Afternoon to one and all, sunny yet again. Bearable, fresher air, says me about to attempt to kick the tumble dryer into action.
Everyone seems to have similar problems with sleeping, waking and generally being out of sorts in bed. It is part and parcel of the whole arthritis / pain / fybro etc and what a bind it is too.
Now you will be fretting again if Lucy is out and about in town Toni. Early morning texts.
Hope sleep is a little easier, at some point in the day. I guess it doesn't really matter if you nap in the day, I try to, sometimes I am away in no time, then others I just watch the clock.
You need warning cones at your employees house Christine, men at work, traffic lights.
A s h iny new Mark's food hall, very nice. Look out for the super greens soup, it is v nice, just looking at it makes you feel healthy
The dryer is behaving as if nothing is, or has been the matter with it.
Hope the fundraising goes well, a worthy cause indeed.
It was cooler last night Barbara, we had a frost here. Sweltering last week end, then frost, it's all bonkers. I was a bit chilly but I refused to put the heating on. I would much rather get warm, than try and get cool.
I saw the Queen with her Tesco voucher, I think HRH should pop down to the local Tesco and gather a few bits
Hope family visiting went well Kath, Dad is a very good age. We said to Dad that he could not drive, which he didn't mind really, I think it was such a struggle to get in and out of the car.
Good that he was able to catch up with family, despite the event being a sad occasion. It is often the case, Weddings and Funerals are the time you do catch up with relatives, who have long since moved away etc.
Hope you are ok Joan and the ants are getting the heave ho.
Mig I hope you manage to rest tonight, or this afternoon. Any time can be nap time.
Right, the dryer has stopped, long before its due time..............grrrrrr, so I will go punch it.
Everyone take care, XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Aidan I am pleased (oddly) to hear the dryer stopped early - see it isn't right
Oh yes another sleepless night for me I fear
Got some of the supergreens soup from Marks and some lovely soup for myself and Paul....Lucy has had a 9 chicken-nugget meal from MaccyD's
I think we do all struggle with sleep yes - part and parcel as you say of our multiple conditions
Joan we have sunshine here and not too hot I hope it's ok with you Sue and the doggies
The fundraiser went very well. I bought loads!! Matt's Mum and I bawled for ages and ages  First time we have got together since he died. She want to visit the QE with me so I said I will let her know when I am next going or we can go any Monday.
Ah Kath I often think pain relief distances me from pain, but if it allows you some extra much-needed sleep it helps a bit.
Hope your poor foot feels better after the dip :splash:
I am so pleased your Dad visited you I think he is doing great at 86
Barbara - it's good to hear the black cat next door who lost weight is much better after his dental treatment.
Lucy will be occupied tonight out with the girls from the salon.
Tomorrow night she will have Daisycat to look after as there's nothing to eat after 6pm.
Well all I can say is if Niamh is on the autistic spectrum its the aspergers end how funny drawing a beard on her Daddy!!
Rightho onwards and upwards
Love to you all

Evening all..sunny but cool ..my neighbour says it must be me she thinks its hot..
Toni sorry I think I wrote you were going to see your MIL instead of Matts mum..bless her I can only imagine the pain..hopefully the fund raising will help in its own way...just a warning it cost them nearly £200 to have the 2 teeth taken out..suppose its the anesthetic they give him...hope it goes well..
Aiden Im glad somone else felt the cold last night..like you say nice to get warm..that dryer is having you on.. I buy the green superfood crayfish salad with noodles and beans..the stopped selling it in out littlw M&* so have to look for it..will have a look for the soup
Kath your poor legs they must drive you mad..it must be hard trying to keep them cool..glad to see your dad is coming to visit..nice of your sister..he is doing well for 86..mind you that would be the new 70..only one of our family have lived past 65...my aunty and she was 69..I am 66 on Monday...
My I am getting all maudlin....
Love to everyone xxxxxLove

Barbara I do exactly the same. My Dad was 66 and Mum just 70 so I worry extra too, but remember...we eat much better don't we? Less dripping more salad? Apart from post hip operations of course, we move more too....my Mum did very little exercise.
They drank more too maybe?
You can and in fact will be the one who breaks the mould I will too for my girls
I have an 'estimate' for Daisycat's op.....it's just over £200  a bit of a worry eh?
Paul came with me though and the consultation Friday was £38. He is ready for whatever happens I think.
My biggest worry is the starvation bit before the op. From 6pm tonight she said.... :?
Does that include water do you think? I thought she said nothing to eat or drink, but Paul is querying it....????

