Aidan get the carpals done be brave. Yes it won't solve the neck issues, but will solve some of the problems - I am actively thinking about having mine done. My neck numbness and tingles are not in the same place.
It won't solve the problem of the HEAT though!!! and makes it too hot to wear splints
The cheeses and sun-dried tomatoes are ideal for breakfast mig as for your top - I had a stripey tunic style one from monsoon last year worth a try?
***************coalman's been*****************
Aidan I am with you Barbara should have new carpet if hers is showing signs of thinning.
I had the professional cleaning guy and it was totally worth it. Look round though for offers though.
OMG!! The neighbour's husband had had a stroke and she didn't notice?!!
Say no more about the arach***s I can't even read the word nor the sp-word :?
Ah Christine What a shame getting to 100 with no problems then one fall causing that Mind you same happened with my ex's Nanna. She was hit by a car and had been going into Birmingham every week etc ended up in residential
Did a bit more in the pond yesterday and Charley had a go at cutting one of my hedges the one by the bedroom so it lets more light in
Barbara how lovely Niamh has had a good day I hope this school is suitable for her and she makes some friends soon
The primary opposite went back yesterday so I have been watching them go in and out - I love listening to them and watching the parents, (mostly Mums), pick them up
To Kath I am so very sorry about your son. Well I guess he did have something to hide. He would have hidden from you out of guilt and probably because he knows your DIL is nice, you like her, and didn't deserve to be treated like that
I am sending you extra ((()))
Yes Elizabeth you guessed right and I knew you'd like the fire guard I had the money from selling our old table on ebay in my paypal account so why not?
Why on earth wouldn't they do your little bit on your drive?? That's a bit mean
Glad Dan had a good birthday even if he found the visitors a bit much. I hope your Lucy is ok at school.
Joan I hope all is well with you Sue and the dogs Not too muggy for them.
I hope I haven't missed anyone I started this before the coalman came!! Tea one sugar I'll remember and the sweep (and son) two teas one none one with one. Got it0 -
Thank you for all the hugs. You're all too nice to be going through the pain and problems you have. Sent him a text to say I miss him. Now, end of!
Guess who I had to ring this morning AGAIN. Yes you've guessed. The drains are playing up again. They're supposed to be coming this afternoon. :x
Aidan, never mind you fear of the unmentionable 8 legged things, I would love you to be my next door neighbour."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein
0 -
we are next door neighbours in spirit, if not in the flesh Kath. Thoughts, prayers, positive vibes, whatever people like to call such things, are all helpful, no matter how near, or far. You have done your bit, now it is over to him. You carry on looking after you.
Hope the drains are sorted soon -
I see you have been busy in the pond again, are we at the bottom of it, or is it a bit like quatermass and the pit, lol. More light is good, should mean less sp
s, I will stick to my daft belief that light, conkers and noise, put them off. I know my electric tennis racket does the trick !!
So the coalman takes sugar and the sweep takes none, or is it two, or the other way round. I fully understand. :? :? Oh the thoughts of a roaring fire. Faints online.
Hope everyone is ok and Daisycat is enjoying mousing and voling and shrewing..........lol. Bless.
Joan, that's kind of you to say, sending lots of hugs and well wishes to you both and to the doggies, extra fluids all round. I will leave a huge pitcher of homeade lemonade, with mounds of crushed ice and fresh lime to add at will.
Barbara, have you melted? I am not surprised if you have. We have the AC on and I am still absolutely boiled. The humidity is like being in New York on the hottest summer day ( I remember it well).
I think the cafe needs a bit of a clean, if it wasn't so bl---- hot I would be out with my feather duster.
Gas man has been, we have insurance for home electrics, plumbing as well as boiler. The fan in the en suite had given up the ghost, so we have had a new one put in this afternoon, all the electrics checked, which were to a very high standard of safety, I would hope so too. We don't do sub standard, lol.
Of course he wanted to get to the trip switch board, that is in the wardrobe, so everything had to come out...........just what OH needed to do, when he was boiled from doing the mowing and hedge trimming and bush pruning. I did help wherever I could though.
Now, it is coming up to T and biscuit time. I will go and have a freshen up I think and a shave first.
Hi to everyone else. I must move, I am in my own personal summertime again.
Lots of love, take care, XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Afternoon all..sooo humid...
