Oh Good I am glad to see you Aidan - not glad you've hurt your back though

Ah yes clearing out for the fitters! of course!! We have lots of those wires too do they multiply.

I think Pepe was covering for Diddicat for sure....and according to her he does know where his litter tray is, but is manipulating his Daddies!!

Thank you for your kind comments about Lucy we will do all of that and more I promise :)

It will get sorted on way or another :)

Today I am off to Lichfield for my friend's wedding anniversary. We will wander around and reminisce. Her husband died probably 7 years ago now of cancer. The sun is shining on us, but first the plumber is fixing my rads.

    Love

    Toni xxx

Ps Joan nearly missed you then - thank you it WILL get sorted xxx

Sorry for my absence. Since OH and I updated to windows 10 , we've had nothing but trouble.

Sorry to hear Aidan is in pain, but pleased that Lucy's teeth and jaw is OK. She's had more than her share of problems.

I hope your computer settles down soon Kath :(

    That is so frustrating :(

Thank you at least it's not in Lucy's jaw yes :)

Barbara we had lovely weather!! It was a great morning we had some tea and cake at one of the Macmillan 'do's' and lovely lunch out too.

One of the ladies last night had slugs in her loo cistern
Can you imagine sitting there with them behind your behind?? :?

The pest-man got rid of them. I think you are right about yours ours were in the cavity of the wall...shudder!!

    Love to everyone

Aiden, I bet you feel better for having a clear out. Such a pity you have to pay for it though. Not for too long I hope.

Joan, the slugs can climb as far as my sink so can probably go further. Hope you and Sue have a good weekend.

Toni, it'll be good for you to meet up with your friend. Hope the weather stayed fine for you to wander. Not sure I could use the loo if I knew there were slugs behind me. Sounds as if they get everywhere.

Barbara, can't say I'm glad I'm not the only one with a slug problem. Hope we can find a solution. I think it's too early to think about Xmas but, as you say, it's much easier to get a bit at a time for carrying things and money wise. A good laugh with a friend, or your niece, is definitely better than meds.

Kath, I've heard of a few people having problems with Windows 10. Hope you get the problems sorted out soon.

I passed my exam. Can't believe it but I got 93%. I'm sure they didn't mark it properly but I'm not telling them. I'm spending some time now typing up the scribbled notes I took. That's if I can read them. I've got a Life Coaching course lined up but won't start it yet. I need a break to let my brain settle back down. :too-hot:

Evening to one and to all. Yes, I am writing, before midnight, wonders will never cease.

You are right Toni, Pepe knows full well where things are, he just has me round his little claws and milks it for all his worth. He might well have been covering for Diddicat, he was in a giddy mood.
Good to hear that you will fight for Lucy, anything we can do, we will do, - petition the MP, the Hospital, whoever.
Yes, the wires do breed, like rabbits. At the back of tv's, they wrap themselves into knots and are designed to infuriate humans.
Hope the radiators were fixed and that you had as good a day as possible, talking over past times. Lunch and T and cakes, wonderful. Getting the GP into the local shed event and having him on side will be good. That sounds rude, but you know what I mean, lol.

Slugs seem to be a problem. In the cistern, oh my, I would not be able to wee.
I know we have them lurking in the garden and sometimes they are stuck to the back door, OH flicks them. Never seen any inside though, yet. :?

Kath, sorry to hear you have having pc problems. A lot of people have had issues since windows upgraded to 10. We have had a few glitches and had to do a reinstall a couple of times. hope it sorts soon.

Oh Barbara, it sounds like all out war with your slugs. I am sure you will win. There must be something about the summer weather that has caused such an invasion.
Glad you enjoyed your time with your niece. A tonic to the system by all accounts. Putting the world to right is always good.
We have not done a thing today, with regard carpets. We went out for lunch instead LOL .
It will look lovely when it is all done. I am sure OH will have the stanley knife out at the week end. I will help where I can and stop if I cannot.
You do right planning in advance for Christmas, getting things when you see them, is a good idea. Saves all the last minute chasing about. We get vouchers for everyone, so they can buy what they want.

