Toni, I'm a very impatient patient!! I've just had to spend 20 minutes updating my smart phone because it updated the software and lost all the icons on my home page  that made me forgot what I was going to put on here.

Well, we think we have a hedgehog. Haven't seen him or her, but some fat sprinkles that had fallen on the back garden have gone and we found some hedgehog pooh on both the front and the back. Don't think it was rats, as there were only 2 droppings - I'm sure if it were rats there'd be more.

I'm just eating a small pack of dried mango. Now we have to have 7 a day instead of 5, I must increase my intake - although I prefer veggies to fruit really. Maybe I should get myself a small pack of frozen peas or green beans and eat those.

mig, have a good weekend at Bournmouth.
Toady, I've just had a cheese bake too. But I prefer the pies with shortcrust pastry to the bakes with puff pastry.

18 days until my Dermatology appointment - and counting. :?

Have a good weekend everybody. Kath xx

    Hello people :D

Barbara I forgot to ask if you did get out for your hour yesterday, hope you did :) the upgrades I mean are only the ones I need to do while I sort out what my next move is after the end-of-windows-xp-support thing, you haven't missed anything.. still not 100% sure what I'm doing, 4 days to go  but I'll get there.

Hope you do settle on some shoes applerose, I guess you could do a wear-a-pair and take-a-pair sort of thing if necessary.. hope they get some decent weather lined up for then. :)

Hello Toni :) glad you have had time to come in for a proper look round the threads, hope next week plays out as you expect and is better all round. Both pc and laptop need fiddling with but I have my phone for internet so at worst I will be able to read & keep up with your & any other news..

Will be in the garden later I hope if it stays fine but it's pretty dull & 'huffly', some sun would be nice but there's things to do indoors and finish the tidying (yes barbara, bedroom doors will definitely be closed, padlocked would be better! the thought of anyone going in by mistake! :o )

    Tea and a sandwich I think :D

    /edit
Hello Kath too, good luck with your fruit & veg (frozen peas  you could think of them as tiny novelty iced snacks I suppose), I like fruit well enough but my favourites are the expensive sort (typical) apricots, cherries, berries etc - or fruit in pre-prepared packs like melon etc. Will definitely have to look into growing something I think! As for patience, what's that? Was hoping to get some post today now I have to wait til Monday at the soonest. Sigh.

    Afternoon all
Kath good luck with the downloads...I was pleased with mine on the samsu**it was like a new phone..how lovely I hope you get to see the hedgehog they are becoming rare...18 days will soon pass...
Toady I though you was getting an upgrade on a flight somewhere... :) now I know have you not made up your mind then..I don't like change and struggle with most but windows 7 I liked it from the start..yes I got out for an hour went for a bee house only to find they had sold out so ordered one online from the same place Kath got hers butterfly house :D
Joan hope you have a goodish day especially with the puppy...
We got a phone call this morning we won the battle with the insurance over the pebbledash...we got on to the ombudsman and they said get a builder to say what he thinks happened and give a quote ..so they have apologized and are sending the check out on Monday... my motto is never give in...at one time I would ...but think having arthritis has given me more confidence in these sort of matters..does that make sense..strange because I have lost my confidence for going out alone.. :( right I am making pear crumble with cream so will put some in the fridge xxxx

    Joan has a PUPPY???

WOW :) I need to see him/her tell me more!!! :)

Sorry, but I am so exited Barbara!! You have got more assertive if that's the word you know. I remember you getting 'shoved' in the supermarket years ago...do you? I still get cross about that person :x

My husband and I....like it?...did get out - only to Sain**** for some lunch but it was nice. Two of Lucy's friends visited today which was nice and the boy 'friend' is coming tomorrow

Toady I am pleased you have the phone as 'back up' mine was a Godsend when Lucy and I were in hospital. I hope you got in the garden and achieved something :)

Oh KathT a hedgie  You can ask Mellman if it's one he's got several and is a bit of an expert on the QT...shhh!!!

Not that easy to eat 7 a day, but the day they announced it I had eaten 7 the day before...unintentionally so you can do it.

Love to you all I need to get jobs done

Toni I put the assertiveness down to the lovely people on this forum when I came on 4 years ago..I was like a mouse.. yes I do remember the man and his shopping trolley I nearly got arrested for it ..for anyone that reads this I am not a violent person the man shoved me ,I was in the queue , so I shoved back and he threw himself on the floor..the police came round my house... anyhow it was know for trying to get injury comp...
Toni so glad you get out with your husband... :D it will help to do normal things but you will appreciate them more...I had a caramel Mo...today you have got me hooked..
Anyone that pops in the kettle is on and hope you all sleep wellish xxxxx

Good to see you Toni. Glad you are all well and Lucy is happy. Thank you. I had a look in W*nds*rs and found a black pair with a good amount of cushioning. Still won't be able to walk a great deal in them but they'll do for a short while and, being black, I might even get to wear them again sometime. My husband and I? Do you wave as you drive past? Glad you got some time out with your OH. It'll do Lucy the world of good to have friends over. Is the boy friend a boyfriend?

