I am always good for a laugh, Legs. pretty useless for anything else, especially when my head's up/down my sleeve but the laugh's will always come.
Glad things are going well for you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Shoulders are a bit sore today so I'm ready for my next injection tomorrow (you were right twin Elizabeth ). The nurse has just phoned and she'll be here at 9:30, I have to take the Enbrel out of the fridge at 9:15 a.m.

Hi 'I' Thanks. I shall send for you if Mr Legs and I have a row and I refuse to ask him to stab me  D'you reckon you'll get into his uniform?
Hi Linda,
Not too sure if Mr LL’s nurses uniform will fit but always willing to help out in an emergency.
Now if you are sure you want a vertically challenged, needle phobic in an overlong apron to do the injection I’m your gal. Let’s practice this, eyes closed....check, teddy not in the firing line...check, patient in the right place.....perfect, what could possibly go wrong.0 -
Hello legs, are you all done and dusted? If so I hope it all went well and without too much of a sting etc. I honestly cannot remember if enbrel stung me  but I do remember the twice-weekly faff with needles, syringes, little bottles and vials and the mixing and the shaking and the settling: I hope yours is a pre-loaded thingy, it does make life easier. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Linda
What brilliant news...you really are an inspiration to many on this forum...I have everything crossed for you..that long may you continue to feel better...if that makes sense...sorry just took mi meds... ..you take care xxLove

OUCH! Well that was 10 seconds of sting  .............. the thigh is not now my favourite place for the stab, but well worth it for a week like the last one! Back to the stomach next Monday. (It is the pre-filled pen, I use.)
Thanks Dreamdaisy and Barbara for your comments.
Had a grim day getting reacquainted with the toilet once again after having to stop my anti-diarrhoea meds yesterday ready for my colonoscopy on Wednesday morning. Dreading tomorrow afternoon when I have to take the litre of laxative drink at 3:00 and again at 6:00
I have some good news which I shall surprise you all with on the Chit Chat Forum, please look and please be surprised for me!Love, Legs x

Just make yourself comfy on the loo, Legs. I've done the colonoscopy litres and, to be frank, it's hardly worth getting off. Well done on the stabbing front. if I need a hired assassin I'll be sure to PM you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Yep, Linda, that part of the deal is dreadful, I cannot fib, (use vaseline ) but at least you know that you are on the way to finding out what is actually going on. I hope your gastro is as lovely as the one I had. He most definitely sorted me out and I cannot thank him enough.

hi Legs,
nobody could call it a pleasant experience, it always makes me pass out actually with the pain but its over fairly quickly..... you are unlucky if it keeps you up all night.
the good thing is your being done early so you can get back to normal eating and drinking at a sensible time of day!
they do sedate you and well its honestly quite fascinating.... i don;t sedate easy and was watching the screen till they hit the hurt bit cus that was bad and they knocked me out more for that bit... hey maybe there were worms that i didn't get to see
will be i your pocket all the way Legs and they will be able to tell so much from it. hugs and love and will go and see your good news Cris xxx0 -
its all go in the legs household......great news. x You will make a wonderful Nanna Legs and congrats to Mr. Legs too. xx
Good luck for Wednesday. Hope they can find out what the problem is and sort it out quick.
Finally, I will never inject in my thigh I just alternate either side of the stomach and have no problems. You do have to try and avoid the stretch marks, of which I have plenty so I'm compromised on space somewhat. You can still have a 'great week' without the sting then.
Best wishes

Mr Legs blamed the follow-up nurse because when he pinched my skin together she told him there was no need and made him let go. Also last week a different nurse told us to use the side of the thigh so I sat with an ice pack on that area to numb it and this nurse said to only inject into the top of the thigh so I'd chilled the wrong bit  We'll try the other thigh next week doing it our way! (PS Elizabeth I'm lucky enough not to have stretch marks on my stomach only on my boobs and I'm not intending to inject a breast  )
Today, because of the Enbrel) I've been able to leave off my pain killers  I have never ever felt painfree enough to do this in 25 years!
I was quite low this morning because I'm dreading taking this stuff at 3:00 this afternoon but I hear what you all say and it must be done. I just want to be the other side of it  I'll report back later (not in graphic detail) when it's all over.

