    Legs I am so sorry to hear that your dad is worse. It was a great idea to ask your brother to move the phone next to his bed so you could talk to him. It made my eyes leak.
    Seinding you hugs and strength to help you through.

    Aw, dear Linda, what a truly, beautiful, loving thing to do. You have said your goodbyes, there is no need to see your dear dad again, he will always be with you in your heart.

    Linda he will have heard all those lovely words you said to him. They will have been uplifting and a great comfort to him.If he doesn't make it through the night they will be among his last memories. if he does, you can go over tomorrow and tell him all over again. We can't ask for more than the love of our children.

    I have been thinking of you all evening, Linda. I don't have the words but I hope that being there towards his end, in the way that you could, was a celebration of not only your love but also of your shared experience of life.

    Linda, I'm so sorry that you are having such a sad and difficult time. For any of us on the site who have lost our parents, we know what you are going through. I lost my Mum and Dad within a year of each other, so my sympathies are with you.

    He's still with us.

    The District Nurses were with him when I phoned this morning. They'd washed and shaved him (being clean shaven is so important to my Dad) and they put him a clean shirt on and gently brushed his hair.

    He doesn't move anymore and just lays there seemingly asleep.

    My sister and brother sit with him throughout the night so there's always someone at his bedside. Sometimes they talk between themselves, sometimes to him and then they take turns at sleeping themselves. My Dad couldn't want for better care.

    I won't be able to go today as I've not had a brilliant start but I'm at peace with myself now because I've told him I love him and said things I know I couldn't have said to his face.

    I've resigned myself to the fact I won't see him before he dies but he's at home surrounded by my siblings who love him as much as I and that's the most important thing.

    Oh Legs, my eyes have gone all prickly. This is such a sad time and yet you are all dealing with it so well, especially you. I tend to feel your Dad has got the family he well deserves.

    I'm so glad you feel at peace with yourself. It is important to feel you've done all you can and you certainly have done that.

    I don't part with these very readily but here goes (((( ))))

    oh Legs he sounds peaceful and surrounded by the folks who love him and who he loves. Your love will be with him to and his with you cus thats how it works.

    You have already said all you wish to say to your dear dad, he is with your brothers and sisters, in a home environment, he is as comfortable as is possible, being treated with dignity and when the time comes he will quietly slip away.