Thank you Barbara. I did try on a pair of shoes with a tiny heel but too painful. Got some flats from W*nds*rs in the end. Oh, you've ordered a beehouse? Hope you get plenty of bees to live in it. Well done on not giving up with the insurance. It paid off. That was shocking what that man did to you. Some people have no conscience or morals. I was waiting at the bus stop today. The shelter was full so I stood outside. A man came along and pushed in front of me saying let's push in front of these women. The ones in front moved forward so I pushed in front of the man. As we all moved forward to get on to the bus, the man's wife pushed in front of me. When I pushed back, she looked at me and said "Oh do you want this bus?" "Yes I do." I said and she just looked at me as if I should let her go first. Never had pear crumble so think I'll try a little please.

Kath, wish I had a hedgehog. I've got plenty of slugs to keep one full. I think they are saying only 2 fruits a day and the rest veg so you should be ok if you like veg. I like my veg too but eat about half and half.

Toady, I was thinking of wearing my normal shoes to get there and changing for the wedding and reception. I'll need to take a big bag. Weather wasn't bad here today but I was at dad's so didn't get in to the garden. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Hi Joan. Hope your weekend is going well.

    Morning everyone :)

Toady is right Christine....wear comfy shoes to go and on the way home just the pretty pair when you 'have to'

Now the boy who is coming is indeed (In my professional opinion), a boyfriend, but you might not get Lucy to admit it.

If he was my son I would be very proud of him. He has visited her many times, both in hospital and at home :D

Barbara I totally remember that nasty aggressive man and how much he upset you. All to try to make a claim too!! Good to hear you think that the forum has helped you feel more confidant :D

Even more glad you love the macchiatos!! YUM

Right while I'm here a quick zap round I think:

The loos first rubber gloves on:

    Ditch the rubber gloves now:

To the washing up, but haven't got long....

    and a quick hoover round:

Morning Toni. Yes, I think I'll go with wearing comfy shoes to and from the wedding. Now do I take a big pretty bag to carry my comfy shoes while I'm there or a small pretty bag and a carrier bag.:lol:

I think the boy must think a lot of Lucy. I'm sure a lot that age would be scared and run off because they don't know how to deal with it. He must be a good one.

You're putting me to shame. With all you've got on your plate just now and you're still whizzing round here cleaning. Hope you are having a good weekend.

Kettle's on and there's bacon and sausage ready. Eggs are on the side if anyone wants one. Didn't cook them in case they go rubbery. Oh and some beans heating up.

I also was in stitches at the Fanny Schmeller question. seeing them trying to control their laughter set me off and of course I upset my Son by my laughing. I'm not allowed to cough, laugh, sing, burp if he's videoing something (which is often). Seeing as I have a constant tickley cough it is a bit of a problem.

He hits out at school too. I think I was the last one to get this behaviour. The other two children get upset and have come to my aid but I ave to send them away as I do not want them upset or involved.

I might have to pay for an assessment but I get DLA for him so that will cover it. I will need to go back to my GP and give her more information as she couldn't find anything. I expect I will have to travel to see a specialist but live near London so no problem there.

The school put an amendment on his statement regarding his audio sensory issues but I got a letter from the council yesterday refusing to make the changes. Just one little paragraph and they don't want to know....no request for reasons or further info just a no! I will appeal.

Went shopping in Waitrose. I can just about handle walking round every couple of months and I tend to buy everything I know the kids like and fresh fish and chicken. But OH hates it because I don't check the prices. But I don't ant to wait to buy it 50p cheaper in a weeks time(OH does all the shopping) and I like a treat now or then. He was very
rude tome in the shop  Wish I was still independent.

My Daughter was on the radio BBC6 music Steve Lamacq show on Friday 4th. She was in a quiz representing Newcastle Uni and is now top of the leader board. 1 hour 41 mins in if you want to listen on iplayer.

I missed setting up a ISA again-now 2 years running. The interest is so small I didn't bother before but might set one up for this new tax year. I have one I need to transfer Applerose but there aren't any good deals about.

Right I shall sign off. Sorry talking about myself again but love reading your posts.

