Linda I felt better within hours of my of my first injection. The pain in my shoulder and wrist improved noticeably, and I could raise my arm straight up, something I had been unable to do for a few years.

Then the knee swelling went down and I had no pain.

So yes it could be working. Obviously don't want to raise your hopes but it did happen with me.

Well done on having the first injection, that's another hurdle cleared and I hope it does what it says on the tin (oh OK, box!) As for the thigh injection it's better not to do it sitting or standing as this tenses the thigh muscles and makes things un-necessarily uncomfortable: sit on your bed with your legs out in front (supported by a pillow under the knees if necessary) then merrily inject away. The muscles will be softer, more relaxed and it should all be fine. I prefer the stomach as there are less nerve endings there but then I'm a wimp. I had to use the thigh when I was on enbrel as mine was two injections per week and I hated doing them that way: I wish I'd known about the legs out thing then! Good luck, I sincerely hope this is the one for you legs, I really do. DD

    Hi Linda

Appologies for not dropping in for a good few days
Sounds good news about the embrel  and I have positive thoughts for you that it is no coincidence, but is truly suited to you.

    Hi boy and girls,

Things are definitely getting better. I have to use a dress stick to put clothes over my head as my shoulders are wrecked and normally I struggle and sweat and usually get stuck halfway before the last thrust when my head comes through the neck of my sweater rather like a tortoise emerging from it's shell

This morning the sweater went on in one smooth movement, I unhooked my dress stick and stood stunned wondering what had happened and suddenly realised it was because my shoulders were freer than normal.

I know they're only small things but what a difference. I can't quite believe this is really happening.

I've checked my stomach and there's not even a mark but Mr Legs will still inject my thigh next week so I can see if it hurts and if it does whether I think I can do it myself. (If it does hurt it'll only do so for 10 seconds whilst the dose goes in) and then that'll be it for another week.

Thanks for the tips Dreamdaisy, I've made a mental note.

Julie, don't worry about not always replying, I know how hard it is to keep up with everyone.

    Luv,
    Love, Legs x

Hi Linda. I'm another who's been awol, visiting a son. I'm delighted to get back to find things seem to be working.

Re the dressing stick - do you, too, find you sometimes get over eager and sling the lot over your head and onto the bed behind you?

Hi Sticky, nice to see you back, I thought you'd gone for a couple of overs :lol::lol:

I can't use my hands to push my clothes over my head so I actually prop the dress stick on the bed and wriggle and push my way through, rather like coming through the birth canal ........again!!!:lol:

Sometimes the stick get stuck in my clothing and I walk round like a blind, demented dalek or it falls out onto the floor and then I'm muffled and blind (again) and just hope some comes to my aid before I suffocate.

Hi Linda oh you do make me laugh

I can fully imagine the struggle you have with clothes. I have help dressing on a morning from Rich but if I need to go out well......the coat and scarf take all the energy and I have to sit 5 mins to cool off and catch my breath, I am normally ready for another cuppa too, but have to forfiet that otherwise I will need the loo

I do spend alot of time laughing at myself after all the swearing, its all good fun

Have a good day today and I hope the inj in the hip is easier for you.

    Take care

This is sounding good legs, sometimes these things do get to work very quickly - I remember the infliximab did so for me, I clattered in on two poles and walked out, about five hours later, unaided. That was a grand day and has been immortalised by a friend in a cartoon of me, disguised as a mouse (mab meaning mabine, mouse-based) chucking my sticks away and the sun rising in a new dawn. It's hung at the top of my stairs so I see it every morning - it's a lovely reminder that good things happen. Keep improving, please, it's time you had a burst of summat good just for you. DD

    hi Legs,

really pleased to see that and good news as well! i inject the legs, belly whatever and its never worse in one than the other. legs i do standing or sitting depending on how much dexterity i got that day  its no worse either way so don't worry it might be fine for you as well. the legs are more likely to bleed a bit though for a second or two in my case.

this getting dressed stuff.... it not always easy is it

Iris asked me to pass on her best as well and say how pleased she is that its showing good improvements already. we both hope that will take away so much of the pain and swelling.

bout the other bit.... Legs better they look and its actually quite interesting though i was convinced they would find worms  you hang in there and sorry again i am late to this. hugs and tea. Cris xx

Hi Rita, thanks and it's good to see you, how are you now?

