kath is that flanellette bedding because if so we had the same sheets growing up?
The only food I recognise from that list is strudel, which I cannot eat cos it sets my coughing off.
It is pouring down. That will upset lucy. she went in on her own steam today, first time since mid Feb. we have been dropping her off and collecting her since then. She has a new med but it's tablets and she could not swallow any.
Toni When we sold our house I got a surprise bill from the estate agents solicitor. I hadn't even asked them to sort one out for me as had arranged my own at a cheaper rate as it was during the housing crisis (after the miras rate was cut) and solicitors were grateful for the work. I flatly refused to pay anything as I'd never instructed her to work for me.
Hope your shoulder is better Toni?
OH Barbara such sadness for the funeral but what a lovely gesture with the lighted candles.
Applerose the good thing about Next is they get delivered by courier here and they collect if they aren't wanted so it is easy to return goods and I don't need to involve the OH. But to have to post them to your D. is a pain. Or are you collecting from a store on her behalf. Just wondered why she didn't get them delivered directly to her house?
I never thought of mesh for windows. Lucy is frightened of rain so came into our room last night and shut the windows. I was dying from the heat.
Finally at last my legs are scratch free and look human again. I've still got bruising though.
Take care all
Elizabeth xxxx

Yes, there has to be strudel, and lots of sausages, it is a German menu after all.
Elizabeth, the sheets are flannelette. I think most of us had this type of sheets at one time. But I've never seen striped duvet covers to match before. Emily loves them.
Aiden, I'm glad you like spirometry tests. I hate them. Now it looks as if my eldest son might have to have them. He either has late onset asthma, or COPD Wouldn't be surprised, he was quite a heavy smoker for 20 years. He gave up after a collapsed lung a year or two ago. It scared him.
I'm glad mig's scan was clear, but Toni, I hope your shoulder recovers."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Evening all..my brain has finally given up ..I swore I posted this morning :? ..and I dont swear very often...
Joan you are right about funerals..its a time to contemplate ..do you know I was thinking I wonder how many would come to mine..and what it would be like...
Elizabeth its good to hear the scratching has eased how are you getting on with new meds sorry I cant remember the name..poor Lucy ..but I am sure the rain wont put her off...I do hope they will sort something she can swallow..its scary especially for children
Kath I hope your eldest sons test are ok, he did well giving up after all that time..
Aiden I hope the heart beat can be regulated..I had to laugh at the sister saying saying let him do his own.. you might be right with the weather but best be on the safe side..very humid here..
Christine I am tired reading that..still you got some stuff thank goodness..I didnt know they did gluten free wheatab*x mind you I am not gluten free.so dont really look..Ruby is very good with the gooey eggs.. you have not met out Niamh...
Toni that sounds so painful, no use saying be careful because I am sure you are but have so much on..this is awful being held up with the solicitor..I hope you can get some answers and they get a move on
Like I have said it is dull but very humid here..worse without the sun...
jarred my hip by missing one step..I use one crutch in the house..so now its back to 2 for a while..
Love to everyone xxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Oh Barbara! You take it easy I hope you aren't back on two crutches for long ((()))
I am much better today as I always say don't worry about me.
It's been raining here all day except for about 20 mins sunshine earlier
Kath bless you I am much much better being careful today though. Need to do more packing as estate agent says 27th is still on  Really??
I hope your son is ok. My sister wasn't diagnosed with asthma until she was late 30s, but she had coughed all the way through our childhoods
I am very pleased to hear your Lucy went in on her own well done her Elizabeth!. Why do they insist on giving kids tablets??? Honestly my Lucy is good with them, but they gave her one (1 gram of keppra) and I am sure it should have gone up the other end!
I am so pleased your legs have stopped itching!! Lets hope the bruises go soon. Shoulder on the mend for now thanks
How naughty those solicitors acting for you without being asked! I agree with you not paying. Our buyers reckon we shouldn't pay this lot the full amount!
Joan sorry you had rain we did too except about half an hour. I hope the dogs still had their walks.