93%, that amazing Christine, well done you  We knew you would do it, with distinction. A little time out won't do any harm. Give the grey cells a breather. I am thrilled for you.
Wish your slugs would go away.

Joan, hope you are ok and enjoying your trips with Sue and the doggies riding tandem.

Lunch was very nice. We had the table next to the cake counter again, but, as usual, I was too full to eat any. The Rocky Road and the Brownies (which were huge), looked fabulous. They also had peanut butter and chocolate chip cake, that looked good, even though I am no fan of peanut butter.

The maintenance man came this afternoon, sorted a squeaky floor in the lounge. He is coming to sort the accessible shower too. He will put shower board up, instead of new tiles. Cream marble, which will look very nice. Then I can stop having to risk life and limb in the en suite shower. Lurching in and out is not good.

Right, it is pills time, once more. Then a shave I think.
Off out to the garden centre in the morning with mum n dad. Cannot miss out on scones for more than one day.

Hi to everyone else. Take lots of care. XXXX Aidan

    Good morning Aidan :)

I am very pleased to her Mum and Dad will be able to go to the garden centre with you this morning for tea and scones

I think these might be chocolate, but...

    t19121.gif

I am very very pleased to hear that the maintenance man has been and shortly you will have a useable shower. I like those boards you mention. We had 'glass' boards in our kitchen instead of tiles at the old house. Not safe for the shower, but no issues with mucky grout :)

    c055.gif

Gosh you just reminded me of a dreadful experience...I once couldn't open the back door at our old house. After much yanking I discovered a slug which I had unwittingly sort of yanked in....half

    p017.gif

This year, Aidan, it will be plenty of vouchers/cash from us too for Christmas. I think it will make life easier and most nieces and nephews are now getting old enough.

Oh CHRISTINE :) 93% We all definitely knew you could do it! Many congratulations to you well deserved as well you have worked hard :D

I couldn't sit on a loo with slugs in the cistern either....shudder.

Pest man says bed-bugs are the worst thing to get rid of and also that he is sacred of......moths!!!

Right onwards and upwards for me today - I think one of our tropical fish is on her way out :( Gone awful quiet :(

    Not yet read back...

Got our new car on Tuesday. I had to look everywhere for the spare key but couldn't find it and thought I'd lose part or all of the good condition bonus but received the full amount yesterday.

Pouring with rain here, luckily OH hadn't hung out the washing before his trip out today.

Neighbours were burguled yesterday daytime. We were up and about, in and out of the back garden but didn't hear a thing!

Elizabeth xx now to read back!

Nice to hear you are getting the house all carpeted Aidan. I can remember the odd bits of donated carpet I had when I first moved in so couldn't wait to get it all redone. It makes the house look so much tidier. Are you getting a carpet fitter to do the job or fitting it yourselves? Cream marble sounds lovely.
Sorting out for my Sons bedroom killed my back too Aidan.
We have drawers full of wires and chargers! I'm sure they do multiply Toni!

Sadly none of the children followed my gymnastic footsteps although charlie was good at ballet. Most recently the council shut our local gym down so the youngest 3 gave up. None of them are into sport
No wonder you are worn out Toni. Sorry things didn't go to plan but keep on at them. Poor slug but my Dad once witnessed a poor pet budgie getting shut in the door when the owner tried to stop it flying away. He could see it and didn't know how to break the news to the owner as she was telling him how much she loved it!
You lost your Yorkie....so sad...honestly I'm still gutted after all these years.

I did love the blue badge video you posted Christie. Wish we could have similar done here. Well done on your exam results, they were impressive. How lovely the family are flying back for Christmas (I'm trying to avoid that word).

Oh Kath what a nightmare! I did laugh about going to the loo-I'd have done the same. The bleeding hand can wait! I have read about windows 10 causing lots of problems and even wrecking people's computers.

I might bump into Boris next week. I could take some of those slugs with me as a present if you want (I actually like picking them up).
Neighbour had rats in her loo cistern, think I prefer slugs any day. What odd Homework for you GD Barbara! Vouchers as presets are lovely for youngsters as they can go and enjoy the shopping experience too.

