Joan, I'm not keen on liver. Used to have it once a week as a child. Found it very difficult to eat.
Barbara, it's been threatening to rain all day here but only had a few spots. Sounds as if you got it all. I'm going to watch all the lessons again and take notes. They said I didn't need to but I think it will help it sink in. I did think about a car boot sale but I'd never get there on time. At least Niamh carried on with the race and finished it. Well done Niamh. My niece gets tonsillitis a lot. Her tonsils were enlarged from a very young age but they wouldn't remove them. Hope your GD feels better soon.
Aiden, I've heard about listening to things while you sleep. I've not tried it either. It's ridiculous the amount of packaging that's used these days, even after they are supposed to be cutting down. My normal bin only goes out no more than once a fortnight with 2 small bags in it but my recycle bin is stuffed full once a fortnight. Don't know if I could have resisted those cakes even if I was full. We definitely need cake to celebrate the 1000th page.
Mod John, don't worry about your diet. Here in the cafe, everything is calorie free. Here's a cuppa to go with your slice of cake.
Just had some very sad news. One of my granddog's passed away this afternoon. My son said they have no idea why. She'd been her normal self till this afternoon then she started breathing heavily and that was that. It happened very quickly. She was only 8 years old and I was looking forward to having her for a fortnight while my son and his wife and the kids went on holiday.Christine0 -
Oooh, don't worry about cakes and calories in here Mod John, as Christine says, there are no calories, no fats, sugars etc, but all the taste you can imagine. Same with the coffee, as much as you like and no jitters.
Sorry to hear about your sad news Christine, How sad that gdoggie passed away so suddenly. As you say 8 is not a big age really. A small consolation is that she was at home, with everyone who loved her, rather than at the vets. Ah, I could very easily bawl my eyes out. Our pus cats are really getting way into old age. Our eldest is 17, then one 15 and one 14. They are so much part of the family and so pampered.
I thought I was being very good resisting the cheesecake, but we had some tonight, after supper.
We did a couple of car boot sales a long time ago and it was mania, people were diving into boots of cars, all in a frenzy. I hated it, every minute. Never again. I certainly could not be up and out at 0630 to grab a "bargain".
I think is it called subliminal learning, while you are asleep. I would lie awake listening to it and totally defeat the object.
Is it me or has it gone warm? Having one of my hot do's. I might go stand by the back door, it is very clear tonight. We like to watch the bats flying around.
N Night to one and all. Take care, rest well. XX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Good morning everyone!
Good job Tia is here I have my first dead mouse in the sun room :?
Have put a large bowl over t until she gets up
Mod John - Eat away the cakes are totally calorie free as Aidan said and financially free too
Aidan that cheesecake   Wow!!! I would also have had some after supper (maybe instead of supper too )
Paul used to enjoy car boot sales - mostly to get rid of his rubbish though and before we got together. I don't mind a wander around, but am not much of a seller.
I am warm too...though someone said to me that they were cold yesterday!!!
Seriously the mow-bot was cheaper than a ride on with the advantage that it will do the job if we go away!! It's quite safe and will avoid Daisycat although she will avoid IT!!! If it's quiet enough we can run it at night.
Christine, my sister had her tonsils and adenoids out, but they had stopped doing them so easily by the time I arrived. I had tonsillitis several times a year and glandular fever, but still have the offending objects!!
Do you think that subliminal learning works?? I am not convinced....
Are we doing 1000th page?!! How many would that have been if we had not had the forum crash?!! Wow
To Valval :hammock:
Awww poor family and poor doggie - sounds like a heart attack don't you think? I am so sad for them and you ((()))
Barbara I hope you were able to change physio? I agree with Christine Niamh did so well to keep on gong bless her. It's lovely that she was so shocked to see you all and pleased that it distracted her
You can come to the village - it's lovely People knocking the door to welcome us!! I want to stay here FOREVER!!!! You can help me with my jam-making
There is a cat's protection lady in the village who can collect our donations of unwanted stuff too.....
Joan you and Barbara are right it is a bit like the Darling Buds of May....and Midsomer too No murders though I hope
Right onwards and upwards I think
Love

