Hi all,
Thanks for being in my pockets, really needed the support.
Am home the Rheumy says steroids can be reduced slowly to 20mg which is great. The ribs/lung/pneumonitis is still an issue though, so no methotrexate or humira for atleast 6 weeks and back for another check up next Wednesday, I have to say I'm really being looked after.
The best news is the scafoid fracture in my wrist has healed and the sparkly cast is no more
Thanks again for being there, I'm so relieved they didn't keep me in again I can't tell you.
Love and hugs to all xxxx'grá agus solas'

The phrase 'turning a corner' springs to mind, Poppyg1rl. One step at a time. You're doing great. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hello Poppy!
I think Sticky has hit the nail on the head there.
So pleased you are home and that the wrist has finally healed! Glad that you can reduce the pred too - and that you are being well looked after.
Thinking of you.

Oh Poppy, no mtx and humira for 6 weeks. I have just had a gap without them and My knees were getting so bad and my GP noticed this and said I can take them both again. I get very tired without them and that can be as bad as the pain.
I hope it doesn't get too bad for you. But you have to fight the infection first and foremost and each step is a step nearer to getting better. I have had recurring problems with a chest infection and it has been so hard to shift. Hope its not the Heathrow air!
It is good news about your wrist. That is one less problem for you.
Hugs ((( )))

No meth and no humira is no bad thing: you need to get this sorted and get truly better so the last thing you need is immuno-suppressants, yes? I realise that the PA may well kick off (and possibly in some style) but six weeks isn't for ever, you can re-start the meds and hopefully they will help matters. The meth won't completely disappear out of your system in that short a space of time, I would have thought, so it may be enough to keep any PA activitity at bay: it's always so uncertain, it's one of the boggest problems with this blasted malarkey.
I am glad to hear that the pred is to be reduced, that was a high, high dose so no wonder your head was hurting and sleep was difficult. How phased is the reduction to be? Hopefully it won't be too slow as you haven't had a long time on that level and you can get down to something more tolerable in the near future.
I hope you are feeling generally better in yourself, Poppy, and are able to rest as much as you need. Is your breathing any easier now? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi DD,
Breathing bit better, still painful upon waking though. The pred reduction has left me with a bad, bad headache and upset tum. Going from 50 to 20 overnight prob wasnt the best idea, not sure what's hurting more the headache or the ribs!!.
Going to take it easy today, hope everyone is feeling as well as can be

That was a sudden and big drop. Was that what you were told to do? I guess so, but yes, take things easy please! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Oh Poppy, as DD says, that was a big drop all in one go.
Thinking of you and really hoping that the headache and upset tum imrpove soon.

Hi Poppy
Glad you are home and good news that the wrist is ok.
I hope coning off the mtx and humira speeds up the process of you getting well again.
Take care and get plenty of rest.

Hi Poppy
Glad things are a bit better for you and that you are reducing the pred.
6 weeks will soon pass - and it will give your system a chance to 'recover'.
Keep in touch.

Hi Poppy,
I do hope Wednesday will continue to see you on the road to recovery. Great news that the plaster has finally gone.

Hi there, Poppyg1rl,
How's it going? Hope the steroid drop worked OK. Still thinking of you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Steven Wright0 -
Hi Sticky & DD,
Feel so bl***y fed up today :evil got the steroids down to 20 and go down to 15 tomorrow which is fine, the headaches aren't too bad now and the ribs/breathing is only bad first thing and once I see the boys off to school I go an lie down which really helps.
BUT my left knee is huge this morning....
My Rheumy nurse phoned last Friday to pass on the steroid reduction plan from Rheumy and she told me to try and 'stick it out' the reduction that is.
Thing is, the knee wasn't hurting then.
Not going to increase the pred, its taken me days of headaches to get this far. But if it's not one thing it's another
Sorry for moaning, I know there are lots of people worse off than me
Take care all hugs ((((((())))))'grá agus solas'

Your first drop was a huge one, no wonder it caused trouble. Try to hang on in there but perhaps discuss a more phased reduction with the nurse. As you know I am devoting a whole year to getting off the only meds that help (as far as I can tell!) and it has to be that slow as I have been on them for five years. It ain't fun, it is frustrating, I am sure the knee will blow up again as the meth and humira are not present in such quantities but you can cope with that. You have before, you can again, and it won't be long before you are back on the meds. Hang on in there, Poppy, we will support you every inch of the way. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi poppy
sorry you are fed up today......I have no advice....Just popping in to say I am still thinking of you.
and you are doing well at your steroid reduction, it can't be easy.
love juliepf x0 -
Poppyg1rl, I know it’s normal nowadays to put people on hefty doses of steroids just for very short periods and then whip them off quickly. However, when they tried doing this to me several years ago I asked if I could go off them slowly because hospitals do seem capable of dealing with only one disease per visit and I doubt they’d taken into account how my RA might take to that idea. My guess is your arthritis is now sulking because it’s had its lollypop removed. I’m afraid my only advice is hang on in there. It’s a bummer but we’re all with you and, if you need a few extra four letter words, I'm your woman. You've only to ask.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Steven Wright0 -
I love the idea of your arthritis sulking 'cos its lollypop has gone! Oh sticky, you sure have a way with words. I too know some excellent swear words in Finnish and Albanian, I will be happy to provide you with them if needed. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
-
Finnish & Albanian? Sound like excellent sources, DD.
I can promise you that every written word of Dutch looks menacing whatever the meaning.
Are you able to inform us, on an open forum, how you acquired such knowledge? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Steven Wright0 -
Oh Poppy, sorry so fed up today - no wonder, you have been having such a rough time of it. Glad the headache is a bit better tho' and the ribs.
Good luck with the next steroid drop.
Thinking of you Poppy,
Lots love and ((()))s
