Hi applerose. It tells you when you joined in the left hand side under your name. I've been on nearly 4 years and Toni even longer than that. I seem to remember they got rid of the joining date for a while, because they didn't want new members to feel Reticent (I'm unsure what word to put here) '. The dates seem to have come back now.

My daughter has a radio show with her uni but has put in for a Summer intern at the Beeb. As I live in the 'burbs' she would come and stay here temporarily until returning back to her course for he final year. She started with Japanese but then changed to linguistics. The radio stuff is a hobby.

Mr O -I've asked many questions in my 4 years on AC and not received a reply but think there are so many people on here that it is so easy to miss. I expect I've missed a few.

Catie I expect you'd get a big reduction if you had all the windows replaced.

Toni I have seen the Angel/ cherubs picture and it is great. I just love painting so it would be a lovely way to make some money but I'm aware there is so much competition.

Right I'm late up so I will grab a black coffee,

    Elizabeth x

Hi all,Our daughter got us some last minute tickets for a show at the theatre this afternoon and organised lunch for us in the restaurant ,really enjoyed the show it was 9-5 the musical. For lunch I had smoked trout with horseradish cream with rustic bread then chicken surpreme with ratatouille and baby new potatoes tossed in parsley butter nearly nodded off during the show.Back home now with a much needed cup of tea. Oops, Toni, did they actually break? Will your optician fix them?

Barbara, that was funny. Think I would have noticed a bean.

Catie, I have a pair for the computer which I keep on the table, a pair next to the bed for reading and a pair in my handbag for reading labels on tins. Still manage to mislay them if I take them off in the kitchen then go and sit down in the living room.

Elizabeth, so it does. Maybe it's all the fingerprints on my glasses that stopped me from noticing that. I've been here for just over a year. Your daughter has a radio show. How wonderful. And she must be very clever learning Japanese. My boss's friend is Japanese and about 35 and she said even she hasn't learned the language yet as it is so complicated.

Mig, sounds as if you had a wonderful day with the show and a beautiful meal.

It's our town's annual gala tomorrow and I have been looking forward to going but my son phoned and said his wife's parents are going to their house tomorrow if I want to go for lunch. I'll have to get up really early, for a Sunday, pop in to town for an hour then rush back in time to get picked up. Usually spend Sunday morning in bed so we shall see what happens.

    Morning all

Thanks for the tea unsure - it was fine :)

Christine yes specs can be fixed they need a new screw I think in the arm....

Enjoy your lunch and the gala too :)

mig the show sounded great I am so glad you were treated :)

Barbara this weather eh?! It seems ok here today so far fingers crossed. Hope all GC present, correct and behaving ;)

Hi Elizabeth :) Glad you saw the piccie - my Sis has sold a couple and has made some money though not a LOT of course. Having said that I think she finds it therapeutic more than anything.

I hope your daughter gets the Beeb job :)

Hi Catie - Oh lucky you! But so sad that dairy had to stop. I think it's all the reduced prices in supermarkets (of milk) that does it :(

Barbara - it wasn't Cris' I went to yesterday (Stepdaughter is going there later on in the summer) it was local about 20 mins from here. Cris is a LONG way from me about 3/4 hours and I will get my husband to drive - too far for me  Cris has sheep, horses, ducks, (including runner ducks), chicken, cats and dogs :D No cows though oddly there did used to be some calves who regularly stole her sheep's hay though :?

    Hope everyone has some sunshine?

The gala wasn't up to much so only stayed about 15 minutes and I'd seen it all. Was mostly fairground rides for little ones and there were about 5 stalls and 3 hotdog vans. I think there were bands playing this evening but didn't go back. I enjoyed lunch and spending time with my GC. Little Ruby is starting to look a tiny bit chubby, my GD never stopped talking and my GS was too busy playing with his cousin but it was a really good afternoon.

Hope you enjoyed your fruit picking Barbara. Will you make jam or just eat the fruit? I know you enjoyed a cake. I would have.

Thank you for making the syrup Toni. Think I will have one while I sit and ponder.

50 years since the 1st woman in space- on Fathers day! Then I had to ruin it all by watching that possibly another female astronaut died before this. The Soviets have done cover ups but all these theories do my head in. Even Gagarin was supposed to have been the 2nd attempt.

Have spent most of today asleep but got dragged off to OH parents house for a meal and yet again OH forgot to buy mine. This is becoming a habit

Art IS very therapautic Toni. That is the appeal for me.

Very envious of Mig as I love trout and horseradish and chicken supreme. I'm feeling very hungry now.

Heatwave is meant to be heading this way!

    All the best

Christine at least you got to the ..it sounds like you had a busy day with the GC...I do love chubby babies.. :D we did eat the strawberries...funny you should say jam...I would love to make some but no chance here they are gone before I could get the pan out..

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend :). Our daughter-in- law has a nasty virus which has knocked her for six and so we've had the twins since Friday - we are shattered as they're teething.

Catie, with respect to your neck, I would suggest a second opinion. If you would like the names of a couple of surgeons, then please pm me :)

    Best wishes to all :)

    Hi Everyone :)

MrO, I hope your d-i-l feels better soon and the twins too. Looking after babies and young children is tiring, particularly as the years march by :o
Thank you for your kind offer, but I've had a second opinion and basically told the same.

I'm feeling so lethargic and think it must be the weather - so humid. 101 jobs to do, but can't muster up the energy to do one of them :). Hope everyone else is okay :)

Right, I will put the kettle on. Perhaps a coffee and a nice piece of cake would help......