Morning all...
Aiden it was Kath that started the 1000 page I think she should get a prize...oooh what lovely cakes...I'm afraid I couldn't resit them..but life's to short..thats my excuse...I always try and leave room.. there are bats around her from the farm..I love watching them
Mod John you give them a go...Aiden tells us they are calorie free like the cafe food... :?
Toni so Daisycat is up to her old trick with the mice..she has settled in.. the village sound so serene..and how lovely for them to welcome you like that..when Niamh fell over everyone went awww..so she stuck her fingers in her ears..like she does and ran.. A mowbot wow would love to see that...
Christine I wonder if the doggy has pick up the bug that has been mentioned in the press..I think it was coming out of long grass or woods..and it effected there breathing..its so sad..Our eldest GD is fine now thankyou..and back to work... I miss having here here..
Joan..there cant be much rain left up there... I remember my late mum saying that, and I would believe her.. nice that your neighbour has put new batteries in your smoke alarm..we dont want you climbing..
Right I am packing up and going to live with Toni ...anyone joining me I am sure she wont mind...
think we are going out for coffee and cake...
Love to everyone xxxxxLove

I had my blood tests today. I think I will make my appointment ASAP.
I didn't know I'd broken the 1000 page record. Any of those cakes on Aidan's cake can be my prize. No, actually, that big chocolate one please.
So sorry to hear about the doggy Christine.
 :hammock: :deckchair:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Congratulations Kath, you broke the 1000 - you enjoy the chocolate cake. Those sort of cakes are not really for sharing, that way, no one misses out,
I hope you get an appointment as soon as, for your blood results, if you need, we will be on pocket duties, rest assured.
Well, if you are going to Toni's Barbara, then it seems only fitting if we get the bus ready and we can all pay a visit. I want to have a go with the robot. it sounds like great fun, I think. Glad you GD is recovered and hope you enjoyed coffee and cake. There, all ready, I had better pack an enormous cheesecake, scones and chocolate brownies, just need the clotted cream Barbara.
Joan, the smoke alarms are one of the best inventions ever, it is good that they start to chip when the battery is getting low. We have two, one is wired into the mains and we have another in the lounge. The more the better in my book. Glad you had help to sort out the battery. Definitely no climbing, Matron's orders, lol. That goes for all of us really. Of course, a doggy bag, for sure.
Christine I hope you are ok, everyone will be so upset. Sending lots of hugs.
Daisycat is obviously wanting to bring in lots of presents, to her new home, meeces and the like, bless her cotton socks  although I would have shrieked had I found said mouse.
I am SO SO glad you are happy, it makes things just a tad easier if you have a beautiful place to really call home.
Cats protection, oh what a lovely lady, I like her immensely already, we will bring lots of donations. How wonderful that people are going out of their way to say hello. Are you ready for us all to arrive in the bus, en mass?
Right, pills, biscuits, nap, love to all, take care for now XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Aidan the cat's protection lady has 5 cats and I liked her straight away too
Tia and I have put a lot of stuff ready for her already this week. I used to take mine to the PDSA as I could park outside or clothes to TK Max as they are for youngsters who have cancer.
I didn't shriek oddly enough...Tia is here ATM so we caught him between us. Me supplying useful implements - towel, bowl.
One of our fish is on her way out too.....I don't want to go and check
Yes PLEASE bring the large cheesecake and you will all be even more welcome
Probably the whole village will come to say hello to you all too (including cat-lady)
Kath gets a prize
for being first to pass the 1000 mark
and of course you don't have to share the choccy cake!!
Barbara I hope you enjoyed the coffee and cake yesterday
Please do pack and come over anytime. Easy to find being called Church View!!
I think your Niamh sounds adorable. Bless her
this prize is for her for being the cutest and not giving up
Joan a mow-bot is a robotic mower. It cuts the grass on it's own!! They put wires in the grass and it cuts up to them. It turns round if it bumps into anything too. You can program it to work overnight. It actually worked out cheaper than a ride on mower (poor Paul!!) and is better as it will still mow if and when we go on holiday
Nice neighbours changing your battery for you - safety first I always say. I bet the warning noise upset the doggies though?
Love to everyone

