fish fingers, which he loves. And, I didn't have a scone    I know, I know, it's a shock to me too.
I was fine after my soup and chips, I said I would have my scone tomorrow, at the T room in town. It must be the heat, that put me off today.
I was leaking by the time we had finished our second coffee's. Just the day for a nice bowl of hot soup  :lol::lol:
Bought Sainsb, then came home and cranked up the AC, which is now battling its way through the heat indoors. The car said 29 in the shade.

Hope you enjoyed the Wedding Fayre, must tell us all about it. They have them at the hotel near us, Eaves Hall, have a nosy on Google.

I am waving all my crystals about, trying to induce some rain  :? t115006

Hi Joan, we had a lovely time at the GC thank you, even thuogh I didn't have a scone for desert, which is unheard of.

Mash and cheese, oh yes, love it, Mark's do a nice one, all ready done. Perfect with some extra cheese on top. Mind, it is not hard to make really.

I hope you, Sue and the doggies are ok. Are you in the thunderstorm warning zone, it says south and south Wales. I am wishing it to come up to Lancashire.

Hi Barbara, no, it was bearable last night, it went nice and pleasant out and there was a good breeze. Today it is bloomin ot !! Our machine is chugging away, trying to cool us all down.

The old Clitheroe Hospital is all but demolished now, guess what for, more houses   I know we needed the new Hospital, which is super nice and always empty when you go to out patients, just a couple of staff on reception. The Council have sold the land, obviously with planning permission, to recoup some of the costs of the new Hospital.

Public opinion does not count for much now

The fires are still raging I read, near Bolton on Winterhill. The emergency services are concerned that members of the public are going up to look what is going on. How stupid are people !!! The fire crews have enough to contend with, without looking out for sightseers.  :x :x

It is very much like 1976, I remember the Rectory lawns went to brown dust, Mother used to call it the Gobi Dessert  We had standpipes at the ready, but didn't have to use them in the end.

I guess my PIP forms will come this week sometime. B will help me with them, I cannot write for long.

So your Daughter is shadowing another Carer, learning the ropes, for after her op. Yes, a little drop on her shoulder will be there, unfortunately.

PALS are really good and have helped a lot of people get the answers they need, or to take matters further.

Enjoy the Picnic with Niamh and the kiddies from next door. t115006 :)

Hi Kath, so you are a cheese fiend, so are we, it is our staple diet really, the fridge if full of it. Have you tried a little mango chutney (sharwoods) on cheese sandwiches, they are very nice :)

Absolutely, like the Queen, she always tries little bits and takes her time to fuss with things on her plate, as once she puts her knife and fork down, everyone else has to finish.

I will get some lugs out of Tosca, she is asleep at the moment, so I better not startle her. I waited until she had her meds, then had a good go, managed to get a fair few out :) She has gone into the bedroom now, shrieking

Poor you, with your Mother tugging at your hair.

So, it was the Consultant that was dithering, while showing a junior Dr. Huh, I might have guessed. I bet the nurse was itching to get in and drain it for you.

No, I don't mind spring onions up my nose, so I will go straight in with the tart, it looks lovely. Thank you kindly.

I will sort out something sweet to eat.

All the lovelies are ok in the Sanctuary they all have lots of fresh water, mud, pools, ponds, fruit ice lollies, grubs, bugs etc etc. The meerkats are loving it and sunbathing happily. I did have a paddle with the manatee's, their pools are just the right temp, I nearly threw myself in, but the Vets were on their rounds.

Hi to everyone else, I hope all are keeping as cool as possible. Not easy at the moment :? :?

Leaving hugs and sparkles to all t4591 t115006 t115006 will pop back later..........XXX Aidan

Pinkies out today I think :)

Hi all
Another too hot m0150 m0150 m0150 m0150 day again last might was too hot to sleep so did not have a good night that has meant a nice nap this afternoon in the armchair. Sundays television programmes are not good all so boring but then again I don't watch much Telly anyway as we both like different programmes and of course like so many men Mr T has to have the remote control by his
side. at open morning yesterday I sold one card :lol: Better than none I suppose and we had 3 people in. Tomorrow we are hoping to go to Brighton for the day only takes an hour once on the train.

