I also wish Len's bunker was still up and running like in the old days, I wonder where fat Kev went to?, and although Val's been gone a while not a day goes by without me thinking of her, she was the matriarch of this site bless her.

Toni, I saw a Halloween hairdo on FB. The hair was put in to a ponytail. 4 thick black pipe cleaners were put through the hair under the ponytail. A bun ring?? was put over the ponytail and the hair tucked over it. Next the pipe cleaners were bent to make knees and feet and the feet tucked in to the hair to secure. Eyes were fastened to the top of the bun and hair pins added to secure everything. Hope the little yorkie is home by the weekend. Thank you but no need to thank me for donating blood. My niece needed a few blood transfusions so I feel I am only giving it back. And you never know, I might one day need one myself. Thank goodness you have saved Halloween. I was worried for a while there with Mig cancelling.

Kath, wasn't it you who said you'd lost an inch a short while ago but thought it might be because you took your shoes off? Seems you really had lost the height. Hope you are in less pain today after falling out of bed.

Barbara, I can donate blood again in 3 months as long as my haemoglobin levels are back up. It was only because it could have made me feel ill if it dropped any further by giving blood. My GS has apparently wanted to send the postcard for a while so he was excited. Unfortunately, he had also posted one to his other gran only two days before she died so she never got to see it. I'm hoping it doesn't upset his granddad too much. I love the garden centres at this time of year but as you say, they are packed.

Aiden, a super mario window cleaner. Mine and my boss's are both very short and a bit round. Don't think they are related though. What a pain having to go back again with the trousers but can't be helped if there was no money left to give you. George and Dr Kildare? I feel more swoony that ever.

Mig, I'm sure we can keep Toni from cleaning the cafe till after Halloween so can we please have a party now?

Joan, you'll probably find things quite difficult for a while after your op but I'm sure things will eventually be better for you. How will Sue cope? Will you both get some help?

Morning Mell. Good to see you in here. Kettle's on.

My daughter skyped me last night. It was morning over there and she had just got up. She passed her phone on to my GD while she got ready for work. We went wandering all round the house showing me teddies and toys and she took me to see my GS who was still asleep in bed. He was probably awake soon after. I was planning on going in to town today but my eldest GS asked if he could leave his new bike here so I've got it in my kitchen. Waiting for him to pick it up but goodness knows what time he'll get here. He stayed with a friend last night.

Well its not still up and running and he only had himself to blame. He went on and on at the mods, a lot of posters were advised to 'sit on their hands and not respond to him' ( I've still got the messages) and finally the mods patience ran out.

I also lost a lot of friends on here and I don't go on about it.

Christine Lucy had probably 30 pints you know and I will be forever grateful to people like you who donated (they sacked me because I fainted too many times :() it.

Elizabeth loads of people left who I loved too including some since the rehab days. Cris Skezier for one :(

Valval was a truly nice genuine lady too always there to offer a kind word to anyone who was in trouble Mell RIP Valval.

That hairdo sounds amazing! I would have loved to see it. I'm sure mig will allow us a party now if I promise to keep my marigolds off for now :(

Skype is fabulous isn't it? How lovely being able to see 'into' your Gkids' home like that and even wake-up your GS.

Little yorkie managed a wee outside with some help, but can stand on her back legs yet.

Aidan - Lucy is feeling better, but I didn't know she hit her debit card HARD she was so upset :?

Did I tell you all about Tia's Gdad? He drove into the local petrol station - I mean into it bless him he's ok as is everyone else, but I suspect this will be his licence gone. His feet are the size of melons you see (honeydew not watermelons) and got stuck.

I had to visit him as Tia was in Ireland on hols, Paul (his ex SIL), in Ireland with work and Tia's Uncle in Oxford.

I just wanted to tell him it will be alright :(

Yes it's a good job postie knows what he's doing here isn't it?

Glad to hear Mum is ok and that district nursing as well as Mcmillan are now involved. :)

Barbara Charley and Lucy are ok now - not sure about him, but I don't care about him, just my girls!

Can I borrow Niamh for Lucy - sometimes she struggles to sleep bless her :)

Lucy is very good with hair and gentle yes. She'll get back to it soon I hope.

Love to everyone and those missing....Carol?

Where did you all get the idea it was a party ! its a serious spell casting event --- to get rid of grumpy old men and women if there is a so called thing.

Every forum no matter what it is about have their odd balls and this one was and is no exception (not that Im thinking of myself you understand ) but there again it takes allsorts.

Elizabeth, that must have all happened before I joined. I don't remember it.

Toni, wow that is a lot of blood. I've tagged you in the FB video of the spider hairdo in case you wanted to see it. I'm so glad the little yorkie is getting there. I'm sure she will be fine now. Poor Tia's granddad. Glad he is ok. Such a shame if he does lose his licence.

Barbara, it is amazing isn't it how we've gone from never seeing family who emigrated to being able to see their day to day life. My GS sent me a text to ask if he could leave his bike till tomorrow so I got out this afternoon.

Mig, we will all be very serious while we cast the grumpy old men and women spell but pleeeeaase can we have a party afterwards?

I decided to get the train in to town today. No conductor and no ticket machine at our station so a free journey there. As I sat down on the train on the way back, there was an announcement to say they couldn't sell tickets on this train as the ticket machine was broken so all passengers must have bought a ticket before boarding. How were we supposed to know? It was another hour till the next train and it would be dark before I got home so I wasn't getting off. My son phoned just as I saw the conductor coming down the aisle so I told him I might be about to be thrown off the train. I explained to the conductor who said there should have been an announcement at the station. Another passenger backed me up when I said there hadn't been an announcement. The conductor then said there was nothing he could do about it so I wasn't to worry. Think he was quite annoyed at the position he was put in as the train was a 3 hour journey to Manchester airport. And they announced that there was only 1 toilet working on a long train.

 :o Goodness, the cafe is unrecognisable. Toni, you have done a marvelous job of making it look like Miss Haversham's front parlour.
At least environmental health saw it before the place was turned upside down.
Hope is it better for your potion and spells Mig. I have found a couple of things to help. While I wait for photo
to load, I hope you had a good time on the Emmerdale tour....

Well, it looks like I cannot add the special things for Halloween, maybe tomorrow the site will work, grrrrrrrrrrrr

I hope all goes well for your foot operation Joan, it will be a big improvement for you, but a long time in plaster, which is a necessary nuisance. Mum is not too bad, we will see her today, as the district nurse is coming, to kind of get their services in the loop of care needs.

Don't let me see the arrival of the spide-- Toni. Shudder. The place does look very spooky, which is only fitting for the spells and potion to be effective. Kind of Diddicat to help towards the gathering. Bless her.
I too miss those who have passed or are no longer on the site. Val and Trish, Val was an inspiration and so kind when my Dad passed away. Trish and I would while away the evenings, nattering into the wee small hours.
Glad Lucy is feeling better, even if the debit card has got a headache - ooops.
Oh dear, going into the petrol station, goodness GD was lucky. So glad no one was hurt. It might well be the end of his driving, as you say.
Too much fainting at blood donating. Oh dear, it happens to some, even the big burly ones, who think nothing will phase them. lol. 30 pints is some going. Every gratitude to those who donate.

Are you going to try the hair do Christine :too-hot: :D it sounds impressive. Maybe we should all try it for Halloween.
That's a shame about your GS sending the other card and it not being seen. I am sure it will be kept and treasured though.
The garden centers are lovely, but busy busy, especially with half term. You have to get there in good time to get a table. (Not something that bothers me :D ).
I know it is a bit of a pain, to get the refund, but, I might be taken for coffee and cakes, so I will go, under protest.

Talking of refunds, I looked at the receipt where I bought the other trousers a couple of days ago. First on the list was a cross your heart Bra, size 34 C  :?:lol: I said to OH, did I buy a BRA the other day??? Er, NO. LOL
Anyway, he nipped in today and got the money back. It would have been too small anyway LOL LOL. Always pays to check. I was chuckling for ages.

I am going to have to tie my hands up, the need to clean the cafe is very strong. The ward has moved to a field hospital annexe, it is wuite nice, warm and cozy, with extra beds. Hot lips Houlihan is the nurse in charge tonight. George is on call, but only for severe swooning.
Glad you enjoyed your skype chat and house tour, it's amazing what technology can do when you think about it, even in the last 30 years.

Glad you had a good time with your Niece Barbara, you say she is a tonic, which is lovely. A wee bit heavy on the diet coke, very gassy :? Breakfast with Santa and 100's of little darlings. Nah, not my cup of T, but I am sure it is good fun, we know the young lady in the g Center who organises it and she is fab with the young ones.

The train fiasco sounds terrible Christine. Glad the conductor saw sense and was ok about it. One loo on the whole train. Oh dear. It will need a good bleaching.
I am sure we can have a party after the spells and grumpiness has been eradicated.

