Wow Aiden, you have done well getting the council to do things. Don't know if they have paid any attention to the pavement parking complaints but they have told me they will have a look at some hedges which have grown right to the edge of the pavement. Last year they did trim one but people still needed to walk on the kerb stone so I've asked that it is cut back to where it started off. What this space. I think my MP says 'Oh no. Not her again.' Sometimes he says he's already on it, sometimes he says he doesn't agree. I don't like him when he says that. That was lovely of your oh to cut back the neighbour's bush. Wouldn't it be lovely if everyone was like that? The roses look beautiful. I have a yellow one that my mum's sisters gave me to remember her by. It's looking very straggly at the moment. Just wondering if I forgot to cut it back last year.

Toni, I had to giggle yesterday. I moved a piece of ornamental grass aside at the pond so I could pull out a weed and heard a little plop. Didn't quite see what it was but I'm sure it was a froglet jumping in the water. I have lots of slugs and snails so I'm thinking of keeping the cucumbers in the porch and popping them outside while I'm at home during the day. The grow boxes sound like a good idea. I've often gone on holiday and hoped someone had been round to water. Somehow I don't think they did. You definitely need to take your clover with you. Don't leave it for them. When my daughter moved, all she wanted to take was a palm tree. It didn't survive and she hadn't taken in that there were palm trees all over the new garden anyway.

Joan, hope it's not been too hot or too cold for you this weekend.

Kath, hope your delivery turned up. I'll send some of my frogs down for you. I'm sure I'll have plenty. My sister lives in a narrow street too so some cars park on the pavement. It's the ones who do it and have empty drives that get my back up. Having the pain on the other side isn't really any better. Have you got it on both sides now? Hope it eases. I think I'll try the 5 spice turkey wraps and the mocha phyllo cups please.

I've been to my son's village today for the scarecrow festival. The green is at the front of my son's house and anyone in the village can set up a bbq or have a picnic. The kids play with each other in the middle. It's a good day although it got a bit chilly after a while and then it started raining just before teatime. Didn't get to see many of the scarecrows but they all put a lot of effort in.

I found a picture of a couple of cats I thought you might like.

:lol: I love the picture of the cats. we have two liquid and one solid pus cat :?

I think my MP thinks the same, I have so many letters from Westminster and his local office. To be fair he has been on side with everything I have had thoughts and concerns about.

It must be scarecrow season, the next village had its annual duck race and scarecrow festival. We came back that way from town and it was packed, all the pubs were full to bursting, everyone sat out, BBQ, it was all going on. g080.gif

Kath, hope the pain has eased for you. I will get the lavender pats out, I am sure there are some lurking about, unless they went in Migs Halloween brew. Back pain is just horrid.

Time for more feeding of pus cats, he is howling the house down and has just had two meals....................

Final day of the big packing push - tomorrow is moving date!!

    Aidan
It's best-kept village season and the one we are moving to is 'in it' too.

The other Friday I drove through and there was one about 2 doors down another smaller one facing the bush looking like it was gardening. Only that one was a real lady

We have one solid cat no liquid ones ATM, but have had in the past :)

Thanks for the scones - lovely :)

Christine The froglets are getting adventurous now aren't they? :D

Yes the cucumbers might need a little TLC - it's at night they chomp them up. I was so upset when it happened to me because I had named my plants  The watering grow bag thingies are hoselock.

Years ago (too many!) I worked in Birmingham and the council put in dropped kerbs on this road and all the residents were obliged form a certain date to park off the road/paths. I think it's especially wrong when they have drives

I am not mowing the grass here, (though we visited our house to be yesterday and they've done ours!!), because they don't deserve it!

    Hmmmph!!

My friend is coming this morning to help me some more she is a cleaner.

    Love

There was a car parked on the pavement outside our house yesterday-the lady 2 down had visitors and waved at us as we arrived home. Her Neighbour(3 from us) is blind! Honestly you'd think they'd know better.

Toni I'll be on the bus tomorrow to help you with moving house. Hope Daisycat doesn't run off.

