Hi Joan, Kath Barbara Toni Mig Elizabeth Christine and all

Hope you are ok Joan, in growing nails are very painful, even with neuropathy. Hope it is sorted and feels better. Let's hope the x rays are ok too. We all need putting in a bag and shaking up, well, perhaps not :? We would be hurting after that.

Thank you, my hands are not too bad today, keeping up with the dermovate and they seem to be drying up and so far, no more have popped up.

That menu list is wonderful Kath. I do like fish, well, most fish. I think I will go for the mackerel to kick things off. Never had clams, wonder what they are like? I love mussels and king prawns and lobster.

Hope Daisycat is feeling ok and rested well last night, along with your good self too Toni. Not long now till the big day arrives, all being well.

Lunch out was wonderful. I was a wee bit upset today as they normally have goujons of plaice, hand battered, with homemade tartar sauce - mmmmmmmm none today :( I did have tuna pannini, with cheddar, it was lovely. Did I put too many n's in pannnninnni.

As soon as I walked in I spotted a table by the cake fridge, so I headed there asap, sticks all a kilter, lol. As you can see, there was good reason, I just had to pop them into the cafe for all to share. :D

    cake%20fridge_zps9jskuif2.jpg

I said to L, who we have known for years, "save one of those eclairs please, we need one, nay we are dependent on having one"

    cream%20eclair_zpsqwvw37zv.jpg

They were enormous, so we did share, a whole one would have been greedy :D All the deserts are home made and there is not a one I could not go face down into. We had home made vanilla ice cream, as you do :lol:

I wanted to have a try of the lemon and parsnip, it looked so good. I should have asked for a slither. Everyone said how yummy it was.

That consumed, we were off to Tesc***. their buggies must have been on rocket fuel, I was off like a demon 8) 8) Needless to say were were soon round the store and on the way home.

It is a lot warmer today than I thought it would be. Rain expected later. Having a golden moment, bit noddy so won't be long before we are all napping. Need to digest the eclair.

Take care everyone, love to all and to puskins. XXX Aidan

Aiden, thank you. My oil ducts are blocked so I use drops. Don't think the tree pollen is helping any. Glad your hands are healing. Hope it doesn't flare up. Panini. It's a bit like aneminine, anemenime, anemini, anemone. :? Oh my goodness, look at those lovely cream cakes. Mmmmm, yes please. Yours obviously set you off at a run. Must be good for you.

Joan, I've heard an ingrown toenail can be very painful. Hope the x-ray turns out ok.

Kath, thank you for the recipes. They sound so delicious but simple to do.

Barbara, my eyes are a bit better today. You're right, the pollen doesn't do them any good. Makes them very itchy. Glad you enjoyed your time with your niece.

I live in the 2nd from the end in a row of 6 houses. The fence that runs along the back gardens belongs to a house at the back, although we have to make sure it's kept in good order. About 8 years ago, the woman who lived there said she wanted a new fence and would each of us pay something towards it as we would be getting a new fence too. We agreed and the new fence was erected. A few years later, she disappeared and we heard she had never paid the fencer but kept our money. I've just learned that she had actually died. Her children went to live with the grandmother and the house was rented out.

The 'children' are now in their 20s. Yesterday, they put notes through everyone's doors saying that the fence was broken and they wanted us all to pay towards a new fence. A few of us got together to discuss it and think they want the new fence so it looks good for them to sell. None of our sections of fence are broken. The broken bit is way up the other end. One neighbour contacted the person who she thought was doing the fence and he said he'd been told a solicitor is dealing with it. My neighbour is worried we are going to be forced to pay for the new fence but I'm not worried at all. There's nothing wrong with our section of fence so there's no way we can be forced to pay for a new one.

My daughter's boots have arrived in Melbourne. Don't know yet if they fit.

Morning everyone sorry to have been AWOL yesterday....life is pretty manic here I need some help packing please :)

It's raining here too and pretty grotty :(

I have contacted the consultant's sec about Lucy's hip and the prospective professor about her shoulder - apparently he will be looking at the referral hopefully this week. Doesn't the NHS run slowly? Not that I am complaining I'm not, but she really is in pain.

I have also contacted removal firms to look at moving us. I really hope it's not too pricey as I really don't want us to do it with a Luton!

Enjoy your lunch out Barbara. :) Daisycat has been adorable since she got home and is eating really well - no dropped food so much better :)

Sorry about the cake...I needed cake!!!

Christine I wouldn't pay for the fence. Cheeky! Mind you we are unlucky here as fences all sides are our problem :( Good news at the new house there are none - only hedges :)

Any sign of the froglets I wonder?? I wonder whether they like rain :?

Mig - I don't eat meat myself, but used to love a bit of boiled bacon when I were a lass :) I hope you don't get soaked.

Joan I am glad you have an appointment at the doctor's I hope they can sort you out. I wish I could clean her teeth, but no way would I get near. Can you do the Dogs'?

OMG Aidan!!! Those cakes look fabulous  I want that one...and that one...and one of those.....

Good to hear hands are heeling up and no new erruptions :)

Daisycat is very well thanks k040.gif

Hope she does ok at her check-up.

Shame they had no goujons, but the panini sounded lovely :) YUM!

Kath - thanks for the recipes - mouthwatering they sound :)

I will have to start my little herb garden again when we move won't I?

I have been labelling the plants in the garden for the new lady. Am I silly or what

Right off to ring another removal company

Mig, please don't eat all the cakes. The soup will be lovely and tasty.

Joan, hope you have had a good day. Hope your foot isn't giving you too much pain.

Barbara, no rain here today but I've stayed in the house all day. My eyes have been a little itchy but nowhere near as bad as yesterday. Hope you enjoyed your time with your friend and your back didn't bother you too much.

Toni, pass some boxes over and I'll start filling them. So will Lucy get an appointment for next week or are they just looking at the paperwork? Hope it's not long. It's so good to hear that Daisycat is feeling much better now. Will you need to cut all the hedges then or just your side? I saw a few tadpoles yesterday but only tails as they scurried from one piece of weed to the next. I'm hoping to see their legs as they grow but haven't noticed any yet. I think it's a good idea to label the plants. Not everyone will know what they are.

Sharon, thank you for posting the link. Some very inspirational stories there. I see that Toni is looking after you. I'm not very good at cakes. My son was allergic to eggs from a year old so I very rarely made cakes.

Didn't do much today. Oh I did sort out a couple of drawers in my bedroom. Why did I keep old socks after I'd bought lots of new ones? Why were there odd socks and why did I have neck scarves I'd never worn because they aren't me? Another bag for the charity shop.

Evening Christine Mig Joan Barbara Toni Rose Sharon - who did I miss? Errr  A lot has been written so I will have to have a read back.

Christine, blocked ducts are not good and I am sure the high pollen count is not helping. I do remember having terrible hay fever and went to a homeopathic Dr, whatever it was they gave me, sorted it within weeks. I think it was pulsatilla if memory serves me right.

I would stand my ground on the fence too. Sounds like a sneaky way of getting more money out of everyone and then selling up. Huh, if they want it sorted they will have to sort the bit that is not up to par.
The boots didn't seem to take long to get to the other side of the world. I hope they fit. Everything X

Mig, I know it was naughty of me to put the pictures on, but I just could not resist. I thought they would go down very nicely in the cafe :)

The gammon sounds good, even though I am a veggie. I do remember being partial to a bit of gammon in the past. Hope the trip to the HC went ok.

Joan I hope all is as ok as possible with you and yours. Hope the foot is not too bad

I trust lunch was good Barbara and you had a nice chat with your friend. I totally understand about the walking. It always makes me laugh when they, the DWP, ask, how far can you walk before you experience any pain or discomfort. Well, I am in a deal of pain and that's before I even put one foot in front of another.

Toni, I do hope the Consultant gets back to you asap - yes, the wheels of the NHS do run slowly, far more than they used to, the sheer volume of people now - sad, very sad. Hugs to Lucy. We will all pack, I can certainly break crockery, so I am best left with non breakable items. No, not a Luton van, we did that once and never again.

I know, those cakes, again. lol. I will take a pic of the ones at the garden centre, they are just as eye watering and drool inducing.

Good to hear Daisycat is doing well. Purrs from our three........

Labelling plants it essential, OH always leaves labels in the ground, even when we know exactly what they are.

I like the T pot and Val's Cafe, very good. I did find a door mat, so we can welcome all.

    vals%20door%20mat_zpsahhn3bro.jpg

I need to sort out some clothes as well Christine, at least one bag will be filled. We sorted the socks a while ago and there were so many odd pairs - they washing machine eats them :?

Time to potter. Everyone take lots of care. N Night all, hope everyone rests as well as possible. XXX Aidan

Oh what a day it's turned out to be! It was lovely this morning too ::)

Barbara I know the lady who is moving in will appreciate the labels she loves gardening :)

I have a remover coming this evening to quote.....

On the subject of Val - we will do our best always to keep the café open :)

Joan It's good you do the doggies' teeth. If I had known I would have started Daisy's when she was a kitten. She does have 'treats' which are supposed to help though.

Aidan/Bubbles. I am glad you agree about the Luton - I cannot imagine anything more stressful!! I would say 'men', but that would have to be present company excepted of course

You can take the two bin-bags of clothes to charity. Cat's protection or a cancer one please :) I will keep you away from all crocks!!!

I'm pleased to hear you liked the Tea-pot and the sign was whipped cream too ;)

The door mat is splendid - has Sharon been back to notice our efforts??

