    Oh mig
The tea and toast would be so welcome, but like you absolutely NOT deal or no Deal

Morning Joan - I like the cola jubblies :) I think we need to try the vimto ones now :D

Aidan some of our new houses are almost at the tip too  are they mad?? Smell-y!!

    I wouldn't have thought you'd have needed colour-me-wow

Daisycat has forgiven me - enough to bring me in a new meece last night!! Took some catching he did and lived this time :)

Funeral was ok - lots there (my friend's husband was 20 odd years older than her). Very sad.

Macmillan are great aren't they? I don't know which antisickness they gave your Mum(il), but ondansetron helped Lucy loads and when things were too bad nosinan. Apologies for spelling.

I hope she enjoys her coffee out today and you manage both scone and cake

Barbara the food and drinks Fayre sounds great Lucy would have loved it. She really liked Nadia :) If you can get there you should.

I will take you a photo of the aircon. I have also found on ebay a thingy that goes in the crack of your window to stop the hot air sneaking back in when you put the hose out of it.

    Definitely worth every single penny.

I hope you also slept well last night. I did. Got some splints for my carpal tunnel and so didn't need to sort my hands out!!

Lovely and sunny here so hope I can pop a few more bulbs in.

    Love

Was going to start MTX tomorrow, but had a bad night, so can't stay awake. Think I'll have it at tea time. Hope it helps me sleep better. Bit anxious though, it's T *** delivery later. :?

Evening to one and to all.
I am sure Daisycat is duly over her drench with water. See, another present for you and it survived too. She is a little minx, bless.

The McMillan nurse px metoclopramide (maxolon). Three times a day, to help improve her appetite as well as reduce any nausea. Ondansertron is a very good drug too> Nozinan is quite a powerful drug, as you say, when other things are not working it is used. It reduces anxiety too and is often given with morphine. Sorry, I am rambling on about potions. No, I have long given up having my hair coloured, OH said I looked like a ferret LOL. It is so short now and all grey.

Mum did come out for a coffee, managed 3/4 of a scone and a large latte. I think she had had enough so we took her and dad home. They had to go out again later in the day to the podiatrist. I must ask if they can do domicillary visits from the hospital. I will get the McM nurse onto it. :)

It was brighter today Barbara, a lot less humid, it was dark and misty here last night (Thursday), more like November weather, but hotter, lol.
We will look in on Mum in the morning and take Dad to the shop for groceries. Mum will have a nod on the sofa I am sure, while we are out. I like to keep a check on how things are fairing. Once a nurse, always a nurse I guess. Even though I have been put out to graze.
McM do do a fabulous job. She was certainly on the ball, up beat and up front about things, no point in dithering and being afraid to discuss the present and the future.

Kath you have all my sympathy with regards not sleeping. I finally convinced the Drs that I was an incurable insomniac, some years ago, hence I take sleeping pills and have done for a long time. Fortunately, for 99% of the time, they work as well now, as they did when I first started taking them, so I have not needed to increase the dose, or change tablets.
I am usually done in by 5-6 pm, so go for a nap, invariably I am wide awake the moment I lay down even though I was nearly nodding off in the chair.
Physio's banned me from sleeping in a chair, said it was not good at all for my back, neck, sciatic pain etc. Hope the Methx helps and you get some rest, after the Tes-- delivery of course.

T and toast, very nice Mig, but pass on Deal or no Deal. I used to watch it a long time back. I would brick the TV at that time of day. If J Ky-- came on, even worse.

Well, I had better move, both hands are numb, darned carpel tunnels. It's no fun, dropping to bits is it. :?
Everyone take lots of care. We will see what the week end brings. We did win £2.80 on the Euro, so not sure what to buy.:lol: XXX Aidan

    Hey-ho Aidan :)

Lucy lived on metoclopramide for ages, but it didn't do the job for her. I think it depends on the cause of the nausea doesn't it as there are many reasons. Macmillan gave me the info to ask for more effective stuff for her. Lucy wasn't eating therefore didn't need food shuffled through!! Domperidone was the same (sp!) the only good thing about that one was I could remember it's name!!! I hope I never need to know all of this again :( Looks like it's embedded in yours!!!

If met is working I am very pleased for your Mum. 3/4 of a scone is good and a large latte - milk and liquid well done mum!

I am sure Macmillan can sort out podiatry for now. No need for extra hassle is there?

Darn carpal tunnels indeed! Why both hands??!! Not fair and typing is one of the things which makes mine numb as does holding the phone and as for turning keys(car)

Those resting splints do prevent some of the night-time symptoms though.

I am very pleased that you are still able to sleep on same dose of sleepers. Dr will be happy enough I should think with that. :)

What would I do with your euro win?

    Mmmm...you're already having a new car.......diamonds maybe?

wouldn't even run to a decent coffee would it!!