Aidan you are right!! it was that scary arachnid!!!...mutter mutter....got it in for me they have
Much cooler today in fact almost so you'd need to just bump into the heating
I do hope all will be well as far as all the heart irregularity is concerned :? I know you have a dicky ticker, but.....you have an excellent cardiologist so he will sort you
Christine you have been drained and exhausted now for a few days...I hope it's just the heat getting to you?
My shoulder is on the mend but I am being careful I promise.
Hope the boots are cheap enough to post or they won't really be a bargain will they
Solicitor behaving today (I think)
Love to you all
Toni xxx0 -
Aiden, some day you've had. Hope everything settles down again or do you think you might need some sort of treatment? Take it easy and look after yourself.
Joan, could you please send some rain here. Only overnight though. The garden needs it.
Elizabeth, Lucy going to school on her own is good. What a cheek the estate agent using their own solicitor without your permission. My daughter had the boots delivered to me because they won't deliver to Australia. It's cheaper for her to do it that way than to buy over there. Glad your legs are ok again. Hope the bruising goes soon. There was a lot of celebrating in Middlesbrough after the match and one of the football players was in one of the pubs down the road from me leading the singing and chanting.
Kath, I've never seen duvet covers to match those sheets. I do like them. I hope your son's tests are ok and it's nothing serious.
Barbara, you know I've sometimes wondered who would come to my funeral. Not that it would bother me. I wouldn't know. Be careful with that hip although I know you are but it's easier said than done. Oh go on, buy Niamh a gooey egg.
Toni, glad to hear you are much better today. So the 27th is still on. I do hope so as you are aiming for that date now. I'm sure it's partly the heat tiring me but I haven't slept well the odd night so probably partly that too. Last night was better but still tired today. The price of the boots plus the postage was just under half the price of similar boots in Australia so worth it.
I woke up this morning and remembered that I didn't go to pick up the battery because I'd been told the shop would be shut yesterday for the boss's dad's funeral. :? The boots were £18 to post. It was still less than half what it would cost to buy the boots in Australia. It's my daughter's birthday soon so that'll be her birthday present. Called in to a different Tesco today. Found a loaf of bread and 2 packets of tea cakes reduced to £1 and got them on the 3 for 2 offer so paid £2 instead of £6. Also found protective screen covers for the Hudl (which I use to download library books). Can't remember how much they used to be but they were reduced to £1.12 so bought 2. When I got home and checked my receipt, I'd only been charged 1p each. So very happy with my bargains today. :bouncing-ball:Christine0 -
Evening to one and all, Toni, Barbara, Kath, Joan, Christine, Mig, Elizabeth
Kath I do apologise, I didn't mean to make the spirometry testing sound like a fun thing. It came out all wrong. Asthma, COPD or other lung problems are not great, as I know too well. I hope your Son gets good scores if he has to have the Sp test. A collapsed lung is indeed, very scary and then some. Apologies again.
I just am hopeless at the blowing, as I end up laughing, coughing, or both, I even sneezed at the same time once.
Glad Emily likes the bed set. I always have flannel sheets, summer and winter. I could have done with a refrigerated bed though, this past week.
Barbara you take care, steady away with the new hip. It knocks you back a step. Using the crutches is a good idea to let things settle down again. I use two when out, one in the house, or hold onto the furniture, as my knee gives out with no warning.
Gooey eggs all round I think, well, someone can have mine and I will be fine with a scone. I can imagine they spread far and wide when eaten by little ones.
Toni I am glad your shoulder is getting easier. No overdoing things, yes, I know, we all do.
Cool enough for the heating, oh my. I am still having glowing moments. It is cooler, but as Barbara said, more humid. The 27th, gosh, that's not long now. Steady with the packing. Glad the Solicitor is behaving, so they should.
I have had a couple of moments when my heart beat has been off kilter, but not as bad as yesterday. I rang the surgery and all my bloods came back normal and satisfactory, which is a relief. I have written to my Cardiologist and told him about yesterday, leave it with him and see what he says.