Aidan So its hair tidying up day today think my hair needs cutting too must make an appointment at hairdressers .Hope you enjoyed your visit to the GC and got a seat inside in the cool and Dad enjoyed his bacon butty. Our high street is supposed to have the worst pollution in London. yes it was a help that we both started SW together but even if Mr T hadn't he would have had to eat the same meals as me or buy and cook his own as I said right at the start I would not cook 2 separate dinners each night and he accepted that. Now we both thing of it as the healthy eating plan that it is and a lot of our tastes have changed over the 5 yrs 9 months we have been doing it. now that Trifle is defiantly worthy of a face splat in I go...….. looking forward to the new cooling square

Joan Thank you I am surprised myself how much I lost and how long I have kept it off. hope you and Sue have had a good weekend.

Barbara don't know about 1966 being hot i can't remember but I can remember the summer of 1976 when it was so hot. my daughters were 3years and 18 months old and my friend and I spent most day at the paddling pool because it was so hot her son 2 years old. and my youngest spent most of her time sitting in her buggy in only a vest and Nappy in the shade to keep her cool as she had had 2 infantile convulsions due to having a high temperature within a few months of one another. so I had to give her a junior aspirin a day and keep her as cool as possible during the very hot summer. Tell Mr B the same as I did eat what I cook or buy and cook your own. actually since we started I do most of the cooking as Mr T hasn't got the patience to follow any of he recipes  he will only do the tea when we have our main meal out on Fridays and Wednesday and Sunday tea because i cook our roast at dinner time. otherwise I cook in cook in the evening.

Kath there are so many different inhalers out there isn't there. my other inhaler is Budesonide. have a lovely paddle with the manatees think I will go for one of those too. yum orange Salmon I love Salmon.

Toni good to see you back glad the gremlins have been sorted. I wouldn't' mind some rain if it cooled every thing down a little. not too much just enough to cool us down a bit.

I'm off for a little potter now love and sparkles to you all t4591 t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006

Hi to one and all. A rather warm evening

We are down to 22 in the lounge and hall, just trying to get the cool air into the bedrooms now. Bless the little AC, working its socks off.

Hi Carol I think a lot of people are having some terrible nights, trying to rest and get comfortable in the heatwave. It is not pleasant at all.
Glad you had a nap in your armchair in the afternoon.
So Mr T has to have the remote with him at all times, it's a security thing, that men need remotes, gives them a feeling of being in control. Best thing is to take the batteries out and say nothing :lol:
Men, I don't know, funny lot.

Yay, you sold a card, as you say, one is better than none and you have a few people in as well.

Have fun in Brighton, hope there are no storms. Take care and have a nice time.

Yes, we are all tidy, with our hair cuts, need to keep it short to let the heat out.
The GC was fine, with everyone clambering to get tables outside, we had the pick of the tables inside :)

Oh dear, your high street has the worst pollution in London, wow, that's not good for chest troubles  :?

I am sure you would not be doing two separate dinners, so both being on the same regime, has paid dividends and you still have little treats now and again. Especially ice cold trifle :)

1976 was a super hot time, but I am sure there was a really bad winter that year as well, with lots of snow and thick frosts. I may be wrong, if anyone else remembers.................

Days at the paddling pool were the best place to be with the children. Infant convulsions are more common than people think, when their temp goes too high. I bet it was difficult to keep her cool during that summer.

Hi Toni, I hope you had a good time at the Wedding Fayre, full of wonderful things, sparkles and the like. Hope you have not overdone things and are ouchy. Best send some cooling squares over.

Tosca was funny, Sunday morning, I felt her jump across from her lofty bed, next thing I knew she was nose to nose with me, bless, it is a long long time since she has done that. She loves Daddy 2, even if I did remove lugs in the afternoon, enough to stuff a cushion.

We have to buy wet food still. When it was siesta and bed time, Pepe always had another meal and Tosca had a little of it. She has taken to Purina Gourmet Savoury Chicken, in the teeny tiny tins. Very partial to it. we cannot break the habit of a lifetime, so she enjoys her pre bed snacks, alongside her biscuits, tuna, pilchards and digestive biscuit, yes, she went mad for the biscuit tin in the week and had to be given a biscuit to lick

Not quite sure what Sleek and Mother have planned for today, it is another hot one, 28 ish, as it was on Sunday. No let up. m0150 m0150
America has a super heatwave too, with temperatures into the low 100's over vast areas of the country. Different if your whole house is chilled though, which must take a huge amount of electricity.

Well, the AC has turned its chiller off, so we are as cold as we are going tonight, just the fan running at the moment.