Congratulations to all who frequent Val's Cafe, how amazing to reach the 1000 page mark. A credit to you all, long may the cake and tea continue in this haven of joy. Here a a few contributions to the catering for you all

Oh how can I not share that cake with my lovely friends? Anyway, every time I cut a slice, the gap fills in. I think it is going to be an everlasting cake, so plenty to go round. Mods, help yourselves.
ENJOY
Oh Joan, I do hope the doggies have stopped shaking, poor little mites. :?
Mod Sharon, balloons and more cakes. Wonderful, thank you.
Toni, I'm so glad Daisycat is now happy with her cat flap. She must be a good hunter. That reminds me of one of my old poems, I'll dedicate it ti Daisycat.
The Hunter
Through the undergrowth she steals,
In grassy jungle creeps,
Belly down, eyes like slits
Pretending she's asleep.
Wary, watching all the time
Ears twitch at sounds unknown.
Searching skies where clouds flit by
And many birds have flown.
With haunches up and muscles tense
her gaze fixed on her prey;
She pounces on the Butterfly
Which quickly flies away.
So yawning nonchalantly,
lies down to have a rest.
As hunters come and hunters go,
Daisycat's the the best.
I'll let you know when my appointment is set up."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

A quick hi - I need to get over the fact that I had written a veritable thesis this afternoon, then pressed the wrong button and it all vanished. :x  :?
I will have to have a lie down and compose myself.
Grrrrrrrrrr.
Thanks for the goodies Sharon, thanks for sharing your cake Kath, well done Toni for catching the meeces, (bless Daisycat). Hi Barbara, Joan and all. I will write again later.
XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Toni, sounds as if Daisycat has settled in if she is bringing mice in. I hope Tia disposed of it for you. You could be right about the dog having a heart attack. She's a black labrador. They say they are prone to weight gain and she was. And she was very lazy. Had to be dragged out to go for a walk and if anyone came to the door, she'd stay lying on the sofa and just bark from there. Your village sounds idyllic. I think we all want to come there to live.
Joan, yes the dog was like another child. We all loved her very much.
Toni, I wonder if Paul could stand on top of the mowbot. Not quite the same as the sit on one though.
Sharon, thank you for the balloons and cake. Hope you will join us in a cuppa.
Kath, thank you for the everlasting cake. We'll never be short again. Congratulations on starting the 1000th page.
Barbara, that's good getting your physio appointment changed. It is important for us ladies to get our hair cut. Are we off on a picnic to Toni's? That should be fun. No idea if it was the bug. I haven't heard of it round here though. My son said they don't want to find out why the dog died. It won't bring her back or make them feel any better. I'll come and live with you at Toni's. Sounds really lovely, doesn't it?