Hi Kath - I hope your Tesco delivery was all present and correct and like me you timed it for when you would have most help to unpack??

My fingers are crossed the MTX does something to help you ((()))

Like Barbara I also take amitriptyline. On the whole it does help a bit I think.

    Barbara
yes it is bulb time August is the best month on the whole I think. Then I forget all about them until year after year they come up so pretty :)

I wonder whether you got to the food fayre?

Paul said Bake-off has started again so we will need to find it on catch-up.

Lucy and he are usually glued to it!!

I hope Joan and Elizabeth are ok and that mig hasn't been subjected to any more D or N D

    Love to you all

Our grandson Chester (Emily's eldest) has done well on his GCSE results. He got four A's one A* one B and four C's. Triple Science, maths, Geography, among others. :D We're all very proud of him.

I was given boxes galore of metclopramide by my chemo nurses. Never needed them, but they kept insisting on me having them. :o

well, it is Sunday already, a very early morning to one and all.

Hi there Toni, yes, the ant emetics are many and varied and do depend on the cause of the problem in the first place. I have taken Maxolon for ages, must be 20 years and more. I don't take them very often now, once a flood, when the cocktail of drugs knock you a bit sickly.
Domperidone is another good one. Yes, medication is embedded in my psyche, I was always called the walking national formulary on the wards - ask Aidan, he will know.....lol No, you are the new junior Dr, look it up and learn :D
Yes Mum did well on her mini trip out. We popped in to take Dad out to Sains
, Mum was not so good. Was in pain. Have you taken your pain relief? No, not yet  oh dear, what do you do. Take them at least 3 times a day, regardless, keep on top of things, Matron's orders and McMillan's. Being there 24 7 is not an option, much as I would, if I could.
We do what we can do and take it one stage at a time.

Carpel tunnel in both wrists, yes, pain that they are. The Ortho consultant said he could do a tunnel release on both, but the problems would not go away, because of the nerve impingement in my neck -  I sometimes wear my hand splints, but I find it difficult to walk with my crutches when they are on. Holding a phone for any period of time is a no go, typing too. I keep taking pottering breaks :)

The Euro win, well, diamonds, yes, maybe a photo of some. Half a scone as Joan says, would not stretch to the large coffee. Now we have won a lucky did, whooop whooop - You are right Barbara, we say the same as your OH, we are getting nearer to the big one -

Your folding walker sounds ideal Joan, easy to carry on your buggy and there when you need it, to get into the shops. You both take care and love to the doggies too. I could have an espresso and a slice of toast with my winnings.

Mig I will sneak some rhubarb tart and it will be lovely with some locally made ice cream. Tempting Mum I am certain. Talking of tempting, our neighbour came with more cakes, a TRAY of carrot cakes, individual ones, that were going in the bin as they only had 3 weeks on the sell by date !! I know, it is scandelous. Well, I gave 6 to mum n dad and put the other 15 in the fridge  I think it is time to share them out, so please, help yourselves. He said do you want any more :o NO, thank you all the same. He had another 3 trays :o Glad that you have had some good nights sleep.

Good to hear that you enjoyed the food festival Barbara and brought as much as you could carry home with you - It would be rude not to try things, lol
Thank you for your kind words. I was chatting to the McMillan nurse, talking shop so to speak. She asked if I missed nursing, I said, I miss looking after patients, but I do no miss the endless pen pushing and meeting targets, that is not what nursing is about in my book. Yes, you need records, but patient care comes first.

Congratulations to your G son Kath, you must be so pleased and proud, as everyone will be. You always read negatives in the press about falling exam reults, they don't tell you of the good things and the rewards of working hard.
Did you manage to get some rest and take your Methx ok. Was thinking of you.

Right, I had better move, I am setting into the shape of a chair. Hi to everyone else too, Christine, Elizabeth and all.

I forgot it is bank holiday week end. Time for some chilling out - famous last words.
    Lots of love

update on the building site..not Roman...my mind running riot again  anyhow it is older that 600 years has it was under the path of the old farm that was 500 years old and they had found a bone that ended up being form an horses hind leg..so thats that
Joan you are right the council seem to hit the ones that need these things first..hope you are both doing ok...
Kath Chester has done brilliant there you must all be very proud of him..bless I bet he was over the moon when he opened them
Aiden the nurse on the ward were saying the same everytime they did anything off the went for the paper work..its not on the end of the bed now..unless this hospital is a one off it was kept in cabinets at the top of the room..then the physio would take the notes ans sit for ages writing..unbelievable... suppose your mum has her own m ind and will stick to it... :)
Not seen Christine for a couple of days..I dont think...hope all is well ...
Been out for breakfast...egg and bacon on toast..I never eat it at home but let me out and I am away...