I hope everyone else is ok, Kerrin, Christine, Mig, Toady, DD, Charrisse, Elizabeth and all. t4591

I had best do some pottering, a few things to wash up and throw about

Off into town, pop Dads prescription in, nip into Chemists, wander into the T room, as I need the scone that I didn't have on Sunday. I am still in shock over that.
Everyone take lots of care and keep cool, whenever possible.

Love and Sparkles t4591 t115006 t115006 XX Aidan

Lovely pancakes Aidan thank you. American eat too MUCH!! Waste waste waste!

On the subject of waste we have been asked by the water company to take showers, not wash our cars and not use the sprinkler...I am on flower watering duties at the church today wonder whether that includes the wall???

The Rev Delphine thought maybe not :? She is doing well thanks she has a new Grandbaby!!

Did I hear the fires were deliberately set on the moors?

Sleek said Tosca's 'nails' are perfect for scritch scratching necks  Also that she NEVER has fleas, but the vet has allowed us 3 weekly treatments if necessary due to Sleek's excellent hunting skills

They haven't been far today it's too hot for them both they just want to :animal_busy:

They did fly over the sanctuary again though Tosca wanted to visit the meerkats again.... :?

Must have been a nightmare en France  If you hadn't have already been living there a flea bomb would have been the answer :(

The wedding fayre was GREAT fun!! We have loads of ideas not just you all wait and see! Actually it wasn't hard work we had some cuppas and plenty of cake to sample ;)

Today we are going to two venues for a good look around tomorrow another one....another next week. Dates will be set soon for sure.

Glad you managed the GC. Going out ATM isn't a great is it even if the food coffee is amazing? I would far rather be in with the A/C running!!

Hope you can be quick this morning with the precsripts etc and get home. I have the doors all open here as well as windows it's BLISS!! I am looking at films for windows and blinds which keep the heat out???

Sleek and Tosca and Mrs Darcey are working on a PIP spell.....hope it's better than the achy bone one

Oh Carol I do hope you get to Brighton!! What fun :) I bet you'll have a much more comfy day with the sea air.

3 people at open day? that's good and one card better than nothing ;)

I sometimes sneak the telly remote away from Paul. He can't work it anyway!!!

Shall we do a rain dance for some rain overnight??

I have popped some of your pie into my fridge for lunch won't face plant!!! Thanks Kath!

My Mum was also a demon with the brush! All my girls had long hair too and I was a kind as can be but it isn't easy is it?

Barbara we did sample lots of cake!! Salted caramel, orange and lemon and vanilla to name but a few. There were 4 cake stalls!! Paul was in his element!

Tell your DIL to do her physio diligently Lucy's shoulder - apart from the scar looks perfect :) I am glad they are keeping her job for her.

Hope whirling dervish was good for you!

Hello to Joan it's good to be back :) I missed you all

Too hot for food, so I'm sharing a seaside stroll with a banch. Thought it might be a bit cooler.

One of my kind poetry pals has written music for Pastoral:

| = bar line A = minim (2 crotchets) A = crotchet (1 beat) (A) = quaver (half a crotchet) -- = hold note, using legend as for note lengths above < = before note, note is in octave one below middle

Afternoon to all. Yes, it is m0150 m0150 m0150 and blinking hot.

Pleasure, glad you enjoyed the pancakes Toni. Oh yes, the waste of food in the US is astounding. I was open mouthed at the all day breakfast places, with what people put on their plates, then threw most of it in the trash.  :?

We are on showers, not baths, no hosepipe ban as yes, as long as the bore hole keeps on delivering water. Goodness knows how deep it goes :? :? the water table will be dropping rapidly I would guess.

We have not washed the car, everyone else has, or has them valeted umpteen times a week  B will water the garden this evening, after siesta's. Best time, when the sun has gone off the garden.

I am sure the wall will need a drink, the Good Lord will look fondly on.

Glad the the Rev Delhpine is doing well and is a new G Mum :)

Yes, the moor fires on Winterhill were started deliberately, they have caught the person who started it. I read yesterday that one of the helicopters who are flying water bombs, to help douse the flames, spotted some people starting new fires. How can they DO this? Just makes no sense, I cannot comprehend someones idiocy.

The fire crews / army are working flat out, in blistering heat, to try and stop the fires at one end and idiots are starting it at another.

It is not so far from Barbara's place. They will see the hill from where they live.