My Liz Earle clean and polish has almost run out! I just have a travel bottle left now. My fave perfume (from the White company) has been discontinued but I did manage to find and stock up on ebay.

Better weather tomorrow. Keep those dogs nice and dry Joan and save the walking for tomorrow.

    Love to all

Aiden, I am glad you did nothing yesterday except go out for lunch. You did plenty to get ready for the flooring. My two eldest GC want clothes again this Xmas so it'll be money for them. I wouldn't dare buy the clothes. With teenagers it has to be just right. Two mornings in a row, I've checked all round and not seen any signs of slugs so I hope they've moved out now. Hope you got your shower board up and the shower is safe now.

Toni, how horrible getting a slug stuck in the door. Yuk yuk yuk. How strange for a pest man to be scared of moths but these things can't be helped. Hope your fish is ok. While my boss was away, 2 of his fish attacked another and killed it. These fish have such sweet innocent faces but I don't like them any more.

Joan, it was quite nice here this morning so I washed my bedding and clothes and hung them out. A couple of hours later, I looked out of the window and it was raining heavily. I got soaked bringing everything in and had to put the heating on to get it all dried.

Barbara, not sure I would sink in all the wires. I'd be worried in case it all had to be ripped out for repairs. If you're not in a rush for new curtains, you'll be able to wait till you see exactly what you want.

Elizabeth, yippee you've got your new car. And you got the full bonus. That was lucky without the spare key. How awful for your neighbours. I think in full daylight, not many people would bother if they saw someone in and out of someone else's house. You wouldn't expect it was a burglary. The video was funny. Wish I had the guts, time and post-its to do the same.

Thanks everyone for congratulating me. I've had to put the heating on to get the clothes dry as it got soaked a couple of hours after I put it out. It feels like being abroad on holiday. :too-hot:

An early morning / just after midnight. Been watching the Ryder Cup and getting quite involved. Not as good as our tennis, but it is worth watching.
Yes, all was ok for the garden centre trip on Saturday Toni. We went earlier as it is always packed out. We were wise to do so, by the time we left it was bursting at the seams.
Chocolate scones, now, there's an idea to try, mmmmmmmmmmm Thank you kindly.
Definitely looking forward to having the shower boards put in, as you say, no grout to go mouldy, (no matter how much you clean and bleach, there is always one spot).
Ewwww, a slug that glued your door shut - not nice.
BED BUGS - they are on the increase again, especially in hotels. I would freak out completely. They can be caught on sellotape under the back of the matress, when they come out of the hiding places to bite you. People mistake them for bed mites, but these blighters are big enough to see and squish. Fortunately I have never had the misfortune to see any. (Now I will have to go clean something).

You enjoy your week end too Joan. I think the main coffee is Columbian, that they use at the garden centre. It is my fav, apart from Nero's, who use their own blends

A good idea of your neighbours to sink all the wires into the walls Barbara. I guess if you were having a new build, then it would be easier to do. I daren't look behind the computer, it is like tagliatelle.
All those things still to move and sort. OH is pacing himself. Some of the lounge carpet is up, hall is all loosened off. I think the lounge is the worst one to do, as there is always so much furniture to sort. I am sure the fitters will help move things from one side to another. I will make coffee :)
At least we are having a sort out and throwing things out that have not seen light of day for months.
McMillan is a great charity to support. It is sad really that they are not fully funded by the Government, as they do a fabulous job in very difficult circumstances. Shame, it really is.
I know, I didn't have a cake, I am remiss and can only apologise. I made up for it with a scone on Sat and will have another on Monday. (pus we have some lemon tarte in the fridge from Mar---)

Glad to hear that you have your new car Elizabeth. Full rebate too, which is good. Only a month till we get ours now. don't worry about the key, they can soon get another from the manufacturers
How terrible that your neighbours were burgled, in broad daylight. People stop at nothing. I hope they are caught and locked up, but that won't happen, they would be hard pushed to tell them off in court, in case it upset someone.