He might want me to go see him, for a mid 6 month check up. I have a feeling I will be heading for another angiogramme soon ish. That will be 8 and counting.
Those boots are off a long way Christine. I didn't realise they were heading to the other side of the world, £18 is not that bad I guess. Good find on the groceries and the screen protectors for a penny each, excellent. I think they have stopped making the HUDL now, or am I thinking of something else? Who can say, lol. We are going to a big Tes** tomorrow, so I will have a nosey, as I whizz round in the buggy.
We had re organised the coffee and natter with my Aunt and Uncle, for tomorrow, ( I forgot all about our meeting, if you recall, the other week, oops). Bless, she rang and is not well at all, flu and feeling terrible. We will still go and imbibe on coffee, not too much or I will be dithering. Bits of shopping to do, visit to Mark's, 10% off all the shopping, so that's good.
Hope you are ok Joan, any more plans for another pub visit? It's always nice to lunch.
I had better move and potter, I am chair shaped. Everyone take lots of care. XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Morning all sunny and much less humid..
Toni fingers crossed the solicitors do behave and all goes to plan..a law unto themselves..we do worry about one another on here and I think that is nice... so be careful..
Aiden the hip was a deep ache in bed but not to bad this morning..gad to hear the bloods were fine now keep an eye or ear on that heartbeat...oh yes the coffee better have it weaker... not good when your knees give way..must say 2 crutches feels better than one..ie no limping..
Joan..dont think I would ever get up..not on my own anyway..thank goodness I didnt go down just missed a step..have you heard anything about your ankle..sorry if you have said..I will write it in my diary this time...
Christine my OH is already looking for the gooey eggs.. not sure who its for... glad you got the boots off and saved money..things must be expensive in Aussie or is it just certain things..glad you came across the bread and teacakes ..do they taste the same ...or are they dry being gluten free :?: what a bargin the screen covers were...
The robin that visits the garden had a mate a few weeks ago..and now seems to be on its own..unless the other is nesting..we have notice how slowly the food is going down now its warmer..
making more jewellery today..will have to get on to the hospice to see if they can raffle or sell them..
Hope everyone has a goodish day xxxxxLove

Morning all, Just put a mesh screen up at the back door so we can have it open without all the creepies coming in.
Aiden hope things settle soon sounds like you have a lot going on.
Hope the ache gets better Barbara.
Hows the shoulder Toni ?
Joan whats the weather like with you ?
Hi Applerose,Christine and anyone I've missed hope you are all well and enjoying the weather. Mig0 -
Hi Barbara Mig Joan Christine Kath Toni Elizabeth and all who venture into our calorie free cafe
I will keep a check on things Joan, not heard back from my Cardiologist yet, mind, he is semi retired, so only works a couple of days a week. I said he can never retire fully, as I am his long standing patient We have had sunshine all the way as well Joan, 22 degrees at the moment, windows open, with mesh in, to stop the pus cats from jumping out. Nice breeze, thank goodness.
Glad the hip is improving Barbara, gently does it. I was good with coffee today, one large one, normal, then one large one decaff - plus a very nice mushroom and mozzarella panini, followed by a scone, (what else would it be, lol). We took a while to chill out and relax over coffee, just the two of us, nattering to the staff, who we know quite well. It was fairly quiet in Ner** today, everyone must be in their gardens. Not that I am complaining, a little peace and quiet never goes amiss.
No, the knees giving out is a pain in the proverbial. I just go into a kind of John Cleese ministry of funny walks, fortunately the crutches save me. I laugh sometimes, other times, I swear :?
I am going to look for those gooey Kin*** eggs when we pop to Sainsb tomorrow.
We did well today at Mark's, with your Sparks card you got 10% off everything at the till, then with the offers, we saved £10, which was good. There was a tasting counter, (we know the staff in there very well too, so we were having a laugh with her). Free tasting of wine, some Moroccan style rice and Feta cheese, which was nice. She said, hang on, he is cutting up a cake at the moment, to try. Of course I didn't mind waiting. Coconut and lime, oh it was wonderful, I could have really pigged out on that one. OH said, do we have to buy one now, because my arms are getting longer and longer, holding these bags, No, better not, or I will be sending my sugar up the creek.
