I didn't realise your son perhaps doesn't like the club Elizabeth. Hopefully you can find something else for him. Hope you managed to get enough sleep last night.

Barbara, that will be beautiful. I love Japanese acers. I've got 2. One I bought a good few years ago when W**lw*rths sold cheap plants in the high street. It was supposed to be a red one but it was green and is now about 7 feet tall and the same in diameter. My other one is about 4 years old, red and has only grown to about 2 feet. I'm thinking of moving it as the irises have multiplied all round it. Hope you find the charger. I've got a bag of chargers too for things I don't use now.

I was supposed to have my boiler put in a week on Tuesday but the engineer phoned and said he could do it this Wednesday so today was the only chance I had to clear the way. I have emptied the cupboard under the stairs (so they can get in to pass the pipes from the gas metre to the airing cupboard), shifted everything in the loft to one end (so they can remove the cold water tank) and taken the bedding and towels out of the airing cupboard (so they can remove the hot water tank and put the new one in). Just a few more bits to move later. It means I can clean a few areas once they're done before I put it all back again. Or maybe it'll spur me on to throw away a few more things.

It's my middle GC 3rd birthday today. He lives in Dublin and I've been waiting all day to say happy birthday to him. My daughter had taken him out for the day with his friends then he went for a nap so I was told I could talk to him on sk*pe after 3. I'm still waiting. He'll be in bed now. :(

Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Hi everyone.. quiet today.. barbara we've had the rain, a fair bit of it at one point. Not too bad now though & the birdies are tweeting so they usually know if it's clearing. :)

I am just watching my ebay sales tick down their last minutes, 3 things sold out of today's listings, and some don't finish til the next few days that have watchers, so I'm quite happy with that. Only a dozen items all told. Shan't mention I've spent some of the money back (well we're only taking pocket money anyway this time round). Hope you do well with your fairings, don't start them too low not that you need me to tell you, can see you've done your research.. your garden sounds lovely, I love acers & you'll have the colour all year.. ooh chargers yes they spawn don't they & get muddled.. I bought a couple of cheap coloured ones to go with some things just to make a difference.

Oh what fun you're having with the council applerose  don't you love how they will admit to things when it's too late; as if that helps, it makes things worse if anything. Remember the film Passport to Pimlico? Your own little breakaway state is just what you need, then you could skip the waiting & referendum & get on with things yourselves. Make a better job of things too no doubt. I am just looking at new hoovers myself as I have some money off with a catalogue and seems like an idea to have a cheap cylinder & keep it upstairs.. I have a defunct upright I should chuck but it was a lovely hoover and had nowhere near the use you'd expect of it so I'm loath to part with it, wish you could get them repaired cheaply. Glad the little lad loved his hoover, makes it worth giving things away when you the know where they're going & that people appreciate them.

Lovely to see Toni, you can see your face in the surfaces now.. should you wish to do so.. will go & add to the other thread next..

TK I know the sort of thing you are experiencing with carers from when I had to deal with an agency, on behalf of elderly relatives, not that the issues are the same, but the general arranging of these things & the red tape & things that go wrong, it's far from simple & can add stress to the situation it's meant to be helping.. would a privately registered consistent carer be a possibility I daresay you have considered most options. Glad you got out for a meal anyway, good to keep it up if you can. Shame the MIL is not more considerate but families often have a slanted attitude sadly.. I know a couple who are really good going to help out their daughter with her children, yet from what I gather I can't imagine her turning round & doing a lot for them somehow.

What a lovely sunny day, and quite warm too. Went to the P.O. this morning and sat eating Magnums on the bench outside the community centre. Lots of trees around there, all in blossom and it's lovely to see the Hawthorn hedges starting to flower too - I love the smell as you walk by.

OH hasn't planted any bedding plants yet - we still have to buy some. But the Tulips aren't finished yet and there's still the Marsh Marigolds to dig in. Masses of that this year. The Aruncus is already getting taller and the Hostas too. On the front garden, both the Hydrangea have flower buds. We only have a tiny garden, but OH has packed it full of lovely things.

Barbara, beware of drinking too much beetroot juice. It makes your 'output' a very funny colour and I don't just mean liquid output - say no more

It's so nice, I think I'll have an orange juice and sit outside a while, listening to the birds singing.

