Thank you for the sponge cake Elizabeth. I think I'll have a slice with a cuppa by the fire.

Barbara, as soon as Xmas is over, I start thinking of spring and do a rough countdown so it doesn't seem too far away. Isn't it funny how babies enjoy playing with the boxes rather than the toys.

Kath, that must have been hard work when they were babies. Or is it still? Hope you have recovered from the breast cancer now. It must be such a worry. As for the weather, we never know what we are going to get, do we?

Ha ha Mig. I can just picture you dipping down. (Or I would if I knew what you looked like  ). I'm hoping we won't get snow too. I don't mind a bit at Xmas but not after that. Although I guess the kids enjoy it. My GD got a sled-type thing, just big enough for her to sit on with a long handle. I think she said it was called a bum sledge. :?

Met up with dad and my sisters in town today then I went back to dad's house. He seems quite happy but told me about 20 times that he should have picked his new glasses up today but couldn't get there on time as the opticians was only open for 2 hours this morning. He's got my mum's dad's pocket watch which apparently stopped working the day he died. My dad has told me about 4 times every week for weeks now about that. I know it's not his fault but I do get tired of repeating myself when answering him. It is easier when the others are there but it was only dad and I at his today.

Hoping Lucy and Toni are able to have a peaceful weekend ready for the next round on Monday.

Thank you Mig. I have a much clearer picture now. :D Natural highlights and laughter lines are good. Unfortunately, or is it fortunately, my teeth are gradually getting younger as I'm getting older. I do have a brilliant dentist and often end up laughing as she's working on my teeth. As for the DOB on birth certificates, they got mine wrong too. They put 1956 instead of 1976. Although that would make me the same age as my daughter. Guess they got hers wrong too.

    Lasagne sounds delicious for lunch.

    Morning
Sorry, I haven't read back on all of the posts.
I was at our branch {Arthritis Care} New Year Party yesterday and almost fell in the door  No drinking involved  I promise. I drove there and back. I had had an awful night the previous night so was tired to start with then I danced too much  {the word dance being used loosely} Jiggle might be better ......but whatever.......I am suffering payback today. So have just come on and wont be on for long.
As I say to others we have a choice........if it's something you enjoy payback is worth it. If its housework  no way....payback isn't worth that  Trying to remind myself of that.
    Have a good day

Glad you have now recovered from the breast cancer Kathleen. Can't be easy to deal with.

I think Lucy is 16. She was enjoying going to parties just before Christmas and now she is having chemo. It is a fine line so enjoy each day.

I know all about repeat questions Christine as my Son asks me the same questions over and over. For him it is something to do with liking the sound of the answer (I read) rather than he forgets he's already asked.

Just going to do some more shopping online in the sales.

Glad you had a nice time Hileena.

    Take care all

Thanks for your good wishes. The situation with breast cancer is that after surgery, chemo, whatever, you enter into the state of NED (no evidence of disease) and hope to stay there a very long time. You aren't actually cured or in recovery, as it could (but hopefully not) come back. I really feel for the young lady going through chemo at 16 bless her.

Just tried to post a photo in this box but it didn't work, so will just post the text that came with it.

Sorry you're having payback but glad you enjoyed your evening Hileena.

Elizabeth, I only have to listen to the repeat questions for a few hours each week so can see how difficult it must be for you being there all the time. Hope you found something nice in the sales.

Kath, I have heard that cancer can come back but thought that after a certain amount of time, it wouldn't but I guess they can never be 100% sure. A few of us use photobucket to host photos to go on here. I do like that little poem. Says it all really.

Barbara, I like a good bargain. Sounds as if you got a few there. Don't blame you thinking of spring. Gives us something to look forward to.

Meant to get up at a reasonable time this morning but ended up staying in bed till 12 but I did managed to get in to the loft this afternoon and sorted out a bit more. Threw a few boxes out. Why did I keep them? :? Some picture frames. Sorry Barbara, if we lived closer you could have had them. And some bedding that my son bought when he lived in Spain. Never been opened but no-one seems to want them and the pillowcases don't fit the pillows here.

Hoping Lucy and Toni have had a reasonable day and that everyone here is doing ok.

    Well Christine,

I've just read about a lady who had BC in the 1970s. Treatment was successful, but 30 years late when she was 90 years old, it came back and was treated successfully again. So you just never know. But they do usually say that the more time passes, the less likely it will be. I'm only 1 year on so keeping my fingers crossed.

That little verse is one I found on Facebook, but I have posted one of my own called Autoimmune in the poetry thread on here.

Hope nobody minds, but I've bought some crumpets to toast if anyone would like them with their tea/coffee. Real butter too. But there is low fat spread if anyone would prefer it.