Tosca said she gave Sleek a good scratch, to rid her of the Vets chemicals :lol:  3 weekly is good, if she is in super hunting mode.

I think they only had a short glide over the tree tops and the Sanctuary, this morning, they did not venture up to Pendle, the mists had already gone. The both decided it would be too hot and yes, much sleeping and resting is the order of the day. Tosca is very interested in the meerkats.

SLeek has explained to Tosca about the transportation spell, so that she can come and see Sleeks house, villages and all her land. Tosca is not convinced about being teleported  :? so she might take a bit more convincing.

Yes, I remember they had flea bombs in the DIY places, well, in the supermarkets as well. We let one off in the attic, all it did was went pft, a whiff of smoke and it went out.

I am SO pleased the wedding fayre went well, with Paul in cake Heaven and there being so many wonderful ideas and things to see and sample.
Well done Paul, for trying every cake possible. How is your Blood Sugar ??:lol:

Two venues to check out today and another tomorrow and then next week, oh, it is all too exciting....................... t4591 t4591

I agree, going out at the moment is not great fun to be honest. We were out about 2 hours in total today, just enough time for the house to heat up to silly temperatures. We leave the fans on, but not the AC, I am always cautious about machines running when we are out, so we don't do it.

It is not fair to leave Mother for any length of time. It takes hours to get the temp down to a bearable level. We were on 25, but it has gone up to 27 again, with 5pm being about the hottest part of the day really.

We have a film on some of the windows, inside, the front door and B's bedroom. We got it off Ebay. It helps a bit, not a lot to be honest. Blackout heat reflective blinds are the best, or outdoor blinds, that you can wind out and in.

Ah, a PIP spell would be super helpful. I think they are still practicing on the anti ouch spell.

A rain dance, yes, let's, it is worth a try...................we will need some new outfits...............for the Traditional Native Indian Rain Dance.

how-to-do-a-native-american-rain-dance-not-that-we-need-one-2.jpg

Hi Joan, hope you are both ok and the doggies too. I used to love making Mac Cheese, always with a rich mustard and cheese sauce, mmmmmmmmmm
I did try the tinned one once  not nice really.

I did have a scone today, at the T room, it was lovely, they whipped some fresh cream for me too :)

Hi Barbara - did you read about the idiots starting other fires on Winterhill, I am just gob smacked.

Yes, it is so like 1976, they say another month of the same weather. At that rate we will all be on hosepipe bans. Our river is just a stream now, with grass growing in between the rocks on the river bed  So many trees are shedding their leaves.

You had a perm when you were 12. I had one about 25 years ago, just on top, I looked a right bobby dazzler I can tell you and no, I won't be finding any pictures  :lol::lol:

It was SO cute when Tosca came to rub noses, she is much more chirrupy now, always keeping an eye on what we are doing, not wanting us to be far from her sight. Bless. She misses Cookie and Pepe, just as we do :cry:

I am glad Niamh had a good time with the neighbours children, in and out of both houses and having a nice picnic. I bet you needed a rest afterwards.

Ash on your car, not surprised, the fires will be causing a lot of pollution for miles around. I am worried about Pendle, as it only takes one idiot, to light a match, as we know from the fires near Bolton.

The lovelies will enjoy their fruit ice blocks, apart from the meerkats, who prefer meal worms.

Hair is looking good, we are all smart again.

That is a lovely thought Kath, a seaside stroll, well, ride on buggies, to get the sea air and breezes. Just right.

Loving the music too, Pastoral, the same one that Toni and the choir sang?

Finally managed to get a date and time to see my new Cardiologist. The one that had been mentioned, only sees patients at the Clinic, in the evening. So, I asked the Med Sec who we know well, for her recommendation. She works for another Consultant who she says is a mirror of my last Consultant, he will do for me then, Appointment booked for the 12th at 10.15 :)

Now all I need is to see my GP at some point next week. Then fill in the PIP forms, then worry...................

I will leave cooling hugs and sparkles to all. Everyone take lots of care t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006

Will catch up again later. XXX Aidan

Oh, I found some of these, if anyone fancies one.

Had my 4th chocolate brownie sundae thanks Aidan :D

Phew!!

Tosca is more affectionate? I bet she is concerned you might also 'disappear'??? Also it does get too hot for them without the aircon. We miss hearing about Pepe too and Cookie  ((())) t4591 t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 t115006

Blinds it is then thanks for the tip. Won't waste our money on film if it doesn't work.

