Evening to everyone - hope all are as well as can be and keeping warm. It is VERY chilly out there tonight, many minus numbers. :winter-storm:
Toni, I think these bloomers are causing some very strange happenings. They have a mind of their own and will not be tamed. Do you think a boil wash might help. Poor Barbara having to mop with them, they hold a lot of water and must have been hard work.
(if anyone happens upon the forum and reads this, they will think we are bonkers). Oh well, so what.
Your poor Aunt, a rock and a hard place. Maybe the stent first, at a guess. Bless her.
Charlie and Duffy are to marry, after all this time and I missed it. That must have been the longest romance in history. I will have to buy a hat.........
Yes, we are back online and fully telephonically connected. Back up to full speed and not relying on next door. Very grateful to them though. No internet is like unimaginable these days. I will have much more toffee pudding next time, just to make sure my bloods are ok
Hi Joan, hope you are keeping all warm and toasty. our heating is on 20 at the moment. Very frosty out, neighbours car is frozen solid. I guess ours it too, but it is parked at the back. Hi to Sue and to the doggies. Take care if you are out in the frosts.
Did you manage to get your socks on Elizabeth? I see you were in a cross mood and managed to get a lot done. Well done on channeling the energies. Indeed, one door opens after one door closes. I am sure you are doing the best thing with regards respite.
The pics didn't turn out too bad, thank you. I would phone ahead and ask that Sticky Toffee be put on the menu I think Liz E will take a big hit after the bad press and I was shocked, thinking it was still owned by Liz herself.
Enjoy the football.
I saw the same thing Barbara, the magic snow, it was amazing stuff. I am sure we can get some lovely soft faux fur bloomers, we all need them in this weather. Christine will be very grateful, if ever she wanders off course and ends up in another tree, ones modesty must be preserved.
Am so glad that the ageing pus cat was found, poor thing. Just glad ours don't go out, not that they would in this weather, far nicer to be on the back of the sofa, with the radiators on.
Not long now, another day and then we will be off for the car. Cream and Black are the colours. Looking forward to it very much. Christmas never really holds great store for us, we lost his BIL and Sister at Christmas and my Mum at New Year, so to be honest we are glad when it is over with. We do have some little decorations, understated, but tasteful. Cards are a bain of my life, they are always on the floor, the cats knock them flying, I knock them flying...........and writing them. Bah humbug. lol.
Hope the palm is nice and snug. Our plants take their chances and seem to survive, so far.
Pendle Hill is beautiful Christine, even more so in winter, with frosts and snow on the top. :frozen:
I will keep an eye out for the bloomer order. Should be coming recorded broomstick delivery. You won't get any warts on your broomstick licence, don't worry. I had to hand mine back in, so we have a BIG broomstick that I hang on to, while OH does the driving.
I can sympathise with noisy neighbours, from our last house, mind you, they were squatters and were demolishing the place. Hope yours manage to shut up, as soon as.
Kath, I hope you are ok and not in too much pain. Leaving hugs in abundance to one and to all. HI to Mig too
I had better have a potter round, maybe a belgian biscuit, seeing as the tins are at my right shoulder................just the one (biscuit, not a tin)
Keep warm and take lots of care. XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

So cold here.
Going to the Drs with oh this morning ,the drug trial he was taking part in has come to an end so he needs to get a prescription for statins,it was a 5 year trial and we used to go twice a year the trial drug was one that they hope will boost good cholesterol.
Going to meet my sister tomorrow for lunch we always look round to see what offers we can find on our phones we like Zizzis they have a 30% off offer on at the moment.
Aiden what photo loading program do you use ? Im having a bit of trouble with flickr.
Love to everyone wrap up warm if you go out. Mig0 -
Hello all, hope you are all keeping warm. I've got layers on my layers. :winter-storm:
My therapist took me a short walk (about 10 minutes) on my tri-walker, yesterday morning. It was painful, but I didn't go too far, or too fast. But I have been in pain since, and couldn't sleep last
night.
In the afternoon, the optician came. My left eye is too far gone and can't be repaired. My right eye has a small cataract and an astigmatism. It is too early to operate so she will keep check on it. Meanwhile I'm having two pairs of reading glasses, with the left lens of each pair frosted.