Happy Fathers day to our male cafe dwellers. We went on the Great Global Greyhound walk then had a meal at FIL house.

Me, I'm seething :x :x :x Sat up well past our bedtime, no parcel. This morning got a message saying it had been delivered. :? Checked the tracker which said it was in my grubby little mitt. No it was not. So after a search of the website I found a page where I could get a real live person to ring me. After a chat, he discovered that the courier had scanned it in error, and it was still on the road!He is going to ring again when he has checked with the carrier, to let me know if it will arrive today. So much for guaranteed next day delivery. Watch this space.

No Joan, no scan result yet (not my week is it) Might get it next week but not holding my breath. But spoke to my doc earlier, she is increasing my patches to 50 mcg. I also got a letter off my rheumy to cancel my October appointment and bringing it forward to August. OK, maybe things aren't too bad after all. :D

Christine, love the cat photo, and Aiden, superdooper scones. :P .

Glad the barbie went down well.

Afternoon to one and all. Hope everyone is as ok as possible and the rain has dried up.
Toni, you will feel like you are walking in treacle for a few days, don't worry, we are all gathered, bus is ready and we will be there. Good of your friend to come over to help, more hands make lighter work There is a bed on the bus, just in case anyone comes over all sleepy.

Cucumbers, no experience of growing them, I know my mum and dad used to grow them in their greenhouse, every time we went over we had a bag full - (never did like cucumber). I am sure the slugs and snails will be out in force with all the rain.

We had a BIG frog on the gravel path out back, this morning. He was so well camouflaged. OH was going to nip and photo him, then he vanished, the frog, not my OH.:lol: He must live under the decking somewhere, damp and dark, a bit like under the stairs in the cafe and no, he is not going in the potion.

Just reading our Parish magazine and we are 5th out of 12 of the top villages in Lancashire, which is not bad. They want to get to 1st again this year.

Kath I am sure you are furious with the delivery, I think sometimes, these big companies, get too big for their boots and one hand does not know what the other is doing, despite their logistics and super computers. I hope the parcel arrives asap. I hope the pain relief increase, helps as much as it can and good that your appointment has been brought forward. Hugs

Thank you for the happy Fathers Day, even though I am only a daddy to the pus cats. Well, they are family. We will pick you up in the morning Elizabeth, no sneaking off to the bedroom on the bus.

Joan, hope you had a good trip out with the doggies. All our appliances are working at the moment, you would not believe it. Anyway, I am saying nothing, B Ga* can come and check the boiler and I will wait for a new dryer.

Right, talking of drying, I think it has heard me and has stopped mid cycle. grrrrrrrrrrr It is like Wishy Washy's laundry in the kitchen - everything that can be washed is being washed :D

parcel blues Kath-it can be such a pain.

Its like a Chinese laundry here too Aidan. I need to hang 2 loads out but I'm feeling tired after the usual morning rush around-not easy when your hip is agony.

Dan has gone to respite with his spare bag and his Cheerio cereal packets (they haven'y given him brekky for the last 2 respites-apparently due to the transport arriving too early).

So I'm free to give Toni a hand with her moving. I'm feeling nervous as it is such a palavar! Hope Daisycat behaves. Yep I might sneak off for a nap Aidan so you'll know where to find me.

Right off to do some H/W amongst other thins.

The saga of the parcel has come to an end. We cancelled it.

Joan, my results are still at the clinic where I had the scan. The patches make me itch a bit, but they make me very tired. :too-hot: All my joints hurt, and breathing is a bit iffy.

Glad you had a lovely time away Barbara, I have heard so many good reports of Llandudno being a beautiful place. Don't worry about the net, or lack of it........It must the lie on the land.

Kath, sorry to hear about your painful joints. It won't do any harm to rest a while and let the patches help as much as they can. Sending hugs and hope things ease for you. This humid weather is not great for those of us with breathing problems. I can stand warm weather, but high humidity and I am done for.

Hope the froggies are doing well Christine, they will be hopping all over before you know it.