We have had a fab day!! Found a fabulous venue (another very strong contender to see tomorrow)
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=photos+of+weston+hall+stafford&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=I2zho4R50SmWnM%3A%2CiDq4VIk4C1CzBM%2C_&usg=__w5rdMxWeqRfOkCDw7ZXsThgBh4I=&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi19tTkoYHcAhUG1RQKHUXUBWcQ9QEILzAC&biw=1080&bih=490#imgrc=I2zho4R50SmWnM:

Tomorrow WEDDING DRESSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahay!! then the other gorgeous venue. Might not be in real life.

I have only washed my windscreen and are on showers (cooler anyway and easier). Delphine seems to think we'll be ok with the hose....I am unsure......a born conformist me!!

People who set fires EVER but especially in this weather should be treated very harshly by the law. :x

Tosca is very very interested in Meerkats - never seen anything like them!! so Sleek said  She was thinking about showing him the Sloths next.

Transportation spells are a bit scary. I told Sleek this so she's going to hold paws with Tosca and take her up to Mrs Darcey soon

I love the rain dancing men I hope it works :)

Kath I am able to 'hear' the prospective tune for pastoral. I think it 'sounds' really rather good!!

Clever friend!

Barbara it was HOT!! Today has been even hotter too  m0150

Pom and Lucy have offered to help with the watering cans. That should make it easier.

It would be good if DIL has her shoulder done at Wrightington. Shoulders are very delicate. the ball is flatter and the socket shallower.

If that makes any sense??

I am glad Niamh has made friends at your house with next door's kids :) Sweet :)

ice-lollies and ice creams totally the way to go :)

Love to everyone

Hi to all, finally cooled the lounge etc, to 21 degrees, so that is fine, windows now shut.
It has taken some doing, the electric bill will be sky high, never mind.

Only 4 chocolate brownie sundaes Toni :lol:

Tosca certainly wants us in line of sight at all times, if we nip to the back door, she has a shriek  bless her. I miss writing about Pepe and Cookie too. Their adventures continue over t115006 bridge, beyond our wildest dreams. t4591

No, don't bother with film on the windows, it is quite thick, but blinds are a good deal better.
I don't know if these are worth a look at, they seem to know what they are talking about

https://www.coolglass.co.uk/window-film/summer-heat-gain-reduction/

OM Goodness, Weston Hall is just wonderful, I have a very positive feeling about it, as soon as I saw it. Gorgeous, can we all live there please :)

Another to see today, lovely, then Wedding Dresses, oh we need to be there, as part of the entourage :) with David and his Bridal Consultants, Sleek and Tosca would also be there, naturally. t4591 t4591

We are the same with the car, just the window screen. B does the pots and garden once every two days, in the evening. Any that seem to be a little wilted, are watered in between times.

If the Rector says the hose is ok, then, who are we to argue with the Reverend. I am sure the Good Lord would be more than grateful for tending the Churches needs.

I am with you on the arsonists who think it is clever to set light to moorland. Lock them up and forget about them, for a long long time. Mother nature will restore the moorland to its former state, but the harm to the land, the wildlife, the back breaking efforts of the emergency services to contain the fires.

Tosca is fascinated by the meerkats, she was chirruping about them earlier, strange creatures that sit on their back legs and keep a very close watch on the goings on :?
Sloths, now, that should be interesting, to see her reaction.

I was saying to Tosca that the transportation spells are over in a twitch of a whisker, no matter how far the journey. Sleek will make sure Mother is fine, going to see Mrs Darcey.

Is the house all going through ok still, for Sis ? I do hope so.

I have set the rain dancing men off, they are going round in circles muttering all sorts of strange things

I see that Carol is having a long long journey getting home, from their trip to Brighton, I spotted her post on FB and they were going to be in quite late. I hope they are ok and not too tired out. Some t115006 t4591 for any ouchies. I think they left at 5pm and they are still not home yet  eeek. Just seen that they have arrived home after 6 and 3/4 hours !! Normal travelling time, one hour

I hope everyone is keeping as cool as can be, not easy by any means.

We are having a home day today, keeping chilled from the get go. Need to do some dedustification and immaculising. Fans just throw dust far and wide, constantly. Small price to pay though.

I had better do a little pottering. Hugs and love and sparkles to all.

