Hello mig, barbara, dachshund.. sun shining here too so have been doing what passes for a bit of housework, hope you are getting some jobs done barbara - sorry you couldn't get a straightforward appointment, I've never had any experience with choose & book, it sounds good in theory if you can get what you want.

Don't worry mig I did not take that as shouting lol, only in a funny way, we'll start again with more cake :) well I would if I had any today, will scones & apricot jam & cream do everybody instead?

I've read the recent news from poor hileena, what an unfortunate setback :(

Hope everyone has a good afternoon, going for a cup of tea and then maybe a few more odd jobs, I should be writing some letters really but I can't seem to put my head to it these days, it's hard going putting pen to paper. Especially with no news to put in one, tempting to invent something.

Just been reading about your ideas for your garden Toady. I think it will look great.

The weather has been the same here Mig. I wrapped up with a big scarf while I was out but had to keep taking it off while the sun was out and put it back on when it got cloudy again.

Barbara, no appointments? Hope they ring soon and sort an appointment for you soon. Did you find your jobs list or did you push it behind a cushion?

Did I tell you I've got a pet ladybird? It's been in my bathroom since before Xmas. Sometimes it disappears and I'm worried I stand on it or squash it. No idea how it is surviving, maybe microbugs. And I now have a rather large spider in the sitting room. I tried to shoo it away but it didn't move until it was ready a while later. Oh and there's one in the bathroom. it had better not eat my ladybird. :o

Hi, posting in the nightshift slot again - all well-known milky supper drinks are available on request. :)

Didn't tackle letter-writing, it's more of a 'got to do it sometime' job but will have to wait for the right sort of day so wasn't on my immediate pile. Got a couple of other things done but nothing startling.

Applerose I don't like the sound of your spiders especially as they seem to have moved in - I always try & kid myself they are just passing, although I know full well they like to set up camp. Ugh. I hope you have seen your ladybird this evening  could you remove it to a place of safety until the danger passes, or will you try & get shot of bathroom spider.. I think you said you don't mind them too much so give it its marching orders (wish I hadn't thought of marching spiders this near bedtime!) Mind you aren't ladybirds not tasty to predators, maybe it'll be safe by being unappealing.

Thank you for looking at my garden plans & your comments :) I will be in & out for advice I expect. I have a slightly programmed to fail outlook, where projects are concerned, so I must try & stick at things more & not give up too easily.

Good night everyone reading & hope to see more in here soon, xx

Christine..good thinking ..bet my list is at the back of my cushions not a clue how it would have got there :?
I love lady birds ...and the spider reminded me of when my sons were little and they had a pet spider that lived behind the fireplace...one day it disappeared and they were so upset... :(
The sun is out..but I wont hold my breath...better go and look for my list of jobs again... see you all later

    Hello everyone,

Sunny earlier, cloudy now, BUT a definite feel of Spring in the air.

My gardeners will be wanting to start soon, so I`m going to have to get someone to sort out the big side gate that blew through in the gales. It`s stuck fast, and they won`t be able to get all their stuff through until it`s released. Fortunately I had managed to get the bin onto the front drive before it happened, but carrying bin bags through the house is not ideal. My neighbour said he would do it, but I don`t like mentioning it again, as he has so much on his plate, having lost his wife, and now the new baby.....who is doing very well actually. If I get someone else though, he`ll be upset. Not sure what to do. I hate putting on anyone.

My younger son lived and worked in London for many years after he graduated from University. As a result he never bothered learning to drive, as a car is pretty useless in central London. When I was rushed into hospital, he did say that he wished he could drive, rather than relying on trains. I forgot all about it, but yesterday he called to tell me that he had passed his driving test. First time too. I am so thrilled. He still lives a long way away, but hopefully I will see a bit more of him....and the little un!....in the future. My other son travels all over the world, but is also based in London. Although he can drive, he doesn`t use a car either for the same reasons. Maybe they can all drive up together in the Summer. I can`t think of anything nicer than having them all here, in the garden with me.