Mig, how annoying thinking you'd been asleep for long enough. Hope you managed to get back to sleep again. Sorry you have lost your neighbour. You must be a close bunch and will miss her.
Aiden, not sure I'd like to take a cat, who didn't want to go, to the vet. I've seen what they can do on tv. I no longer have a clock in my bedroom. If I wake up and think it might be time to get up, I have a quick look at my Hudl. It means I can't keep glancing at the clock if I'm tossing and turning. Don't be hard on yourself for not sleeping. I think we often try too hard. Try concentrating on your breathing. Every time a thought pops in to your head, acknowledge it's there then let it float back out again. Hope the green soup tasted better than the bottom of my pond looks. Warning cones and traffic lights sound a good idea. Might suggest it. Hope you came off best in the fight with the dryer.
Toni, hope you did manage some sleep while Lucy was out. Did she enjoy her night and her chicken nuggets? Glad the fundraiser went well and hope they raised lots of money. It must have been quite emotional for you and Matt's mum. Hope Daisycat is ok with nothing to eat and that all goes well tomorrow. I'd imagine she would be ok with water but best check. £300? Yikes but I know you'd pay anything to make her better.
Joan, have you tried concentrating on your breathing, like I was saying to Aiden. As thoughts come in to your mind, just glance at them then let them go again. Takes a bit of practice but I find it helps. My sister found people avoided her when she lost 2 children because they didn't know what to say. She said that was the worst thing they could do. She'd rather they had just said sorry and given her a hug.
Barbara, I don't fancy a deep trolley. I'd probably fall in. I think mine's a suitcase trolley. Just the bottom bit with a handle if you know what I mean. I put a shopping bag on it and fasten it on with a bungie rope. Oops, Niamh won't have realised what she was doing. Maybe she thinks dad will look good with a beard. Hope he managed to get a new one ok. Good idea to have a child's meal and a pud. Don't forget, as time goes on, people live longer so you'll likely have a good few years yet.
Kath, I find paracetamol helps me sleep. Wonder if there's something in it. I thought it was because it took away most of the pain but not sure it's that if you still have the pain. I find everything gets hot. Must be difficult having hot and cold. Glad you got to see your dad. Sounds as if he was happy to see everyone too. My sister took my dad's car keys off him a couple of years ago. He still says sometimes he'd like to get another car.
Just seen a post on FB. A woman was taking her dog for a walk in our park, round the corner from my house, and past the kid's play area. Someone has been in and pulled up most of the special soft flooring and smashed glass all over. It looks a terrible mess so the kids won't be able to play there for a good while. I don't understand why someone would do that. Well this morning I have cleaned out a cupboard and moved a set of casserole dishes to the porch to add to the ever growing pile of things for charity. (Must remember to ring them tomorrow to come and collect them.) And ended up with hard boiled eggs because I decided to clean the fridge too.Christine0 -
Hi Christine
Oh yes people don't know what to say. Sadly I have too much experience now as Lucy and I have seen 14 youngsters die since her treatment started. I am very lucky and it makes me feel a little guilty though the other Mums say I mustn't.
We had the green soup too and it was lovely Paul wanted to know whether I had added the grass cuttings to it though :?
Lucy ate all the nuggets and had a great night out too Apparently she pulled!! Let's see whether she decided to keep this one eh?
Mmmm...I slept on at off the text came through at 4.20am In bed and a load of kisses!
Well done for adding to the charity pile there it will be appreciated
I did see the elderly Pusskin Barbara! I hope Daisycat gets there. We will break the mould yes - I know what you mean of course every birthday you will (and I will when I get closer to their ages), feel a bit scared and feel your own mortality too.
Hope the carboot was good and you got some bargains
Oh no Joan that poor lady. Not only missing her OH, but people avoiding her. We are rubbish at dealing with death aren't we?
Thank you I have removed Daisycat's bowls and left a smidge of water, but only a tiny smidge. Luckily she has to be in for 9.10 tomorrow.
Mig I will be thinking of you tomorrow and of the lady's family too I think it's lovely that you have seen each other's families grow up ((())).
Hope our Matron Aidan is well today and not too hot.
Also that the naughty dryer is behaving. Maybe we can try some 'potion' on it when it's festered long enough0 -
Oh Toni, it is so sad to lose so many but you absolutely should not feel guilty at all. (((hugs))) Oops, I've just put my grass cuttings in the compost bin. Better get them back out again for the soup. Not surprised Lucy pulled. She can have her pick. Just popped in to tell you there was a lot of wriggling in the pond this afternoon. The taddies are getting quite big now. I scooped out some of the weed plus fallen leaves and flowers. Scooped up a few tadpoles and found they are very good at wriggling back in to the water while I held the net upside down for them. I did take a few photos but couldn't actually see them in the picture. Now watching the Queen's birthday celebrations and wondering what she's thinking.Christine0