So most of you can "hear" the tune for Pastoral. Perhaps the cafe choir (Aidan, Barbara and Toni et al) would come and sing it to me. I can't read music at all. :o

Oh Barbara, yes please do buy more sun screen and make it rain. Pretty please. We had our Magnums on the benches this morning. I went out with my arms bare and no sun screen, so I could soak up Vitamin D.

Joan, in spite of my consultant's reluctance to drain my knee, it is doing very well thank you. I hear the NHS is going to stop giving steroid injections (along with other procedures). :?

How cute, Tosca is fascinated by the Meercats. Aren't we all.

I'm glad you enjoyed the stroll by the sea yesterday. I've been looking at chilled soups. I chose Gazpacho, Chilled vegetable soup. :D

Afternoon to all, another m0150 m0150 m0150 day here and over the entire country I think.

Hi Joan, Hope you and Sue and the doggies are ok, I bet they get hot under the collar in this weather. Tosca is very :animal_busy: at the moment, enjoying the A C, as are we. :?

B nipped round the corner to fetch Dad round, for a cup of coffee, after that he said he was ok to walk back, about 50 yards or so. Still forgetful, but we keep him reminded of what we are doing, when, why and where.

Hi Barbara By the time we got to bed, which is usually about 2.30 am  it had cooled down quite a bit, plus I am knocked out anyway   it's the only way to get me to rest.

Gad you were a bit cooler, except for the traffic, which is supposed to go slowly
Hurry and buy lots of sunscreen and I will buy a vest top, to show off my lumps and bumps, that way it will surely rain if I am going to parade round in a muscle top :lol::lol:

The rain dancers are taking it in shifts, to keep up the chanting and mumbling. One day it will rain............... :?

I think the emergency services and the army, were managing to get on top of the moor fires a bit, that's unless another stupid person decides that it will be fun to set another area alight.

That glass coating is really good, it keeps out up to 80% of the heat, that is wonderful, we want it, asap, not sure quite how much it costs though

Yes, we have had an at home day, Dad came for a coffee, B is taking pics of more of his jewellery to put online. Watching Wimbledon in the background, done some fussing, drying is out on the decking at the back. In the shade there, but still dries in no time.

I tumble it on cold, once it is dry, to stop everything feeling like cardboard

I see Mr B will be happily pegging out the washing :) Whirlygigs I used to call those dryers. I could not peg things out now, my arms would go into spasm, my, how times can change a person.

As long as he is happy in his duties :) You have trained him well.

We buy the Sainsb equivalent of magnums, they are just as nice and half the price - did that just rhyme?

Hi Kath, yes, we can have a Cafe choir, the cafe choral society :)

I would have to use my auto tune microphone, but I am sure we could all sing it to you. Toni and Barbara will get all the high notes. I could hit any note, just depends :lol::lol:

I see you stocked up on Vit D while you ate your magnums on your benches.
Glad your knee is doing ok. I had read about the cost saving plan, all manner of things, including Arthroscopies, tonsilectomy, etc etc.

I had better be asking my GP for another depo medrone jab into my knee, while I have the chance.

Meerkats are amazing. Always busy, never stop keeping a check on what is going on. Meerkat Manor was a great programme.

I am heading in for the Gazpacho soup, thank you very much, it is nice and chilled, perfect with some crusty buttered corn bread.

Toni will be admiring lots of wedding dresses, hope you have had an amazing time :) Sleek will tell Tosca all about them, Tosca was not for going out this morning, a bit too sleepy and shrieking quite a lot. Quiet now though, after some Pilchards.

Carol, I know you got home really late last night, after a super long journey time of over 6 hours (normally one hour). Hope you have managed to rest a bit today, you will need it. t115006 t115006

Well, it is time for pills, so I will potter a little. Leaving hugs and sparkles to one and all. Catch you later t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 XX Aidan

What a good idea putting the dryer on cold..now mine doesn't do cold maybe because its a gas dryer..there towels were like cardboard  never mind they will still dry us..

Evening everyone!!

I have had a great day today saw another venue and a bridal store lips are sealed for now as far as the bridal part is concerned, but our fav venue is STILL the same Weston Hall:) Only one more to view (next Tuesday).

Sleek is FULL of it all as is Tosca; talking dresses and veils etc and flowers (cat grass :? ) They are both upset that Pepe won't be there in his kilt though :( t4591 t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 t115006 I sneaked Pepe's old crystal ball into the changing room so they saw everything!