Hi Julie, it's compulsory that after swearing and sweating there has to be laughter otherwise we'd all die of the frustration

Hi Dreamdaisy what a good idea to have a visual aid to remind you of the good times, we should all have one to keep our positive side uppermost. Mine would be of the joy on Mr Leg's face when I hobbled to see him after my operation and that would remind me how much it means to others for me to make that extra effort.

Ah Cris you do make me laugh :lol: no worms eh ....but did they find those brain cells you said you were missing a while back? Mr Legs has to do the thigh for me first so I know what the pain'll be like as I don't want to insert the needle myself and then jump cos it hurts and accidentally pull it out. ............plus he looks rather fetching in his nurse's uniform  As for the getting dressed I have to consider myself lucky that help is usually on hand for when I do get stuck

And Iris, please thank her and give her my love and best wishes. The forum's not the same without her.

Thanks Elizabeth, Lyn said she thought you said yours had worked quickly for you and she was right! Hope your chest's easier.

Wonky (hope you're looking in and if not please pigeon Cris please pass this on) ............thank you too and I must say I'm missing seeing you around, I'm wishing you well so that you can join in again very soon.

Lyn, thank you, lovely to see you ...........I'm all flushed with pleasure

    Ooooober love to you all,

Iris has a bad neck and can't use the pc just now.... Legs its so hard to type with a neck and shoulder playing up but mine is an old tower and got a slide out to the arm chair..... i couldn't use a laptop for sure!

Wonky can verify..... i can't dress my self too well at times.... she had to sort my buttons out for me :lol: i will have to change my uniform

really am so pleased that Mr L is doing the jabs so well and Legs i am honestly over the moon its working for you so well already and so hope you get even better results as time goes on. hugs and love Cris xxx

I have one of those things that looks like a long shoe horn (because it is!) with a little hand at the other end. I gather my sweaters up at the back & perch them on the 'hand' then sling them over my head. Well, that's the theory. Sometimes I sling them over my head, sometimes I sling the lot over my head, sometimes it slides off halfway there and sometimes I just aim wrong and end up with my head in a sleeve and the stick on the floor out of reach (so I can't get my head out of the sleeve). I expect we shall meet up sometime when I'm like this and you're doing you're dalek impression. How will we recognise each other, I wonder?

    Hi Linda,
What great news that you are already showing signs of improvement so quickly. I am glad Mr Legs is there to administer the injections if needed.

So well done to both of you and wishing you more improvements very soon.

Hi Cris, I, too, can't use a laptop as I need to sit to a desk with my swivel chair. Knew-knee is mar-vel-lous and I love him! When they did my knees at the same time 11 years ago I had two surgeons one on each leg. Well I now think whoever put my right knee in didn't put it in correctly as I've always had pain in it  I never said anything because I thought it was because my ankle didn't move  Now it's been redone I have no pain in it at all plus the surgeon was the best knee man in this area ...........so what does that tell me? Give Iris with Bubba and Alison my love when you're next freelancing and take care of your neck afterall you only have the one!!!

Sticky, sigh, I'm in love, I've found my soulmatet4723.gif I shall hold a picture of you in my mind with your head stuck in your sleeve, especially when I need a laugh :lol:

Dreamdaisy you shall be that fly h0534.gif

Hi 'I' Thanks. I shall send for you if Mr Legs and I have a row and I refuse to ask him to stab me  D'you reckon you'll get into his uniform?:lol:

Hi Linda, just wanted to mention that the good effects of the injection will start to wear off before the next one is due. In a way that shows that it is the injection working if you know what I mean.
As time went on the gap between each injection where my pain intensified lessened.
what brilliant news about your knee.