Hello all, just pottering in for a tea and a sit-down.. nice to see you all.. have just installed the new memory in my laptop, so I will be good to go when I have to do whatever it is o/s wise. The pc might be more dicey so for now I will prob have to use that offline. An upgraded flight barbara, that will be the day. Dull & drizzly here so not very inspiring. Seem to be plenty of hedgehogs around, if Kath's is a definite, and DD has some too apparently, plus Mell's.. cat brought me another mouse, there will not be much wildlife round here if he has anything to do with it. Shame as it means I can't really feed & attract birds.

Barbara you must be so pleased about your insurance :D a victory, well done, glad you stuck at it.. and have found the forum helps.. I know what you mean about having more confidence in some areas, me too, I think it's because I now feel like - well, if I've got to have a nasty illness, I'm certainly not taking extra rubbish off people on top of that, where I might have been more easygoing before. What a nasty shoving incident. At least no-one in here would dream of jostling anyone for the last biscuit.

Shoving in queues as well applerose, how bad-mannered people have got in recent times. Glad you got your place back, quite right. Taking your shoes in a bag, I guess it depends if you have a large pretty bag, if so, I probably would go with that. Unless I could dump the carrier until required.

Frog I did not got much further with my potting, but I did get some radishes and some salvia lyrata in & today I am going to resow all my basils (sweet, thai, & lime) in the new proper seed compost. Oh and I have 9 spring onions! Woohoo! :D My phone is v cheap & cheerful but it is still amazing what it can do, it was my first phone & I think I chose ok as it suits me pretty well - except I got one with a slideout qwerty keyboard which I thought I would want, but actually never use. Might upgrade one day to one that can play a few more games but this 'un will do for now as I spend enough time on it anyway..

TK I am v impressed by your daughter's music quiz success.. I will definitely go and have a listen.. I use sp**ify a lot but I doubt I would do well in a quiz but it's nice to have a go. Sorry the council are being so obstructive with your requests.. just for the sake of it it often seems with these things.. good luck appealing.

Hello joan too & anyone reading, hope mig is having some good weather :)

Pear crumble sounds lovely :D so I am going to pile my bowl up, thanks very much. See you all.. xx

Toady you took the words out of my mouth ..but I couldn't just think of them   ..you are right that is it, we have enough rubbish to deal with so it does make you a little stronger..yes I won well we did but OH was convinced we wouldn't.. :| there is plenty of pear crumble left...not that it wasn't good... noGC here so very quiet...but we have 4 cats a the door...
If I don't see you later sleep well everyone...I hope that Catie is doing okish I do worry when people go missing..xxxxxx

The kids here broke up Friday gone for Easter. Will your GC stay with you a bit more Barbara? Hope you got your bark down. Hope the cats don't dig it up.

I know what you mean about having a tickly cough Elizabeth. I've got one too and I feel as if I'm choking if I try to hold it in. Your other children will want to help but I totally understand you wanting to keep them out of it. I can't believe you seem to get very little help from medics and council and have to go chasing after it. It's just not right. It's ok waiting to save the 50p if you don't need it straight away or have all the time in the world to shop around but you don't have that luxury so don't blame you. Men. Huh. Well done to your daughter. I'm hopeless at quizzes of any sort. The answers are in there somewhere. I just can't find them. Don't apologise. We all talk about ourselves and are all here to listen.

Toady, it sounds as if all is going well so far with your laptop. I think you are right about not taking rubbish off people now we have arthritis. It's enough to deal with. I've got a large bag I could use for my shoes but it doesn't really go with my dress. Still got a few days to decide.

Not done a lot today. Got my washing done and some paperwork sorted. That's about it. Where did the day go?

Today I'm am staying in to look at my jobs to do list...not one of the jobs that I like doing... strange that ... :)
My laptop is playing up...well the keyboard to be precise...the space bar doesn't work unless I hit it hard..so I try away and when I look the words are all joined together... so I go back and put space in...don't you just love technology :o
Will leave the kettle for all that pops in..just realised we haven't seen bubbles around ..hope she is doing okish..

Glad I'm not the only one driven mad by the bargain shopping. No I'm pleased he is careful and likes to save money but I only go about once a month if lucky and I just want to stock up quick and go home again. Comparing prices is a bit of a nightmare!

I do look for bargains like saving points, double points, 2-4-1 , bigger stuff but not so bothered about food.

I don't think the weather has been kind to Mig.

I've ad the space bar problem before Barbara. I've got sticky keys (You might have noticed some missing letters here and there). Lovely to read about your pebble dash. I sorry I didn't mention before I seem to have missed a whole page from the cafe.I know you are a fighter when pushed!

