Mig, thanks for reminding us it's only 3 weeks till the next holiday. I'm really enjoying those days off work. And then you're going away. Bet you can't wait. Wonder what was wrong with your daughter. Hope you don't get it.

Barbara, it wouldn't surprise me if the painter and his wife did move in. Well they can blooming well do their own washing and ironing. Yes that would be funny if you bought something from Toady. I keep going in to the supermarket for just 1 or 2 things and end up coming out with a couple of carrier bags. So much for me ordering on line. Nearly bought a ham shank today to make soup but decided I've got enough food in to last a while.

Toni, sounds as if your laptop must have picked up a virus. Hope it's ok now though. Hope you and Lucy and the rest of the family are having a good weekend. Sounds as if Lucy is doing well.

Elizabeth, that's a good idea to have a page liked that. It can be a laugh. Hope you managed to watch some football. I must admit, bindweed has always been one of my favourite flowers. Not sure how the painter is paid but I hope it's by the job. One bedroom, 2 days preparation and 2 days painting. How lovely of your daughter to bring you breakfast in bed.

Hi Kath, hope you have a lovely weekend too.

Met dad and my sister in town today which made a change. Dad seems to enjoy it while we're out but complains once we're home that he has no idea why we bothered going out as we never buy anything. We do. He just forgets. But it gets him some fresh air and vitamin D. Bought some stick on velcro to try and fasten my blackout blind to the window to stop me waking up and hour and a half before I need to. Should really have done that as soon as I got home. Never mind, I'll do it tomorrow. And I got a great bargain from one of the charity shops. They had a sale on. My sofa's seats have badly sunk and are very uncomfortable so I'm sitting on cushions. Well, I found a lovely 3 seater sofa, looks brand new, not a mark on it. I even checked under and behind the cushions. Nothing. Very comfortable. And it was only £45. I couldn't believe it. It's being delivered next Friday.

    Morning everyone :)

Mig Steak here I suspect too tonight - It's Lucy's current favourite :) Hope your daughter is off today to recover.

    Christine
Rondetto had his whole house done in 2 days last week so that decorator is either a perfectionist or rather slow :?

Thanks Lucy is doing really well I think. She is eating again and keeping it down too. Her bf is visiting this afternoon too.

I am very impressed with your settee bargain!!

    Barbara
:) I bought a potting bench a couple of years ago made of metal - it's very solid I think it came from H***base

It might well be OH's DIY skills. I bought some pulleys for the hanging baskets from either Kl****ze or the other one  and when I tried one out the whole basket bracket came off the wall.

and I had to get Step-daughter's bf to change a lightbulb too

Elizabeth Good news about Brighton and how lovely that your daughter made you breakfast in bed. She really is growing into a lovely girl :)

That facebook page for your friend is a good idea I am sure it gives your friend reasons to laugh and smile :)

I managed some time gardening yesterday and like you when I tried to stand up my back was soooo cross with me :( Struggled all night despite 'upping' pain meds. Not fair is it really?

The Norton I had came with my laptop when I had it new and entitled me to one free 'clearup' (my word not theirs) as well as the usual scans. I was able to let them 'remotely' sort it all out. I reckon it's the kids who pick up our troubles don't you?

KathT I hope you too have a good bank holiday weekend. It was warm enough to garden in the buff here yesterday, but not a nice thought...yukky

Right back doesn't hurt in the café so sleeves up....

    e010.gif

    phew they needed doing

    e010.gif

who put washing up liquid in the dishwasher

    and finally coffee machine on

    love to you all

Christine..the settee was a good buy,we saw one while on our hols in wales in a charity shop..its was stunning ..but it wouldn't have gone in the car boot.. we have a large hospice furniture one near us and I used to go in regular...I'm glad you get out with your dad like you say the fresh air is good.. :D the painter must be a one off...
We have one GD hear that is meeting her friends later ..its cloudy at the min but tomorrow is suppose to be nice... :D we are  off to the garden center later for a change...see you later..xxxxxx

Toni I reckon it's the kids who pick up these computer gremlins too. I'm sorry to hear your back was playing up and the meds couldn't rid you of the pain.

today i had to remove some more stuff off the laptop and just managed to get back to normal when the dreaded noisy car with boom boom music drove by and Son has exploded. I got a smack on the hand and nearly knocked over for my troubles. oh has gone to sit with him until hopefully he calms down.

glad the bench is for pots only!

Well done on the sofa bargain Applerose. When my Daughter lived in Brighton someone dumped a beautiful sofa in the street but they couldn't get it through the door so they had to leave it.

