Evening to one and all -

Toni I am so sorry to hear about Lucy, nothing I can say will make it better, but I do send hugs and blessings. Those wellies will be used I am sure.

I saw that as one of the last posts. I see you have a date for the operation too.

Barbara, Kath, Joan Elizabeth Christine Mig and all. I will try and have a read back, but best laid plans of mice and men............

Mum is home now, came out mid week. Pretty fragile as you can imagine, after septaceamia it take some getting over, let alone her primary cancer diagnosis. Matron is keeping an eye, sorting things out, we are going round every day. She went to see the GP today, but apart from that has no intention of going out.
I have been in touch with the McMillan nurses and they are coming out next week. Mum asked me to ring and bring them up to speed. They are very good, more than good in fact.
So, we are still running out of time each day, no sooner are we up and about, than it seems to be late afternoon...................Not to worry, keep pressing on.
I know I am doing too much, but that's the way it has to be at the moment, just take more pain numbing pills.

Nice to have had rain today, mind you I was still lathered - my thermostat has gone off completely, in fact it needs replacing I am sure.

We have finished my ESA form, just a final check and then it can go off. It is like a huge weight on your back, it brings on angina it worries me so much. Anyway, we will send it off early next week and leave it in the lap of the Gods.

Well, it is well after midnight, so I had better move and do some pottering. The washer is still going, been busy all day, catching up on laundry.................you would think we had a hotel, the amount of washing that breeds.

Everyone take lots of care, missed everyone f030.gif. Love XXXX Aidan

    And we missed YOU Aidan!!

It was still hot yesterday despite the rain.

Such a relief Mum (IL I know, but she is like your Mum) is safely home and Macmillan are helping. I hope she does ok now for a good while :) I should jolly well think you have needed more painkillers with all that as well as those forms setting off your angina!

    Fingers crossed anyway.

Lucy is awake getting ready. The sparkly wellies are going to get some use today for definite :) She wants to go rather early despite the dreadful weather. Paul and I are available to drop off and pick up as and when needed.

Thanks too to Barbara and mig. Poor old Lucy :( Still today she will go until she is soaked and begging to return I expect. Justin Bieber is on today and Rhianna tomorrow  Got to get your priorities right eh?

Yes arthroplasty is joint surgery of the replacement type you are right Joan :)

Christine I cheated a bit with the bulbs and soaked the ground first - no need now of course!! Now the birds follow the bot around so I must take you all a photo!

Sorry about Bosses MIL :( Glad they are back sorry about all the ironing though :?

Elizabeth I think kids go to university these days if they don't know what else to do possibly so if it's not for Jack I hope he realises soonish into the course before he gets too much student debt. I am glad he passed though well done to him :)

My Charlotte did not do ballet!! She wouldn't leave her Mummy!! Lucy had no sense of direction. I bet you treasure all her old outfits too :)

I am so pleased your Lucy is receiving good help. Bless her I wonder whether she is already worrying about September. These are for you both ((()))

Kath I wonder if you got the osteoporosis from the steroids with your chemo. The dancing would have done some good though those drugs are powerful - need to be to zap cancer though don't they?

I do hope the rituximab is a go-er!!! Sounds like it and having the meds for your osteoporosis by drip.

    Right better get on.

My MIL is visiting today - gulp!!!

Toni, not sure where I got it from, but I've always been high risk, Low Calcium a a toddler (hence bandy legs and crumbly teeth) which is why doc wanted me on callipers (on my legs, not my teeth) . Gran and mum both had it. RA puts you at risk. The high dose steroids would have made things worse. Plus for 3 years I taken Anastrazole, a daily pill which stops you body producing Oestrogen when you've had hormone positive breast cancer. Both these drugs also cause cataracts too.

Aidan, glad you have Macmillan on the case for MIL. Wishing you success with your ESA claim. I don't know how the assessors sleep at night with all the stress and upset they cause claimants.

Toni, you are bound to worry about Lucy. She has such courage.

Mig I hope the whistle has done the trick. My Mum used to do that too :)

The wellies went to V festival and are still there bopping away :D

    May
    - how lovely!! You are lucky. I hope you had a great day. I am so happy the wellies are getting used now. I just felt so sad that Lucy never seems to be allowed to do anything other kids do. :?