Christine Thanks here's a couple of boxes.....can you do shoes for me please? Bin any manky ones!!

No, Lucy won't get an apt next week just accepted by the Professor and if he does accept her 'appointments' will send it out!!

Paul will have to cut the hedges and mow the grass I will potter and make a mess for him to clean up ;) The chap we're buying from says he waits until June the neighbour has 'a man' do hers then he only does this side ;)

Thanks for the reminder - that carrier bag of odd socks? GOING please Aidan!!

Afternoon one and all, from a very wet Ribble Valley. :) Suits me fine, nice and cool. I dare not ask my GP for HRT patches  he already thinks I am a creaking gate

Cakes I see Joan and one consumed, that's the way we like it. Glad you enjoyed it all. I had to share my vast Eclair. Rest up now after your physio. I will pop the kettle on. (The physio's gave up on me some years ago, I assume I was beyond redemption).

Val would have liked the mat, indeed. I still have PM's from her and I will keep them for as long as is possible. I know I was absent for a while, but I was and am, very fond of the cafe.

Sounds like you are having a day of it Toni. Hope the quote is not too eye watering. I remember when we moved to France, it cost us £5000, for one removal van. They did all the packing though as well, right down to the last knife and fork. Present company excepted and totally fine with that :D We will take the charity bags and disperse them accordingly and I think the socks will have to go in file 13.

Keeping everything crossed for an appointment for Lucy. Sending vibes to the Professor to get his team into action.

Hope everyone is as ok as possible. It is almost time for a cup of T and some shortbread. I will leave a plate out. e015.gif

Feeling a bit tired, so best a040.gif

Aiden, I've never tried homeopathy. Might have to. A bit of drizzle today and it made all the difference. I'm ignoring the note about the fence for now. The boots did fit. Thank goodness. I leave labels on plants too. I used to know the name of everything, common and latin name, but now I forget. I like the doormat.

Joan, I think it's a good idea to use your finger in a glove to clean the dogs' teeth.

Barbara, physio does sometimes leave you sore. Hope it eases by morning. Isn't it funny how the frogs still come now the pond is gone. I'm sure they appreciate the water you leave out for them.

Toni, my goodness. What a lot of shoes you have. Think I'll need more boxes. I thought Lucy wouldn't get an appointment straight away but I was hoping she would. Good for you making a mess for Paul. He'll need to be kept busy.

After work today, my boss's mum picked me up to go to her house for the usual couple of hours. When I get there, she normally tells me what she wants me to do. Today, she said she couldn't be bothered to do anything. I told her she didn't have to do it, I would. She laughed and said she couldn't be bothered so would I just mop all the downstairs floors and that was it. I wasn't to do any 'dustment'. She is Italian and comes out with some funny things.

"Dustment" e015.gif:lol::lol: I like it Christine. I will have to remember that one.

Glad the boots fit well, a relief all round.

If there are so many shoes at Toni's, then we will need extra transport. p065.gif At least we can all arrive at the same time, to help.

I found some crockery and washed up. g110.gif Not sure why I was wearing a red ribbon in my hair, I blame the weather.

Oh the dear Lordship puskins is shouting at me, yet again. g075.gif As soon as I sit down, he wants more food. He has me round his little claws. I had to laugh the other evening, I was eating supper, he was sat on my knee, I was watching the TV. Looked down and he was finishing off my mushroom en croute

Right, hugs to one and all. I had best move. I will go do some dustment. xxx Aidan

What a lovely cheery welcome mat, thank you Aiden. I think you've been following Emily round her vintage fairs. and I see you've found the bus, brilliant. :D

Joan, I think I'm a recycled teenager twice over. It won't be long until I start the third time round. My knees and ankles are worst at the moment. My left calf and foot have become swollen and my feet (both of them) feel as though they are about to burst out of my slippers. they keep saying I have sciatica, but it feels like trapped fluid to me! I suppose it's difficult to say. :(

I'm reading a wonderful book. "The Running Hare" by John Lewis Stemple. All about his experiences with a run down piece of land where he uses pre war farming methods to encourage wildlife among the crops he grows. Lovely line drawings (and the odd bit of poetry). I first heard it on the radio, as a download on the radio iPlayer.

I have 4 podcasts on the go now. As well as Home Front 1916 onwards, I have Clare Balding's Rambles, Farming Today, and iPM with Eddie Mair.

Talking of poems (which I wasn't, but no matter) I also downloaded an interview from 1955 with Dame Edith Sitwell, which fascinated me. So I also downloaded a book of her poetry. When reading about her, I discovered that her family have lived in Renishaw Hall for over 400 years. It is about 5 miles away from where Emily and Alex live. They pass it on the way to the Crystal Peak shopping centre. It's set me off yearning to be more able bodied, as I'd love to visit both Renishaw Hall and the Crystal Peak shopping Centre. What a lovely name. :D

Ecky thump, I'm cold today - and I can't even take my slipslops off. :?