Lucy has gone to a party today and eating out but she'll be glad to have missed Dan's meltdown because it upsets her so much.

gotta go as I'm doing the next shift with Daniel I've just been told

Hope your daughter managed to catch up with her sleep last night Mig. Steak and chips sounds good.

Toni, good to hear that Lucy is keeping her food down. That should help to keep her strength up. Oops, was I not supposed to use washing up liquid in the dish washer?

Barbara, I guess it is a mess about having to dismantle things, isn't it? Would it not fit in the car whole? It's such a shame when people leave as-good-as-new things out in the weather rather than make sure someone gets use out of them. Funny you should say about your son going to Spain. My daughter went on Friday for a week. I went with them last September. I've got appointments this week too or I might have gone.

Hope you and Sue are having a good weekend Joan. Hope the puppy is well.

Elizabeth, I think you could be right about the kids picking up the computer viruses. They look at and download anything they like without thinking about how safe it is. Sorry you had a problem with Daniel. Hope your OH managed to calm him down. Hope you didn't get hurt. There was once a perfect looking cream leather 3 piece suite in the garden round the corner in the pouring rain. There is always someone who could use it. Hope Lucy enjoyed the party. As you say, just as well she was out.

Hi Coco. Good to see you. Hope you are doing ok.

Hope you are ok too Toady.

Spent most of the day at my son's. GD was busy in her bedroom getting ready to go clothes shopping with her friends. GS was away in a caravan with a friend for the weekend so only Ruby. She can stand up on the floor by herself now but still won't risk taking a step. She has 3 teeth coming in at once and had her injections a couple of days ago so was quite grumpy. It's not fair, is it, that babies have to go through so much.

Have a good bank holiday tomorrow.

Hello everyone.. just to call in quickly, lots to catch up with will read back tomorrow.. :) nice to see Toni has been in the garden, I have been out today for a little while and put in some of the new plants, they look rather nice now I've split them down a little further and got them in so I'll have to eat my words now about not particularly wanting them  Have cleared a space for some peas and will get round to putting up some canes tomorrow, only a little wigwam type. No naked gardening for me either, frog, but my trousers are a little low slung so there is a danger I am mooning the neighbours already

You weren't shopping on eb*y at the right time to buy anything off me barbara  but I do often wonder if that will happen, that I'll buy something off someone I know.. it must happen.. or off a relation of someone so you would never know, say the daughter of an old schoolfriend/neighbour etc.. Hope the GD's like the tshirts, that's where some of my funds went back to :D probably not the same ones they were buy it now's. Shame about Spain. :(

Well done with your sofa applerose :D are they delivering it for you & when will you get it.. the last time I looked at a charity shop sofa a disreputable chap came up & said he could just picture me reclining on that, & he would come round if I bought it   I legged it sharpish and bought a new one after that!! Still waiting to get the old one taken away, it is so shabby I don't really want it sitting outside my house for the council.. but it would be the cheapest way.. unless I dismantle it & get rid of it bit by bit :?

Hope things are a bit more settled with you TK and that Lucy had a nice party. You will be glad to get the Bank Hol over with I expect. Hope your back settles. I have to sit to do any weeding etc, which is (just about) possible these days, as I couldn't bend my knees to get low enough before. Is there any more football for you after the Brighton & Reading successes?

Mig hope your daughter is feeling better and that work tiring her out was just the after effects of being off colour before. Nothing you can catch I hope.

Hello coco and joan :) hope you have a good Bank Holiday weekend. I had forgotten about another one to come, so will have to allow for that when planning anything. Haven't made a grocery shop either this side of Bank Hol so I won't be getting my 22-a-day  I have some nice raspberries and a melon but heaven knows if that's ready to cut open or gone 'over', I can never tell. I will try it tomorrow & see if it's turned alcoholic like they go.

Love to all & thx for asking after me. :) xx

    Good Morning everyone :)

Toady Your gardening sounds to be going very well - just watch the trousers. I am actively considering getting the milk bottle legs out in the community today....mmmm....think the back garden is the ideal place to start

I have done the wigwams for my sweet peas in the past, but my beans and peas usually get treated to normal tent style. This year though I am not risking much incase we go into hospital as I really don't think I trust the others to water them as well as feed Daisycat and the fish

Morning Christine Aha was it you who used WUL instead of dishwasher tablets

Ruby sounds to be coming on a treat - doesn't time fly! I bet you can't wait to see her walking :)

    Barbara
Spain eh? I do bet you wish you were going with them :( My ex Sister in law is going (somewhere I can't remember) with her two kids (and OH) they have to pay £240 because they are taking them out of school  I'm not sure that it's worth it now!