Evening to all. Hope everyone is as ok as possible.
I will write more, but at the moment I have pompholyx again. It is a good long while since it last appeared. Lots of little blisters on my hands, then the skin splits - a right annoyance. Hopefully it will clear up asap, I will apply every cream, ointment and lotion in my possession, (and that's a lot)
Just a little time out while the blighter's are sorted.
Everyone take care. Will be thinking about you today Mig, at the funeral of your lovely neighbour. OH Uncle passed away yesterday, he had been very ill, bless him. Also thinking of Daisycat. Hugs all round. XX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Oooh Aidan Bless you I hope the hands sort out very soon. That happened to me once many years ago in Devon at Haven. The DR there sorted me out, but I was very uncomfortable while it lasted.
Don't worry about us too much just lather the hands up - oh and don't follow the instruction on the cream which says "Wash hands after use"
Christine The ickle taddies are growing fast - I expect this weather has been ideal for them. Plenty of weed growth to chomp on and hide in
Poor Daisycat thinks I don't love her because I haven't fed her
She doesn't realise I haven't fed her because I love her.
Will be catching her any second now......
Love

Hi Joan
I've just got off the phone from the vets. Daisycat is all done and dusted, but was the last op of the day so I can't pick her up until 5.40 and the vet wants a word anyway.
Thank you
I can't wait to cuddle her - gently
Is it Barbara's birthday??
Kath - the house looks great there doesn't it?0 -
In between dermovate, diprobase and betamethasone valerate I wanted to say good to hear that Daisycat has had her op and is ok, been thinking about you and puskins, Toni.
Barbara, Birthday  well, it must be party time and extra cakes all round. I will gather some flutes for champagne.
Mig, hope today went as well as such occasions can do.
Kath the fairy houses look lovely at Emily's - everything growing well
Hope you are ok Joan, I am sure my hands will be ok soon. Two splits are healing, now another blister is up. It is like the advert when he knocks weeds down, another one pops up., lol.
Take care everyone XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Afternoon Aidan I am very pleased to hear some of the little blisters are going down even though some are popping up as well.
Daisycat is ok Thank you
I have been a nervous wreck all day and used nervous energy packing!!!
Mind you I won't be happy till the vet says what she wants and she's home here in my arms!!
AS For Barbara's Birthday knees up...
I have brought along cooking sherry (for me ) as well as some champagne with it being her 21st and all.....0 -

Aiden champagne will go done nicely..oh sorry you are suffering with your hands I have never heard of pompholyx..hope it eases for you soon...oops sorry I see you was supplying the flutes..ok then I will get the champers
Kath I love the fairy houses..what a lovely pic..we got the idea from you to make a little sort of nest at the top of the garden and put little feathers in from the fairy wings..the baby keeps going to look ..so we put little treats in now..
Joan yes I had a lovely day thankyou..the carboot wasn't on would you believe..just spotted you there Toni..cooking sherry is fine,,,
Christine how horrible are some people to do that to a park ..they seem to enjoy it...hopefully one day they will grow up..I am going to try the breathing technique..trouble is with me I dont have an imagination...I once went to be hypnotized and that didnt work... hope the painter has cleared up at work..
Well feet up its tiring being 66

