After the description of that delicious lunch, just let us know next time, and we'll be there in a flash :!: :D:D
I have found a new way of cooking joints... in a bag  You just bung your joint into a bag with your herbs and seasoning, no oils or fats. Absolutely brilliant the beef just cooked in its own juices and came out wonderfully moist, I then used all the meat juices to make the gravy. I got them from Lakeland.. it also helps keep you oven clean... I am a kitchen God :D:D

You cook the beef, and I'll cook the Yorkshire puddings. I'm a kitchen goddess when it comes to Yorkshire pud :D

Tilly I put the caterpillers in the recycling food bin so they could carry on maturing.
I have a very fast -growing plant between the apple and plum tree. It has tiny lilac flowers and oval leaves and looks pretty enough but as its growing so fast Im just going to check it out.
Rehab your day sounded wonderful. Makes all the aches and pains worth it.We have spuds and spring onions dug up for lunch too.Kids just want a McD though...
    Elizabeth
Elizabeth I suspect that your fast growing lilac plant is a WEED whose name I cannot remember.........check it out before you rip it out... many many years ago, I ripped pit some weeds left them in a sack for ages and they produced.... strawberries  I am still learning. :D

I am certain it is a weed too. It is growing next to a load of camomile flowers that have got blown into my border from a pot. Certainly didnt plant them. I am still trying to trace it the mystery plant.

That was a waste of time! Cant find out what it is is. It has a tall spike of tiny pale pink or pale lilac flowers at the end of a section of leaves. It is quite pretty but is spreading fast. 1-2 foot tall at the moment.

Toni you are winning so far....if I remember rightly the Triffids respond to noise so if I whisper I might survive the garden. If i dont return to the forum.........

Ahhhh, Triffids.........has anyone read Trouble with Lichen?
I thought it was better than Triffids, with a nice twist at the end.
Not nearly as much of a horror story, though.

I now have a complete plan for the garden at last, allowing for the lumps and bumps we haven't been able to flatten and allowing for the buddleia to stay. My original guesswork wasn't bad, just one heather that needs to be moved. Will be continuing with it tomorrow and can't wait to get out there again.

We have a hose pipe ban coming in on Friday morning. Filled all the tubs etc. Although it has been raining here over the last couple of days.
Hope the veggies survive, we were doing so well with them.
We had cauli, courgettes and beans all be it the latter are no doing as well as last year.
The red cabbage does not seem to heartening up, do hope they buck their ideas up. Just love home made pickled cabbage.

    Good gardening to all.

Hello all - just reading back - what's all this about triffids and secret agents????? Garden is s'posed to be a calm, relaxing place and I'm worried that it's starting to resemble more of a horror movie! Have to pop behind the compost to raid some of Babycham's brandy supply (to steady the nerves you understand)!

So, so so hot here today and the grass is looking all dry and parched. Most things surviving though. Looking at the weather forecast we might get some rain in this part of the world on Tuesday so here's hoping.....

OH bought me a chocolate cosmos the other day - been yearning for one of those for ages! Really pretty and smells divinely of chocolate, particularly in the evenings.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Bought a beautiful deep red hydrangea this morning, am going to put it in a big container with some left-over and self-seeded pansies.

I've had a bit of a trying day, so have put a litre bottle of brandy behind the compost heap for later.

I am so happy with my garden at the mo (appart from the slopey bit - but I have a plan for next year involving some moving around).
