Not liking this heat. We get the sun on the front in the afternoon and evening. So by the time we get to bed it's blistering up there. I am dripping wet, and NOT in a good way. :x

Years ago we lived near a brook. The cat we had at the time (Topsy) used to leave Water Voles all over our patio. We also used to watch toads hopping around. Before we lived there it had been father in law's house. He left a dilapidated old shed where a toad family lived under the collapsed door.

I was going to do a menu of Mexican recipes but can't be bothered (sorry).

    :splash: :hammock: :deckchair:

OK, who turned the heating on??

Talk about a difference in temperatures within 12 hours. OM Goodness. AC unit has had a hoover and is all fired up ready. There is a breeze at the moment, so we will bear it a little longer. For sure it will be on later, when pizza is being cooked !! Just have one more load of washing to sort and dry on luke warm, not hot. It could go outside, but I am not going outside again today. :too-hot:

Bless Daisycat, supreme hunter. We had to use the flea treatment a lot in France, the previous owners of the last house we had, had dogs and the place was jumping, as we soon discovered. I was a maniac with the household flea spray, the spot on, more sprays, hoovering, mopping, even more sprays - in the end we got rid - dirty beggars, how dare they give our babies little lodgers. :o

Good idea to keep the chimney covered, cats do tend to like climbing into them.

Stratford is a lovely place, a long time since I went there, but I remember sitting by the stream...........v nice indeed.

Good idea to get a bag of ice Barbara, I forgot to get Juice today, with F in Law, nattering away, we just wanted to get out of the shop........
Have you tried Liz Ear** instant boost tonic. That is so nice, even more so if you keep it in the fridge, very cooling and smells wonderful, all natural.
Hope you have a good day out with your DIL, ice creams and lots of shade :)

Kath, I don't blame you for not doing a mexican recipe list. I think Jalapeno chillies might just finish me off completely, lol. When the weather returns to normal later in the week, will be fine.

I don't think I can sit and type any more, I will melt into my gel cushion. I am already at one with my clothes, which is more unpleasant. Right, AC time - before I fall off my perch. Try and keep cool, Hope you are ok Joan, Mig, Elizabeth, Christine..........gentle hugs, with ice packs, XX Aidan

:too-hot: Im here back from taking dil and family out..they have a sad pit at the garden center and decking overlooking a lake..so we sat outside didnt seem that bad at the time..I soon retreated to inside in the AC.. :)
Aiden I have tried the liz earl cleanse and polish but not the tonic boost ..will have to have a look at that...I have an ice pack on my wrist..and one on my back...why on earth does it have to go from 15 to 30...enjoy your pizza... :)
Kath so you are another that doesn't like this hot weather..one of our neighbours are sunbathing..she is chocolate coloured anyway..her age 82....
Just a point are these ACs to heavy to take upstairs..could do with one in the bedroom..

Barbara, maybe I should have turned the frog upside down and had a look. Yes we do feel good when we buy ourselves something we like and the dress will be cooler in this heat. The ice and spray will help a lot too. Glad you had a good day out with your DIL and GC. Sitting near the lake sounds lovely.

Aiden, I think you're doing the right thing by staying home tomorrow. I've changed my day off to tomorrow for the same reason. I'm going to have to buy scones now to go with my strawberries. Hope your frog comes back. I'd love to see him. That's a dilemma. To put the drier on or go out in to the heat. I think you've made the right choice. You could have melted out there.

Joan, I think the nights are warming up now. Hope you don't feel cold now.

Toni, good idea putting the mirror in front of the fire. We don't want Daisycat get stuck. So you reckon it's great grandma frog? I love her colours.

Kath, most of the heat here is at the back of the house but my bedroom at the front is always very warm, even with the window open all night. Do you have a fan you can use? I'm sure the toad family must have loved their home under the door. Don't worry about the menu. We're probably all too hot to eat much. I've just been picking.

I found it so difficult to work today. Everything was done in slow motion. I'm taking tomorrow off as it's meant to be a lot hotter. I was annoyed with my class tonight. The tutor delivered the lesson in half an hour and spent another hour talking about the next course and getting everyone signed up. Hope everyone manages to get some sleep tonight. Not sure I will. :too-hot:

LOL, I thought it was appropriate for the current climate Kath. I am still very warm, but less attached to my clothes than I was. After yet another shower - not sure if they make you hotter or cooler in the end  :splash:

Praise be for chilled air. It has taken a long time, but we are a lot cooler now. I was thinking the same Barbara, one day 15 and then wham, tomorrow it is 30 in the shade. You did right retreating to the cool of the garden centre. They have AC at our garden centre, but it was not on today, the doors were open, thought, oh, it's quite nice..............not after two large hot coffee's and a scone, I was awash.
The AC units are quite heavy, most, if not all, are on wheels, so moving them from room to room is ok, but carrying them upstairs would need a strong person or two. You have to have a window open, to vent the hot air pipe, a bit like a tumble dryer hose. The heat they throw out is incredible. We have a grill in the window, with a fine voile mesh on it, to stop creepies from coming in. In my last house in Skipton, we had a hole put in the bedroom wall, so it could be vented straight out, without having to have a window open. A better option really.
We could not do without it now, how we managed in the South of France I will never know - 45 degrees in the shade one year and no AC at that time. :o

I would recommend one to everyone, they start at about £200 ish. Of course you can have one like they have in the shops, with the cooling unit outside and the cold air system fixed to the wall inside the house, but then you are talking a lot of money.