Kath we are all here for one another..I am glad you have text him..hopefully he will answer soon..(())
Christine I wonder if we are only allowed so many words..
The poor man getting to that age then falling..I hope the funeral went ok..whatever that means....lovely he had a nice happy life that is everything..
Joan it is roasting here today..and yesterday must have been a couple of days ago it poured down but save us watering the garden..hope you are nice and warm..
Aiden..I was thinking about you in this humidity..I think the steam cleaning better wait till winter.. I have heard its better than chemical cleaning they stay clean longer..oh the poor lady not knowing OH had a stroke...I suppose it not always obvious to untrained people..you remind me of a matron we used to have across the rd..she had retired many years ago, but she always had visits of people that needed her or even just info..
Toni..how lovely watching the little ones going to school, same here I love the chatter ..nice of Charley to help with the hedges..wonder if there is someone in the village that does garden part time..and could help..we have one in our rd and he charges a small sum to do gardening because he loves it and it gives him extra money...
I did read that spiders eyes light up in the dark , it was a man that went out with a torch to look for slugs and there were all these little lights..spiders he recons...not sure if I believe it
Had a lovely afternoon with my niece and a nice meal and some gossip...her son is missing the last year at school to go to an engineering college and started today so she was worried he wouldn't like it..right i am rambling..better go
Love to everyone..xxxxxxx
Just spotted you Aiden before you pinched my post..I am wilting... :too-hot: xLove

Just had a text from our middle GD she is 15 and in her last year but said she hates it..there are none of her friends in her sets...I can understand the set thing for different levels but I think people learn more when they are with there friends and happy..
Love to everyone xxxxxxLove

Aiden, it certainly wasn't me who turned the heating up. I really thought I was going to pass out last night. Homemade lemonade? Delicious. Glad you've got your en suite fan sorted.
Joan, we have had sun here for a couple of days. Too hot for me. Hope you are coping with it.
Toni, so you've done a bit more of the pond. Steady away and you'll get there. Hope you are getting plenty of light in now after Charley's hard work.
Kath, I hope you have heard back from your son after texting him. We have shallow drains too. We used to have to pay to get them cleaned each year but they have now said as it's not really our fault, they will do them for free. I don't know what to choose from the menu so will go through everything.
Barbara, don't think I'll be going out in the dark looking for spiders or anything else. Just been out to through another slug out. The kitchen floor along the back door and cupboards is covered in bleach now. Glad you had a lovely time with your niece and put the world to rights. Your poor GD. I hope she makes friends in her set. I think they do learn better if they are with people they know.
Mig, it's been really blowy here today too as well as heavy showers.
The funeral went very well. My DIL's dad had been asked to do it all. We were a bit worried as he is a very emotional man but he coped very well, telling some funny stories which we could all believe. My poor eldest GD sobbed her heart out most of the time and I think it was that which set me off. She did manage a few giggles too though. As he didn't want a fuss, there were only immediate family and a few close friends and we went back to my DIL's mum's house to remember more happy times.
Dentist tomorrow. I have a tooth which is being pushed out by other teeth so think I'd better get it seen to before they push it right out.Christine0 -
Spiders with eyes shining back at you, oh Lordy, that would finish me off.  I won't be nipping out with a torch Barbara.
I hope you are a bit cooler today, I knew you would be wilting. It has been wonderful being so windy, blowing some of that terrible humidity away.
I cannot say I am cold, but I am a lot cooler tonight, than I was 24 hours ago. Please let that be it for silly temperatures, it is AUTUMN now, sorry, I am shouting. Hair done and coloured too. Very nice. I have begged OH to cut mine down to nearly nothing at the week end. I cannot bear having hair longer than half an inch. Makes me even hotter, if that is possible.
Hope you GD settles down and makes new friends, I see your point with regards learning and bouncing ideas with friends.
Glad you had a nice time with your niece. We are meeting up with ours tomorrow, at ner---, so that will be good, not seen her in a while.
Promise no more reading about spiders with their shining eyes. lol
Kath, the menu sounds delightful. I will start with the puddings and work my way through them first Glad that the drainage has been sorted, always a good idea to double flush. :?
Hope you are ok and the Mtx is working.
Just seen you there Mig, I will take your puds, if that's ok with you. Ta very muchly. Hope you are ok too.
Loving it a bit cooler Joan, we did have some heavy rain this morning, which was lovely, I didn't mind getting wet at all. Love to you Sue and doggies too.