Now, seeing as we were low on cake, I`ve brought some lemon drizzle, a victoria sponge, and a coffee and walnut......and of course a salted caramel one for moi!

Now some tea and toast and more ruminating......Much love.....Rosie.x.

Well hubby got quite a bit of gardening done..and I tidied up my flower trough ready for new ones...and fished some newts out the pond..feel so sorry for them... :( but they will have a good home in the lodge
Think the baby is coming tonight so will have to move things... :)

Seeing as we are on page 666 of the cafe I thought I'd better post.

Only read back a few. my Daughter doesn't have a car either despite passing her driving test saying she doesn't need one living in London. I think the cost of a car is prohibitive too. Congrats to your Son Rosie and what a lovely surprise!

children at home all day plus feeling exhausted all of the time and its not a easy combination. Plus had a peek or two at the Winter Olympics. Did anyone see 'Mr O' in the bobsleigh?

OH went off to Spain for a few days so I was home alone.1st night there was a car accident up the road so I had a police car parked in the middle of the road right outside my house, blue light flashing from 11-2 am so my boy would not settle down until he saw the smashed vehicle being towed away.

Hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things.....Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the better weather. I see Barbara has started on the garden ad rescuing the wildlife.

Right I'll have a slice of Victoria sponge before I go,

Toady, there's always another day for letter writing. I often do things tomorrow. My ladybird was there this morning but not this evening. Spider is missing too but no, they don't bother me. Don't know much about ladybirds but I guess red means leave well alone. I'm sure your garden will look wonderful. You are putting so much effort in to it.

Aaw, Barbara, isn't it funny how children get so upset over even spiders disappearing. I remember as a teenager being so upset when my goldfish died. Hope you didn't fall behind the cushion looking for your list. Sounds as if you were busy today. I'm sure the newts will be happy in their new home. I now all about moving ornaments and other things when GC are coming. At least I only have to do it a few times a year. Love the picture of the cats.

Rosie, hope you get your gate sorted out. A few weeks ago, the bin was due out but my gate was stuck fast. I needed to take the screws out of the lock, wheel the bin out then screw the lock back on. The bin is still outside the gate. Hopefully, I can bring it back in soon. Glad your neighbours baby is doing well. Perhaps you could mention it to him. He might be glad to have something to do and to help. Congratulations to your son. Hope you get to see both of your sons soon.

Hi Elizabeth. Good to see you. I didn't really watch the Olympics. Was Mr O there? You poor thing having a police car right outside keeping you all awake. Hope tonight brings a better night's sleep.

Hello barbara, Rosie, tkachev, applerose.. barbara thanks for the photo that's very kind of you to take one for me :D they are very good stare-ers aren't they, doing a very good mix of 'we are poor pathetic pussycats' and slightly menacing 'let us in or else' Do you give in and let them in or just your black & white chap. Your sons' pet spider made me laugh, if there was a spider in my fireplace then it would certainly 'disappear' in mysterious circumstances.. (I don't kill them though).

Thank you for all the cake Rosie :) sorry about your gate & that's a tricky one with your neighbour, if you don't say anything he might remember & then feel bad he forgot, it's not easy is it, this sort of thing. Neighbourhood politics is a minefield sometimes. My neighbour brings my bin up with theirs but that's less as a favour and more he likes doing things & being in charge I think, he's out like a greyhound from a trap the minute they've gone so I'd never beat him to it. Glad baby is doing well. Congrats to your son, that will be lovely if he can make trips to visit more flexibly.

Typical that you had an 'incident' the minute you were on your own, Elizabeth, I expect your boy was more excited by the whole thing than disturbed was he. Page 666, ooer, let's hope nothing too strange happens while we are on it.. like unexplained biscuit crumbs appearing at a table no-one is sitting at..