The birds do seem less interested in the food at the moment, it is all busy nest making time and flirting and flitting about. We have robins, Jays, blackbirds, woodpeckers, dunnocks, blue tits, coal tits, rooks, magpies, buzzards high in the sky, sparrows a plenty, gold finches, green finches, hedgehogs, pheasants, ducks, from the river nearby...........it is like a zoo
Enjoy your jewellery making, I don't think my senseless fingers would let me get very far.
We have a mesh to go up at the back door too Mig, but we really want one of the aluminium framed ones, like the ones they have in the US, you have to have them custom made, dare not look how much they are. I am all for keeping bugs out.
Hope your shoulder is improving Toni, that the Solicitor is behaving and the packing is steady away.
Hugs to one and all. Time for a cup of T and a biscuit. Then a nap.
Take care XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Its was 28 in my back garden .. :hammock:now its on its way down.25...so I am in doors nice and cool did have a little sit out ..not for long though...
Aiden I see you have had it hot... sorry but you made me laugh with the John Cleese silly walk one of my favorite programmes..it must be scary when you just go down...the one thing I like about the coffee shops is the aircom... :deckchair: the panini sounded nice..now we went into Marks today and I noticed it said 10% off with there card if they do that regular I might just get one
Mig..glad you have the mesh up..has anyone seen the very large mouths coming in they are grey like the smaller ones..back to my cold homemade lemonade... :cheers:Love
Barbara0 -
Aiden, I used to like flannelette sheets but cold sheets are much better now even in winter. Good to hear your bloods are normal. Hope that, if you need an angiogram, that will be ok too. Didn't realise they had stopped making the Hudl. I bought mine to take to Australia rather than my laptop and now only use it for reading. You had a scone today? Coconut and lime cake sounds tasty. And of course you had to try the wine. Would have been rude not to.
Joan, I think you might be right about the rain heading my way. We've been told to expect it.
Barbara, I think it's only some things which are expensive as I thought a lot was quite cheap when I was there. Some gluten free things are quite dry and crumbly but I've found good bread. Things like muffins are usually dry and the crumpets might be too. The hot cross buns seem fine. Most taste quite good too. I have sometimes gone to eat my sandwich at work to find it all in bits. It could be that one robin is sitting on eggs now. Hope so.
Mig, the mesh screens seem popular now and a good idea. I might get one.
It seemed very busy at work today. One of my boss's sons was home from uni for a few days and whizzed past me a couple of times. I took some ironing up to put in the guest room to almost walk in on my boss's wife's Japanese friend. Had to do a quick about turn. The painter was painting the walls and door frames in the hallway which leads from the kitchen and utility room (where I do the ironing and where all the cleaning materials etc are kept). There was a dust sheet crumpled on the floor, a big paint tin and tray full of paint in the middle of the floor and a big box he was using to sit on. I was sure I'd trip up or fall in to the paint at some point. Then my boss's mum turned up. Don't think I've ever seen so much going on at once. Had a walk to Ald* as their specials this week include gluten free foods. Got some pancakes and 2 boxes of chocolate cake mix. I asked if they will be keeping them on but the manager told me to stock up now because once they're gone, they're gone.Christine0 -
Sorry to have been a bit AWOL everyone  I tried to post last night and lost my connection
Am ringing the vet this morning as soon as they open as Daisycat is dropping her food so I think she is hiding toothache.
Hope to get back in later

Afternoon all just had my 4/5 weeks hair cut and coloured..so feel nice and fresh and so does the weather... :bouncing-ball:
Toni I hope daisy cat will get sorted at the vets..poor thing..one of the cats next door had just had 2 teeth out..