Friday afternoon is officially Methotrexate day, no side effects yet. Haven't started my others yet. Will probably get letters from hospital after Bank Holiday - will let you know dates when I get them.

Chester will get a £50 cheque next week. Emily will get a cheque too, to put towards her new car when she gets one.

Joan, thank you for the complement. I'm blushing now  :)

Aidan, I despair about peoples' ideas about sell by dates! The thing that bothers me is, if they are worried about being made ill, why are they giving it away? :?

Toni, sorry you had to attend a funeral. It seems that Daisycat has forgiven you. Hope the splints help your hands.

Barbara I would have loved the food and drinks fair, especially with the celebs there. There was one in one of our towns this weekend but nowhere near as big as yours. I can go in to a deep sleep around 6, usually when I need to get up for work. Hope they don't stop your bus. They should use a smaller one rather than stop it altogether. I couldn't eat a full breakfast at home but can if I go out for it.

Aiden, it is a good thing that the Macmillan nurse is not afraid to talk about things. I'm glad your mum went out for a scone and latte. Good for her. You won £2,80 on the euro. Hope you don't spend it all on one thing. My son had a carpel tunnel op. He actually watched it in the big light that was above. It didn't work so they operated on his elbow. That didn't work either. 3 weeks on the sell by date of the cakes? That is scandelous but good for you getting them.

Mig, I used to like Deal or no Deal but it got very boring after a while. I too tend to have 2-3 good nights sleep then 2-3 bad nights.

Kath, hope MXT is helping you although it might take a while for it to kick in. Congratulations to your grandson on his grades. I agree if they feel the cake is good enough to give away, it must be good enough to sell.

Joan we had heavy rain during the night but it gradually cleared up during the day. I think the umbrella walker sounds like a great idea.

I haven't been in for a few days. Everything seemed a bit hectic. On Thursday afternoon, I got a call from my son saying he was taking his wife to the hospital to visit her 100 year old granddad and would I look after the kids. It was just as well she and her mum went as he died a couple of hours later. On Friday afternoon, I went to the hospital to have my ears cleaned. I didn't get back till 7pm. Everything is so loud now, even next door's hot tub which buzzes all day and all night. I was looking after my youngest GD again today. My son's auntie was having a party but didn't want small children there. My son and his wife weren't happy but didn't want to let everyone down. We had a good time though. One of the teddies' mouth was full of cavities so we had to fill them then he got to spit them out. Funny how little ones don't quite grasp things.

Evening to one and all, hope everyone is as ok as possible and enjoying the extended week end. Not that I know what day it is half the time.
Well, we had a huge thunderstorm 4am Sunday morning. Did I hear it, not a thing. Those zopiclone put me out like a light. OH and all the neighbours said they were awake as it was flashing, crashing and pouring with rain. :? Bless eh.

You have a lovely week end too Joan, with your buggies and walker you will be off like a shot.

So it isn't a Roman road then Barbara, but it is still old, very old. Our last house in France was over 600 years old, it was amazing. Wish it's walls could have talked through the centuries. You are not alone in mind running riot. I think we all do it.
No, the notes are not at the end of the bed now, just things like food, fluids, observations etc. I used to always rifle through if we were visiting family, my Mum and Dad mainly. All the data protection act has changed things and I guess it is for the best, after all, there are a lot of personal things in your medical notes. More than you think.
We used to have a Kardex system and then the medical notes, it was far simpler and you had time to look after people, plus keep the ward spotless neat and tidy and no more than two to a bed.

Breakfast out sounds very nice, our garden centre does a vegetarian breakfast which is wonderful.

Christine it sounds like you have been very busy indeed, with family, looking after the children and being there for them when needed. Sorry to hear about the passing of your D I L granddad. Such a long life, but that never detracts from the loss of a loved one. I am happy that they got to the hospital in time to be there with him.
You will have to wear ear muffs, to deaden the sound a bit. Once you get a sound, like a motor running, then you tend to hear nothing but and it drives you crazy. I would be watching a carpel tunnel release too, I am sure I would be in the way, lol. I think I will put up with them, for now.........

I am sure the cheques will be most welcome Kath. Good to hear no side effects noted from the Methx
Sell by dates, I quite agree. I am sure three weeks should be more than long enough for anyone buying cakes? Apparently not.
We have not even started on them yet. I am sure they are breeding............

Toni, Mig, Elizabeth, and all, hope you are all doing ok.

Mum was a bit brighter today, taking her tablets regularly, (as matron asked), seems to have helped ease the pain and discomfort. It looks like coffee and scones are on the cards to Monday, plus a trip to Sains
was mentioned. So, we will do just that, whatever Mum wants we will oblige. Mum knows I am a coffee addict in a morning and we both adore the scones. OH usually has a croissant.
We will take the day as it comes.