Hello everyone.. hasn't it been a nice day.. not quite up to ice-cream weather (Magnums, is that plural, Kath or one each  oh well v nice too :D) Glad to hear there are some good trees being left in peace.. too many being cut down is usually what you find.. nice that you have a PO for that matter

Have been in the garden just now for a little spell while the light's held, planted out 5 cerinthe and one of my multiplying heuchera, and a small chive pot. Not much to show for anything yet but things are creeping on I guess. Will be glad of a teabreak now :) plenty of biscuits barbara, choc digestive, cookies, nice, I'll put some on a plate.

Has taken me half the day to pack up my eb*y things, couldn't tell you why these things take so long.. and I never allow enough time so it's always nearly last collection & I'm cutting it fine. One more item sold today :) then it's just a couple rolling on til Thursday. I thought you might have been checking up on the value of your things barbara, as you said you felt they wouldn't be worth as much as they were.. go through all the recent completed listings for similar ones is what I do & check what they've been making.. although that only helps so far (as others may have sold cheaply for various reasons) but it gives you an idea..

Sorry if you didn't get to speak to your grandson before bedtime applerose :( expect you have today but it's disappointing.. I suppose he was tired out..
Hope your boiler goes well, I remember all the clearing out well from mine a year & a half back.. but I have a combi now so I got to reclaim my airing cupboard space permanently which is kind of ok.. hope they make a good quick job & you notice the benefit :)

Hello joan & hope you have had a good day too, and whatever you have planned for the next few days.. bloods for me on Thurs that's about all..

    Kettle's boiled, I'll pour up :) xx

Toady, I haven't seen that film but just looked it up. Funny you should mention it because there is a Yorkshire group who are gathering people so they can ask for devolution. So, if we join them, we could be devoluted. Sounds as if you have been busy in the garden and you're doing well selling your items. I got to speak to my GS this evening and he showed me his new bike.

Barbara, I got a message from my daughter last night after I had gone to bed saying she was very sorry but her OH's parents were on sk*pe for a long time then they had a mad dash to feed the kids and get them to bed. I did get to speak to them tonight and watched my GS whizz round and round the room on his new bike closely followed by his little sister on his old trike which had a long handle at the back so dad had to push it round. Did you find the biscuits? Think there were some left in the tin.

Kath, it does look pretty when all the blossom is out. The hawthorn round the corner from me flowered a few weeks ago but the cherry trees are in full bloom.

Hi Joan. Hope you've had a good day.

Well it was day 1 of Pay and Display in our High Street. Normally it is so busy, it is difficult to get parked. Today, it was half empty all day, no queues and traffic, what little of it there was, flowing easily. That was very good but it also meant that there were very few people buying from the shops. I think the traders are very worried.

And the dreaded painter is back at work. Turned up at 9.30, brought his girlfriend in to the kitchen and made her a coffee. My boss and his wife came through and joined them for half an hour. The painter then asked for some money and disappeared for an hour, came back and had another cuppa. Finally started work at 11.30 but stopped again for lunch at 12 till 1.30. Another 2 tea breaks in the afternoon. I've never known anything like it.

Afternoon all..were has the time gone.. :o
Toady good luck with the selling..this is the bit that puts me off packing and posting it would have to be down to OH going to the post office.....the fairings, I have had for awhile now and could have got 3 times what they are worth now had I sold a few years ago before the recession..but I will be happy to get rid now ..you are doing well with the garden wait till they all show there heads..
Christine Im glad to see you got to skype your GS even if it was later ..I wish my parents had seen comps and been able to skype we had relatives in NewZealand and it was done by letter .. so your high stis pay and display..crackers to drive shoppers away in this day and age...out little town centre .. is out of bounds to traffic for most of the day apart from buses..so there are no shoppers..
Just to let you know my son had a call and they want to see him tomorrow instead of Thursday..so say a little prayer please...and my Rheumy appointment is on Thursday..its 4 years since I saw one..I am counting on this one to give me some answers...
Its very warm here a bit muggy..but not complaining...see you later...xxxx

(Magnums, is that plural, Kath or one each  oh well v nice too :D)

They aren't actually Magnums Toady, they are the cheaper C*-*p version. Pack of 3 for £1, so we end up having 1 and a half each.