Wasn't it just terrible Christine - if we wanted that sort of weather we would all move to Miami.
Yes the fan in the en suite is just fine. We have the bathroom fans on most of the time, keeps air moving and takes some of the heat out.
Good to hear that the funeral was a fitting tribute. Tears and laughter, I remember my parents funerals were similar.
Good vibes for the dentist, am sure all will be ok, with the necessary aneasthetic of course. Did I spell that right? Mmmm.
Toni, hope you are ok, you are not in the pond are you................
We went out for coffee and scones with Mum and Dad, which was nice. I have been meaning to put a picture on of the garden centre.
I rang the DWP or whoever it is that deals with ESA. I just wanted to make sure they had received my thesis safely.
I was told yes and the decisions have been made, I will be in the support group for the next three years and then review. Am so pleased that they continue to see sense. My Drs will be pleased too.
I will wait for the letter to come so I can see it in black and white, to make sure. It is all so stressful and really affects my health.
Anyway, I am rambling. I had better post this before it vanishes. Everyone take lots of care. XX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Morning all..been up and down all night so gave up at half 6ish..one good thing I usually sleep better the night after...
Christine glad the funeral went ok, you never know with these things..its good to have a giggle ..has well as sobs..your poor GD ..I hope she can hold onto the happy times...good luck at the dentist hope its goes smoothly...my eldest GD has a tooth that is doing the same..let me know if you find a way of keeping the slugs out..
Aiden...I feel like I have just been on holiday in the tropics... much cooler this morning..sorry about the info on the spiders but I was fascinated with the shinny eyes..not tried it our though.. a lovely pic with all the lavender...you enjoy your time with your niece..
Went to the garden center yesterday and actually got a seat by the lake ..all smiles we were because it was much cooler..then guess what big drops of rain..so we had to run inside..me run well you no what I mean..then OH had to carry the scone and coffee..
Love to everyone especially thoes that are missing..xxxxxxLove

Sorry Aiden I meant to say Im so glad the DWP is sorted..now you can relax for a while..Love

Hello Kathleen Mig Barbara Christine Aidan and anyone else I missed.
Kathleen I hope all the upset has not made your pains worse.
one day your son will say sorry to you.
Mig I think your washing should dry we have wind as well.
Barbara yes I agree its nice when they have their friends to talk thinks over with.
Christine yes we like the warm weather it helps with the pain.
I hope you get on alright at the dentist.
Aidan how is your mum in law doing. your garden centre looks good I see the tables and chairs.
take care everyone

Afternoon Joan very windy here and lots of those tiny brown seeds blowing in the windows too  I plan to do toast on the fire for definite!! We had a go in France one year, but their bread is very odd
Hi Barbara I hope the scone didn't get wet at the garden centre?!!!
A horrifying thought
I hope your GD's tooth can be sorted out.
Let's hope tonight you get a better night's sleep. I won't as Lucy (why??? WHY??!! she has surgery on Wednesday???) has got a 'trial' behind the bar at the nightclub :?
Your hair looks lovely BTW
Did I tell you Aidan about the two spi***s I found in the bathroom behind the towel rack? I put it back as Paul was away and my friend who is not sacred was due yesterday. So she moved the rack - no sp**ers?? How odd. WE concluded that they had in fact been mating in kept still because they were embarrassed when I found them
It's much cooler today here and very breezy, but not anywhere near cold enough for the fire
Get you hair off I wish I could.
I am absolutely fine just had a visitor and a man putting 'up' loads of stuff, mirrors pictures etc that would cause Paul to swear. By the time everyone left I was far to exhausted to come online sorry
I hope you enjoyed a nice coffee at Nero's with your lovely niece.
Great news ESA is sorted for a good while and the garden centre looks lovely really posh
Christine thank you we have much more light now that Charley hacked the hedge. Thank you I can see almost to the bottom of the garden now.
Might do a little more pond clearing in a mo.....
Your poor GD sobbing like that. Such a shame, but sounds as though the funeral was a good one. It's always good to have laughter as well as tears.
I hope the dentist can save your tooth  and without pain too.
mig it's very blowy here too, but occasional drizzle so can't risk my washing
Kath I am going to make my way through the puds starting with the Hazelnut and orange biscotti and wondering what Italian-style bakewell tart is like too??