Christine..suppose its makes sense that gluten free can be dry..but you must have got used by now..so its hectic again at work ..hopefully makes for a shorter day..you be careful with all the stuff the painter is leaving around..I would ask him to move them..politely of course hope you get what you want from Aldi one of my favorite shops..you never know what you are going to come across
Aww Joan its never ending for you..they do say keep changing your footwear..thats what I was told..has for ants we put the powder down or used to I haven't seen any inside for a few years..but plenty out
I love the flannelette bedding and the best ones I have are from Dune*m mill they go better has you wash them ...but just put my nice cotton cold ones on...bliss..
Love to everyone xxxxxxxxLove

Afternoon to one and all. Hope everyone is as ok as possible.
I have read your post Kath and put it into my FB, to share, so as many see it as possible. Terrible, imagine the worry and stress that pus cats and owners would go through, to find out the problem, blood tests etc.......
Hugs from all of us here, that includes the three pus cats as well. Let us know how little Daisycat gets on. Bless, sending feline hugs and human ones too.
Hair do's, very nice too Barbara, I love having my hair cut, I could stand it every day. Hope the cotton is cool and comfy too.
Ants Joan - oh dear. The garden centres, household stores sell ant killers, either traps, powders or drops that they eat and take back to the nest. We used to get them in France, tiny things, but they didn't half bite
My Consultant wrote back and is not overly worried about my ectopic beats, as they are not a problem, per say. If they get worse or intrusive, then I have to have 24 hour test and take it from there. At least I know where we are up to and so far, things seem fairly regular and normal. The weather being cooler is helping, without a doubt.
I have asked for the service people to come out and look at the dryer, it is under long term cover, so they can see why the heck it doesn't like me !! You wait, it will be right as nine pence when they come out and the minute they are gone, it will mess about.
Coffee and scone was very nice this morning, quite busy at the garden centre. We came away with a new lawnmower, so it was an expensive cuppa !!
Time to have a drink of T and a few biscuits before nap time. Take care all.
XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Well the good news is Daisycat is ok (I think) she's having bloods done prior to GA on Monday and her teeth will be sorted out then. She has lost weight though.
I bet people like Joan and Barbara can't believe she's nearly 7 as they knew me before I had her when my old cat Eric Catona had that feline kidney malarkey.
I will keep you all in the loop
Aidan good news the cardiologist is happy enough
PHEW!!!
I am so glad Daisycat doesn't eat that cat food bless those poor cats and their owners too.
Thanks Joan I am sure she'll be fine once they sort her teeth out. It can run in families apparently and her Dad (my brother's cat), died at 7 mostly due to his teeth.
I think you can buy ant nematodes.....bacteria which kill them. I hope they go away for you.
shudder!
Christine Like you I can't cope with flannelette sheets anymore I sued to love them as a kid, but of course we didn't have central heating then......
Lucy keeps crying about daisycat!
Bless her
I hope everyone else is ok..Elizabeth?

Ps going to see Matt (the lad who died recently of cancer - one of Lucy's friends), tomorrow at a teenage cancer trust fundraiser.0 -
Joan, I saw the news about the Queen's Tesco vouchers on the news this morning. Wonder if she'll go shopping herself to use them. Hope there's nothing serious wrong with your big toe.
Kath, I saw your post on FB. I went to the website concerned and copied and pasted their warning as a few of my family and friends have cats. Thanks for the warning.
Barbara, happy new hairdo. The painter left pots of paint and his cup of tea in the hallway again today. I think everyone commented on having to step over them but he still didn't move them. Came home with another cake mix and a loaf of bread which I didn't need but it was just under 2/3 the price other supermarkets sell them for so will have to make room in the freezer tomorrow.
Aiden, I'm glad your consultant isn't worrying about you. When they come to check your dryer, maybe you should hide in another room so the dryer doesn't know you are there. I often go in to the supermarket for 1 or 2 things and end up getting a basketful but don't think I've ever come out with something like a lawnmower.
Toni, poor Daisycat. At least she'll be pain free and able to eat again soon. Aw, Lucy, don't cry. Daisycat will be ok. It is difficult seeing our pets in pain though.