Aiden, I hope you have recovered from losing your post. It's so annoying when we do that. I have a smoke alarm at the top of the stairs and another at the bottom. The nice firemen came to put them in for me. It's really annoying when they beep when the battery needs changing but I think they are a necessity. Thank you for the hugs. We've all been upset at losing the dog. The kids are devastated but it is something every one of us goes through unfortunately. I know they'll be ok eventually. I woke up one night last year hearing noises in my wardrobe. I switched the bedside light on and sat up. There on the floor looking at me was a tiny mouse. I'm surprised it didn't have a heart attack when I screamed at it.
I did the next lesson on my course last night. I had to laugh at one point. The tutor was talking about ways to tell you are overweight. She talked about looking in the mirror and about fat calipers. I typed a question to one of the other tutors to ask if the scales that check your body fat really work as my fat % was too high. She said they did but weren't exact and that I would lose the weight soon. I typed "I hope you are right." As I was typing it, the tutor had started talking about the body fat scales. She said they pass an electric current though your body but you don't feel it. Then she must have noticed I'd typed "I hope you're right" and thought I was talking to her as she burst out laughing and said, "It's ok Christine. They won't electrocute you."Christine0 -
Thank you Sharon!!
We very much appreciate the goodies and congrats
Kath - I LOVED the poem Thank you very much it sounds just like Daisycat!!
You should post it again in the poetry section at the top of the page then everyone can read it
Do you still write?
I am very pleased to hear the cake is never-ending so anytime anyone fancies a slice we can get straight in
Labs are known for weight gain aren't they Christine I still think it's lovely that he didn't go through lots of nasty treatment first though. Imagine barking from the sofa!!!
The course sounds fun! as do the tutors an electric current? How scary!
Is your hair curly now???
Paul has accepted that the bot is indeed the way forward. He cut the grass here with my mower (rechargeable bosch one) and it took 5 DAYS!!!!!
I do the front hahaha! Takes 10 minutes!! (the back needs starting again too )
Aidan I am so sorry you accidentally deleted your post :? That is so annoying as the 2nd attempt is never as good.
We have sussed that Daisycat is only bringing those pesky meeces in through the sun room door not her flap so from now on - it stays SHUT!!!
Barbara you're right they have a base. Paul, (who is an electrician) will put the outside plug on this weekend ready for the wires to be laid on the 19th.
Oh guess what? You can get an app so you can turn him off if there's a drought while you are away!!!!
I found a lovely bird bath in the mess by the pond and am going to get Paul to put it on the front lawn for me. Daisycat doesn't go out the front much.
Aw Joan Poor dogs! You know the alarms are set at the right pitch though and will disturb you if ever needed.
Last night I went to a spiritual night with Charley and her O/H and her O/H's Nan.
They were doing card readings, tea leaves, table tipping, (though we thought one of the older ladies was tipping that table!!!). Divining rods and runes etc...
Oh yes and there was a Ouija thing (sp) which wrote on paper. It kept going towards Charley
Finished up rather late with a buffet
Love to you all