No more rain today, after the night time lashings of fire and brimstone. s055.gif
It is spider season - which I do not like. OH said there was one in the other bedroom, a015.gif
Glad it was removed before I knew. We are lit up like Las Vegas, apparently eight legs don't like bright lights.

Time to move, I have officially set...............

    Take care, lots of care

    Morning everyone :)

Aidan the 8 legged ones are mating are they? There are toooo many here in our new house. Why won't Daisycat bother with them though??? Light bulbs...must by extra light-bulbs.....

    a030.gif

I am very pleased to here you have got Mum to take her pain relief regularly!! I leaned this myself after my back surgery and have employed the policy rigidly since. Must have encountered my own real-life matron or something!!!

One of our garden centres does a lovely veggie breakkie too..I wonder whether they are part of a chain? I have a purple loyalty card???

The splints do help a little thanks Christine :) I am pretty sure mine is carpal tunnel and might have to be fixed via an op (will I watch??? Not at all sure!!!), due to the fact I can feel the painful clunk when doing certain things like turning car keys etc. Having said that I do have neck issues too maybe your son's nerves had been too far damaged? Then he will still loose that sensation in the relevant fingers :(

I'm really not at all sure you can have a party without children? That's proper mean, but I bet she had a better time with you anyway! :)

I'm glad your hearing is so good now, but sorry you can hear annoying things again

I hope teddy's teeth are ok now

Kath I am so glad to hear the MTX has caused no problems yet and hope it actually helps you :)

I hope you hear something soon about your other meds.

How lovely for Emily and Chester. Will Emily get a retro car?
    Well done to Chester :)

Barbara shame it wasn't Roman, but still very interesting. Like Aidan I wish the houses could talk to us.

I am the same as you only have toast at home, but love a cooked breakkie if someone else cooks it!! Used to always have them at the caravan though when the kids were younger...sigh..

I suppose paperwork on the end of the bed wasn't very private was it :?

Hi Joan I hope all is well with you and Sue. How is your poorly foot doing? Not too sore I hope? As for the Dial-a Ride - it should definitely be saved especially if they have enough signatures!! go to the newspaper!

mig I have them too both hands and this morning they neither of them had them on!!! Lucy has indeed recovered from the festival. So have I hehehe! I can't believe I let her go back

Take care everyone and missing friends too (Elizabeth??)

Aiden, just as well you managed to sleep through the storm. We need what sleep we can get. You're right about the noise. Last night, there was buzz outside that went on all night. I had to cover my ears with the duvet but that made me too hot. I did a search a few months ago and found that people all over the world were reporting what became known as The Hum but no-one knew what it was. I hope your mum enjoyed her trip out today and her coffee and scones. I'm sure you didn't take much persuading. My spider was playing hide and seek with me in the bathroom last night. One minute it was next to the mirror over the sink, the next it was running round the wall and out of the door where it found a hole in the door frame.

Joan, we've done petitions to stop housing. Occasionally it works but not very often but you have to try don't you. Good luck with yours for the dial-a-ride.

Toni, the carpel tunnel op seems to work for some people and not others. My son gets pins and needles in his fingers and sometimes can't grip. They told him they would keep operating further and further up til they found where the problem was but he'd had enough. Sometimes we look back and wonder why we let our kids do things but we need to allow them some freedom even if we worry over it.

Mig, I feel your pain. My neighbours have a hot tub up against their house and the fence between our houses. The pump is on 24/7 so no-one can get any peace and quiet in their gardens and a few can't sleep at night for it. And then there are the parties because they invite friends round to show off. It is possible to report it to the council. I haven't as I'm worried they'd know it was me and I can't hear it at night as I sleep at the other side of the house. Hope it doesn't bother you too much.

Barbara, I did notice you had mentioned my name. Thanks. No I wasn't poorly just seemed to have a lot on. I'm glad you've been sitting in the garden. Best to make the most of it because I don't suppose we'll have much more. Aaaw, don't the little ones look so sweet in their uniforms. And they look way too small to be going to school. Is Niamh looking forward to it? I hope it isn't too much of a shock for her going full time straight away.

I spent some time in the front garden this afternoon tidying up. Didn't really do anything this morning except iron a couple of things. I've got a photo to show you. I'll pop it on in a minute when I upload it. Just now I'm watching what they call 'slow tv'. At Xmas they put on a 2 hour long programme of a woman walking alongside a reindeer in the snow. That's all it was as far as I know. I only watched about 20 minutes and I'd had enough. This one is a bus going through the Yorkshire Dales showing the countryside. There's very little sound but I'm quite enjoying this one. Only been to the Dales once and I loved it.

I think I may be in the process of being adopted. This chap/chapess twice tried to jump through my closed living room window.