I don't blame you for swapping your day off Christine. I think the best idea is to hide. How people sit out in it and bask, I will never know. Our neighbours opposite will sit out for hours and hours, makes me ill thinking about it.

The froggy will be in hiding under the decking, until the rains come after the heatwave. I will keep an eye out for him, he is well camouflaged against the pebbles.

Hope you manage to get some sleep, that goes for all of us. Once the AC is off, I will have to quickly take my pills before I heat up again.

Right, I had better do some pottering, this gel cushion is not getting any cooler with me parked on it. Take care everyone, n night

:splash: well, it's here, 30 degrees and counting. A very hot morning to one and all.
I think sleep was tortuous last night, to say the least. If I woke once, I woke a 100 times.........  Not that I was poached in bed, just one of those nights, could barely move when I did get up, screaming back, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
A bit better now I am pottering around and of course the AC is on. I would bite the neighbours hand off Barbara, if they are offering a chiller to borrow - YES PLEASE.
Curtains shut and of course, the cats want to open them and sit on the window sills -
I do need a wafty kaftan Barbara, you are right. I had to laugh yesterday evening, next door was chatting to another neighbour, from her decking, she had a big fleece dressing gown on - oh the thoughts, I would blow up.

A bit of washing, NO drying, NO extra heat. Things will dry in about 30 minutes out on the deck (sounds like we live on a boat, lol).
The lemonade sounds wonderful, ice cold, mmmmmmmmmm

Hope everyone manages to keep as cool as possible and drinks loads and loads.

Dentist for both of us tomorrow, let's hope it is not as hot, please please. Nero's as well, I will sit under the AC in their shop. Coffee does leak out, wonder why............he says, having had two very nice home made dolce whatsits.

Right, I am off into the freezer for a while. Ta Ra for now XXX Aidan

Christine, yes we have a fan each. But they are too noisy to have them on all night' They are usually on for about 2 hours before we go to bed. It soon warms up though. Roll on cooler weather.

Oh my goodness it takes ages to read back.

So briefly; Dan had a good time. There are 2 Rolls Royces and Dan has always loved one of them so seemed fitting to take him to the prom in one, Yes he is getting easier ow and not so uptight.

I'm struggling which joint pain but have at last had a phone call about rituximab and they should make an appointment next week.

Kath I'm always confused about test results. That made no sense to me. Still keep it safe for your pip and esa claims.

Apparently my inflammation was fine in May which begs the question why am I being changed from humira to rituximab?

Christine I really hope the 'footballer' is transferred to another club-one down South hopefully! Glad your family finally made it to their holiday destination. They put up a seating plan when you book your tickets but you have to pay a bit extra. I like to sit right at the back(so I can reach the loo quickly I think).

So it is a scorcher and I fell asleep in the garden this morning (under an apple tree). I'm lucky I tan so easily. Yesterday I played my i-pod and sat in the sun. Think I'll do the same this evening.

I managed about 5 mins of gardening but can't manage anymore due to back pain plus my 'good foot' has decided it wanted to join the RA party-think it was feeling left out.

I'm a Liz Earle fan and love the tonic. It is about £12-£15 a bottle though .Mind you OH didn't realise the muslin cloths were for my face and not to wash the bathroom tiles.

I bought a new rug for my lounge and in the picture it looked a faded red but was actually bright poppy red when it arrived which is actually what I wanted. So I'm very pleased. I'm now looking for a big larder, storage cupboard for my kitchen as I'm running out of places to put everything.Dan wants a rocking chair for his birthday :)

So Dan is down for respite every Tuesday in August and I plan to go round my friends house and listen to music and chat. We also hope to go out for a meal.

Toni I can't scroll back to your post-sorry. I was hoping to see the fire place pic.

Love to Joan and Sue and the doggies.

Will post before the dreaded post loss!