Morning all going to have my hair done in half hour..she is coming here instead of me going there...
Aiden it drives me mad when the post goes..when its a long one and I am getting to the end I get all shaky..just in case it goes
Christine at least she didn't suffer..bless..when we lost our last doggy we cried for weeks... Christine that is brilliant we wont electrocute you... I didnt realise you had tutor you could talk to..or type to.. yes my hair today we have to keep up standards
Toni I want one of those mower to play with..I do love technology.. an app is brilliant...I have been to a spiritual night with my neice and really liked it..the things they come out with... nice to find a bird bath...it will save you buying one...
Right I had better get ready..speak later..anyone seen Mig around..Love

Afternoon to one and all - I will try again, taking great care not to press the wrong buttons. :?
Christine, a mouse in the wardrobe, I had to laugh. We had exactly the same in France, well, it was behind the wardrobe, jumping up and down - well, with three cats and us two, it managed to escape..........don't ask me how.
I had to laugh at the electrodes too, I know they use calipers and a chart to measure body mass index. I always say, "don't tell me, I don't want to know thank you". As for looking in a mirror, well, I try not to, only when I am having a shave. We all see ourselves differently to how others see us without a doubt. Good that your tutor saw the funny side though.
I am sure your G Children and family are devastated, as you will be too. It is so hard loosing a pet, well, they are always more than pets in my book, they are part of the family, with characters, personalities, they know what you are doing and when, they love you without question (usually for some food too), lol. Bless. More hugs needed xx
Good idea to keep the sun room door shut, hopefully less meeces now Toni.
I had written an essay about the mice we had in our second house in France. We moved into a small cottage, really in the middle of a farmers field, so with all the corn and sunflowers etc, there were going to be meeces. I think we had three in the house, before we blocked all entries and nooks and crannies. One mouse ran over Pepe's paws and he shot 4 foot into the air, (big brave boy cat).
The majority lived in the garage, which was away from the house. The washing machine was in there and I used to dread going in. I would bang and clatter to send them scurrying. Fine, until I was in the corner where the washing machine was and they would run up the wall, the washing would be thrown everywhere and I would be out like a shot, screeching for OH to sort things out.
I was SO glad when we sold and moved into a small medieval town.
Sounds like you had an interesting evening. I used to read palms, a long time ago and I still see people's auras, which I find fascinating. There is far more to the earth and the universe than we can ever imagine at this stage in life. The number of spirits that I have seen, indeed both of us saw one spirit so clearly, some years back. We are sure it was my late father, who had come to see that Mum was ok in hospital after major surgery. Working in hospitals for so long, all sorts of strange happenings.
Hope your hair is done to perfection Barbara, I love having my hair cut, I am always on to OH, please cut my hair, again...........
You love technology? well, you need to come here, we have a house full to the brim, phones, oled tv, computers in all shapes and sizes...........loads of it, too much really. It is just amazing what we can do these days.
Right, love to all, I am going to press submit, before I watch the last set of Federa Raonic - it is getting nerve jangling.
Take lots of care XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Kathleen yes thank you I hope you don't have to wait too long for your appointment.
Barbara yes they are having good walk's I hope you have had a good day.
Aidan i'm sorry you lost your post very maddening I know.

Ah Joan I think you can get a robot to do your carpet!!!
I'm not quite that lazy yet honestly
I hope you haven't got rain yet we have and lots of it
Barbara your hair looks lovely It's taken 10 years off you.
The bird bath was probably 30 years old or more the lady before the lady we bought off. I like it very much . Paul has put it on the front lawn for me and it looks great
The psychic event was good I like that sort of thing too. I'll go again for sure.
As for mig, no I haven't seen her, nor Elizabeth....???
Aidan - your French mice tales sound really scary I would have been shrieking all over the place too
What was Pepe like!! Did he starfish? That is so funny when cats do that. I am planning to watch channel 5 cats do the funniest things on Sunday night
We are in a similar position sort of...fields behind and the farm to the left. Last night we sat out and I could hear hoses whinnying
My Mum used to read palms and tea-leaves too!
I would have thought, if there was anywhere spirits would be it would be a hospital so am not at all surprised you saw things.
I love it here so much - even in the rain!
Love