Applerose all the actual effort that's gone into my border so far is of the shopping variety and that's never a chore for me, we'll see what happens when actual spadework comes in. Glad mrs ladybird is alive & well. :D It'll be guilt that will nag at me to get my letters done, because I know people will want them, whereas other chores only nag because I'm annoyed I can't make big strides with anything (aren't we all though).

Also hope marrianne is ok & others not in just lately, sleep well all xx

Christine sorry I missed you again...I hope you have a good day at work..myhouse was always child friendly :D when the two girls were growing up then we thought we can put things back now...then my youngest son at 38 decided to become a father..they had been together7 years when they had the baby...
Toady you are very welcome...the one that is missing you cant miss... he is like a black with a bit of white donkey...they all come in but then decide they want to go home..the black and white one stays he is 14..I think and like his own space :) must say I prefer dogs but just cant look after one anymore..so at least I get to cuddle Jake.. :D
cloudy this morning hubby is working..so I will have another look for my jobs to do list..I hope that Marianne is okish and Karen and Coco..I do worry when people go missing see you all later xxxxx

    Hello everyone,

Barbara those cats know a soft touch when they see one! I`ve often thought about getting one myself, but know nowt about them, as we always had little dogs. I`m sure our Toads would think it a good idea though. The lady who runs the local Cat Rescue went to school with one of my lads, so would be able to advise. We`ll see.

Does anyone suffer from night sweats at all? I have started to, and they are so annoying. The general consensus seems to be that it`s caused by certain meds. I know it is common with RA sufferers, but I have OA. Having had every scan, test and bloods when I was "incarcerated", it`s obviously not something to worry about. Just a nuisance.

I`ll just have a coffee....and maybe a piece of cake, just in case it gets stale, you understand!........Much love everyone.....Rosie.x.

Hello all, I'm earlier for once I thought I'd come in for afternoon tea :)

Rosie getting a cat is a very individual decision, wish I could have a few :D I suppose I'd say in theory a cat is much less work than a dog but it all depends - I couldn't manage a cat now really, trips to the vet & whatnot, & you have to prepared for whatever comes up. I love dogs too but haven't ever been in a position to have one, I did have one or two of friends' I could visit but not these days so like Barbara I'm now down to cat-borrowing. I'm glad in some ways I didn't have a houseful of animals and then be in the position of having to give them up.

I don't really get hot at night so I'm not much help and anyway I'm RA - feel a bit hot & cold sometimes that's all, unless I'm very flarey then I feel hot from the inside out. :?

Barbara it's lovely for Jake to come & get some quiet time with you, I'm 99% sure that's all my tabby visitor is really after. (Upstairs now fast asleep  ). I actually did write a to-do list today, you have set me off on lists now although I don't often (not those sort anyway) - so we'll see what gets ticked off it. So far I have put up a thing to wind the blind cord round in my utility, so that I can stop wrapping it round the cold tap. If it keeps bright I might take the plastic off my sofa that I had before xmas. Oh, it's all so Homes & Gardens.

Hello dachshund and hope you are well today too. :)

Are we really having snow? :o

Meant to say, the 'hah' man could only bring one of my meds today so will have to come back, plus the delay in getting my prescription through means I have to be a day late with 1 injection which I'd rather not.. plus the driver wanted to use my bathroom which is always a :o moment while you try & think if it's tidy enough (luckily it was ok). EEk.

    Hello everyone,

I got so engrossed in the blinking phone, I kept forgetting to pop in  so if any more cake's gone missing, it wasn't me

Barbara, I loved the cats photo, so cute.
Rosie, well done your son for passing his test first time. :)

Update on itching. Apparently GP thinks it's urticaria (spelling?) So hopefully the double dose of anti histamines should kick in eventually, although I been taking the new ones since December, and she doubled the dose on 14th February. I've now got antibiotics as she thinks some of the lesions are infected (that's because I keep scratching them naughty me  ). So it's a case of watch and wait - as usual!! I'm ok until about midnight, when I'm lovely and warm in bed. That's when it starts, for about one hour - Grrr!