Toni the boy sounds nice and good confidence boost for your Daughter.

9 spring onions is better than none Toady. I find it hard to eat 1 a day let alone 7! but spring onions is one I do like.

I always take my shoes to 'events' and change last min.

I'm sorry to say but I do like it when it is raining for obvious reasons. We had one kick-off from my Son yesterday. I'm really seriously considering moving now. I'd love to wake up to the sound of birds and for it to stay that way all day.

Well pear crumble is gorgeous, especially with cream. I'll save a bit for Coco and Karen as they must be suffering badly.

Speak soon, love to you all.

Hello everyone :) well the tree man has been & gone :D very nice chap as I thought the first time, very upfront and chatting nicely & openly about himself &c but not nosy which is a fantastic combination & a nice change. He will definitely join my 'list'. Rained this pm but he missed it so good timing.

Well I went to listen to your daughter's quiz TK which of course wasn't a music quiz (my assumption  ) so I had a go anyway and scored 7  I would hope to do slightly better than that against people of university age but then again I never went to university so that probably evens things up. And on the spot, and live on air, I would probably get even less. Your daughter came over very well on the radio didn't she :D and a brilliant score they were tough questions! ( 1 2 3 in japanese? ) At least I knew where the patella is.. don't we all, under the circumstances!! Hope her student event thing went well today & hopefully now she has had practice cleaning skirting boards she will do yours next.

Hello joan yes rude people are awful I just try and think oh well, they have probably been brought up with no manners so it may not be all their fault & there isn't much you can do to change people.. I don't like to be rude back as that defeats the point, doesn't it. I just try to rise above it and be the bigger person but it's not nice whichever way you look at it.

Sorry about your keyboard barbara itmustbeannoying! You don't like your list of jobs eh.. and applerose has only ticked a couple off.. sounds about right, apart from seeing the tree man which isn't exactly work I have just done some more pc setting-up and had a mouse funeral. At least the house is tidyish but it won't stay like it long. I have put some fancy biscuits in the tin, some of those newish ones from the brand called after a reddish animal with a bushy tail (no not a squirrel). xx

Thank you Barbara for being my lady-in-waiting. That's my problem sorted then. Love your hat. That's usually all I do - look at my list. Someone else's keyboard was doing that. Must be so annoying. My keys sometimes stick. I think it's all the crumbs because I use my laptop while I'm eating. Tut tut.

Elizabeth, are you thinking of moving to a quiet area? I guess it'll be quite an upheaval but might be worth it.

Hi Joan. Just read about your puppy. He sounds lovely. Elizabeth is right. People do hear or notice. They just pretend not to so they get what they want.

Your tree man sounds like a gem Toady. Guess he's got started. A mouse funeral? Is that a pc mouse or a 'cat n mouse' mouse? Thanks for the biscuits. Might have one with a cuppa.

Hope those who haven't been popping in are as good as they can be and just busy.

Sadly yes an actual mouse (shudder) one of 'Tiddles' presents, poor little mousie. Won't be the last unfortunately. Will have to designate one area of the garden to a mouse cemetery at this rate. Now and again he brings a live one & I manage to salvage it & let it go, wish he would stick to that, there isn't a mark on them so it's not grisly like some people's cats bring thank goodness, just sad. To think my own cats never brought in one between them, in 14-odd years.

Christine you are very welcome...I will stay at your side...even at the buffet :D:lol:
Toady..you have mice we do and use a box to catch them in but I am sure they have homing instincts...I take its the cats that bring them or are you catching them glad you like the tree man..it makes a difference and it doesn't take long to know if you will get on with them..

Aaw, poor mouse but I guess it's in a cat's nature. At least you manage to save some of them.

Barabra, they do go through that stage, don't they?

Meant to tell you, another big row has erupted in our little town. Yarm was 'founded' in the 12th century and our town hall built 1710. Ships used to dock in what is now our High Street and used to leave the cobbles which they had used for ballast. These were used to build the road right through the town. Well the council have recently taken out all the street lights and replaced them with twice as many lights which are nearly twice the height of the old ones, they are digging up the trees which were in the High Street and have now informed us that they are going to dig up 10% of the cobbles which are around the town hall and war memoriam and, when funds become available, an area on the other side of the road where the Xmas tree goes. Our town is well known as being one of the widest cobbled high streets in England. We have managed to get over 1000 signatures in a week objecting to them removing the cobbles. Not sure they'll listen but we can only try. People are calling for a sit-in so they can't get on with the work. I'll be there with my cushion.