Now, did we manage to help with the move, it seems a hectic day and then some and I suspect a very hurty shoulder.........from doing just a wee bit too much. I think I managed to gather everyone onto the bus, not a great deal of room with all the things loaded on board.
Sending abundant well wishes for you in your new home :splash: it's all so exciting as well as being knac*****, oh, I said a rude word  d029.gif a million and one things that you want done yesterday.

Try and take a little time to g105.gif relax and look at boxes :?

Hope everyone manages to find their way back onto the bus, it is on autopilot for the journey back to the cafe, everyone is in various states of sleepiness. b030.gif Take care all, XXXX Aidan

Can't stop football is on...Hungary so I'm sure Toni will let me off.

It was hectic packing those boxes for Toni. Did you find the kettle Toni? Just as well the bus was on auto pilot.

sorry you are struggling Kath plus itching and tiredness-I know all about that. Rest up if you can. Everything seems to happen at once so you must be fed up. My tiredess and itching has eased but I'm sure they go hand in had.

Glad you enjoyed your hols Barbara. A few days away from the internet is fine. I managed a week when we were in Cornwall.

Joan I really hope they don't stop the ring and ride.
Dan is not back yet so I don't know if he had time for breakfast. The school and social worker weren't happy that he was sent to school twice without breakfast. They all said the transport should wait if the children are't ready but I guess you can't keep the children waiting around too long. He is due home soon.

Jack had his final exams today- I have no idea if he has enough for his uni place. Its a waiting game now.

    must go football beckons.

Toni, hope all went well with the move and you are resting a bit now. The boxes will wait. As long as you have the essentials sorted. Haven't seen the froglets for a couple of days so not sure if they've moved home too. have you got them?

Kath, it serves them right that you cancelled the parcel. Hope you manage to get it from somewhere else if you really want it. Sorry you are still in pain and your breathing isn't right. (((hugs)))

Barbara, glad you had a good time. Hope you fell better for it. I've only been to Llandudno once a long time ago. Can't remember what it was like but it sounds lovely. If you do want to report anything to the council eg. parking, overgrown hedges, street lights which are out etc, you can do it through Fix My Street. I always tick the box which lets you be anonymous just in case anyone gets upset with me.

Aiden, I've not seen any frogs for a couple of days so not sure if they saw me coming and hid or if they've left home already. Your big frog was probably watching from somewhere. Just as well the bus was on auto pilot. Don't think anyone was fit for driving after the move.

Joan, that will be awful if they stop the dial and ride. They shouldn't stop these things that a lot of people rely on. My eyes are still a bit blurry. Don't know if they'll ever be any better than that. I've got hearing in my right ear now and just a minute ago, just for a few seconds, I could hear a little better in my left ear so maybe getting somewhere now. I'm seeing my GP on Monday though as the buzzing is much worse.

Elizabeth, I hope Dan did manage to have his breakfast. Hope Jack's exams went well. Enjoy the football.

It's looked as if it's going to rain most of the time for the last few days but has been warm with the sun coming out now and again. I ordered an attachment for my garden hose to turn it in to a power jet. It is about a foot and a half long and the thickness of a hosepipe. I ordered it online and collected it from T*sc*. When I picked it up, it was in a box 2 feet long, 16 inches wide and 10 inches high. The box was filled with scrunched up paper, 90 feet of it. Yes, 90 feet. What on earth am I supposed to do with that. It's in a big heap on the floor. There's too much to go in the paper recycle bin. Crazy packaging. Wish now I'd unpacked it at T*sc* and let them deal with it. Would have been much easier for me to put it in my bag to carry home.

A late and very warm evening to one and all.

Well, the move seems to have put us all in a state of exhaustion. Not least you Toni and family. I do hope you are all ok, shoulders suitably tended. When you start unpacking, you realise, why did we keep this, that, etc. We say it every day and are forever de cluttering.
Daisycat ok? paws buttered and exploring her new home.

It is equally muggy here too Barbara, there was quite a nice breeze this afternoon with windows open and air blowing through. Now it is flat calm and alive with midges outside. Was having a brief chat with neighbour earlier, taking in the air, with a ciggy, (how does that work I ask myself). We were eaten alive by midges and biting things.

