So you will still be very worried Barbara. I'll be thinking of both of you tomorrow. Thanks for mentioning it was Toni's birthday. My boss and his wife weren't around this morning. The painter turned up again with his wife and they both went straight upstairs to the room which he is decorating. When I went up a while later, they had taken the carpet up and were putting it in their car. Apparently, they had asked if they could have it. They got the stair carpets last year. Only about 3 years old and very good quality. I'm desperate for a bedroom carpet and a stair carpet but I didn't think to ask. He went to use the hoover despite the fact it was full. I suggested he emptied it first but no, he went ahead. Couldn't open it, it was so crammed full. He did, however, take it all apart and run it under the tap.

Happy birthday Toni. Hope you managed some sort of celebration.

Fingers crossed for your daughter Elizabeth. What does she want to do there? Isn't it typical when you want to rest or nap that someone wakes you. Hope you managed to get enough sleep.

Toady, your couriers seem good. I guess it's as you say, it depends on the individual.

Hello to Joan and anyone else who pops in.

Went to my boss's mum's house today. She only wanted me to 'swosh' (her word) the downstairs floors. I asked if there was anything else I could do and she said she couldn't think of anything and didn't feel like thinking. She can be so funny at times. Got home from work to find I have several empty spaces and quite a bit of dust and bits on the floors. I have cold water, no hot, and gas and electricity. That's fine as I doubt I'll need the heating and the shower is electric. The engineer has left me a small heater just in case. It should all be done by mid afternoon tomorrow. Can't wait to have a play.

Hello all; we have turned into licensed premises for the day have we

Frog I will take a little wine with you.. and barbara I'll join in a drop of the tea & whiskey.. and I don't even drink.. so I will try not to become rowdy :?

Barbara sorry it was not the news that was wanted :( , I will be thinking of you tomorrow now.. I expect keeping your own appt is the last thing you feel like but I hope something helpful comes of it..

Applerose that is an uncomfortable situation for your son to be in, he's bound to feel badly about how things panned out.. good news for him but a shame to have the edge taken off. Congratulations anyway, they must be happy with him.. :)
..the painter sounds like people I have come across.. first to put their hand up & get perks, & not really the type you feel merit it.. sorry you didn't pip them to the carpet, there is a certain type like him that always seem to prosper & skip through life in my experience. Using the hoover after you'd said he should empty it, oh that would irk me no end, I can feel my hackles rising now.. anyway, hope your boiler is everything you hope it will be & more.

Congratulations to your daughter TK :) I hope it does go through for her. Sorry your respite time got disturbed, I'm with you for not answering to your callers  , why should they drag you to the phone etc, I ignore most phone calls & ring 'em back when it suits. Same with the door unless I'm expecting someone.. mind you I was caught out today because I put my sign up saying 'please leave deliveries in the porch', and a signed-for item turned up so they assumed I was out & went off again. My fault, I need a sign that covers every eventuality.

Thank you joan, my last eb*y things will finish tomorrow, only 3 left - I sold something yesterday to a lady who contacted me as she missed bidding the first time, I relisted for her & she got her item. It meant listing it for a short time but as she was keen I thought I'd be generous & let her get it as it was only a little small value item. I'll round up my results after tomorrow, still have 2 watchers & hoping to sell my more expensive thing but it may not go as I pitched it highish. Hope you have had a good day with some sun as we have had here.

Anyway, drs for me tomorrow too so I will be back after that at some point for tea & to catch up, toady xx

Hope barbara is getting on ok with everything.. will get the tea under way.. I have brought scones & some orange choc digestives.. it says 'we're back' on the packet, I don't remember ever seeing them the first time round, let alone that they'd gone anywhere

Hi to everyone here - even if they are falling off the stools.

Barbara, so sorry to hear your son's news.

I can't say I'm feeling particularly joyful today. Found out yesterday that one of my chemo pals might only have one week or less. Won't go too much into detail - it's all too horrible.

Am I too late to wish Toni a Happy Birthday?

Someone mentioned pizza. If it's one of those French bread pizzas, I'll go and get some. I might also have a drop of wine and see if I can stay on my stool - I don't drink either, except for one glass on Christmas day.

Feeling sleepy now, think I'll go and have a snooze in the corner - don't think I snore but wake me if I do. :D

Sending everyone huggles (sounds better than just hugs. xx

Hello all, Kath I'm so sorry about your friend :( how awful :( not surprised you could do with a glass of something, there is enough cause in life to make you start, heaven knows. Perhaps you & I should take it up (meds permitting). Glad to see you anyway but wish things were better. You were not snoring in the corner.. and only drooling slightly but I have run a j-cloth lightly over you so you're all good.

Barbara at least your consultant took a good in-depth interest.. when do these various scans & bloods all have to take place.. I hope he does indeed get some answers out of it for you, sounds promising anyway. Plenty of biscuits left. Our buses are pretty good but they do nip off a bit quick sometimes, if they get in early at the high st. they are supposed to wait really til scheduled depart time but often don't.

Right I am going to have a little moan despite it being trivial, over my neighbour ringing me up & disturbing me just as I was having a quiet little lie down.. thinking I'd done well today and was winding down nicely, nothing to do tomorrow or the weekend, but no.. she wanted to know if I want some plants she is having to dig up to have some paving done (which I don't particularly, & wish people wouldn't ask.. I mean it's kind but they must know there's a possibility you'll say no, & then sound & feel a bit ungrateful.. ) So I said yes I'll take some if she can't rehome them elsewhere tomorrow. So that's me having to be up & doing when I was going to loaf about. :( Also I feel awkward enough already that I don't have her in &c but I dare not start, as I can't deal with someone wanting to come round when I so rarely feel up to it, but I daresay she thinks it's all very odd, as I have been in her house. I feel like she's curious to get in & see quite what things are like.. & yes there are jobs that need doing to the house, that I know people assume are only not getting done due to health or money. In fact those are not necessarily the reasons. That in turn actually puts me off getting things done as I can see them thinking, oh she's scraped up the money for that (poor soul), but it is not that simple. Ok so I should stop caring what people think & get on with making the tea.

See you all in due course.. have a good Friday, xx

Toady, that was good of you to relist for the lady. She'll have been pleased. It didn't used to bother me catching buses by the skin of my teeth but it stresses me out now. At least you've been and arrived home safely. Hope the results are good. Sorry you won't get time to do nothing. It is annoying when you've been looking forward to it. I sometimes call round to a friend's house for a cuppa but don't do popping round or having friends pop round all the time. Hardly ever at all really. And it doesn't bother me what people think.

Kath, sorry to hear about your friend. It's never easy to get news like that. I like huggle too. Sounds more cuddly.

Barbara, keeping my fingers crossed for your son. It can be hard waiting. Sounds as if you have a good consultant there, spending time with you. Hope he gets you the answers you want.

Think I'll join you all on the stools for a glass of wine, if there's any left. There seem to be a few empty bottles. My boiler is in and I'm very pleased with it. Big problem though. I had received a cheque from British Gas to pay for it and thought the engineer would be happy to get paid straight away. He took one look at it and said, "Oh no." Apparently, the cheque had the name of his company on it but he said it should have been made out to his name. I phoned British Gas and they said they wrote it to the name on the quote. If it needed to be changed, I had to send it back with an explanation. They also said there was a possibility they would not re-issue it. The engineer said he'd ask his bank if they'll accept it but he was expecting me to transfer the money directly to his bank and he can't do his next job until he gets the money for the materials. Never heard of it being dome like that before.

    Evening all...
Toady yes I got some answers bless him and I hope the scans dont show my back has gone worse..but will be interested to see if the pain is from the sacroiliac joint between my hips..
Right less about me..you made me laugh with the plants I did the very same a few years ago..an whole garden of them... :o I had to bin some...but now you cant have a laid back day is not on...ask them to plant them for you... aww I hope you can get some me time...its good you have the bused I have or had a 2o min walk for our nearest one..but would never get back up the brew..yes try and stop worrying what people think...says me..I have lots of neighbours that have me in ..but its rare because I'm not a visitor..but then some say I have never seen the inside of your house..like you I cant be bothered..so just say to be honest I have naps at funny times...
Christine..yes its another waiting game..he went to work after the scan  ..but I was so pleased to see a good Rheumy after 4 years...
oh the cheque ,but its not your fault so he will have to wait, I'm so glad its done and dusted for you..hope the cheque is sorted then you don't have to bother with it..how has the painting gone at your work place has he started yet..
Right its past my bedtime..one more cuppa with a couple of biscuits...see you all tomorrow hope you sleep well..xxxxxxx

Have a nice time out with Hubby Barbara.

I'm having quite a good day today, apart from the pain in my ankle which has been a lot worse lately.

Applerose that's a strange one about the boiler cheque. It is obvious BG would make it out to match up with the quote. I hope you don't get involved as its not really your problem, its between him and British Gas and he should have made it clear to them unless he thought you would get the payment in your name and then pay it to him but then surely you need to pay a company incase you need to follow up on any problems. If I was you I'd match it to the written quoted company.

Toady what a shame your rest got interrupted. I've made it clear now but often have to repeat that I will be sleeping during the day because people tend to forget (or assume it is a one off request  ). I'd also ask her to dig them up and pot them on my behalf.

It was MIL who came round but I'd already told OH that I would not answer the door, even with a parcel expected. He knows better than to leave me to entertain his family or friends if he is out and about. I hate answering to his friends as I always look a mess and MIL is so difficult to have a conversation with you are left with an embarrassing silence.

Anyway I had to fix all our laptops today so I stayed awake and I'm ot feeling too bad.

Sorry to read about your friend Kath. I lost a friend to cancer mid April and have just been told about another being diagnosed and hasn't long long left on this beautiful planet. It does make you grateful for each and every day.

Uni course is a radio broadcasting, producing course. She will now have done 2 lots of uni plus this will be extra. Eventually she will be doing something she loves!

Went to autistic Sons's school yesterday as he has to choose a couple of options but he showed no interest so looks like I'll have to decide for him (which I didn't ant to do).

Okay going to keep reading up on things.

Hello everyone. Sorry you have lost a post joan.

Well, at time of writing I have finally sorted out the next-door's plants situation (and thanked her, I'm not that ungrateful, was just a bit put out yesterday) signed for my redelivered parcel from the other day which of course wasn't early so I needn't have got up, fended a rather awkward phone call, chased up an eb*y seller who has sent my item all the round the houses, fixed up a lift for an appointment, buried a vole (early hours/ tabby cat  ), & have to now remember to order milk before 9, and make a catalogue order after 9 to take advantage of an offer. Anyone think I've earned a cup of tea? Thank you, so do I. :D

TK I know exactly where you are coming from re MIL's visit. People don't get it though. I do agree that I should really tell people I may be resting etc, as you do, but I don't like to as it's another chip off my privacy. I don't really want people to know what my habits are, & why I may not want to see them, even though it would save trouble on one hand - but also with some people it would make them over-apologetic and concerned and just fuss more, & fuss is what I'm trying to avoid. I know I can't have it both ways. Anyway I feel bad moaning really when there are such worse things than my wanting to keep up appearances. So sorry to hear about your friends & your bad news. :(
Your daughter's plans sound really promising & it will be lovely if she can get into the field she wants to. A shame about your son's school options but maybe he will unexpectedly show interest as things go along. Hope so.

Hope you are having a nice time out barbara & will come & tell us later. :) I had no idea a brew was a hill so I have learnt something there. :D I am dependent on our buses so if they ever cut us off the route I will be pretty much up a creek :o did you ever have any stopping nearer than the 20 min walk away?

Hope you sort your boilerman applerose, without too much hoohah. They will do away with cheques soon enough then we will only have electronic hoohahs to deal with instead which I daresay will be even worse.

No more eb*y sales for me yesterday but I will relist when I next do a 'run' and have put the modest funds to good use so far. :D

Right, hallelujah for a pot of tea and a sit-down. Plenty in the pot. xx

Elizabeth, I had to send the quote to British Gas. They said they wrote the cheque out to what it said on the quote. The engineer said he thought they would do a bank transfer to him. He asked his bank about it and he has to see the manager next week to see if they will accept it. Glad you are having a good day but hope you manage to rest your ankle. You still need to rest even if it is your MIL who comes round. And people will just have to accept how you are. Why should you try to put yourself out when you are not up to it. That sounds like an interesting course and even better if it leads to a dream job. Can your son maybe choose his options a bit later when he's had a more time? Or would they let him change later if he really doesn't like what you pick?

Joan, a few of us have lost posts somewhere along the line. I think it happens when you post just as someone else does and they beat you to it.

Oh Toady, you have definitely earned a cuppa and I think you deserve a slice of cake too. I had heard about cheques disappearing in the near future. No idea how I would pay someone like that unless I go in to the bank and ask them to do it. Guess I'd need his bank details rather than just the name as you do with a cheque.

Barbara, hope you have had a lovely day out and the weather was good for you. Hope your son is managing to put things out of his mind a bit. You've just pipped me to the post. Glad you had a nice day in the sun. The only brew I've heard of is a cup of tea. Strange but good how different areas have their own words.

The painter's wife turned up at work this morning on her bicycle. The painter opened the garage door and put the bike in. She walked off somewhere and came back a while later with sandwiches. They both then went out in to the back garden and sat for half an hour. I don't think my boss would have minded that. I just think I couldn't bring my partner in to someone's house where I was working and make themselves at home.

Got home early (hooray it's a bank holiday weekend) and spent some time cleaning the kitchen cupboard I had to empty so the boiler man could get to the gas meter, put everything back in and mopped the floor. Put everything back in the under stair cupboard they needed to be in to put pipes through. Funny, there was never any space in there, now there's quite a bit. :? I told my boss I was going to vote for a bank holiday every week. He just laughed.

Hope you all have a lovely sunny weekend.

Hope everyone has a good bank holiday, after this one it's only 3weeks to the next,we are going away then.
Went in town to try and get some black trousers with daughter ,we were going to have lunch at Le Pierre Bistro,we got in there and ordered drinks (just coke) looked thru the menu and picked what we wanted to eat when daughter who had been a little quite all morning said I'm sorry mum I don't think I can eat anything I feel a bit off ,so I had to cancel our order the kitchen hadn't started the order as they were very busy so no charge for that but I had to pay £4.50 for two small glasses of coke there wasn't enough in the glasses to fill a can.when we got home she was shivering but felt very warm and clammy so off she went to bed after 24hours in bed she got up ate fish fingers and potato and pasta salad ,so we don't know what it was but she's fine now and back at work tomorrow , hope hubby and I don't get it ,wouldn't do me any good being on humira would it.Take care all Mig

Sun is shining here too Barbara :)

I think I may do some fully-clothed gardening

Well done for winning the T shirts!

Christine - I think it's disgusting bringing someone else into a house where you're working too  I would mind, but then again I am a very private person

Toady - yesterday sounded manic for you  I hope today is more restful  Well-dine for your E*ay sales...if I bring a load over to you can you sell mine

Hi Joan My posts go AWOL too sometimes. Annoying when it's along one  Hope Sue and Peppa are ok?

    Elizabeth
well-done fixing those laptops - I had to let N*rton fix mine for me last weekend because it was doing allsorts of silly stuff. Different toolbars pop-ups and diverting

I am sorry to hear about your friend who you lost and even worse another friend diagnosed :(

By the way I ignore the door too sometimes. It's not fair being expected to be on the ball every day is it?

KathT I am so sorry to hear about your friend :( ((())) for you and thank you for the belated happy birthday wishes. Never too late.

We have a designated fb page for my other friend with cancer and everyone is posting photographs and memories and giving him a laugh- Oh the stories that are coming up

Mig glad she got over her illness so quickly but it came on quickly too so be careful with that humira.

Toni one laptop had the toolbar back on again so I couldn't have cleared it completely after all but had another go today. These things are such a nuisance and hard to get rid of! I had Norton but got rid of it and now use Avast and Malwarebytes but sounds like it did the job for you.

Sun is shining here but I'm going to have to stay cooped up inside, complete with the smoke left over from Sons burnt omelettes (his preferred choice of breakfast). I have the football to look forward to (when I'm allowed to sneak off as he won't let me listen to the radio or watch any moving pictureson the laptop) and a selection of history books.

Well our front garden border is full of weeds; bindweed, dockweed, another I think is called Green alkanet. With such prickly leaves there certainly won't be any naked gardening going on here. There are some flowers buried somewhere but I'm itching to tackle it but can only last a few mins before my back gives in and I have to rest for ages to recover.

Christine I have been reading about the decorator and is taking some liberties. However I'd like to think he will be paid for the total job done rather than hourly!

Off now to peruse the internet,
Just wanted to add that 10 year old daughter made me tea and toast in bed!!

Still sitting with my Son but managed to watch the footie Final Focus. My Brothers are Brighton season ticket holders and Brighton managed to win away and Reading draw and so qualified for the play offs despite the odds. So happy days here.

Shame about the bench Barbara. Its not always easy to tell before put together. But we don't want you falling off it collapsing under you!