I think today I might brave the garden centre myself - for grass seed this time and one of their oatcakes...mmmm..YUM ;)

I hope you are having a good weekend yourself. I am and today the sun is shining too :)

    Coco67
Long time no see Coco! Nice to see your name pop up there. I hope all is as well as possible with you and yours :)

Oh Elizabeth! That car :x I know it shouldn't matter, but it's not fair is it? :(

I hope your son is ok now and that your computer is 'clean' like mine at least for the time being ::)

I hope your Lucy had a good time at the party

    Love to you

Hello Joan I hope you are having a lovely bank holiday too. I wonder if Peppa behaves well-enough to get out with you when you go on your scoota yet?

I hope everyone else is well

Thank-you all daughter is back to normal now ,I think it was mainly exhaustion ,she has been working so hard since she got promoted ,she has now got a second in command so hopefully it will ease some of the stress.
Just a little moan our bin collection day is a Monday when it is a holiday they collect on a Saturday, they have not turned up yet ,if they don't come to day it could be another two weeks before it's emptied,I really can't see them coming out on a bank holiday,my bin is full already.
Chicken breast ,mash and cauliflower cheese today, bring your own yorkie pud I've only got two left (we have them with everything).
The sun is shinning the birds are singing and I'm having a cuppa, take care all. Mig

Ps blood test tomorrow ,hope I get the good one.

Toady, so it was worth getting the plants after all. I'm sure they'll look even better once they settle in and start growing. I've done the low slung trousers thing and not noticed till I stood up. Just hope no-one was looking over the fence. They would have delivered my sofa tomorrow but I'm at work all day so I've made it Friday. I really need extra seating but think it will take up too much room to keep the old one too. At least it will give me 1 extra seat. Oh how awful. I wouldn't want to go anywhere near that shop again if that happened. You could maybe advertise your old sofa on the freecycle site if you have one in your area. There are often people just starting out asking for household items on ours. Talking of melons turning alcoholic. I found a plastic bag with 2 apples in it underneath some other fruit. Lifted it out and 1 of them had turned mushy and there was cider in the bottom of the bag.

Toni, £240 to take the kids out of school? I think I read that they fine for each child taken out and each parent gets fined. Is that right? I'm sure they don't miss such a great deal of work and would be able to catch up. I think some parents find it's cheaper to pay the fines rather than the more expensive holidays in the summer. Hope you do manage to get your legs out today.

Hopefully you are right and your daughter can take things a little easier now. Our bin men haven't worked on Mondays for a few years now so we don't have a problem at bank holidays any more. Do yours take your normal rubbish once a fortnight? Ours are still weekly but I only put 2 carrier bags worth out once a fortnight. There's only me and I recycle almost everything but there are 5 at my sister's so her bin is always full by the time it's due to be emptied. Hope the blood test goes well tomorrow.

Yay, another day off work. Doesn't look too bad outside so I think I'll do a little in the garden this morning. I've got paint for the bedroom but I'll leave that till the weather isn't too good.

Hi Elizabeth, Toady, Mig, Barbara, Toni, Joan, Applerose, anyone I've forgotten? Hope you are all having a good long weekend. Lovely and sunny here, hope it is where you are.

OH finally got rid of the Tulips, Marsh Marigolds and cut back all the shrubs. The Spindle Tree and Roses were awash with black/greenfly so he sprayed those too. I suppose we'd better get round to buying some plants to fill all our pots and hanging basket next. Won't be tomorrow though, as it is my Punch Biopsy (why have I used capital letters? :? )

So fed up with the starlings rampaging all over the place and nicking the food we put down for the smaller birds. They're a 'B' nuisance. We have Blue tits, Great tits, Chaffinch and Robin, we hear them singing and calling from the neighbour's trees. But they won't come down because of the starlings and occasional wood pigeon

Elizabeth, it must be very difficult for you with Daniels meltdowns. I've worked with special needs students and wouldn't want to have that strain, exhausting at the best of times - at the worst.......

Toni, I followed the link from one of your little animations and downloaded quite a collection. Do you know if they work on fb, I'll give it a try later.

OH has taken Dan out but the car had a puncture so that had to be fixed first which of course upset Dan. Well they have gone now and I'm playing some music and the other 2 are upstairs playing on their computers. Yep Lucy had a lovely time thank you and was out for about 6 hours, playing mini golf and eating pizza. It only took about half an hour of frantic shouting, swearing, hitting out and tears before he calms down but it takes it out of you. I've learnt not to talk too much when he is like this as he gets overloaded and we have to lock the doors so he can't escape.