I think I will start mine now. Its my Birthday, so we will be out for lunch, even if I have to walk :lol: :splash: I don't count years, or grey hairs. I will leave a huge amount of cake in the ward area for all to enjoy.

Hope everyone else is ok, Carol, Elizabeth and all. Everyone take lots of care XXXXXX Aidan

I certainly don't do thinks by halves as my old mum would say if she were still with us.

yesterday after having problems with bank and having stupid foreign call centre staff and getting absolutely nowhere. I go down to our high street for my dinner as I went to cross the road my front wheel hit a pot hole walker tipped and forward I went with it and ended up in the kerb, with my right leg trapped in it somehow managed to get up with help, and back on the pavement to discover that I have twisted the frame. At the moment only three of the four wheels touch the ground. I managed to injure myself in the bargin. what a hell of a day was glad to go to bed last night, although didn't sleep too well for worrying about how I was gonna manage without the walker. :(:)
    Stay positive always👍xx

Yes please mig when you can remember I put mine on photobucket and then it gives me a link for forums :)

Carol - you poor thing - I bet it also hurt your dignity  Can Mr Turbo come in handy to try and straighten the 'leg' of the walker? If not, and anyway if it's weakened it too much, it might have to be a new one :(

Thanks Joan I hope your day is good too. So it will be after CT scan then so not imminent. I'm glad they can help and the carers will be around too :)

Morning Aidan and a very happy Birthday to you :)

    t3337.gif

    Hope this helps a bit

    t98038.gif

I have left a bag of 'tails and entrails' for mig from Diddicat some are a bit smelly too!

Very very wise Matron to reconvene the ward to the annexe totally pristine isn't it? Hot Lips is a great nurse and hopefully won't need to call on the services of the Doc :?

    tooo often!

Tia's GD was very lucky bless him, but I agree I think that should be it now - stick to his super-duper scooter!

Christine the yorkie is able to feel her hip so hopefully that means she is beginning to recover feeling below her 'waist' she is allowed home to be spoiled rotten by her two Mums tomorrow :)

Yes Lucy needed the blood to start with due to the leukaemia in the end it was the chemo. We used to hide the bag behind her Joey Essex calendar on her pump-stand. The units are all different sized did you know? They take HOURS to go through, but platelets only 30 mins.

It's a good thing the conductor on that train had some common sense. How scary though for you. Those ticket machines are a great idea - when they work!!

Barbara I am very pleased to hear you had your tonic yesterday - time with your niece :) I bet she feels the same about you too.

    I hadn't thought about the party..-er....serious spell-casting mig sorry

necessitating a 'clean up' afterwards. I have booked our local rat-collector to help. He does for the police after 'incidents'

Hoping Tia's Gdad is ok now and feeling more himself bless him.

Been out this morning to the Drs...got some extra tablets  for migraines - clonidine - and dropped car off for it's service. Got a Qashqai as a courtesy car.

Thank you all for your kind Birthday wishes. We have had a lovely lunch out, courtesy of our neighbour, who bought us vouchers for the garden center.
Mum and Dad enjoyed it too. The district nurse had been this morning and had a good chat, they are keeping mum in the loop and will check on her every couple of weeks or as and when needed in the meantime. Mum was much brighter today, which was lovey to see.

Can we use another photo server other than photobucket? The site is down and has been nothing but trouble. Not happy.

Ok, looked back and Toady's kind words have helped me post the shoes that have been ordered for halloween. Not sure how I will get them on, two strong men and some goose grease maybe :o:lol: that sounds all wrong, but you know what I mean..............

    witch_shoes_by_atunacosplay-d6qceze.jpg

    Witches-Cauldron.jpg

I hope the extra eyes and legs will help with the spells to ban all grumpy beggars.
    CAULDRON.png

Joan it is good that you have carers coming in and they will help you as needed I am sure of it. You have been through this and more besides, let's hope it help immensely. I did eat well today, haddock, chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce, then a lovely scone and lots of butter, coffee etc................stuffed now, like a turkey.

Thank you for the flowers Barbara and the kind comments. I do try and keep a wry sense of humour going. It is essential when you are lumbered with arthur in all its guises, along with other health problems, like so many of us here. I know, fancy adding a bra to my shopping bill - wonder if she was trying to say something  :lol::lol:
OH dear, I hope your BIL Brother is ok, how sad, I wish people would not drink so much, it is just terrible how it wrecks lives. I saw it all too often, at the sharp end of nursing and also after years of drinking too much. I wish him well.
No, indeed, no partying, it will be serious casting of spells. Then we might have a cake, if we have permission and ask nicely.

Oh Carol, (wasn't that a song by Neil Sedaka) you are tumbling over as well, sending many hugs and well wishes to you too. Hope you manage to get the frame sorted, Physio will get you a new one asap I am sure, if you give them a call. I bet you ache today.

Glad you enjoyed the trip Mig. They used to film the outside scenes at Arncliffe, up in the Dales, then they moved to nearer leeds.
Toady's instructions work well, on how to post photo's. P Bucket is offline at the moment...........rolls eyes.

Oh yes, cake always helps Toni. I think the Mummy and the entrails will be just fine. :!: Diddicat really is pitching in to help. Pepe is having nothing to do with entrails and the like, he sends his apologies. We have a double air lock into the ward, so no untoward "things" can get in. Yes, Hot Lips is a wonderful nurse, she is on tonight as well. Then I think Sister from the Royal is on for three nights, with Dr Cameron on call. (Boy that takes me back).
Glad you have some pills for the migraines, I have heard of Clonidine. A Quashqai as well eh, very posh. Oh, we get our car a week on Monday, I forgot to say. The man from the garage rang a while back and said your car is here, (under lock and key), as you have to wait till the 7th, to change over with motability. WELL DONT TELL ME IT IS THERE THEN AND I CANNOT HAVE IT - oh I am sorry, I am shouting. That is like here's your scone in the middle of a rope bridge over a ravine. He was laughing bless him. I said I will be there, 0900 on the 7th, mark my words. Pressed up to the window.

Well, I had better post, or it will vanish, then I would throw all my teddies out of the pram.
Hi to everyone, Elizabeth, Kath and all. Take lots of care XXXX Aidan

GREAT smilies Aidan :) and I am very pleased to hear your birthday has been a good one. Mum being on form will have made it a good day I know :)

There are other sites you can use I just can't remember them for photos....

Toady did a great 'sticky' thread didn't she?

Talking of sticky I can see why Pepe doesn't want to have anything to do with the entrails... :?

How WICKED plain WICKED! To tell you your car is there, but you can't have it??

and on your birthday too

My car is back safe and sound and clean enough to go on the ward if needs be!

Am I in the right place? Looks like Dracula's house in here. Great for the spells.

Aiden, happy birthday. Hope you've had a lovely day and extra cake. Glad mum is doing ok and mum and dad were able to join you. I won't be having that hairdo. My hair is too short. Taking the trousers back is a good excuse for cake. I'm sure you'll need a rest. Wonder how it happened that you had a bra on your receipt. I think some people use dropbox but I've always found photobucket works just fine. Love your new shoes. The cauldron is bubbling nicely

Joan, that's good if Sue's carers will help out. If you've had your foot in plaster before, you'll know what to expect. Hope it's not long before you have your ct scan.

Barbara, it's no wonder the train service doesn't have the money for repairs etc when they don't even collect the fairs. I did hear that we will be getting new trains but it takes quite a few years to build them. Sorry to hear about your OH's bil's brother. Still young so such a shame.

Carol, those potholes are a menace. That must have hurt a lot. Can the walker maybe be repaired? Hope you're not in too much pain and you get some sleep tonight.

Mig, hope you enjoyed your trip to Emmerdale. Looking forward to the photos.

Toni, I bet the yorkie's mums can't wait to get her home. No I didn't know the blood units were different sizes. I thought it would go in as quick as it comes out. I think I did read somewhere that platelets were quicker. Hope the tablets work for the migraines.

My boss was back from holiday today but no sign of last week's wages. Just hope he's got enough money for two weeks at once or I'll get a cheque which won't clear for another week. My GS picked up his bike this afternoon and said he and his friends were going for a bike ride to the big park in the next town. I do worry when they're out on the roads as they are so busy.

Christine how old is your GS? I know I would worry too, biu if he's helmeted and lit up and has a light jacket on???

The 'units' do vary. When your child is proper ill you want a BIG one! When they feel ok they want a small one!! It has to go in slowly, but Aidan can probably explain why.

I know it takes 3 bags of blood to make 1 bag of platelets though ;)

    I know too much

Well I really hope the boss has cash ready for you otherwise it's unfair expecting you to wait so long for your money :(

I think those ticket machines at train stations were supposed to save money as they didn't need staff, but really they are often not working in the smaller local stations like where we lived before. The one in Stafford has several and lots of staff too.

The café does look odd doesn't it? sorry about the smell - it's not for long.....

Joan wee Yorkie will be home today hopefully still recovering feeling below her waist. My car did just fine and came back CLEANED!!!

    Morning to everyone else!!

    Love

    Toni xxx

Ps AIDAN!!!!!!!!! Have you spotted your Birthday thread????

Well, I feel really old now. Bearing in mind I'm 65. :? Thanks to my lovely therapist Marita, I have a second banister, a toilet frame, a bed support, and a grab rail outside the front door, and a home eye test which might lead to eye surgery. I feel about 87.

Aidan, I do hope you have a good day. Because of my religion (JW) I don't celebrate birthdays and Xmas.

Thanks Toni, I loved the pictures and thought, perfect, for Mig's potion and spells evening.
Yes, the Toady thread was most helpful, you learn something every day.
Pepe is far too delicate for entrails, even with Diddicats help, he would be useless, completely. lol.
It is very wicked that our new car is under wraps and we cannot have it for another week and a bit. I have been checking the long range forecast, we DO NOT want rain and muck on the roads on the 7th, so we might have to cast a clear weather spell on Halloween as well.
/Glad yours is back and all pristine and clean - I used to love cleaning cars, mine were always gleaming - now, it is just a memory and I can just about flick a duster. OH doesn't mind and I try and help.
I do know about the transfusions, but I will explain later, all I remember doing so many times where lots of observations, BP, temp etc, as sudden onset fever can happen (don't panic anyone, it is not common).

It is indeed like the darkest dungeon in here now Christine. I can barely see a hand in front of my face, I think we need some spooky candles, just to stop us all going flying. We have had enough falls recently.

Finally, I managed to get my money back on the trousers. What a fuss. The man who owns the shop and many other shops nearby, is worth a fortune. Over the years I have spent a small fortune in there as well.
The lady we know said in a whisper "get your money back" - while he was trying to offer replacements.
No, I want my money back. Oh it will have to be a cheque he has no cash, well, that is like saying the Pope cannot remember Mass. No, I paid cash, so cash will be fine THANK YOU. Anyway, the cash suddenly appeared. I smiled, said thank you and we left. I will not be in a rush back, that's for sure. Huh.
Bloods, well, you can squeeze them in, but that is in cases of major trauma, where it is a life and death situation. Otherwise the run in quite slowly.
I hope you have your wages sorted, cheques are ok but they take for ever to clear, which is ridiculous. In France cheques are cashed and cleared the same day.
The roads are very busy and it is quite normal to worry, when loved ones are out and about on their bikes. I would be just the same.

No, I had not spotted my Birthday thread, I didn't realise there was one Toni, thank you SO much for putting one on for me, in my tender years, lol.

Kath, you certainly will be well stocked up with aids and adaptations. Rightly so too. No, you are not 87, I know we all feel about 110 sometimes. Thank you for your kind wishes. I totally respect your religion. My late Dad was a Vicar (C of E) and he used to have some JW who came regularly to have a chat with him, Dad would start off with some theological statement and they would all have a great natter. Mother would make T and coffee. Neither side said they were right nor wrong in their chosen religious following. He did love an in depth debate. Bless him.

Mig, have a lovely trip to Bletchley Park, I have seen programmes about it, very interesting. Take care

Hi Barbara, oh dear, computers do cause some trouble - hope it is behaving for you now. They are all designed to send us batty.
Yes, we could all break in the garage and at least look at the car. Only 9 days to go.....................sigh.
You do appreciate the better times with family and work through the difficult and often saddening times. I guess we are quite stoical beings. We had a good time and Mum really enjoyed herself. They are popping in today for a coffee, on their way back from town. We are having a chilling out week end, all being well. Might have to pop out tomorrow as neighbours OH has his Birthday on Sunday, so we need to get a nice card and a little something. It was fab, to get the vouchers for the garden center, as you say, far better than a pair of socks, lol.

Sorry to hear of your loss, thoughts are with you and yours.

You do right, you need sugar, without a doubt, welcome back, lol.

Joan, I hope you are both ok and getting out and about, love to both and pats to the doggies.

Right, it is midnight --that's the start of a very famous song.........I had better move, Pepe is taunting Cookie and being a little so and so.
Everyone have a good week end. (is it me, or is it warm)?

Take lots of care, XXXX Aidan