I didn't know whether there was any cake again, so have bought some apple pies and little tubs of cream.

We had a rather unwelcome visitor today. Our housing association is bringing all their housing stock up to date. We already had the kitchen done, and the central heating - all nice and modern. Now we have to have the whole house rewired!! Shouldn't that have been done before the other stuff?? They say it should only take about one and a half days - hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - this includes moving the mainboard to a more easily accessible place. Putting in more sockets, all with new wiring, which means cutting into the plasterwork!! I know it has to be done, but we aren't looking forward to it at all. Keep telling ourselves that it will be lovely when its finished. One good thing though - we will get outside lights, one at the front door and one at the back.

I've got an oncology appointment next week, so we are putting it off until that is over. I'm hoping she will sign me off.

Well, that's all my news. Hope we don't get too much snow this weekend.

Sending best wishes to everyone. (waving back at Toady)

    Kath xx

Sorry if my post dont make sense ..like they use to.. I think its these patches,,meant to say the big cat that was missing is like a black with a bit of white donkey... :?
Kath its lovely to see you ..have I a missed something to do with the phone is it a part time job . :) I will have everything crossed that they sign you off..these housing associations are such hard work they did this to my brother flat when he was poorly..like you say the wiring should have been done first..
Toady how awful being late with your meds..honestly you should be able to rely on them....so you cat borrow like we do...I did use to dog sit for my neighbours but her mum takes him out now :( I would love to own a a farm and fill it with animals but couldn't kill them for food
Rosie..I have awful night and day sweats they have only started in the last year...not a clue what is causing them..but I am saving a fortune on heating..im so glad you have mentioned it... :)
Joan sorry I keep missing you..hope you have had a good day
I am sat here with my ice pack on this shoulder....why on earth OA spreads like it does is beyond me...
I will have some of that cake and a cuppa...will see you later xxxxxx

Toady, we have a neighbour like that. Either I or next door bring our bins in, whoever gets there first but the man across the road comes out just as the bin men are leaving and brings everyone else's bins in. I know what you mean about chores you can't get on with. I feel pleased with myself if I get halfway through these days. Toady that's it, that's how I feel, hot from the inside out. I can feel that the air is cold but I'm hot inside. :? Snow? I haven't heard it mentioned here but the gritters are out on the roads tonight.

Barbara, I never thought I would have to child proof my house. No-one thought my daughter would have babies and my son's wife had 2 children who were old enough not to touch things and we didn't think they would have a baby together but I've now got 3 little GC. It is worth moving everything though. Hope your shoulder is easing off.

Rosie, I get night sweats (I get them during the day too). I snuggle under the duvet for about 10-15 minutes then have to throw it off again to cool down. Sometimes I get up and go to the loo if I'm really hot. I have RA and OA and not on meds. Oh yes, we'd better eat up the cake or it won't be as tasty tomorrow.

    Hope you are well Joan.

Kath, it is very difficult not to scratch when you are so itchy. Hope the antih's start working quickly. Mmmm, apple pie and cream. I'll have some after I finish this piece of cake. Thank you. That sounds like a bit of an upheaval. It always sounds as if these housing associations do things back to front. Hope the oncology appointment goes well.

At last, my son has been told he is being taken on permanently at the job he started a few months ago. That is a big relief and they can start getting back on their feet again. My son-in-law had 4 interviews for a job in Singapore. That was a few weeks ago. They have sent 2 emails apologising for keeping him so long before letting him know.

You're right applerose. When they updated our kitchen, it had an old fashioned floor standing boiler which they worked around. Two years later they came and ripped it out, put a new boiler upstairs in what was the airing cupboard and left a gap which still hasn't had the floor tiled!! We've stood a drinks chiller on it, filled with fruit juices and those pre-biotic drinks.

Barbara, the reference to phones was because OH and I have both had new ones which I spent a whole day setting up. Work! what's that??? :D

Hope everyone I've missed will forgive me - it's me age y'know

I'll just have a quick cuppa before I go. xxx