I am so glad you enjoyed your break, our friends live on the little orme side, facing straight out to sea, lovely...............sigh.........

It is terrible that things like dial a ride are facing cutbacks - I agree Barbara, it is often those with disabilities that are faced with the first of the cuts - very wrong. Hope you are ok Joan and have managed to get out and about in some good weather. I know you like it warm, as it eases the pains.

I hope you enjoyed the football Elizabeth, our neighbour keeps telling us what is going on. I imagine the school etc where not best pleased about Dan missing breakfast - would the school not supply something like those breakfast bars, in case things like that happen?
It is a waiting game for exam results, I vaguely remember it from many moons ago. Hopefully he will have done well and go on to Uni, with flying colours.

Christine, are you still hidden under a mountain of paper packing? What a complete waste. 90 feet of it oh my goodness.

I hope your hearing continues to improve. The buzzing, is it like tinnitus, or more like the sound of the seashore. I have tinnitus, from 20 years of taking aspirin. It is horrid when you have a noise in your ears that you cannot get rid of, it really is. Very wearing.

I am forever on fix my street, when I look at the map of my previous reports, it is like join the dots, :? dozens of them..........mind you, it works.

Kath I hope you are resting and that the pain has eased for you. Take lots of care.

There you are Mig, we thought you were still on the bus. Sorry to hear that your joints are shouting and your cough is really bothersome. Let's trust they can ease that for you at the resp clinic.

well, the gas man came and mended the boiler, adjusted the pressure in the expansion tank - right said I, not having a clue. Give me a patient to look after and I am fine, talk to me about boilers and I am clueless. Anyway, I made T. Off he went, pressure all back to normal.
I looked at the gauge about half an hour later and it was way up into the red !! :o  I thought, this is not right - I remembered the adjusting screw, he had left it not quite closed, so the pressure just slowly crept up.
Phones B gas, said, J who has just been to increase the pressure, well, it is nearly off the scale now. She phoned him and he rang and I said that it had settled at 3 bars. He came back today and reduced the pressure back to normal.

The dryer is still being dramatic and pleasing itself. Phoned the insurers about a replacement - they are now waiting to hear if there are any other parts that they can replace. I said I want a new dryer, not parts :x :x They said "we will get back to you" oh yes, I have heard that before.............................

All that aside, coffee and scones where lovely this morning, nice and quiet and relaxed at the garden centre. Could have sat there all day.........well, maybe not, I couldn't move when we were getting up to leave........damned joints and back.

Better move, or I will be chair shaped again. Take lots of care everyone. Keep cool, or warm, whichever helps most. XXX Aidan

Hi Joan, Barbara, Mig, Toni, Christine, Elizabeth and all..................

Duly been out to vote and then went to the tip, to throw all the ancient garden furniture away :D We will see what the nation decides...........

A warm, well, hot day here. What weather has been going on in London, floods, lightning storms, funnel clouds, it's all happening. :o

Hope you have a good day Joan, out with the doggies. Glad they came and sorted out the bins.

Barbara - hopefully it is not too warm for you today. I am just about ok at the moment, with windows open and breeze coming through, (along with flies). The first wasp to come in and I will be a big screeching nelly, shouting for OH.

The lawn has been cut, looking very nice, ready now for the rain tomorrow. Looks like it is going to be a cooler week, so that's me a happy bunny. No coffee trips out today, I had to suffer with the dolce gusto machine, lol. Tomorrow, yes, more people watching, if I can take my eyes off the scones.

Right, I will watch a bit more tennis (we are tennis addicts, watch it all year through, every tournament on the ATP and some WTA).

Where's me blummin post? Good job it wasn't long!! Had the nurse out last night. Cellulitis back. Taking Flucloxicillin 500mg with Penicillin 250 x2 for 10 days. Tried to get an earlier appointment with rheumy, but there isn't one! That was the gist of it.

    Glad Toni's move was successful.

    :splash:
