Hello Toni, Cham, Val, Ironic, and Joanne

Glad you are ok Toni and that you found the good supply of alcohol!

Sounds as if I missed the picnic earlier - cheese (not as strong as Val likes tho) sandwiches with home grown toms is my idea of heaven!

I have eaten some of my sprouted seeds today and they are very nice! Toni, am sending some your way as requested. Chuffed to bits because not only are they yummy but the seed sprouter and seeds were half price - whole lot cost only £5 (ish) and given the cost and availabilty of sprouted seeds in the shops....

Joanne, hope your tomato babysitting is going well and, as Ironic says, keep talking to them. I talk to my plants - and to myself - all the time in the garden and I am sure the neighbours think I am every so slightly mad.

Toni I can't believe your accidentally emptied water butt is full again! Mine are still nearly empty so please can everyone who doesn't need the rain, start dancing again for Oxfordshire?

    Thanks!

    Love Tilly x

lol just read toni's post, its ironic that i too am also babysitting tomatoes joanne, as well as cabbage, lettuce, beetroot, cucumber, peppers, potatoes, onions, carrots and mint.

my parents have gone away and i have been ushered in to look after their dogs. was also given instructions to water the allotment at the bottom of the garden.

I'm not the most adept gardener in the world so hoping to god that the allotment is still alright when they come back!

Well I hope you talk to them and tell them to grow into good little tomatoes.

Well if it is good enough for HRM :D

I have started worrying about em as its so windy here. A few pots have gone over ones of mine. They are tallish and i worry they will snap.

I got my son potting up basil to sell at a car boot and he loved it and spoke to them." You go in there", "Ill cover you up."
He watered them he was so loving. He loves helping me especally the watering! I dont tend to talk to em.
I have got a cloche for next year. I also noticed some hand painted pots on pink one blue with flowers painted on them and a cream one with chickens on. I asked if they would get more in and have left my number. The lady will do some more chicken ones for me. I want a bit of a theme in the garden.

Hope u are enjoying your veg n salad happy picnicking!

    Ah Joanne

Those pots sound lovely - might need to bring em in if we get a winter like last year. theme sounds good :)

Can you shelter the tomatoes at all - behind a wall or anything??

Best thing is just to keep an eye I reckon.

    Thanks Rehab...

think I have time to get to homeb@se today

Tilly I have NO idea how we got do much rain - I think the west got it - we have sun atm - typical am at hardressers 10:1 it will be raining when we get out

    Morning all!

Toni - love the piccy! My seed sprouter and seeds came from local Wyvale but hopefully you will get some in Homebase as Rehab suggests. Mine are by Thompson and Morgan and they have a huge range in their "sprouting seed collection".
Re the "good stuff" I see you have now labeled your brandy supply "Toni's keep your mitts off" and have left the bottles guarded by a giant snail and one of the rogue gnomes! I don't know about Cham, but I'm happy with the cheap and cheerful - don't notice the taste after a few swigs (bottles!!!!) Hope you enjoyed your tatties! Enjoy being pampered at the hairdresses - and hope it's not raining when you come out!

Lou - hunky guys on way to you to tend the allotment - you will have to sit and watch them work though (shame) because otherwise they will skive and eat all the produce!

Joanne - your pots sound lovely - I love chickens and would love to rehome some ex-battery hens but I would want to let them roam free and as my hubby says, it's either chickens or a garden, so no chickens then!

Still waiting for rain here - took me ages to water this morning!

Hope you :D all have a good day.

    Love Tillyx

Just setting up a comfy chair for Annie, where she can sit with her leg elevated and enjoy the garden. Annie, if you do pop in, hunky guys will be at your service, ready to attend to your every whim so you don't have to get up! They are also on hand to help in your garden if you need them whilst you can't do it yourself!

Hope you start to feel better soon.

    Hi Toni, Joanne and Rehab

Glad you got your seed sprouting stuff Toni. I'm sure Lucy will really enjoy seeing them grow (and eating them of course!) I am thinking of buying a second kit because I am eating them faster than I have room to grow them. And you are right they are very nutritious! Bit of a tip here - my kit talks about soaking the seed in a jamjar and straining through a peice of muslin before putting in the sprouting trays. I didn't have either jamjar or muslin so just soaked seed in a bowl overnight and drained through a seive. Worked fine!
Joanne, glad you enjoyed your gardenng but hope you haven't overdone it! That's the danger with gardening - you go out to do "just a bit of pottering" and before you know it you've been out there for hours!

    Love Tilly x :D

Hi tilly mine are soaking in a jug atm

Dead exited - doing them in kind of reverse order so the slowest are at the bottom of the spouter.

Cant wait - Lucy loves them - just out of interets can you 'tell' when they are ready??

The vitamins in them - wow!

    Love Tonixx

Yes Joanne - Till's right - pace yorself a bit or you will have to neglect it while you recover.

    Talking of recovering....

I ahve brought several pairs of secateurs....can we all pleas do some dead-heading for Annie?? She is worrying about it

Glad everyone is enjoying the gardening :D
Must send some of our rain over to you all. Not had a good dry day for ages :(
On the other hand not had to go out watering after work :D
The lawn is over grown as not been dry enough to cut it. Hubby managed to cut the hedges last Sat morning, just before the down pour.
Rover my torte cat still loves being out. Likes being in the greenhouse to keep her eye on whats going on. Snails enjoying themselves

One of my clearest memories of my maternal grandfather is the smell of his greenhouse in tomato growing season. It's one of the best smells on this planet.

I am pleased to report that our huge lavender bush is swarming with varieties of bees and butterflies. I am less pleased to report that our recently cleared flowerbeds are swarming with flies, thank to the many piles of fresh (and drying and dessicated) piles of cat poo. DD