Didn't get everything done at work today as I couldn't get past the painter most of the time. Never mind. Wasn't my fault. :splash: I've started using a shopping trolley when I do a heavy shop. Been told off too many times by physios, GP, son and daughter for carrying it so have given in. Wish I'd done it long ago but don't tell them that. :cheers:Christine0 -
Oh sugar came to bed at 10 read for ten minutes then went to sleep woke and thought I'd been in bed for hours now I'm wide awake, gonna be one of those nights. Mig0
-
So glad that Daisycat is ok and will have the right treatment Toni. I was thinking about you and her, at vet visit time. Just bear with me, Pepe is screaming for more food...............right, suitably fed. Bless im.
Our boy pus cat, Pepe, has bad gums, but they don't seem to bother him and the vet says, just keep an eye, he has never said we must get him in and sort it. He is hell cat possessed when he goes to the vets, one time he had to be put in a special cat harness bag, just to have a tiny blood sample taken.
Try not to get upset Lucy, I know how hard it is though.
Hope the meeting at the fund raising, goes well tomorrow.
I will hide in another room when the service man comes to the dryer. Since I rang to say what it was doing, it has worked every time.....................grrrrrrrrrr Typical.
I think the word is certainly out about the bad cat food Kath, thanks for warning everyone. Hope you are ok.
Have you managed to get some ant killer Joan? They are horrid when they get in the house, they are into everything.
Shopping trolleys are a must, mind you, OH always deals with the trolley, if I use it I am like Bodecia and the chariot with crutches sticking out, knocking into people. I am best concentrating on walking. Glad you use one though and have done for a while. Won't say a word.
You are as bad as me Mig, I was getting up at 4 one morning the other week, thinking it was time for launching myself out of bed. I was sorting out clothes and thought, it is very dark - well, it would be at 4 in the morning.
Went for a nap at 6 and watched the clock for two hours - which was rather irritating. The more you think I must sleep, the less you sleep and the more wound up you get.
Had a very healthy supper, Super Greens soup from Mar**s. Kale, leeks potato spinach peas edamame beans all very nice, with garlic baguette. Oh said it was like washing up the bottom of a pond,
Better potter for a while. Everyone take care. XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Mig I had a night like that last night and it won't get any better tonight.....Lucy is nightclubbing again
I hope tonight is better for you.
Christine - they do like having their house decorated don't they your employers? I am sure they understand how hard it is to get round him though.
I always use a small trolley when I'm shopping I would like one with me permanently - it makes a good rollator!!!
I won't mention it to 'them' of course. Paul is lethal with one annoys other shoppers and me ::)
WE have a shiny new M&S foodhall here Aidan and I rather like the sound of that soup...need something healthy after my curry last night
I totally agree with Christine about your dryer. Hiding is essential. Have you tried loading it up saying something like " I really need this dry urgently"??
We aren't going to see Matt today we will be seeing his MUM! There is a fundraiser for teenage cancer trust and she is selling her cards there

Hi all, glad the puss cat warning was useful. :?
Well, I wake up at 1am EVERY morning, take a pain killer that doesn't kill ANY pain, but makes me sleepy. it gives me another hour or maybe 2 if I'm lucky. I have to keep my shoulders and upper body covered so it doesn't get cold, but have to keep my left foot and right leg and foot uncovered or it will get too warm and I feel as though I have hot liquid pouring inside there, and very sore skin. :x
My sister Anita bought Dad over to see us. He doesn't live far, but we forbade him to drive and now I can't walk, we can't catch the bus to visit him and as Anita was taking him to T***o anyway, she bought him over for an hour.
He'll be 86 in November. He went to my Aunty Kath's funeral a couple of weeks ago. She was his brother Bob's widow. All his brothers are no longer with us, so there's only dad and one of his sisters in law left now. He said it was nice to see all his nieces and nephews. aunty Kath's younger daughter Jill was married to Devon White, the footballer. She has five gorgeous and very tall sons.
Well, time to get off this chair and give my rubbish leg a rub down.