DEfinitely getting the fitters to do it. Not a hope that OH could manage and I would be as much use as a chocolate T pot. Leave it to the professionals, they soon have them kicked and shoved into place. There is still so much to sort and move, but we will get it done before Wednesday.
I might not be on much over the next few days, if computers are being moved out of the front room.

Oh a budgie being squished, OM goodness. I bet they were mortified.

I am avoiding the word Ch
s too, it does not hold good memories, My late Dad being so ill on more than one festive season, then Mum passing away on New years Day. My BIL passed away just before Christmas, then Sister, 5 weeks after. So, to be honest I am glad when it is all over and the next year has started. Sorry, I don't mean to be maudling.

NO, don't run out of Cleanse and Polish, quick, off to Boots asap. I know I got the last lot as a special value on QVC, but I normally get it from Boots. I love love love the instant boost tonic. Have you tried Decleor Prolagene, it is AMAZING. We have a huge 400 ml tube of the gel.

Glad that you have not spotted slugs Christine, let's hope they are moving out, the colder weather might send them scuttling into hiding.
It will be a week or so before the man can fit the board. Don't mind waiting, he is very good, but very busy.
Canibal fish, slugs, squashed budgies, rats in the loo, oh it's all going on, lol. :o
I think I will pop the heating on a while, before bed. My legs are cold.
Well, it is October, therefore I freeze. There is no logic.

Right, I will make a move and potter about. I will try and get on as and when, but it might be later in the week.
Everyone take take care. Hugs to all, keep safe. XXX Aidan

Good morning Joan - I hope you have lovely sunshine like us here :)

I am off to the Church to help with the clear-up this morning. Tia is in Wales at her bf's parents' caravan.

Aidan we went to our garden centre yesterday too because they do my brand of filters for the fish's filter. They had their usual AMAZING Christmas decoration display there almost ready to unleash upon us :)

Is it the entire house you are having done? if so I really don't envy you :? poor OH too oh dear :( Mind you, you will not regret it once it's done :)

    We lit the fire!!!

Charley and her gf and me (Paul in Coventry - no I didn't send him  watching car racing), it was fabulous. Used one of those recycled 'fire logs' you can buy from supermarkets. Easy peasy!!

All these posh cleansers and gels.....I use soap and water and some number 7 moisturiser

Christine when I had boy fish (mollies) they could be aggressive and once I only had half a one in there and bless her she was still alive :( Once the boys were returned to the shop we had no further trouble. This will be old age and I am sorry to say she will die, but not yet maybe one or two days yet bless her. She is 'ok' but quiet if you know what I mean.

Definitely the heating was needed, but it can be too hot still just now. I went round turning the heating down super-low in all the bedrooms so I can heat the house, but still sleep!!

You deserved our congratulations - we all know how hard you have worked :)

Elizabeth It's a shame none of your kids had your talent, but such is life you had it and lovely memories too :)

Thanks - I won't let it rest about Lucy. we had follow up apt letter yesterday 29th MARCH - I so nearly ripped it up :x

I am very pleased to hear you have your lovely new car and the bonus too :)

What are you going to do when you can't get your perfume  I am horrified!! we have sunshine here today after a dreadful rainy day yesterday I hope you do too :)

I am sorry about your neighbours - you take care.

I have a last set of curtains to buy for in here Barbara. they weren't cheap, but we do need them. It was so cosy with the fire last night :)

I hope you manage to find yours, but if you don't yours will probably be fine as you say with a wash and freshen :)

Daisycat was livid yesterday with all the rain - a proper nag-puss after treats all day as she was so bored. She still braved going out for her toilet trips though avoiding the litter tray!!

    Bless her.

Right better get ready to get muddy!!

    Love to missing friends

Aiden is it next week you get your new flooring? The most important job is making the coffee. No work would get done at all without it. At least we'll know where you are if you're not in here. It is very difficult to enjoy the 'festive' season when you have lost loved ones around that time. My sister lost her 5 year old daughter and her 18 year old son 5 years apart at the end of November. The year she lost her daughter, we had Xmas in the middle of November.

Joan, quite a nice day here today but I wasn't in the mood for going out. At least I could see it was a bit sunny out of the window. Have you been out over the weekend?

