Sorry barbara12 but that made me laugh! It's typical, isn't it?

Right, I'm off to Westward Ho in North Devon. I will be ascertaining whether the place we have rented has wi-fi or interweb access of some sort because I CANNOT and WILL NOT go without my forum fixes. You lot help me cope and keep me sane. Even if I have to drive around and find someone's signal, then that is what I will do.

In answer to the VVP query, find the thread 'Some Prat has a Vuvu' on CC, dated 18.6.10. It explains all. DD

:D Weather good, all the washing dried in minutes, actually found time for a nanna nap this afternoon, cleaned the house, out on my bike, evening meal in the garden. :D:D

Hubby backed into a low brick wall, where he has parked every day at his work place for years. £300 damage - you have to take the rough with the smooth :) Could have been much worse. One has to look on the bright side, doesn't one?

My reason to be cheerful is holiday reading material marion, six Henning Mankell 'Wallander' books. My friend Lene has the entire set, so she has lent me these. I shall also take my favourite reachers, a couple of Peter James, and anything else I can cram in. I discovered the apartment has a leather recliner - I shall drape it with a beach towel to claim it as mine. DD

I have inflammation in my thumb joints, lower back, shoulder and neck (not generally all at once  ) and I have OA, Joan. The anti inflammatories help me greatly. I am off them at the moment and do I know about it :) I was off them for 10 days before my TKR and the same happened again, thumb joints etc, were screaming out.

Hello dachshund, I'm glad the doctor cheered you up! Do what he says and see if it works.

I have another reason to be cheerful: just heard from a ex-pupil, he's ever so old now (27) and just had another promotion! I love it when they do well. DD

    Hi DD

I haven't read any of the Wallander books, but have seen both TV series and loved them both... albeit they had a different 'feel' to them.. Kenneth Branagh is dishy but I wish he had had a few more showers I kept thinking how he must have smelt with constantly sleeping in his clothes!! I like my men clean!

    Hi DD

Lola's mummy does tell her which numbers to press, she has not got the hang of that yet!!

    Hope you are ok,

    My reason to be cheerful

I have just become a grandma for the second time

A lovely grandson weighing in at 7lbs 11ozs.
    Narayan James.

Only seen a picture of him as yet though as he
is 3,000 miles away in Toronto. :(

Good news is though we get to see him in August for
a whole month. Yippee, cant wait to cuddle
    the little guy.

Oh Babycham you are from Quebec?

    Been there, its lovely.

The only thing I have against it is my ex-daughter
in law is from there, hence the reason my son lives
    in Canada?

But he met a lovely Canadian girl a couple of yrs ago and now has
this baby boy with her and his 10 yr old daughter from his
marriage, which I have to say whilst the marriage was a
disaster, it brought us a lovely
    grand-daughter Priya.

Yes, very excited about our trip to Toronto.

How long have you been in England and I guess
    you will be bi-lingual. :?:

    Thank you DD.

    Babycham, I love Canada
what an amazing country it is.

Been lots of times since my son
moved there - just the 7 hrs flight
is a bit much when you arent in
A1 health, but its worth it, even
the wheelchair bit at the airport
knowing that I get to see my lovely
    son and his family.

    Me too Babycham,
Been there in deep snow -20 degrees but its
still beautiful with blue skies and lots of sunshine.

Our son keeps telling us to move there
but its not easy with having an ongoing disease, also, we
have our daughter here in England.
    what to do??

    Kath

    PS
Only been to BC once, Vancouver where my son
got married 14 yrs ago, flew over for the wedding
and came back the NEXT DAY, was fit and active
in those days though. Took 6 flights there and back
with 2 delays, Christmas eve had to stay
overnight in Toronto and Christmas day had to stay
    overnight in Heathrow.

phew what a journey that was, never to be forgotten

Congratulations on becoming a grandma for the second time. Grandchildren bring such joy. At one time, I thought that I would never become a mother ( my twins are adopted ) so my three grand-daughters are an extra-special bonus. I hope you will have a lovely time in Canada.

    Thank you Joan

I heard about your lovely family
on other posts and to adopt your
twins was such an amazing thing
    for you.

I may have told you before as we
are 'ladies of a similar age' that I
    had infertility problems for years
and only after we were awaiting
to be ok'd as adoptive parents and
after lots of infertility ops and procedures
did I become pregnant, had a son and
then 2 yrs later a daughter.

    So we are both lucky.
    And yes, children and
    grandchildren are a blessing.

    Kath