Oh it's so nice and warm in here after being out in the cold.

    Kath xx

    Hi Kathleen
I think I know the picture you tried to post.....I had it on facebook once.
Picture of a ginger cat? I thought it was great

Barbara.....you thought you knew me well...I think you do  Did you think I couldn't jiggle or I should be dancing properly?

That was my choice........I knew I would have payback but it was worth it.......especially since I'll not be able to do it for months now....well it will seem like that....only 6 weeks after my op but still!!!!"

I stopped in the middle of this because the timer on the cooker went so if it doesn't make sense that's why

That's the one Hileena, shame I couldn't put the whole thing on here!

How many of us are fed up of the rain (more tonight). My aches and pains are running riot and I'm thinking of getting some fingerless gloves to wear indoors. I have hand splints, but have to take the metal rod our as that hurts too much and they are far from warm. Does anyone have some of those arthritis gloves? I've seen them on Amazon and wondered if it was worth getting a pair of those, or just get the ordinary fingerless ones?

Feeling guilty just ate a pile of chocolate chip ice cream.
Tried several different brands of arthritic gloves not had any great success with any of them but then again everyone is different. Mig

Mig, don't feel guilty..... Enjoy :) I love Lid#'s walnut ice-cream and also their coffee one is really nice - not too expensive either :)

We haven't had any rain today Kath. It's been colder, but very sunny. The birds have been collecting materials for their nests :o. We also have marigolds out, but no sign of snowdrops.... What the heck is going on :o

Barbara, hope you have finally got hold of those patches :)

Love to Christine, Elizabeth, Karen and all cafe friends xx

Just been to my GPs and surprise he wont prescribe the anesthetic patches...sorry forgot the name, he says they are not licensed for my kind of pain...now my pain clinic said they had good reviews from the people that had used them for lower back pain...anyway he has prescribed Butrans..I have had some similar ones and they didnt work ...but you never know...
Kath I use the cheap thermal gloves in the house when my hands play up...they are very good
Mig dont feel guilty a little of what you like... :D well a lots but never mind :)
Catie has I have just posted no didnt get them...but its no surprise...thanks for asking..
The sun is shinning here...much better than rain even if its cold...

    Morning Everyone.

Barbara, what a shame about those patches. I wonder if you weren't prescribed them because of the cost. As I said previously, they did help me and so I was hoping you would see some benefit too. Do you think it might be worth having a word with someone from the pain clinic abou the matter as they might be able to suggest something else ?

    Morning Catie
My GP said the pain clinc dont write the prescriptions he does and they are not licensed for my kind of pain...but I have googled them and apparently they are very good and are being used for fibro pain shingles..and bone pain in cancer patients...so to me they are licensed...so I am at stale mate unless I change my GP....
Anyhow I hope you are doing okish you dont say much... :)

Barbara, the op has made so much difference to me. Apart from terrible pain, I used to get dizzy all the time and that was awful. The dizziness has gone now and for that I'm grateful. So I thought I was new woman lol. No such luck... my right foot is now painful and so I'm going to have to get that checked out :x
However, when I think of my problems...they are nothing in comparison to others'. Hey, you did ask  It's a bloomin shame about those patches, because they might have helped xx

My post from last night has disappeared and I can't remember what I said. :o I think I said I would have given Barbara my old boxes if she would wipe down my cobwebs while she's doing hers, I read Kath's poem which is very good. I'm sure I mentioned Hileena's jiggling which I think she'll be better at after her op. And I think Mig should have shared her ice cream. I love ice cream.

Catie, I think the plants and birds are getting a bit mixed up because of the weather. Flowers flowering before they should and birds singing as if it's spring.

Barbara, wouldn't you think the pain clinic and your GP would say the same thing about the patches. Hope the ones you've got work. Did the sun come back out for you when you went out?

Catie, hope you get some help with your foot. Glad you are no longer dizzy. That must have been awful. Chocolate is always good for raising the spirits.

Well, I have decided to join Alice in Wonderland. I have bought myself a onesie and become a bunny girl. It's lovely and warm and comfortable. Has anyone else got one?

Christine I have thought about getting a onesie..they will keep the warmth in so a good idea...but its the toilet thing in the middle of the night.. the patches he prescribed are just morphine type ..and I have some similar but they didnt work the ones the pain clinic wanted me to try are anesthetic that seeps into the skin...they have had good results with them...
I am up early today 7 oclock 2 GD gone to school...they are no trouble up and dressed...so I dont mind one bit
Today I will be thinking of our Val and her family...it will be such an hard day for them.... :(