Toni, I do love wandering around the garden centres when they have their Xmas displays. Oh you lit your fire. Bet it looked lovely and cosy. Cleansers - I use olive oil now and again. Otherwise just the water in the shower. Fish can be so cruel. I remember being upset for weeks after my goldfish died when I was a teenager. I don't blame you wanting to rip the appointment letter up. It's nowhere near good enough.

Barbara, I gave my drier to my son as they needed it more than I did. I'm thinking of getting a small one as I don't want to have to put the heating on just to dry the clothes and I don't think it's a good idea anyway. That was good getting a few things from the craft fair.

Didn't feel like going out today but used my time getting bits and pieces done. Dining room table which is my office at the moment has been cleared and tidied, summer clothes sorted in to keep and packed in to a box out of the way or charity bag ready to go and caught up with recorded programmes.

    Spicy squash and Spinach soup

    1 tbs quinoa
    1 red onion diced
    8oz deseeded butternut squash, diced
    1 stick celery diced
    1 fat garlic clove, crushed
1 thin rasher smoked streaky bacon, 15g finely chopped optional for vegetarians
    Quarter tsp dried chilli flakes
    1 sprig fresh thyme
1 litre home made or reduced salt stock
400g tin borlotti beans in water, drained and rinsed
Freshly ground black pepper, 8-10 turns of the mill
    1tsp red wine vinegar
    Small bunch fresh basil

Dry fry quinoa in a large non stick pan, over a medium heat, until tuned golden and smell toasted
Add onions, squash, celery, garlic, leek, bacon, chilli flakes and thyme for 5-7 minutes until vegetables start to soften
Add stock and bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 mins
Add tomatoes, borlotti beans and pepper, simmer for 20 mins or until the veg is very tender
Put 2 ladles of soup in a blender with vinegar and basil. Blitz until smooth. Return to the pan with the rest of the soup
To serve, finely shred a small handful of fresh spinach per serving. Put spinach into heated soup bowls and ladle hot soup on top.

Barbara the check up with Dr Tim is tomorrow. Thank you we should be there for around 11am so from then on until at least 1pm

    I am kind of scared....

I do hope that chap who has epilepsy is ok after his bump. Does he live close by?

I don't go to the racing only Paul - it's cold and uncomfortable for me.

Hi Joan I am glad you had sun we have again today. Yes I am happy to be part of the community. There is a meeting tonight at the church I shall go.

Oh GOOSE fair mig!!! I wish I could be there!!

    Have a great time :D

Christine our poorly fish is safely in the 'nursery tank' set up this morning because they had clearly 'had ago' at her overnight. They often do if one is ill :( She's still alive and eating, but won't last more than a day or so. No way will she be frightened in her last days.

You had a productive day I reckon there inside the house :)

It was sunny, but chilly unless you were in it.

the fire was lovely :) Soo cosy. Daisycat does sometimes sit in a greenhouse outside.

I expect Aidan is having carpet done???

Love to Elizabeth and any other missing friends :)

Mig, it was pretty cold here today first thing but warmed up as the day went on. I've heard of the goose fair. Hope you enjoy your walk round it.

Joan, we had a lot of rain here on Saturday too. Quite a nice day today once the mist cleared and it warmed up. Yes there's always something to do at home.

Barbara, I leave things like t-shirts as they can always go under a jumper when it's cold. I've put away my dresses and very light tops. I hope the young man was ok and not hurt too much.

Kath, the soup sounds delicious. I often buy a bag of spinach and end up throwing most of it out. I might try the soup. Thanks for the recipe.

Toni, your poor fish. Not much more you can do for it. At least, it can have some peace. We'll all be there with you and Lucy tomorrow. Hope it goes very well.

The younger of my boss's 2 boys if off back to uni tomorrow so I've ironed all his t-shirts. Work will be a lot easier for a while. Got home and realised it's the last garden waste collection tomorrow and I hadn't filled my bags so quickly cut the grass and cut down the loosetrife. Any more will have to go in the compost bin or the normal bin.