Hi Linda,
I grab a hefty pinch of flesh, stick the needle in and then release, get my hands and breathing steady and then push down (you may have a different set up to me). I do not think I could do it without pinching that inch!
It gets easier with each injection, the last difficulty I had was expelling the air. OH used to do it, when i tried I must have done a bad job because my injections hurt more. Now I'm on a roll.....
I did mine this morning....fridge is being defrosted ready for a new delivery on Thursday.
No painkillers! What a joy!!!!!

I know this comes late but I wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your father. Reading the thread, I found it very touching . Your father sounded like a wonderful man, reminded me a lot of my grandfather. You seem a wonderfully strong person having so much strength to deal with your loss and your health issues. I can barely cope with RA.
Thanks also for the recommendation of Colpermin. My mother suffers from IBS to and it's such a difficult thing to live with. She can't eat much because it just travels through her system instantly, she always jokes that one day she'll travel the country and map out all the toilets of Britain for people with IBS . Shes tried a few treatments but the doctors seem to ignore her most of the time, I'm not sure if shes tried Colpermin but will recommend it to her.
Again, sorry this is so late in coming. But I was very touched by your words and hope for good health in the future.0 -
Hello SaitenMar, it's nice to see your name again, I hope you are as well as you can be.
For the humira I pinch and keep it pinched whilst injecting, but for the meth I don't bother as that is a very little needle. I didn't think to say it should be the top of the thigh, I'm sorry about that, legs, but if that works better for you then you go girl! And as for the lack of pain relief - marvellous! Isn't it great when a plan actually comes together?
As for the other malarkey: it's unpleasant, yes, essential, yes, long-lasting? No. That at least has an end (boom-boom!) in sight and I wish you the very, very best with it all. I will be thinking of you and there will be an extra ring of the bell tonight at 7pm. (Or thereabouts.) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hope it all goes well, Legs. For me, managing to drink all that liquid in the alloted time was by far the worst bit of the whole thing. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thank you so much for your kind words SaitenMar and condolences. My dad was a lovely man
I didn't recommend the Colpermin as my treatment has been Loperamide and Codeine Phosphate. It's others you have to thank for that such as Cebeem, Janie, Mermaid, RachelJ and Liesa ....I sincerely hopes it works for your mum. (When she's done the map of toilets in Britain you must let me have a copy )
I hope you're having a good day.

OH :!: MY :!: GOODNESS :!:
Tuesday: Despite all your warnings I looked at the litre of solution and thought well that doesn't look too much to drink:roll: Drank a glass every 15 mins ...........by glass three I was trying to get it all down in one go without breathing  The 2nd litre at 6:00 pm was so hard to face but with determination I did manage it.
Armed with a good book, crossword puzzle and phone I had to sit on that there toilet from 3:00 till 9:30 ending up with a sore botty, back ache ..........and a permanent red ring on my bottom. Even when I got off I had to keep going back till 11:30!
Wednesday I can honestly say that I was less bothered when I had my knee revision earlier this year .....what sort of fool am I  I asked for a sedative but none of my veins were good enough so I went cold turkey. I won't go into detail but it was uncomfortable. It did only take 10 mins. I was wheeled into recovery with a LTT .......Licence To Trump, in order to expel all the air they'd pumped in
The result is my bowels are pink, clean and healthy, no piles, pockets or polyps. They think my runs are down to the meds I take. I'm hoping that now I have the Enbrel jabs and have stopped my pain meds it could help my body to settle down.
Fingers crossed.
Thank you to everyone for your help, advice and support it has been invaluable. You are all my rock in a crisis.
Lots of love,Love, Legs x

Hi Linda,
Sorry I've not posted for a while. Well it's over now....revolting stuff.
I'm really surprised they couldn't give you some sort of sedative.....doesn't have to be in a vien.
I'm also pleased nothing was found..what a relief for you.
Now I hope everything settles down for you.
I think you've been through enough lately. I'm thinking of you. May0