A very chilly afternoon to everyone.
We are keeping warm Joan, the heating is on, the fire is on, the dryer is on and my fingers are still cold. See, all summer I am completely roasted and come November, I freeze. My hands crack and peel, as soon as the weather goes cold................cannot win.
The trouble is I cannot stand layers of clothes, I have to wear short sleeved shirts, all year. I cannot wear a jumper or sweatshirt indoors, they just drive me crazy. As for coats, I loathe them. I do wear fleecy ones when we go out, but they are an annoyance. I think I am just odd. :?
Hi Mig, Sounds interesting this drug trial, I assume they will take blood tests etc, to see how the bad and good lipids are doing. I have taken statins for 20 years and more. I hope the trial leads on to new drugs that can help.
Have a nice time with your Sister. Cannot beat a bargain, I love them. Lunch, of course, maybe a cake
We went to pick up my latest find from Te--- click and collect. I wanted some more joggers, found some in sale from £10, down to £5, then I had a £4.50 voucher, so they cost me 50p. They are lovely, perfect size, nice and roomy.
I use photobucket for most pictures, or if the picture is on the net, then you can insert it directly into the Img (at the top of the page). Photobucket is good, if you don't mind adverts popping up every so often.
Kath, you are struggling, sending a bounty of hugs and blessings. You did well with the walking. The tri walkers can take a bit of getting used to. Sorry that you did not sleep. Hope you manage to take a nap in the daytime.
Has your left eye had some damage, that cannot be repaired? I am sure the new reading glasses will help and the shaded lens will take the strain off your left eye. I don't blame you for adding layers, it is that sort of weather at the moment.
Toni, Elizabeth, Barbara and all. Leaving hugs and warming lavender pats. I have not seen the bloomers today, they are keeping a low profile. I suspect they will appear when we least expect them.
New car tomorrow..........................exciting.........................now, we don't want any :snowplow: but it is forecast........... XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Hole in cornea (Sjogren's) 2 years and 7 ops later (3 of which were corneal grafts - all failed). Cataract irrepairable due to failed ops. So left eye too weak for more surgery. Thanks for all the hugs Aidan

I have also put in a claim to my local council today re the fall so will have to see what happens I am awaiting a claim form now I have my fingers crossed that they will help with the new walker.Stay positive always👍xx0 -

Aiden, if anyone thinks we are bonkers, they are right. We are. Your heating is on 20? I have mine on 15 and I need to turn it down after half an hour. A couple of times I've noticed the thermometer at 13 before I started feeling cold. I used to enjoy writing lots of cards all in one night but can only manage 3 at a time now so don't send so many. Someone I know uses an ink stamp with a message and their names on it. The music went on till 11.30 last night. Actually I'm not sure if it stopped then or if I just fell asleep. It started again at teatime tonight but only for half an hour. I use Neutrogena Hand Cream Concentrated when my hands get red and sore. One application and they are back to normal. Wow what a bargain with your joggers. I love a good bargain. Fingers crossed the snow stays away at least until you've picked up your car.
Joan, I don't know how you put up with loud music every night. You must be glad to be away from it now.
Mig, the trial sounds interesting. Did it help with your OH's cholesterol? Enjoy your time with your sister.
Kath, glad you got to walk a bit with your tri-walker but sorry you are in more pain now. It might take a while to get used to it. Sorry to hear about your eyes. I hope it's not to long before they can operate on your right eye and get it right again.
Carol, good to hear you are nearly healed after your fall. Oh you are naughty but you have done so well with your weight loss, I think missing one session is allowed, especially as it is so cold.
Barbara, I don't often hear much from these neighbours. Maybe that's part of the problem, I'm not used to hearing it. It went on till 11.30 last night and started again at teatime tonight but only for half an hour, thank goodness. Mary Ann Cotton lived about 30 miles north of me in Sunderland where I have a friend so it was interesting. Apparently, she wasn't the only woman who killed off her husband for the insurance. I remember you got the bags last year. They are a good idea.