Hellooo.. nice day.. none of your thundery blackness here, hope yours hasn't come to anything barbara.. just having a tidy up after myself & the packaging stuff I was strewing around yesterday. It's worth considering using a courier for your eb*y parcels, the ones I use are as cheap as the PO and collect from your door.. they are brilliant for me as it wouldn't be worth if if I had to take anything larger than what will go in the box..

Had a little potter in the garden, Mr Robin was feeding baby robin, was hoping for a picture but they weren't around at the right time in the end, will have another go.. here are today's nature notes instead :D

Almost-a-chive-flower, lilac looking at its best, and something I have never seen before - a lime hawk-moth. Fantastic looking thing, beautiful camouflage against a bit of ancient garden woodwork, it obviously attracted it :D see, you wouldn't get that with uPVC.

Interested to hear about the Yorkshire devolution movement applerose.. I can imagine that would have a lot of appeal.. I've been reading All Points North by Simon Armitage, there is a line or two about when Saddleworth was redesignated from Yorkshire into the Borough of Oldham and how high feelings ran over that (and still do no doubt). Your parking issue is another one that stirs up trouble everywhere.. here too.. not enough parking, free or otherwise, and the application of fines, all regulars in the local paper. Glad your GS loves his bike :) great fun.

KathT I like your neat division of the nearly-M*gnums. Ideal. Have got some supermarket ice-cream cones here in the freezer.. you would think they were much posher than the price, very nice they are if anyone wants one.

Barbara will be sending out good thoughts for you on Thursday, I will be around my GP's depending on time so it will be a good place to channel medical vibes from. See you all before then anyway; have a good day if you are going to town with dial-a-ride tomorrow joan, toady xx

Barbara, I love a good storm but hope you don't get one. I told the painter yesterday that he wasn't allowed to use the hoover to hoover up the dust when he sands the walls down. he always ends up blocking it. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that your son gets good news tomorrow and that you have a good appointment on Thursday.

Kath, those lollies aren't quite as good as the real thing but they are still tasty and well worth the price. Hope you both got a proper half and it wasn't 1/3 and 2/3.

Hi Joan. Hope you are well. How is your puppy?

Toady, a courier sounds like a good idea. Posting things put me off too. Lovely pictures. Chive flowers are pretty, aren't they?

Our High Street has been almost empty for 2 days now. No queues waiting to get in and lots of parking spaces but quite a few of the traders are saying they've been dead so worrying for them.

My son phoned earlier. He had been told there were going to be redundancies but today he was told his immediate boss was made redundant and my son has been given his job. He feels a bit bad about it because it was him who got my son the job in the first place.

The heating engineer has just sent a message. I asked them to arrive before 9 before I go to work. he said it will be before 8.30 so I'd better get to bed so I'll be up and dressed. I'm excited. :D

^ hi again barbara, just to say I realised I hadn't wished you good luck separately for tomorrow and for your own appointment Thursday, sorry, I read your post properly the first time, just mixed it up again when I came to type. Doesn't help that I have been thinking it is Wednesday today on & off. So all the best & will check in tomorrow & stand by the kettle.

I use myh*r*es couriers, they do seem to get some mixed reviews but all I can tell you is I have never had a problem and have been using them for years (even before I started sending I have had deliveries from them), I expect it depends on area & the individual drivers as they are sort of freelance I believe. They are very good in my book as they will collect from my porch if out & they will let you specify delivery instructions too, such as whether your customer would like parcels left somewhere or with a neighbour etc.. also you often tend to get a signature even if you don't request one which is a bonus, though you would have to state if you definitely wanted one & then it's £1 extra. That's just my recommendation anyway but there are others out there.

Now I too will try & drag myself off the computer  night all xx

applerose, I have managed to cross post with you again tonight, good luck with the boiler & will catch up tomorrow. :)

Respite day so just time to read up on the cafe thread.

They were lovely pics Toady. That moth really has chosen great camouglage!

Barbara I hope they can deal with the lump and his pancreas isn't damaged.

Sort of good news for your Son Applerose but sad for his boss. Its hard to feel happy in those circumstances.

My Daughter rang today. she was so happy as she had been for an interview for a uni course she really wants to do and thinks they have already accepted her but nothing is yet in writing.

I've had a little sleep today but somebody knocked at door and then the phone rang, neither of which I answered.

    Take care all