    Here are the wellies :)

    th_20160820_072926.jpg

I will try to get a photo of happy muddy wellies when she gets home :)

Very interesting Kath and the whole added together really didn't give you much chance of avoiding osteoporosis did it? :(

Oddly enough I feel slightly less worried about Lucy today :?

    Mum's intuition??

Joan Lucy felt fine today thanks and has gone off to have fun if she takes photos I will post them :)

Barbara thank you for being kind it's not like me to be self-pitying, but sometimes.....

I have really enjoyed the Olympics this time too. When are the Paralympics now?

Joan, it's not easy having to slow down, is it? I needed to go in to town today but didn't get home till teatime so resting now.

Barbara, that appointment was quite quick. Shame it's on your anniversary though. I went through the menopause about 6 years ago. The nurse said I could still get hot flushes for a few years after. My rheumie told me it was the arthritis which was causing them. I'd like to listen to the two of them arguing it out.

    Oops, clicked submit by accident.

Toni, that is so unfair. I'm not surprised you're crying. I hope Lucy enjoyed the V festival today and got her boots nice and muddy. Glad you don't feel so bad today. That bot must be such fun. I might need to get one.

Aiden, good news that mum is home. I'm sure she feels better for it. I hope you can get a bit of rest now. You'd think there would be an easier way to fill those forms in, all the stress they cause.

Mig, seems as if the whistle worked.

May, is the hide one for watching birds? It's a great way to see them close up.

Kath, you have had a few things going wrong, haven't you? No wonder you got osteoporosis.

Back in February, I bought a battery operated can opener from one of the stores in the out of town shopping areas as my son had taken me there. I hardly use tinned food so had only used it a few times. A couple of days ago, I tried to open a can of salmon and the opener stopped. I couldn't get the can off and couldn't open the battery compartment either. I contacted the manufacturer who tried to help but then suggested I take it back and ask for my money back as I was still within the 12 month guarantee. It took me 2 busses to get there to be told I couldn't have my money back as it was over 28 days. I showed them the email I got from the manufacturer and argued my case so eventually they gave in. I got my money back and left them the broken can opener with a pierced can of salmon stuck to it and went elsewhere for a plug in one. I did suggest they left it in the tied plastic bag I put it in.

I also bought a new ironing board as mine had snapped in half. And a bowl big enough to mix ingredients in as I only had a very small bowl or a huge one. Not bad for a day's shopping considering I really didn't want to go out. Chocolate cake is in the tin next to the kettle if anyone wants some.

Ah Joan those feelings are normal aren't they? I have to make sure Lucy does everything she possibly can like you have :)

Did Christine say chocolate cake? For breakfast? Get in!!!!!!

I shall get the caramel macchiatos on to go with it :)

Well your can opener sounds a proper saga there  at least it's sorted now and well done for getting an 'in-between' bowl. I must too ours went AWOL in the move....how precisely did you break your ironing board?? Surfing on the pond again???

You can get hot flushes for so many reasons - I know an out of sync thyroid can do it (my bro had them!!!), as well as my MIL (82) who gets them when she eats to do with her diabetes and kidney failure or dialysis or something bless her. Obviously the menopause and the arthritis does if you have a temperature (high). Lucy had them on chemo and steroids at 16!!

Much better day today for the festival even got sunshine the wind has dropped now too :)

    Take care everyone :)

Afternoon to one and all - a pleasant day, not too warm............yet...

Thank you all for your kind words and support, as always, there has never been a more supportive group, ever.

Chocolate cake, I heard the word cake, is that right Christine, well that's my sort of breakfast. Race you for it Toni - maybe not race, potter for it.

I love the can opener saga, I would love to have been a fly on the wall. I bet they didn't know what to do with is once you had gone. Serves them right for opening the bag. Glad you got your money back and stood your ground. Way to go Christine.

Love the picture of the wellies Toni and I knew that they would bet some use at the festival. Team Lucy :) 8)
Caramel machi watsits sound good too. I will bring the cake over and we can sit by the door. Is daisycat well, still catching voles - any moles on the menu?