WOW Aiden..that is brilliant...think it will keep us all going for a couple of days.. this is me at the min and I feel sick... how are your hands doing...and how does this weather suit you its freezing here..you couldn't make it up
I hope Toni can call in and tell us how Daisycat is..Love
Barbara0 -
Chomp chomp chomp
By the heck that cake is more-ish...think there's about enough left, now after Barbara and I had some, for the rest of us
You're a good-un Aidan
Barbara - it's lovely so many of the GDs have been to see you - testament to your parenting and Grannying
Neivius eh? That rather suits her!!!
Daisycat is home safe and sound and eaten a whole sachet of felix 'as good as it looks'
She has purred like a thunder-puss and rubbed her cheek on everything she saw. I think she thought she might never be home again bless her.
Right the vet is a tiny bit worried that Daisy might have something called feline stomatitis. It's autoimmune and the body reacts to plaque. We will know at her check-up next Monday and there is treatment, steroids, anti-inflams or even removal of all teeth if needs be.
Hopefully all will be well for her. She is one happy pusskin tonight that's for sure and I am a very happy cat-Mum
Slurp slurp slurp.....glug glug glug.....
hic...
happy birthday Barbara!!!0 -
Just a quick one tonight as my eyes are a bit blurry.
A big happy birthday to Barbara. Hope you've had a lovely day with your GDs and all the flowers and lunch.
Good to hear Daisycat is home and eating ok. Hope it's good news on Monday.
Aiden, I hope your hands feel better quickly. Is there any cake left? Good find.
Kath, the steps look lovely with the plants and ornaments. Hope the fairies are keeping well.
Joan, Hope you have had a good day too. Have you been watching the programme about How to Choose the Right Puppy?Christine0 -
I am sure there is some cake left - it was a good find, imagine using a high rise truck, to get the layers on top. I am sure it will last us all week Hope you eyes feel better soon. I am forever putting gel tears in mine to ease the dryness
Glad you have had a good day with GD visits, lunch, flowers and lots of cake, maybe too much lol. No, forget that, you can never have enough cake, it is calorie free, as soon as you cut it, the calories fall out.
Good news on Daisycat Toni, now you can relax and enjoy lots of fussing and purring, no, not you, Daisycat, Let's hope that it is not stomatitis and if it is, they can treat it.
Hands will be ok, two of the splits are healing quickly, another two blisters popped up, keeping them well coated in dermovate and hopefully they will clear up as soon as they came. Walking with crutches doesn't really help them I must say. Pompholyx is quite common, a type of dermatitis, it can really flare up in a bad way, needing antibiotics etc.
We are out for lunch today (we did have coffee and scones on Monday which was very nice), no doubt we will end up in the big Tes***, it is the only one we really don't mind, lots of room, loads of things to nosey at and buggies that work
It has been cooler which has been wonderful, in fact, I put the heating on for an hour this evening. :? Last week I was a pool. No wonder we never know where we are.
Time for a potter and feed the pus cat food monster. He is looking at me, I can tell.
Take care everyone. N Night XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Summer Food
Eggs with asparagus
Simmer eggs gently for six minutes, run under cold water until cool, then peel. Serve over steamed asparagus.
Herby pasta
Toss a couple of handfuls of fresh chopped herbs with a few tbs of olive oil in a hot pan. Serve over angel-hair pasta (capellini, a very fine spaghetti), diluting the sauce if necessary with pasta cooking water.
Scallop ceviche with lime
Cut eight raw scallops into four horizontal slices each. Sprinkle with lime juice, salt and crushed chillies; serve after five minutes.
Prawns with white beans
Open a tin of white beans and combine with olive oil, salt, prawns, minced garlic and thyme leaves in a pan. Cook, stirring, until the prawns are done; garnish with more olive oil.
Mussels with basil and tomato
Put 1.4 kilos of washed mussels in a deep pan with 250ml white wine, garlic cloves, basil leaves and chopped tomatoes. Steam until mussels open - just a few minutes.
Sole on bread
Heat 1 cm of olive oil in a pan. Dip sole fillets in flour and fry until crisp, about 2 minutes a side. Serve on bread with tartare sauce.
Clams with garlic
Put a few dozen washed clams in a large, hot frying pan with olive oil. When the clams begin to open, add a tbs or 2 of chopped garlic. When most or all are opened, add some chopped parsley. Serve alone, with bread or over angel-hair pasta.
Steak and salad
Pan-fry a steak for three or four minutes on each side. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, slice and serve on romaine lettuce, drizzled with olive oil and lemon.
Baked mackerel
Smear fresh mackerel fillets with mustard, sprinkle with chopped herbs (fresh tarragon is good), seasoning and breadcrumbs. Bake for eight minutes at 220C/gas 7.
Paprika prawns
Warm olive oil in a pan with at least three cloves of sliced garlic. When the garlic colours, add at least a tsp each of cumin and paprika. A minute later, add a dozen or so prawns, salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley.
Oh no Joan, there's nothing good about sore toes. Hope your appointment goes well.
Love to everyone, especially all puss cats."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein
