Excellent news. My GP brought a flu jab, but until I've checked with the hospital, I don't know how soon I can have it after the Rituximab. So she gave it Chris. My blood pressure is normal. I asked if she would reduce my Fentanyl patch, as there has been some improvement in the sciatica. So I'm dead chuffed. O yes, she's arranging for the 'falls' team to see me.

mig, I'm glad you got your printer sorted out.

Barbara, I'm so glad your pain clinic went well.

Joan - a rat. :o I'm glad your neighbour disposed of it for you.

Love to all. Aiden, Christine, Toni. xxx

Phew Kath I was worried there for a while.
We went to cash and carry with our son and then he took us out for lunch a very nice unexpected treat.
What happens at a pain clinic ? I'm just curious.

Hi to everyone, late as it is. Why is it that when you are retired from a job due to ill health, there are still not enough hours in the day.
I have tried to read back, but my head is not taking it in.

The carpets are all done, apart from the door plates and heat sealing the join in the lounge. That will be done Sat morning. I think the cats will have to have claws trimmed regularly, we are finding pulls on it already. :o
Toni, the pictures are great. No, I would not be able to balance a crutch like that. I might give it a try though :)
I know that look from diddicat, we get the same, in triplicate. I love the cows, wandering along. Beautiful spot I must say.
Good that you had a catch up with others at the clinic.
Sorry to hear about the little bunny. There is another epidemic apparently, I remember the last one, it was horrid to see them, blind, just falling over...........bless.

Barbara, I hope that the increase in your meds, helps. I take the same, 400 mg pregabalin and 75 amitryp. The Rheumy Dr wanted to start me on 800 Pregab and 200 amitryp. I said not a hope - I will take what I think is helping as much as it can, always leaving some wiggle room to increase as required. He wasn't a nice man at all - Bedside manner of a spitting cobra. I refused to go back and I opted to see my GP for any reviews. I think they have a pain clinic at our surgery, I will have to investigate. Glad you are keeping up with necessary cakes. :D:D

Joan, there was a dead rat...........oh DEAR. I would have asked for someone to remove it too. Then Pepper went in and gave kisses. Glad you can have the heating on. It has been chilly, morning and evening. Yes, I did say it, chilly. We have had the heating on for a while, soon warms up.

Kath, you have been shopping I see. Pressure cushions are good, I could not be without mine. We have two in the lounge. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Mig, did you mention an 8 legged sp==== I think so. Best pop it into the cauldron asap. Hope you are feeling better. Huffing is good, gets rid of residual air in the lungs. Hugs.

Christine, aready getting into the festive season, with advent calenders. Mind you, I bought a HUGE tin of biscuits from Ma--- today, half price. Now, we have to eat them. Might manage it. I am fully medicated and keeping a lid on pains as best as I can. It has been a VERY tiring few days, so we will need to recover for a while. Trouble is, the more you dull the pain, the more fuddled you become. :?

We have had two Nero visits, Friday and Sat, lots of cake, met up with niece and took mum n dad too, so that was nice. More cake, more coffee - I think I was a bit "wired" with caffiene today, lol.

Right. I have to move. I have set. Hattie is on tonight, then George will cover the week end on the ward. All seems neat and tidy, someone has been keeping an eye on things. Thank you.

Till tomorrow. Love to all, hi to anyone I have missed, Elizabeth, hope you are ok.
    Take care XXXX Aidan

    Morning Aidan :)

Oh lovely :) I am very glad to hear the carpet is down and just ends to tie up now. Yes definitely claws will need to be kept short!!

I thought you would know that 'look'!! We know when they don't approve don't we?

I am glad to hear you managed one or two nero visits with all that going on probably did you good :) Is Mum still doing ok?

Sunny here, but I lit the fire for Lucy last night it was chilly and she loved it :D She is still down after the shoulder appointment.

Still no call from the Prof with a figure....

Came into the ward at 0522 with a migraine to howls of laughter from Hattie such a great atmosphere and as you said immaculate.

mig I am glad to hear you were treated to lunch and hope you got some bargains :) I think I need a new printer :(

Kath - BIG BIG PHEW!!! just the flu vaccine!!! hehehe!! I hope Chris didn't mind having it  Lucy is allowed any non-live vaccines now I think.

Barbara - thank you the families and kids are so happy to be given the all clear, but you sort of live in a state on permanent anxiety????

The one Dad and daughter who we saw - he keeps on thanking ME!! They were terrified when they arrived at the YPU and I had a chat (well several) and told them how great it is there how all would be well etc etc but their daughter got better all on her own. She's working now too looks fabulous :)

I am so glad the drive is done and dusted today hubs will be aching

Joan - poor Sue!!! I bet she wanted to disinfect her face!!!
Glad the rat is gone. I don't mind picking up Daisycat's prey either but they are all small so far so not heavy.

Watching out for more rabbits as there is an epidemic again locally apparently.

    Love to everyone.....Elizabeth ((())

The house smells of cauliflower got an enormous one from the farm shop it was only 75p,had to get hubby to start cutting it was very solid and I couldn't do it,so have got to make a large batch of cheese sauce, good job we all like cauliflower cheese, will put a lot in the freezer.
Printer is fine now,we think it was the cheap paper I had brought very flimsy.
Hope you all have a good week-end Mig

Kath I read the flu jab doesn't work in the first 6 months, something to do with anti bodies. I was reading up because Dan is due one at school and I didn't know if he should go ahead as it might cause me some problems.

Wonderful news Toni. Remission is a beautiful word. Sorry the shoulder news is not so good, she really needs that to be sorted. I will need to read your thread in more detail as it seems it is a successful op in America?
Loving the pictures, your garden looks gorgeous and you can get a feel of your beautiful village by the photo. I think my crutches are too worn out to succeed at that trick.

I'm being kicked off the computer by Daniel. I shall return having read back and having lots to say...

Thank you for that information Elizabeth. I read this on Arthritis Research.
    "Flu and swine flu
The symptoms of flu (influenza) can be worse for anyone with a weakened immune system. If you have a long-term rheumatic disease or are taking steroids or disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) you should have a flu vaccination. Carers of people falling into high-risk groups can also be vaccinated to reduce the risk of passing on infection.
If you're being treated with rituximab, you should try to have the flu vaccine either before an infusion or 6 months after an infusion. This is because rituximab affects the cells which produce antibodies for about 6 months after each infusion. If the flu vaccine is given within 6 months of a rituximab infusion you may not be fully protected against flu.
Each year the seasonal flu vaccine is changed to provide protection against the flu viruses most likely to cause infection that year. Your GP will advise whether the seasonal flu vaccine will provide adequate cover against swine flu or any other new flu virus that may develop in the future." Ishall ask on Monday, but I strongly suspect I won't get one this year. Chris has a flu jab anyway, so we were both glad he had mine.

Toni, sorry to hear about the rabbit but yes, it would have been horrendous for the poor thing. I might try to fins a sweet shop in Melbourne to send advent calendars. It's between £2.50 and £3.50 to send birthday cards from here. How wonderful to hear of someone else with the all clear. Hope the lad who was poorly doesn't have anything wrong with his hip.

Joan, good that you can still use your heating. It is getting quite chilly in the evenings now. Pepper playing with a rat? Poor Sue. Hope she felt ok after Pepper kissed her.

Barbara, I don't think you can be too old for advent calendars. I've seen ones with make up and nail varnish in them for the older girls but they are about £20. My daughter's two ate all of their chocolates at once last year. We had the tea party on Wednesday. It went well. The little one helped grandma blow out the candles on her princess cake. The little one chose it. Phew, the drive is done. Bet your OH is glad it's done now.

Mig, glad you've got your printer sorted. Hope you got what you needed when you went shopping and that you enjoyed your lunch.

Kath, see you didn't have to worry about your GP coming to see you. Some good news. Hope you find out when to take the flu jab.

Aiden, I have a whole extra day off work now but still don't have enough time. I think I'll be the same when I leave work altogether. It is difficult to keep the lid on the biscuit tin or chocolates tin, isn't it? I wasn't going to but ended up getting 2 big tins of choccies for Xmas. My excuse is that my daughter and family are coming to stay just after New Year. And, of course there's Halloween soon.

Elizabeth, hope you can decide if you and Dan should have the flu jab. I should be getting a letter soon asking me to go for mine. Two nurses were at my dad's care home yesterday. They said they had done 2000 so far this year.

Went to see my dad yesterday. He mentioned his birthday was coming up. It's on 31st October. He told me someone had told him it was also Halloween and that he had never realised that. Felt a bit strange because when we were kids, he used to tell us that he was a wizard and his dad was the devil and now he has forgotten that. Got my letter today to book in for my RA check up at my GP's surgery. I think they'll do my flu jab while I'm there. They did last year. Managed to get my washing outside today and almost dried. Hmmmm, what else did I do? Errmmm, nothing. :deckchair:

Joan, I wonder why you can't get cauliflowers. Maybe the weather has been wrong for them. Sometimes they are really expensive. You'll be glad to get your heating fixed in time for the winter.

Barbara, I hope little Niamh is feeling a bit better by tomorrow. Glad you've got all your meds sorted. Hope they are improving things.

Toni, no way do you need to apologise. We know you are often busy or tired and that you have migraines. Hope you and Paul feel better tomorrow.

Another almost nothing day. Got my little bit of ironing done and caught up with some tv I had recorded. Hope everyone who hasn't been in is ok and just busy.

A late post to say hi to one and to all. Thought I would just drop a line, using my laptop, as my main pc is being sorted by OH and it is not behaving.

Toni I hope your migraine eases as soon as possible, they are terrible. I get focal auras, like a rainbow effect, very odd. Hugs to you and Paul and Lucy. Man flu is really the worst kind, I will arrange an extra bed on the ward. I think George has gone now and Sister Duffy is on duty, from Casualty a long time ago.............
Hope the Prof gets back to you soon, then we can start a big campaign. I am not surprised Lucy is feeling down, extra hugs, it will be ok. Apologies for not replying to your other post, when the pc is back up and running i will shape myself and have a good look through the posts.

Joan I hope Sue has got over the shock of being licked by ratty kisses - i would have had kittens.

Barbara I hope you are ok. Looking after everyone, hope Niamh is feeling better very soon. I would have to eat all the chocolate advents too, one a day, i don't think so. Cheeky pus cats coming in and clicking your carpets. Ours seem quite unphased with the new carpets now. It is lovely to walk on bouncy soft carpet and also have wood effect vinyl in the hall and en suite, easy to clean.

We will all have to come round for cauli cheese mig. I love it, so I will book a seat please. It does whiff a little when cooking though.

Having a quiet day is fine Christine, sometimes it is just nice to do nothing. We look forward to them, they seem a rare event at the moment. No sooner is the day started than it vanishes all too quickly.

Elizabeth hope you are ok and have had a good read -

Kath, sending hugs, I doubt they will give the flu jab. I have had mine and oh has too, as he is my carer. A lot of people confuse a cold, with flu. True influenza can be life threatening and needs good management in hospital or the home.

Hope i haven's missed anyone, if I have, apologies. I am fading and the laptop is rather precariously perched on the arm of the chair, so everything will go crashing soon.

I will love and leave everyone. Take lots of care. Hopefully I will be back on a proper pc tomorrow. XXX Aidan

Christine a quiet and catch up day is always good and recharges the batteries :)

I also hope Paul gets over the cold soon. My nephew brought it into work and had it for a good week although his diet is poor so hopefully.... :?

Aidan I have a feeling Paul will like having Sister Duffy I charge :) I am doing my best to get him better ASAP because he has to go to Scotland (tomorrow I think???) this week.

I think Paul is planning to chase the Prof's secretary today. I will phone and remind him later bless him.

THEN we can start to do something yes :) I have also made her an apt to see the GP (earliest is 25th with a lady).

I think I am over the migraines for now. This happens to me as I've got older I have a 'series' of them. Were you around when I had the 4 day one? Optician sent me to the eye hospital who reassured me it was migraine auras based on being temporarily colour-blind. It's true, but only works if you aren't colour blind anyway.

Mine are like someone has cut a huge chunk of my vision out cut it up and put it back in the wrong order and then they can wiggle it too for good measure!!

I am glad you are still loving the carpets :) I bet it's a pleasure to wake up and see them :)

Someone once said to me that you know you have flu (not a cold) when, if someone said there was a £50 note on the floor by your bed....you wouldn't be able to or want to pick it up! I think I have had it only once and it was dreadful

g025.gifHope your PC is back today

Hi Joan. My migraines tend to last about 3/4 days these days, but used to be only 2. I can't complain poor Charley gets hemiplegic ones where she looses feeling of her arms face legs etc. I didn't realise you were left handed. Is Sue too?

Aiden, Sister Duffy visited Casualty a few weeks ago. She didn't stay long but now she's helping out here. She is lovely. I love the smell of new carpets. How lovely to have bouncy ones. I've noticed a lot of people complain of having the flu but they carry on with life as normal. I think they just like people to think they are worse than they are so they get more sympathy. I remember as an 18 year old going to my GP convinced I was dying of flu. I was gutted and embarrassed when he told me I only had a cold.

Joan, there are a few people not far from where I live who now have artificial grass. It doesn't look too bad but I still prefer real grass.

Toni, I hope Paul is well enough to go to Scotland. did he manage to catch the secretary? Was he chasing her round the office? :swim-shark: Glad to hear the migraine is over. Hope it stays away. It sounds terrible. I didn't know you could lose the feeling in your arms, face and legs. Poor Charley.

Barbara, I look things up on the internet if I have computer problems. The only time I couldn't use the laptop, my sil happened to be here and was able to connect his to mine to sort the problem out. I wouldn't have any idea. My ironing is often a huge pile. The only reason there was only a little bit this time was because I didn't have much to do at the time or I would have left it.

I called in to the health centre today and have made my RA check-up appointment. The reception said she's booked me in at the same time for my flu jab. 2 weeks tomorrow. I bought 2 lovely glasses from one of the charity shops The woman said I should go home and have a glass of hot chocolate in one of them so I think I'll have that now.

Yes, the pc is up and running like a dream - happy days :splash: OH is a terrier when it comes to technical things, he won't let it go until it is sorted.
I digress. Hi to one and to all.

Toni I am glad the migraine is over, they really are horrible. OH has focal ones, where half of the vision is blocked out. Few and far between. Poor Charlie, the ones that affect your limbs are just dreadful, it is like a total neurological melt down.
Hope Paul is feeling better and glad that Sister Duffy was able to help out. I would have gone along, to Scotland, love it love it, want to live there. I would have taken lots of scones. I do seem to recall your long lasting migraines Toni, in years gone by.............

Barbara I am glad that Niamh is feeling better, as is Mum. There are a lot of people coughing and spluttering at the moment, we try and give them all a wide berth, difficult if you are in a queue at the till, apart from wearing a face mask as they do in Japan.
Don't worry about the ironing, it will get done. I did what seemed an endless amount of shirts the other day. I don't mind ironing, I can shuffle about and the end result is always an improvement :)
OH has to get the ironing board out of the store cupboard, I tried and sent everything crashing, so I am banned.:lol:

Well done for having a tea and cake for me, most kind of you and hope you enjoyed it. More present, you are organised. The one thing I dread is writing cards.

Christine, you are not alone when you thought you had flu. A lot of people used to turn up at casualty with a cold..........bless. Now they turn up with broken acrylic nails and ask for them to be fixed !! You cannot believe it, then again

I hope you enjoyed the hot chocolate in your new glass. Good that you are booked in for your flu jab and RA appointment at the same time.

