Baking day chez Elna - two Gluten Free loaves and 2 Malt loaves Tidied up and vacuumed the house, lots of ironing, as you may know I find that quite theraputic Oh, and a very productive phone convo with the GP.The happiest people don't have the best of everything. today I rescued a robin that had seriously hurt itself hitting the window.
Held it for over 3/4 hour giving it a drink then put it behind a flowerpot so cats couldn't get it. I really thought it was a gonner after all that time.
2 hours later still behind the flowerpot so went to give it some crushed fat ball and lo and behold it flew off onto the fence where it was joined by another robin and they both flew off.
Silly but it really made my day :!:0 -
No wonder! That is lovely. Daylily to the rescue! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I have just made 51 fruit buns:) I am wondering whether 51 of them will make it to the freezer!
Roast dinner tonight. I love weekends. The sun shone today too, a wondrous sight:)

Hi Barbara
How lovely to know that you too have had a perfect day. I expect we both have not done anything very remarkable but it is often the little things in life that can bring such joy. That is one reason why I wished to resurrect this thread, because January and February are often not good months for many people but if we stop and think we can usually find something that raises our spirits even if only momentarily.
I am sending some buns over for you now, my lovely. Enjoy
Love

Hi Elna, and thank you for bringing back this thread We can all benefit from reading cheerful and positive posts at this time of the year.
My reason to be cheerful is that I've just been to see the film,''The King's Speech'', which was excellent. I think that Colin Firth should get an Oscar for his performance as King George the 6th.
Another reason to be cheerful is that I've been invited out for lunch tomorrow, so no cooking :!:

It is a glorious, frosty, sunny morning and I am inside, lovely and warm. Nearly finished making a loaf of bread, which can be put to bake in about 40 minutes. I am looking forward to listening to The Archers, omnibus at 10.00 am. Sad, aren't I, but I feel cheerful! I hope you do too.

Yes Elna, I feel REALLY cheerful today :!: It's such a beautiful sunny day and I'm about to meet my best friend to go out for lunch. What more could I want :?:
Oooh, I can nearly smell that bread cooking :!: My grandfather owned a bakery, so the smell of baking bread takes me back to my childhood. Lovely :!: :!:

Today, the courier arrived before 10.00 am to collect a parcel so that means I can now go out if I want to, so that is great
My hairdresser did arrive this morning. Her baby is due any time now. What a sweetie to still be hairdressing when she has only days to go.

I received in the post three lovely paintings of flowers done by my three grand-daughters. They know that I like to paint pictures of flowers, so thought that they would show me their paintings too. Such a lovely thought

Oh he'll be back in the morning with his big brothers of course, but what the h*ll, it was worth it~ No, I did not trip - the floor just looked like it really needed a hug ~0