Tosca hasn't flown today its been too hot for her bless her. She says her Daddies can make it cooler at home. Sleek says mummy can too with 'the noisy machine'.

Down to 21 in the bedroom so hoping for a good night. m0150 m0150 m0150

Dad is doing well he has had atraumatic year hasn't he and his memory isn't what it was. With you two reminding he will be fine ((()))

I wonder whether Carol is recovered after their epic trip out yesterday :?

My dryer only does hot and a bit cooler I will get a cold one next go.

I hope the rain dancer succeed soon. We have had a fire near Alton Towers and they are monitoring Cannock Chase closely ATM.

4 knickerbocker glories has helped cool me down :)

The NHS are stopping steroid jabs?? NO!!! That's terrible :(

Barbara, Aidan (choir-boy) and I will sing Pastoral for you Kath no problem.

Hello to Joan - I LOVED the wedding dress hopping. Tia looked stunning in them all being so slim :)

Must get me off to bed I was up after 5 hours 33 mins sleep again

Hi to all - Dare I say a teeny bit cooler this evening :? :? Best not shout it too loud though.

Hope everyone who watched the football, enjoyed the nail biting match. We didn't watch, but I got updates on my phone - I said I bet it goes to penalties and it did. My BIL is up in arms about the other team cheating.........calm, calm. We won, move on now
Hi Barbara, I am sure you were on the edge of your seat, I think most of the neighbours were around here too.

Right, you have the sunscreen, I will get a mankini   that would put an end to the summer in one fell swoop :lol::lol:

Wimbledon is as good as always, Roger breezed through the first round, as he is defending champion from last year. I hope he can do it one more time and win again.

A few seeded players are already out, there are new and up and coming players, so the top players like Rafa, Novak and Roger, will be gradually moving towards retiring from the game I think. They don't need the money and can concentrate on their charities and their tennis foundations, to help young players.

A gas dryer, we have them in the launderette on the park, didn't know you could get domestic ones. It is called a "freshen up" cycle, just tumbles them on cold, for 10 minutes, to take the cardboard out of them and any fluff etc.

I am sure Carol and Mr T will have needed a good rest, after their epic journey back from Brighton  I would have been fit to be tied.

Hi Toni, lovely to hear that you have had a great day, viewing another venue and then the Bridal shop, bet there are so many sparkles and wonderfulness to look at t115006 t115006

I still have the best feeling about Weston Hall, but, nice to compare other places, if only to cement your choice :)

Sleek was on the phone to Tosca, lots of shrieking, but Tosca had put a sleeping spell on me at siesta time and it worked well. I did hear a little commotion, talking of glitz and glamour puss and all things gorgeous. Everything was seen on Pepe's crystal ball, well, Tosca had so many veils on, she had a little difficulty :lol:

Pepe will be there, watching and making sure that everything is just perfect t115006 t115006  He would have looked a little star in his kilt. t4591

With Tosca being quite deaf she doesn't mind the noisy cold machine, Sleek says Mummy's ice machine is quite noisy too, but it makes for a better level of comfort. :) :animal_busy: It was too hot again for Tosca to be flying, even on her gel seat.

We were down to 21 in the lounge, now it has gone off and window shut, it is slowly creeping up again, 22, 23............

We certainly keep Dad up to speed and carry him along so to speak, making sure that he has everything he needs, see him every day, take him out, which he likes, sort all his appointments at Drs / Hospital etc.

It has been a traumatic few years really, well, 9 years, for us two. :? But, we have to carry on, it is in our psyche, to keep moving forward.

Goodness, Cannock Chase, that will be tinder dry, just as all the moorlands are around here. We do need rain, very much so.

Glad the knickerbockers helped you cool down :lol:

So I believe, quite a few procedures are being stopped

It is proposed four treatments will be offered only when a patient makes an individual request.

These include surgery for snoring, where there is said to be only limited clinical evidence of effectiveness and which poses significant risks to patients.

The others are: dilatation and curettage for heavy menstrual bleeding, knee arthroscopies for osteoarthritis and injections for non-specific back pain.

A further 13 procedures will only to be offered when specific criteria are met:

Breast reduction
Removal of benign skin lesions
Grommets for Glue Ear
Tonsillectomy for sore throats
Haemorrhoid surgery
Hysterectomy for heavy menstrual bleeding
Chalazia (lesions on eyelids) removal
Removal of bone spurs for shoulder pain
Carpal tunnel syndrome release
Dupuytren's contracture release for tightening of fingers
Ganglion excision - removal of noncancerous lumps on the wrist or hand
Trigger finger release
Varicose vein surgery

It sounds like if you request a procedure and there is clinical evidence to support that procedure, then you would still get the treatment. All a bit strange :?