Hot flushes, well, I seem to be the king of them - I know that since I had my heart attacks and all the medication that goes with my health problems, plus the diabetis, I am usually lathered. Now, come the middle of October, I will be a cold morcel and have the heating on all day - totally bonkers. All summer the AC unit is keeping me cool and then I seem to switch.
Diabetis certainly does not help, I can usually predict what my blood sugars will be, just by how sweltered I am.

Hope you are ok Barbara, I see you have an appointment through, on your anniversary, that is a pain.
Babysitting a little toitoise, how cute. Glad he likes being fussed. Pictures, pretty please.
Hope it is cooler for you Barbara - we need to move to north of the arctic circle.

Joan, hope you and Sue are ok and the doggies too.

That's a cocktail of drugs Kath, from an early age too.

Mum is not too bad, a little brighter today when we popped in. I think by Tuesday she will be up to a coffee and a scone. They will be worrying at the garden centre. We went in about 10 days ago and they packed up scones, butter, jam, all in a lovely box, from all the staff, for us to take into hospital. Bless them.
I keep up my barage of questions of how you are feeling, pain, etc etc, diet, fluids.
the McMillan nurses do a fabulous job. I am sure Mum will find her a great asset to her care.

Well, the washer and dryer are busy, still, after two days, there was so much to catch up on.

The ESA form has been done, printed, signed and posted back with the necessary letters and prescription list (that alone should make their toes curl) Now we just wait. If I am called in, we will have to cross that bridge. Everyone is right, they do not realise, that those who have been disabled for years and they know that fact, are quite happy to give us even more hoops to go through. It makes me feel like a criminal and totally strings me out. I had terrible angina yesterday, checking the form through.

I had better potter, enjoyed the Olympics, had to forego the tennis from Cincinatti. Looking forward to the US Open from New York. (My fav city).

Hugs to all, take lots of care, Aidan XXXX

Joan, I've kept my manual tin opener for emergencies but it's difficult and painful to use. Hope you've had a good weekend.

Toni, caramel macchiatos with the chocolate cake? Mmmm, yum yum. How did you guess what happened to my ironing board? It was because all the frogs jumped on it too. Has Lucy gone to the festival again today? Hope she's had a great time.

Barbara, I'm wondering what they have done with the can opener and tin of salmon. It must be pretty whiffy by now. If they send it back to the manufacturer so they can claim their money back, it'll pong somewhat. A tortoise? I don't think many people have them now. I know what you mean about looking after other people's pets. Someone I know is looking after a friend's gerbil. They have been told it is very old and could die any time. :o

Aiden, no fighting over the cake. It's quite big so should be enough for everyone. And no throwing it at each other. The salmon tin will be a tad smelly by now. Hope they didn't have to keep it in the office over the weekend. :o That's strange how you change from being so hot in the summer to being so cold in winter. I manage with the heating for only an hour in the evening in winter. I get hot even then. How wonderful of the garden centre to give you scones to take to the hospital. Good to hear mum is doing better now. You must be so glad that form is filled in and posted so hope your angina settles now.

May, not sure what happened there. Seems you've copied my post.

Spent some time today at the park with my son and the little one. Most of the time on the slide. My GD, not me. Then a wander round Toys R *s. She loved going round the store in a big shiny toy sports car. My son reckons she has her mum's taste.

Yes Barbara I worry a lot when pet-minding!!! Once I was supposed to be minding a friend's rabbit when I got there....you guessed it   Tortoise photos? please!!

I hope something can be done about the nerve pain it is really nasty :(

May We had a small wagtail (ok they're all small!!) in the house yesterday - I needed you!! Luckily he managed to get himself out before my husband got home to help me. Luckily Daisycat was safely secured in the spare room :)

Lucy had a great time yes thank you Christine bless her. I wonder whether it's out of her system now???

The wellies will definitely be kept forever!

The macchiatos went well with the cake, but tea was available too :)

and to think I thought you'd gone down the slide  I bet GD had a great time two beloved adults all to herself :)

Aidan the cake was fabulous wasn't it? a bit rich with the macchiatos and must play havoc with our sugar levels :?

yes Go Lucy!!! Bless her I reckon she might not even wake up for our dental appointment tomorrow!!

Daisycat hasn't caught any moles, but still voles and mice although he rain seems to have meant less so she had to bring a recycled , (dead), one in yesterday ,save us going without

Gosh yes you do need to get to the garden centre ASAP because they really will be worrying. How wonderful are they packing her a take-away box for the hospital:D No wonder you keep going back there for your scones. Keep on getting well Mum(IL)!!!!

Right better et on things to do places to go...etc.....

Oh well, appointment tomorrow. Hope the transport works as it should. New company you see. The last lot lost the transport, the drivers are the same, but the booking staff are new :?

Barbara, we have a Roman road too. Most it is under a reservoir though. :o

Bertyboy, I think FB is used to wildlife photos. I love wildlife photos.

Aidan, lovely to see you back again. Hope you, OH, MIL and the cats are all doing well. What a lovely lot at the garden centre. :D

Toni, I love Lucy's wellies. My spell checker has been very naughty and replaced wellies with something entirely inappropriate.

Rain rain and then some more rain - still warm though, maybe not helped as I thought I would do some ironing. OH gets everything ready, if I try and get the ironing board, I bring the whole store cupboard with me
Better now, sat by the window.

Recycled meeces, how lovely for you Toni, at last puskins is keeping on her tootsies and waiting for the next catch, bless her. Cake does not seem to bother my blood sugar levels, well, it would if I ate a whole Vicotoria Sponge, but, otherwise I am ok. So, the caramel and cake and T were lovely.
How is mowbot, still busy, or does it keep itself in its shell when the weather is inclement (hark at me with big words, lol).
Glad Lucy enjoyed the festival, I was reading about it on the Mail I think it was, a huge event. Lots of sleeps needed I am sure.

We will be off to the garden centre tomorrow, to bring them up to speed. Not sure if Mum will go, she was not as bright today. She will ring us in the morning and say how she feels. I know she wants to go, but if you are worn out, then there is no point pushing things.

May, we have a lot of lovely spots here in the Ribble Valley, we live in the woods - well, I should say, there are a lot of trees around and about us. Roe Deer often whizz past, on their way into the deeper forest. Slugs and snails are all out in force now, all this rain has given them the incentive to munch. Hope the hedghogs have a feast later.

We try to look after ourselves too Joan. Not always easy when a family member is ill. The last couple of days we have taken time just to chill out a little. I don't mind doing some pottering, takes my mind off things. OH loves all the computers, mending, improving, etc. I must say I am tired, well, we both are. Definitely time for a nap in a while. Pills, T, shortbread biscuits and then a nap with the pus cats. You take care too Joan.

Barbara, there is never a need for an excuse to eat ice cream :) Let's hope they have found Roman ruins, then they will have to stop the building. I read about another 1020 houses going up, on the other side of town, that is a lot of extra people to stretch the local services, if you imagine an average of 4 per house (they are big houses), two cars each, etc etc. There has been a lot of campaigning againts it, but the council have passed it anyway. Typical.
We watched the closing ceremony last night, but by 230am and it was still going on, we had had more than enough music and noise to last till 2020. It was a good show and team GB really did us proud.

Looking forward to the tennis from New York next week, the last Grand Slam of the season.

All well wishes for your appointment tomorrow Kath, pocket duties, I will bring fresh scones.
Thank you, we are ok and the three amigo's are all fast asleep at the moment. They all come to life about 430, food, litter trays, medicines...........
Oh dear, wellies does not even flag up on the computer, not sure if my spell check is working, since OH had to reinstall windows 10 last week. I will have to have a look. LOL It's all in the letter I or E isn't it,:lol:

It is odd that I am either boiled or frozen Christine. My angina has been ok today, no pain so far, which is good. No chest pain anyway. We won't mention the joints.
No, we didn't fight over the cake, there was plenty. Talking of cakes, our neighbour works for a bakery and came round the other day with 8 cream lemon buns and two fresh cream sponge cakes. Looks like cake after supper. With Yoghurt and blueberries, for health benefits, lol. :? Help yourselves, one is Victoria, one is Chocolate. Apparently there were about a 1000 cakes all going to be thrown, all with long dates on them..............shocking.

Time to move. Love to all, everyone take care XXXX Aidan