We have Monday bin collection too but usually it will be delayed for just one day.

Got the play offs this week Toady. If they win (the average of two games) they go through to the final at Wembley. Brother is frantically trying to get tickets.

Toni they probably save more than £240 by going earlier in the year. We have the exam season coming up so could not consider it but really fancy a special holiday, Maldives or similar.

It is probably best to stay and support your Son Barbara, be there for the results of the mri as well as beforehand.

Hello Coco. Hope you are okay and getting that much needed sleep.

It's lovely to read all your gardening news. Our raspberries are getting taller and I've noticed my hollihocks are alive and well (something tried to eat them last year). I pulled out some bindweed from the front border but couldn't manage much.

Another bank holiday to deal with in a couple of weeks . But that will my Daughter's 30th so might try and sort something out with her (although she has uni exams so won't be able to go far).

Hope you all enjoy the Bank Hols and get some respite and sunshine

Kath, your OH has been busy. I know what you mean about the starlings. My blackbird comes and sits outside my door shouting for his breakfast. I throw some mealworms out and down come about 30 starlings and eat it all. I don't mind as much since I found out there aren't many of them left. I'm sure you'll be fine tomorrow.

Joan, hope your blood test goes ok tomorrow.

Barbara, the young ones do seem to like skulls on their clothes, don't they? Well you're making perfect sense to me. Hope you find what you're looking for in B&*.

Elizabeth, hope you have managed some me time with everyone else being busy. Glad Lucy had such a lovely time. I can see why you don't look forward to the bank holidays but maybe the next one won't be so bad if you arrange something for your daughter's birthday.

Mig, that is unusual for the bins to be emptied on a bank holiday.

I spent a lot of the day in the garden. I've got a lot of strawberry plants that came from runners from last year's plants so I moved them all and gave the patio a good sweep, did quite a bit of weeding and watered everything. I had plenty of rest breaks but still feel worn out.

Thank you coco :) it is looking to be quite a nice day after tipping it down with rain during the night..

Early call for me as today they have started on next-door's drive.. first thought was I am glad it is going on next to me and not you TK.. hope things are quieter & better with you today & Dan was calmer for having the trip out after the difficult start. Good luck to your brother getting hold of the Wembley tickets, hope he can get some.. is it first come first served or random selection from all applying. Cracking snooker final yesterday :D sorry Ronnie fans

Glad you got a bit of gardening done, my hollyhocks are only at the 2" tall waiting to go out stage.. I am never sure if they can successfully come back another year, technically annuals aren't they but they do seem to survive.. though I have never done that well with them in the past.

The rest of the garden is coming on (slowly) thanks Joan.. will take some photos soon. My pea canes are up though they are a very amateur affair this year not like Frog's beautiful ones. Just a 3-cane tripod, & one of the bamboo canes has a wooden leg :? ie it's one pushed into a chunk of another thicker one, the only way I could make up 3 tall enough ones without getting some more & I thought I wouldn't bother this year. I am still waiting for things to grow mostly, plus a bit of potting on of herbs, and general tidying. Hope you made it to the garden centre Frog.

Also hope you can get your slate barbara :) & glad the potting bench is now reinforced & good to go.

Applerose you've been busy in the garden too.. I know what you mean about being tired despite plenty of breaks, the thing I find hard is gauging when enough is enough.. I mean I can't say these days I ever actually feel like doing things, so you can't take that as a starting point & work from there, stopping when you start to flag.. as I'm flagging from the off.. but you'd do nothing if you stuck to what you feel up to. The sofa episode was a chap outside in the street, I was only looking in the window not in the shop, so it wasn't quite as bad & it would be safe to go back if I wanted  my old sofa isn't fit to give away, it's so old & well past when it should have gone to the tip, hence not really even wanting it sitting outside my house. :? The melon turned out to be still just this side of ripe, so it was far from 'ripe & ready' when it got here 10 days ago, as it claimed; so definitely not intoxicating, more wooden.

Hope Kath's biopsy is going ok and joan's blood tests :) and glad your daughter is ok mig, hope she can ease up a bit.

Waiting for a couple of deliveries today.. hopefully my missing eb*y item due today barbara, supposedly it is on its way.. after the seller had a couple of goes of casting the blame my way  when it's clearly theirs.. so we'll see..

I will get the coffee going as I am here & it is near enough elevenses.. look forward to everyone's news, xx