We went out for lunch today, to our fav tea room. All was lovely, as usual. The weather is just wonderful at the moment, dry, sunny, but cool. Bliss.
The Ponies came to see us as we walked back to the car.
    20161010_125022_zps8bcw3uk5.jpg

The field was full of Canadian Geese, never seen to many. Not sure which way they are migrating, north, south :?

I didn't have a cake, t'is true. We sat next to the cake counter, but I am always full after the meal. I did look longingly at the tiffin and the Victoria sponge....................sigh.
I will make up for it on Wed, our anniversary. Mum n Dad are taking us to the garden center for brunch, so it will be veggie breakfast and then a scone, plus lots of coffee :D

Well, I had better make a move, it is getting very late, or early, whichever way you look at the time. I am a bit chilly, might put the fire on low, while OH is not looking.

Everyone take care, hi to mig kath elizabeth and all.

I had my 2nd infusion yesterday. All went well, but I don't feel too good today, very tired. How did you get on Elizabeth? I can have my flu jab in 3 weeks time. My sciatica appeared to be improving, but today my left thigh and knee is awful.

Hope everyone is as good as can be. xx

Aiden, I'm watching a programme called Ambulance just now. It's unbelievable what people phone for an ambulance for. Someone said he was outside and he was cold, a homeless man had been in hospital but walked out with a cannula still in then phoned for an ambulance to take him to a different hospital so he could get a sandwich (I kind of understand that one) and I couldn't believe the number of stabbings in London. How lovely to see the ponies and geese. I'm not sure which way the geese go. Just in case I don't get in tomorrow, happy anniversary. Have a lovely day.

Joan, I did enjoy the hot chocolate. I found some recipes for putting other things in the chocolate to flavour it but I can't remember what they suggested. Hope you are having a good week.

Kath, I hope you are getting plenty of rest and you feel better soon.

Barbara, I'm sure I saw the nuddy man on tv with his back pack on wandering around the countryside. Wonder if he keeps going in winter.

I was waiting at the bus stop today at T*sco. There was a young schoolboy nearby and another young lad joined him. When the bus pulled in at the bus stop, I moved forward but a few feet away from the bus to wait for people to get off. The 2 young lads went straight in front of me and got on the bus and had to squeeze past the people trying to get off. The drivers usually ask people to wait but he let them get on. I was going to say something but I was too tired to be bothered. Next week, I'll be standing with my arms out to stop them.

An early morning to everyone. Late as always. I just do not know where the days go and why they go so FAST, sorry, I was shouting.

Joan, I forgot to say hi yesterday, I do apologise. I hope you and Sue and the lovely doggies are ok. Keeping warm now that the weather has gone to autumn. No more ratties? That's good to hear. Have they fixed your boiler yet? I am sure we will have a lovely day, thank you.

Kath I hope you are feeling better soon. Hugs for the pains to ease as well. I could not nap earlier as my left knee was hurting so. Must have come out in sympathy with yours. Let's hope today is a better day.

I have heard about the man that walks the country in the nude Barbara. Never seen him. We used to see the man dressed in a monks habit, he was always so happy, waving to everyone. It is natural to wear nothing I guess.
I was going to go back into the T room to ask for some bread for the ponies, but we had to get home. The geese were so noisy, all chattering away.
I am going to be greedy and have a veggie breakfast and then a scone, for brunch. I will force it down, somehow. :)
It will be 16 years, but 9 years since our Civil Ceremony. We did not sort that out until we came back from France.

The programme was right Christine, the time and money that is wasted on pointless ambulance calls runs into the millions. I remember one GP said that he was called out to see a patient who had passed wind and his wife was worried.  I had to laugh though. I won't repeat what the Dr said.
Do they add a chilli pepper to chocolate to bring out the flavour, I am sure they sell chilli chocolate in the shops.
I should trip them up if they try and push their way onto the bus. How rude of them. No manners. Then if you say something, you end up with a tirade of abuse. Very sad.

Hi to Toni, Mig, Elizabeth and all, hope things are as ok as possible.

Better move, it is 1 in the morning and I am already chair shaped.

Everyone take lots of care. I think I saw Hattie and Matron in the ward.