I'm feeling quite proud of myself today. I went to Tesco and while I was there, I stood looking at the ice cream trying to decide which one to get then I decided I didn't actually need it so I walked away. Then I found a gluten free carrot cake which had been knocked down in price. As it was only 30p of £3, I left it. Someone told me they would knock the price down again in a few minutes. When I went back, the lady said she'd put it in the other aisle but again, I decided I didn't need it. When I got home, I had a package from the Blood Transfusion Service. Inside was a certificate, badge and a letter of thanks for giving 50 donations and saving or helping about 100 people. Just noticed the time. I'd better get to bed. It's way past my bedtime. Night night. :autumn-sun:Christine0 -
Hi Carol - good to see you, glad to hear you are mending, following the nasty fall. You do right, sending a claim form into the Council. The very least they can do is arrange for a new walker. Take lots of pictures of where you fell too.
I agree with you Barbara, you do need some comfort food in the cold weather. It won't hurt missing a visit Carol and something like a syrup sponge and custard would be just the treat - well, I fancy that, right now. You are not naughty at all. Anyway, you put your feet up and I will pop the kettle on.
Sjogrens is not good at all Kath, I am sorry to hear that you have had such a trial with your eye and that it is beyond repair. I know when I went to see the Optician last year, he thought I had the same thing, in its early stages...........so I will be mindful and ask the GP for the full tests to be done. You are more than welcome, hugs are always available in the cafe, there is a box of them under the cake tin Just in case no one is in.
I think it will be rain when we pick the car up Barbara, but, I am hoping the skies clear a little. I know it will be cold, so I can play with all the buttons and ventilation, driving OH nuts, especially as he gets used to a new vehicle. Well, I cannot just sit there, I have to press things. lol.
I loved Casualty, never missed, but then it became a bit samey and I just sat there and said, "they are doing that wrong", "nope, that is not how to do a BP" - a bit like a busman's holiday.
We saw those bags as well, do we both like QVC? I think so. We have it on whenever there is no tennis. Talking of which, Andy getting to number one has been a joy to watch, he has worked so hard over the years.
Looking forward to next week and the end of year at the O2 Arena. Would LOVE to go watch, front row of course, in fact we could sit with Kim and Judy
Our heating has just kicked in again Christine, no idea why I freeze from November onwards.
The ink stamp sounds like a great idea, I dread writing them, you feel that you should write a little letter with each one, but I don't think I can manage that this year. I can print one off, that's a good idea, a general end of year summary lol. More creaking, more pains, more problems, apart from that we are fine, merry Christmas,
I am glad the neighbours didn't make as much noise tonight. Strange, when you have not heard them much before.
I tried Neutrogena and I came out in a rash  I have Diprobase from the Drs and some natural skin remedies from the health shop. I just need to stay away from washing and cleaning for a while.........once a nurse, always a nurse.
Good that you didn't succumb to the cake, I would have caved in I just know it. Way to go for getting the congrats for all your blood donations.
Right, I must make sure we have everything for today and its ventures. We must go to Nero's - going to have decaf, think it is less stimulating on the system, if you get my drift. Cakes as well, I don't have to give them up.
I am off, take care all, love to everyone and hi to those who are not in at the moment. Toni, Elizabeth, hugs to all XX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Morning all..raining hard but at least the forecast snow hasn't appeared...Joan you used to knit polo neck jumpers..I take my hat off to you ..I remember well us going to the phone box at the end of the rd..and my friends would ring it and ask people to pass on a message and they did..those were the days..hope you both have a good day..well all 4 of you..
Aiden yes I do like Q*C like you say when there is nothing else on it has been a big help at Christmas in the last few years..and in between come to that.. I get told off for playing with the heating and radio in the car... you enjoy it...treacle sponge...with custard..perfect...oh the bags they are brilliant quality ..double layered and drawstring..has for being bonkers do you remember the cruise that Joan L used to get up..I would talk about it to my niece, and she would start laughing and say I think we had better get you checked out..
Christine glad they turned the music off earlier..what a good idea with the cards why didn't I think of that... :? I just cant grip the pen for long..we dont have a lot of family very few in fact but the whole rd sends cards..you did well staying clear of the icecream..must say since it went cold I have found it easier.. I have noticed more and more gluten free products lately, they must be selling well..hope there is no music tonight ..