I hope you are feeling ok now your pipes are cleared ( ) and continuing to send ((()))
Right better get on
Love to everyone
Toni xxx0 -
Aiden, quite dull here all day but warm enough for no sleeves. Just nice with a bit of wind. The garden centre looks very pretty and inviting. Brilliant news that you will be in the support group. I know what you mean about seeing it in black and white but you can relax now.
Barbara, I have tried bleach, salt, metal strips, spray cleaner and slug pellets but they still come in. Hope they can fix your GD tooth. How lovely to sit by the lake but not the rain. Hope your scone didn't get wet. Fingers crossed you get a good night's sleep tonight.
Joan, quite windy here too but I didn't mind as it kept me cool.
Toni, Lucy is working behind the bar? She'll probably love it but maybe would be better to rest up before her surgery. Embarrassed spiders. Ha ha ha. You could be right about them. No need to say sorry. Glad you got all the jobs done.
Just watched the launch of OSIRIS REx. It's a rocket which is travelling to an asteroid called Bennu to gather samples. My name is on a chip on the rocket. It seemed strange watching it thinking my name is now in space. It'll be back in 2023.
The dentist said that the bone of my jaw which holds the tooth is crumbling and so the teeth are moving. The one which is being pushed out is right at the edge of the bone and will probably be pushed further out. I could have it taken out and it will only leave a very small gap. Thinking about it for now.Christine0 -
Seeds, don't mention seeds, we are covered in them Toni. It seems to be nationwide. No idea which type of tree they are coming from, but the car was covered, every time you open a window, they all fly in..................Goodness, if they all grow, we will be one big forest. It has been blowing a hoolie today, nice, lovely temp, at last ( although I see it is going to get pretty hot again next week, oh joy).
Spiders had been mating in the airing cupboard you think. OMG. Perish the thoughts. I throw things into ours, just in case there is a spi--- lurking. I can cope with sorting it in the day time, but not of an evening / night. Let's hope they move to a new house, for when the little ones arrive :?
Lucy has a trial behind the bar, I am certain she will do just fine and no, I can imagine you will not be sleeping well, with her being out and worrying about Wednesday. We will all be with you and on pocket duties for you and yours, have no worries about that one. Matron will have his nose into every move.
Hope everything is up nicely on the walls, we don't want Paul swearing as well as overheating.
Thank you we did have a nice chill out at Nero's, with niece and partner. Lots of coffee, panini, cakes, just what was needed. Of course it sent my blood sugar low.............obviously I need double helping of cake, simples.
The Garden Centre is lovely, we know the staff so well now, been going in for a long time and they look after us very well indeed.
Steady away with the pond, it must be very deep
Joan, Mum is doing fair thank you hun, she has been out most days, not for long, but, a change of scenery is a good tonic. GP is keeping a close eye and the Mc Millan nurse is just fab u lous. We have a natter about nursey things when she visits and she is so good, great sense of humour, but tells it like it is if you get my meaning. No point beating about the bush, when there are things to discuss and talked over. Hope you, Sue and the doggies are all ok and managing to avoid the rain and get out and about.
Fancy having to run in with your cakes Barbara, after all the waiting for a table, that's not fair. I know what our running is like, you could call it "steady away" I certainly would struggle with a scone and rain and two crutches. I would have to pop the whole scone in my mouth, for safe keeping, lol.
Glad we are all a bit cooler, it was getting a bit much, heading to autumn and 20 degrees at night, it is not proper.
I wonder what else you could use in the battle against slugs........you seem to have covered most things already. I know they don't like a weak sollution of garlic water. Maybe try it as a mist spray. Just boil a few cloves, the use the water as a slug repellant. I remember the garden man on tv mentioned it. T Tree diluted in a spray, would also be another one to try and more pleasant smelling :?
so you have gone into space, way to go Christine. I saw the write up and pictures in the press. It is a long time to be away...........Mind you, the distances and light years and black holes and a boundless universe, are far too vast to even imagine. i find it fascinating and incomprehensible all at the same time. Professor Brian Cox is great to listen to, about space and time etc.
Having the tooth out sounds like a good option, we will come with you, of course.
Right. I am set like stone, cannot feel my hands and have to move. Love to everyone here and not in the cafe at the moment.
Everyone take lots of care, as always. XXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Morning all..warm again last night unless its just me...