5 and a half hours sleep, that is not much at all, says me, who would be up all night and day   If B didn't push me to go and REST !!

Off to the GC this morning, coffee, scone etc, then maybe get some Geraniums. We have had lots of butterflies in the garden today (Tues). they love the Salvia, Lavender, Scabiosa - the cedum and butterfly bushes are not quite ready to flower yet. Lots of bees too, which is lovely to see. No hedgehogs though, I think their food chain has been disrupted with the super dry weather, slugs and worms and things have all gone into hiding.

Well. I had best do a little pottering, put the laundry away, throw a few pots round in the sink

Love to everyone, Christine, Kerrin, Mig, DD, Toady, Carol, Elizabeth and all.
Take lots of care. Love and sparkles t4591 t115006 XXX Aidan

Thanks for the pancakes Aidan they were delectable! Most light and fluffy!

I was up at 5 am again and the weather is so lovely and cool at that time :D Yesterday was hotter for us here though than the day before...…

They have a fire watch spot on the chase where the rangers look out for signs of trouble. No cig buts, BBQs or glass to minimise sources of ignition in these dry times. The rain dancers have failed thus far :(

Tosca came out this morning, so Sleek informs me, and they were so cool with the cooler air rippling through their fur :)

Sleek is definitely scared of the A/C bless her. I think it's worth it as does she once the noise is switched off.

I have been 'line drying too like Barbara. I have a pull out line which is shoulder height for me then a quick bob in the tumbler to soften things like towels. Too hot ATM . I want a gas one!

The GC will be just fine in the morning and really we do need to get out else we will go loopy and stir crazy.

Pepe would have been a proper Bobby Dazzler in his kilt t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 but he will, no doubt be wearing one at rainbow bridge along with his capes and other outfits! ((()))

You are ight, whatever life throws at us we must carry on no choice do we? :)

I was wondering why one of my baskets was wilting despite the solar irrigation (set up to one of the water butts) when Paul had put the basket back up he'd trapped the pipe!! Only use that butt for this purpose and had thought maybe it had dried up

Silver arranged for some rain over the entire 3,000 acre sanctuary overnight. This will continue until we get some real rain.

I hope everyone is well today

Weston Hall is still our fav too by a long mark!

Hi Joan I am loving this wedding planning it's great!! but looking forward to a more restful day today.

Morning all
I did post on here last night it was quite a long one but it seems to have dissapeared oh well never mind the gremlins are in again so it seems. Thank you all for your comments on our long 6 and 3/4 hour train journey home curtersy of signal problems at Wivelsfield and Haywards Heath we came home via Eastbourne in the end but still got a bit caught up in the signal problem. Originally got to Brighton station at 5pm to return home train journey takes about 1hr so would have expected to be back home in around 1and 1/2 hrs. normally but because of all the problems we actually arrived home at 11.45 pm however we both kept a cool head and didnt end up argueing how i do not know but we did. had a cuppa tea and just fell into bed. last night i was so tired i fell asleep in the armchair for about 2 hrs then it was time for bed so went to bed and slept for another 6 hrs . Am now suitably refreshed. i will say though the day out excluding the journey home was very much enjoyed by us both.
Today is our 48th Wedding Anniversary. i have to smile when i think of something my mum said when we had been married about 3 years she said of our marriage it will never last. however here we are at 48 years and still together. We are out for a celebratary meal tonght at a little restaurant juast a short walk away from where we live.

I must now go and get myself ready to go out and do a few things before going to my knitting group. will try and post again later.

Emily and Alex have the keys to their new home, so it's all systems go up in Bolsover/Shuttlewood -at last.

Carol, 48 years, ecky thump.has Mr T passed his MOT? Well done. As it's our second marriage (both) we've only been married since 1982. If I was still with my ex (perish the thoughy) we'd have been married 48 years.

I'm trying not to think of Barbara and Aidan dresses in a Bikini and Mankini.

Any way, on to food. I'm enjoying the Mini Pancakes with Curd Puree and Raspberries thank you Aidan. So next we have cold Tanuki Udon - whatever that is!