    Afternoon everyone :)

Well thank you for all the help you could have blown me over when the bus pulled up for all the shoes!! and who has been doing all that 'dustment'? It looks fabulous here. If a little empty!!

Did any of the shoes fit Barbara?? I haven't labelled any pants for YEARS!!

I think I was the first person in Val's café when it opened (if not the second), but it 'went' when we had the forum crash so we can't ever read it again :(

I lost about 3,000 posts too at the time. I always wanted to know which of my posts went.....

Lovely to see you Elizabeth. Brain mush eh? Not to worry here's another cuppa for you c060.gif

Put your feet up and have a break.

The welcome mat is rather lovely isn't it Kath :) Maybe Aidan can get one for Emily too :)

Your poor foot/leg :( I think it's odd it's swollen too sciatica is pain in a nerve I thought :?

You are busy having so many podcasts and a book on the go! I struggle with a book and an audio. I am a person with a fairly small brain

Joan you are definitely a recycled teenager!! You're right cats might bit you if you tried to clean their teeth

Thank you Aidan for the washing up....saved packing them anyway :? I love your ribbon it totally suits you!!!!

We did have an awful lot of shoes didn't we? Why won't the kids ever throw anything away?

His Lordship Pusskin needs feeding - especially when Daddy wants to have 5 minutes.

Christine I am most relieved the boots fitted after all her efforts getting them :)

I think your bosses Mum sounds a proper character.

Shame Lucy's apt will take time, but it was worth ringing just incase.

Right off to the salon to rescue Lucy!

    Love to you all

Hi Kath, Joan Toni Barbara Elizabeth Mig Christine and all who gather here assembled in our calorie free cafe :)

It seems to have taken me all day to get anything done, (not that I was working to a time limit ). Just one step forward two steps back.

Joan and I like the recycled teenager, young at heart, I think most of us, if not all of us, are like that, in some way or other. Just the body that won't keep up  Hope you have had as good a day as possible, brushing teeth and the like :D

The Ribble Valley is beautiful Barbara, we feel blessed to be able to live amidst, overlooking Pendle Hill, with all the mysteries and the witch trials from 400 years ago. I am with you on the temperatures, anything over 17 - 19 and I am all aglow. We need to move to the far north of Scotland, the Isle of Skye would be just perfect. Maybe, when we win the lottery. ( I won't be holding my breath).

Steady away with the exercises, not all suit everyone. I remember one specialist Physio asking me to to one and I nearly collapsed in pain. He said, we won't do that one again _OH REALLY. I almost lamped him. :x Another time I was given a neck exercise to try and I fell onto the couch. I digress. Hope things ease for you. Take care.

It took me a while to find the bus Kath, where it had been hiding I don't know, but it was a long search. Anyway, it is back out of the garage and ready for the summer. I know it is full of shoes, with Barbara trying them all on in the back.
I will have to look for a similar mat. Leave it with me :)
Sorry that your feet are giving you such trouble. Sciatica tends to start in your lower back and then kind of works its way down your leg / legs. Keep an eye and if you are not happy, see the Dr or Practice Nurse. Loss of mobility can lead to swollen feet and lower legs, it's all a vicious circle.

All the books and pod casts on the go, you are doing very well. I cannot concentrate for five minutes if I try and read and I used to love a good book. I love the name Crystal Peak Shopping Centre.

Elizabeth I will bring you extra T as and when you need it. Cuddles is about somewhere and would welcome a lap to sit on. Mush and brains, oh yes, I can sympathise with you. I see Toni has brought you more T as well, better make sure the loo's are nice and clean

A nice surprise then Toni, when the old bus arrived. If only we could get Barbara out of what has become a shoe shop :lol:

It will be all go now, I am excited and feel like we are all on the move........Itchy feet time.

Guess who is howling from the kitchen door. Yes, you guessed it. I did try and clean their teeth once, with liver flavoured toothpaste (sorry, heaving a little at the thought), but it was a no go, sharp teeth and many claws where out.

Better move, potter, and finish dustments. LOL

    Everyone take care XXXX Aidan

Good morning Aidan, Good morning everybody!

That sounds like what we used to say at Primary school :)

    Right the loo....

    e010.gif

Should be perfect for Elizabeth now it's fair sparkling!!

Now the thing was with the shoes....3 girls....imagine the number of shoes.....a cat crossed the road in front of the bus, so of course Aidan had to brake sharply. The shoes all flew from the back to the front and back again. Hence Barbara is still pairing them as well as trying them on

Now who is trying on the clothes going to charity??

This morning I have annoyed Daisycat, not by cleaning her teeth with liver-flavoured, ( ), toothpaste, but by popping on the advantage drops to the back of her neck. I checked the calendar and she was due :?

    See you all later

    Love