Mr O no wonder you are shattered...we used to have our 2 eldest GC all week while mum and dad worked...so I understand how hard it is....I would say put your feet up but suppose there is not much chance of that.. I do hope your Dil feels better very soon then maybe you can get some rest
Catie...its has been and still is come to that very humid..we are both feeling tired here....I hope you manged to get some jobs done...I cleaned one window..
Tomorrow is the dentist..it will either be a filling or a an extractions  I have had a filling in it for 25 years and the tooth has broke....my son and dil have just left...they had half hour here after he finished work....the baby does nothing but giggle.... really cheers you up.. :D
    No Karen or Coco ....
I hope everyone's has had a goodish day...will see you later xxxx

    Hi All

Blimey MrO you two must be exhausted (but happy?) looking after the twins. Poor DIL - is it the one who has RA? I do hope she feels much better very soon :?

Barbara yes I think you can pronounce it perfectly  and you will love the taste in real life....see our Christine loves tem :wink GCs and that Ruby is doing so well :)

Who said heat wave?? Elizabeth I do hope you are right - well could do with some. Did you manage to get your other shoulder brown yet?? I hope you feel less exhausted soon.

Catie you sound exhausted too :? It might just be the weather you could be right. Thanks for asking I am not so bad today :)

I have the dentist too tomorrow Barbara hopefully nothing to be done....I hope they can save your tooth :? That baby sounds an absolute delight - a real tonic :D

    love to everyone

Elizabeth, hope the tiredness eases for you soon.

Barbara, yes I guess freshly picked strawberries don't last long, do they? They are so delicious. Hope you got the car fixed ok and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Isn't it great having a happy baby around?

Mr O, hope your dil feels better soon. It is difficult looking after one teething baby, never mind two.

Catie, hope you feel better soon too. Your jobs will be there for you another time. Just rest up for now.

Hope Toni and Barbara don't have much work to be done at the dentist tomorrow.

    Morning Everyone :)

I've just pegged the washing out and noticed the masonry bees are back . We have a small area on a wall that needs repointing and the bees having found the tiny gap have made it their home - like last year  Another job to be done :)

Toni and Barbara - good luck with the dentist - hope all goes well. Barbara, I hope the dentist can save your tooth with a filling.

MrO, hope the twins have settled and your d-i-l feels a little better.

Hope everyone has the sun and enjoys the day :)

    Afternoon all

It's been a while. Sorry, just been having a bad time of late. What with pain and bugs and family problems. Just didn't feel I could post and sound reasonably happy. I am starting to feel more human again.

Barbara, sorry you had to part with money for a filling. But that is not bad a price. Down here it is lots more.

Hope everyone else is coping with things okish.

It is very humid here, but no rain.

We have H's graduation day next week, and she can't wait to get it over and done with. We will be going out beginning of next week to get her something to wear for this. She might even pick something out that is not black. ( but she probably will) We have treated her to an android as her old school wants nothing to do with her. Just to make her feel a bit better in front of the others on the day.

Mr.O, I am sorry to hear you're dil has tis rotten bug. How are things going looking after you're grandkids, hectic I can imagine. But lovely too.

Thank you for all your kind thoughts and comments :)

Toni, yes the twins mum does have RA and generally copes well, but this virus has knocked her off her feet. However, she does seem on the mend.
Have you started to pack yet? :)

Catie, I hope you feel more yourself today. I felt the same yesterday with the humidity and the twins also

Barbara, good news about the tooth. I've spent a fortune trying to keep mine due to parents who allowed me to eat too many sweets. Well, might as well blame someone :)

Karen, nice to see you posting again. Life is never easy, but try to stay positive and I'm sure things will be ok in the end :) How did your husband get on with his ECG?

    Best wishes to all :)

Catie, hope you manage to get the bees sorted out. You don't want them nesting in your brickwork.

Barbara, hope the filling lasts and doesn't give you any more problems.

Nice to see you back Karen. Glad you're feeling better now.

Mr O, I too blame my parents for my bad teeth. Too many sweets and not enough standing over me to make me clean my teeth properly.

It's been a lovely day here today but I was stuck in work all day. Too tired to go in to the garden when I got home. Half day tomorrow so hope the weather stays nice.

Well Unsure, I'll go with whatever is wanted by all. And I do love painting so I don't mind doing that.

The weather down here is horrible. Very humid with rain. Hope you all are going to have better weather.

It's my H's last exam today. Now she wants me to help her find a part-time job. It will do her good I think.

Hope you all have a good day with plenty of sunshine.

    Morning :D

Hi Karen - good idea of H's - Lucy (15) has a part-time job at a hairdresser's. It has done her good. Last exam in this house is today (A level) Tis great to see you back :)

Redecorate? WOW that sounds like effort, but if everyone agrees I can force myself

Christine - I think kids teeth today are way better than they were....my kids didn't have sweets much (not sure why) and they were all encouraged to clean them. Step has several fillings my two none. Think it's due to genetics as well :? Thanks for your kind wishes :)

MrO I am glad your DIL is on the mend now - hope the twins are doing well too. I had a phone call from one of the estate agents in France the night before last, so am getting exited. Only two nights so no packing yet...won't be long will it :D 'real' holiday isn't till August. Also in France

Barbara - it is good he filled it for you really - don't want any more missing do you really, but I have a tooth like that - it worries me to death that one day it will go agonisingly bad. That was polo mints in cheek due to morning sickness!!

Catie bless you heart for wishing Barbara and I luck at the dentist :) It worked for me - no fillings!!! :D I quite like masonry bees - they are solitary I think they don't build big nests or anything. Mellman provides 'tubes' for them to lay their eggs in.

Anyway hopefully a nice day for us all today.

    So far overcast here :(

    love