LOL Barbara, don't worry, we are all as bad, tell him I will borrow the kaftan, I don't mind what colour it is................I will be round for some lemonade strawberry drink.......
OM Goodness, even with the AC on full blast, it is SO SO hot. I am leaking like a chocolate T pot.
Hi there Elizabeth, don't worry about reading back, I get in such a muddle if I go back more than a page or two, knot knowing who did what, where, why and when.
You enjoy sitting out, in the semi shade, good when you tan easily, I just fry and totally avoid being in the sun at all costs. Sorry that you are in pain and the other foot has decided to join in on the devilish arthur.
I knew someone would be a big fan of the tonic. I get dithery if I think we are running low. It is a real pleasure to use. Have been dousing Eyebright on this afternoon, splashing it on like a cologne. Lovely.
Those muslin cloths do seem to wander into other places. I found one under the boiler pipes the other week, who put that there.......... :? It is NOT a cleaning cloth, as in general cleaning
The rug sounds lovely, I like poppy red too. Good luck finding the larder cupboard and rocking chair too. Good that the respite is arranged and you will have chance to go out with your friend.

Hope you are ok Toni, there was a hospital appointment up as I recall, xxx hugs all round.

Joan, hope you are having a good day, this warm weather suits your aches and pains, total opposites we are.

I must move, I am, yet again, at one with myself, even the cats don't know what to do and that is with the chiller on. A low of 25 degrees tonight. Deep joy !! NOT

Elizabeth, I've been on DLA highest rate for years. As I'm 65, they are leaving us as we are, and concentrating on the under 65s. OH is 69 this year, and won't be affected. He says he doubts they will bother with me now. Hope he's right. :?

I think you are right Kath, as I am under 65, despite me having indefinite awards, they will be calling for me to jump through a whole load more hoops, as I had to do years back. Just waiting for the PIP diatribe to arrive in the post box. Oh well, we will have to cross that bridge as and when..........pocket duties will be very much in order. lol xx

Yes DLA (not attendance allowance)was originally a working age benefit intended to equalise things between those able and those less able.

They used to have 'life-time' awards too, which they changed to 'indefinite' meaning whenever they want to :?

Meant to call in earlier but have just been sitting quietly melting. Looks as if everyone has been. Not sure I'll get to post tomorrow as it's my last course lesson tomorrow night.

Toni, like the look of your mowbot. Bet you sit out watching it.

Barbara, it's too hot even for physio. At least you got cake. Love the sound of your strawberry lemonade.

Aiden, hope you cope with the heat tonight. It's supposed to be a little cooler tomorrow but I don't think by much. Hope neither of you need any work doing at the dentist.

Elizabeth, glad Dan enjoyed his prom and you're enjoying the sun. Sorry your pain is worse though. Love the sound of your rug.

Kath, I've tried leaving the fan on overnight but, as you say, they are too noisy.

Joan, I think I would have collapsed if I'd done ironing today. Hope you are coping with the heat.

Whose silly idea was it to walk down to the town to go to the bank? Ah yes, that would be me. Only went to the bank then called in to C*sta for a cold drink. It was triple points today which would have given me a free drink next time. Only I forgot my card. Doh! Right, I'm off to melt in bed. Hope everyone manages to get some sleep tonight.

ohhhhhhhhh, Toni, I need, well, OH needs one of those robots, how amazing is it and then some.
What a lovely lawn and terraced area too. I am very impressed with how neatly it cuts and finishes the job. I would just have to sit and watch it doing its thing, well maybe not on the hottest day of the year. Glad it is up and running.

It has and continues to be melting - I have not felt it this humid since I was in the USA, in NY, boy was that hot and sticky. At least everywhere was chilled, apart from 5pm when the power often went out, as everyone came in from work and put the AC on.

I bet you needed that cold drink Christine, after walking into town. They will add your points on to your card I am sure. I don't mind Costa, the coffee is quite nice. It will be Nero's for us today.

I know we are all hot hot hot. Really struggling with it at the moment, even with the cooler going full blast. Makes my heart rhythm go a bit squiffy. It is ok the Consultant saying don't get too hot, or too cold............right, ok. Warming up is easy as pie, cooling down is another matter.

Don't want to leave the pus cats too long while we are out today, leaving earlier to get half shopping done before dentist, then quick lunch, then Mark's for the cold things, then home asap. All the curtains will be shut and fan on. Praying it is a bit cooler and we have a storm to clear some air. :too-hot:

Right, I had better potter a bit, hang some shirts up, they will dry in about 10 minutes flat.

Take lots of care XXXX Aidan

Now apparently dogs bark at them, but cats ignore them
    g010.gif

Sooooo hot I feel sick through lack of sleep last night and we are off to the orthopaedic hospital today for Lucy's pre-op.

I know you are doing your best to keep warm, but with your dicky heart we all worry ((()))

Tia will stay in to look after Daisycat and keep the place as cool as she can. I hope your 3 do ok.

Christine you have nearly finished your course? Well done you! Is there an exam now?

Shame you missed your free costa  at least you had a cool drink.

I hope you managed a little sleep.:(

Mod John :) He is a sweetie though as you say not good for exercise. Mind you mowing in this heat isn't such a great idea is it?