Joan it makes sense to keep children with there friend..you are right they can talk thing over with one another..its not good when they are isolated..Hope you and Sue have a good weekend..
Aiden I will certainly try the spray I had not heard of that one..I remember the McMillan nurses when they visited my brother..they didn't hold back and my birther appreciated it...they were so good in every aspect ..even trying to get him a bungalow..but it was sadly to late..you made me laugh with the scones..I just wish I could have taken a pic ..but my OH thought we were leaving the half a scone ...so he is trying to eat the lot..with me looking back and glaring at him..
Toni I have so much admiration for Lucy..good for her going for the bar work..she is one strong minded lady and that will help her through life..will send good vibes and prayers for Wednesday..think its a resurfacing she is having much better that a THR...especially while young...and glad you got all the lttle jobs out the way in one go...send him round here... some hugs for you and Lucy...((())) xx
Christine..you have your name on the rocket..how brilliant how did that come about..sorry if you have already said...that tooth and the bone sounds nasty..hope it comes out of its own accord..rather you have to go back with it..
Right if I dont move I will set..
Love to everyone xxxxLove

It was warm for me last night hubby nearly closed the bedroom window I had to open it wider again.
Daughter came home from work with bags full of plums and apples from one of a group of elderly gents who have a box at the cricket so all morning I've been peeling chopping and cooking them,we have 3 plum crumbles plus 3 tubs of stewed plums in the freezer and I have made 1 apple pie the rest of the apples will have to wait a day or two till I sort the freezer out.
It is still raining here and its grey and cloudy.
Take care all Mig0 -
Hi Joan, Toni, Barbara, Mig, Elizabeth, Christine, Kath and all..........
Hi Joan, Mum's legs are not as bad as they were, thank you for asking. They increased her frusemide and that has helped. I am keeping an eye on them daily and Dr is seeing her once a week, plus McMillan, so all eyes on legs, lol. Don't want any blisters to burst or for her to knock her shins..............so far, so good.
Nephew and family came over to see mum n dad today, only a short ish visit, so as not to tire mum out too much. They are all ok, well, nephew has to have a kidney biopsy nect week, as his renal functions are falling. (he had a transplant 18 months ago). Hoping all will be well and they can kick start it to working again, usually with steroids.
I don't know, we are all a right lot. We need putting in a bag and shaking up. Hope you are all ok Joan and have some warm weather to ease those pains.
Apart from that we are chilling, a pleasant day, warm, but not in meltdown at the moment. I keep seeing the temperatures going up for next week.
No plans for Sunday, oh, I will have a hair cut, OH has said I will be shaun the sheep. Happy Days.
Hope everyone is as ok as possible, including Daisycat and all families.
I will away and fuss. Leaving blueberries, greek yoghurts and ganache cheesecake. All in the fridge Oh and scones of course.

Hi all sorry to be so late on. Had a busy day, (had to rescue Paul when the van gear-box went - not the van the AA did that!!), today and a late night - stayed up waiting for Lucy to get home.
Well she got the job and yes I also say GOOD ON HER what is she like though? Told them about her op and they were fine with it.
She's in again tonight, but I will fetch her in Mum's taxi as she's earing £5.30 an hour for 5 hours and the cab fayre is £14!!
She's have a core decompression. They are drilling multiple holes into the head of the femur to where there is actually a blood supply. Might/might not work, but as you said Barbara it will delay THR. Shoulder sadly had gone to far so that will have to be a new one.
She also received her City and Guilds Certificate from Francessco's in the post. I know it's not A* and she can't learn to drive, but she did it while on chemo having seizures and two duff joints
I am very very proud of her sniff sniff....
Love
Toni xxx0 -
We are all proud of her you too Toni. Mig0
-
Absolutely proud and then some - Well done on getting the job Lucy and good that they are ok with the op, more congratulations with the city and guilds as well. We will be there, all of us.
Rescuing Paul as well, it's all go.
I am sure the operation will be ok, I know it is a difficult time, stressful, emotional, worrying, mind in a whirl. Sending abundant hugs winging their way. Sniff's are fine and there is always a big box in the cafe.
Right, better go throw some pots around in the kitchen. I am good at that.
Take lots of care, one and all. XX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Thank you mig and bless you
you too Aidan even more I bet your OH appreciates how hard that course was for her with a duff hip and shoulder!!