Toni, funny you should ask if my hair is curly now. My cousin posted a joke picture on FB about her hair being very curly and how difficult it is. Some cousins agreed with her but some of us have straight hair and have often tried to curl it. Never happy with what we've got. Sounds as if your mowbot will be on the go most of the time to get everything cut. How posh having an app to control it while you're away. How wonderful finding a 30 year old bird bath. I'd love something like that. I've seen a couple of posts about greyhounds that Elizabeth has posted so hopefully she is just busy with other things. I'm so glad you love your new home.
Barbara, when I signed up for this course, I thought I would just have reading to do and questions to answer like the last one. It's quite good having the tutor actually talking and being able to ask questions at the time. We have a few laughs too. Someone actually phoned me the other day to ask how I was getting on and if I had any problems. I'd like a mowbot too. Think I'd be sitting on it letting it take me round the garden. Mig was on her other thread earlier saying she'd had internet problems but her appointments have come through. Love your new hair.
Aiden, your story about the mice made me laugh. I laughed about my mouse too a few days later. It was tiny but at the time, I was convinced it was going to swallow me whole so I grabbed my duvet and slept downstairs that night. You're right. We do see ourselves differently. I know I'm overweight by using the chart and by what I see but friends say there's not a picking on me (I'm sure they're being polite) and even the heart health nurse said I have nothing to worry about. Thank you for the hugs. My son said the older 2 aren't too bad now as they are at the age when their friends are the most important thing in their lives, the little one keeps asking if she can see the dog but it seems it's my son and his wife who are missing her the most. I've never seen any spirits but have had a few unexplained experiences around the time I left my husband and my gran died. Street lights used to go off as I past them, keys would swing in the lock, there were knocking noises on an upstairs outside wall and my gran's clock, which I had in my wardrobe, used to tick even though there were no batteries in it.
Joan, my daughter's inlaws have a bot to hoover for them. My daughter's dog loves to chase it. Hope you have a good weekend.
There were some plans put in recently to change a house on the outskirts of a nearby village in to a home for autistic children. What a great idea I thought. Yesterday morning, I was walking along the High Street and someone had put posters up on several shop windows asking people to complain about it as they didn't want a children's home near them. I was gobsmacked and angry that in this day and age that people could think like that. While I was at work, I wrote how I felt on some sticky notes and posted them on top of all the posters. Still can't believe that people feel like that.
There was a knock on the door about 7.30 last night. It was my next door neighbour. Apparently, the man who lives out the back of my house had popped his head over the fence and told my neighbour, who was sitting in the garden, that there was a lot of water pouring out of my garden and down their road. They thought my pond was leaking. I went to have a look and sure enough there was a small river making it's way down the road. I had watered the garden the night before and forgotten to turn the tap off. Oops! At least the bottom of my garden is well watered now.Christine0 -
Morning all..its pouring down here and its the school fair..Niamh is helping such a shame when they have worked hard to put it on
Aiden talking of mice when we moved in here..its a 1930s house..the old lady wouldn't catch or kill the mice so they were running riot..i remember opening a drawer in the kitchen...and out came a mouse..so it was war...we got humane traps and caught many..but then the cat starting bringing baby's in... now my hair well my neigbour and I look alike and she is nearly 90.....we both have the same mobile hairdresser.. I had to laugh at Pepe's..must have been a shock..yes I think mirrors do lie... :?
Toni when do you get your mowbot..and I was wondering what happens when its gets full...I have visions of it looking up at the green bin... just scroll up to read about my hair...
Joan..hope you and Sue have a good weekend..hope the weather is better than here...do the doggy's not like the rain..when we had out Susie she wouldn't go out if it was raining..
not doing much today ..tomorrow we are off to Yorkshire for 3 days ..its the only time we can get in the B&B before the school holidays...cant do weekly holidays any more..so is you dont ear from me you know were I am...
Love to everyone..xxxxxx
Just spotted you there Christine...its a good job the neighbour spotted the water.. I have dont the same when we had a pond...the course sounds brilliant and not one of then that leave you to it...
How horrible of someone to complain about the home for autistic children..whatever would they have against' that..aww the children will miss the doggy...bless and it will be hard to get another for a while....hope you have a good relaxing day..Love
Barbara0 -
It was also pouring down here this morning Barbara. Hardly surprising then that everything ached. :? It didn't help that I had an awful night, so I'm exhausted too. Just to cheer myself up, I'm adding this to my post.

Oh Kath I hope tonight's a better one for you..some hugs to keep you going (()) xx very very humid here..ir says 17 tonight... not packed a thing yet never mind ...it will get done.Love

Aaw, Barbara, isn't it awful when the kids work hard and then it rains. Hopefully it wasn't too much and Niamh enjoyed herself. I don't think the mice do a lot of harm but I couldn't let them stay. You and your neighbour might look alike but have you thought maybe she looks your age. You're off on your break tomorrow so have a lovely time. Fingers crossed for good weather.
Oh Kath, no wonder you are feeling exhausted with everything going on and not sleeping well. What lovely flowers. They have cheered the cafe up.
I posted links to the newspaper article about the home for the autistic children along with a picture of the posters on our town's FB page. Everyone is outraged. I've also looked at the comments on the planning site from 9 of the people who live in the village near the home. They have objected because they think the children will be antisocial and will abuse alcohol and drugs. They are children who need extra help. I think these people must live on another planet. Haven't really done anything today. I was planning on going out but it kept raining so it put me off.Christine0