Helloooo!! Sorry to have been AWOL had a very busy day today. All is well though
I hope you had a good day out Barbara and it was a lovely place. I was most relieved there was no snow :frozen:
PHEW!!
Not so phew the presidential election.

Joan we used to knit loads and I just finished this week a woolly hat for me. I now have orders from the girls Polo necks were not easy my Mum used to though
I am devastated to hear about your eyes Kath ! HUGE ((())) and just hope from now on they look after them better for you.
Aidan I'm ok I promise I hope you had your decaf? I stick to it after 12 noon.
I haven't watched casualty since my Dad died in 2001, but just started again in time to see Charlie and Duffy get together Awww!!!!!
Of course you have to press every button in the car! How will you know how best to annoy the driver otherwise
Christine I have a stamp with Toni on it and have wanted to use it for years. Can't do it though I feel too guilty.
Well congratulations are in order!
1 avoiding cake and ice-cream Well-done you!
2. Getting such a spectacular award for your blood donations
Love to everyone
Toni xxx
Ps the Church is lit up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Aiden, what a good idea to leave hugs under the cake tin. We all need one now and again. Of course you have to push buttons in the new car. You have to help. I can imagine you watching the hospital programmes checking that everything is being done properly. It must be annoying at times. I think quite a few people print out the same letter to send to everyone so nothing wrong with that.
Joan, I remember when my mum and dad moved 200 miles away and I used to go round the corner once a week to phone them as they had a phone in the house. Not many people did though. Now we can have a phone in every room and a mobile phone.
Barbara, my neighbours all send each other cards. Not as many now as quite a few have moved and the new people don't bother. There are a lot of gluten free things now although T*sco stopped their bread a couple of weeks ago. They had it back yesterday but with a new recipe. The slices are half the size and quite dense. They used to be a good size and light and airy. No, no music tonight. I'm wondering if it was one of the teenage boys who was playing the music and their parents have said enough is enough. Hope you had a good trip out today.
Toni, don't know what the Americans were thinking. I always feel as if I should hand write my cards but I can only do a couple at a time so don't think it'll be long before I use a stamp. It's either that or they don't get a card. How wonderful the church being lit up. How lovely.
There was a tiny layer of snow when I woke up this morning but it had gone by the time I went out. I found a new coffee shop in town - Cupeno just a few doors down from C*sta.. It's almost the same as C*sta but £1 less for the drinks. I noticed C*sta were half empty today. Bargains of the day - 2 summer dresses for £1.99 each and 3 summer tops for 99p each. I bought a girl Elfie for my GD. Also a elf door for him to enter the house and some elf paper and envelopes for him to send letters to Santa to keep him up to date. Tonight when my GD was put to bed, she told daddy that she wished there was someone there who was kind to her. They think it meant she wished there was someone there who would let her stay up late.Christine0 -
Evening to one and all - hope things are ok and everyone is keeping warm.
Well, here she is, looking lovely.
Finally, we have the car and lovely it is too. We were absolutely frozen today. There was a dusting of snow, (plenty on Pendle Hill). The garage was freezing, we were frozen, the car was covered in snow!!! I said "that can be washed off, please and thank you" which they did, straight away. lol. I should cocoa.
We were soon sorted, paperwork done for motability and a quick tour of the car and OH was ready for off.
Of course I have to press buttons, you are quite right Toni (good to see you and glad all is ok). How else would I wind him up, unless I messed about with everything.
Joan the car is called white, but it is really a cream colour, with black style pack, roof, mirrors, wheels, leather etc. It has heated seats and they get really warm, it was lovely - for a while, then I was starting to get a very hot bot. Nice on your lower back.
I used to knit quite a lot when I was working on night duty, I did some lovely cardigans for Mum and jumpers too. I loved it. Now I could not hold a needle, never mind click clack away, with all the different wool colours.
I never mastered cable knitting. One of the nurses I worked with did such complex cable patterns, really impressive. We did look after patients as well, lol.
Glad you like QVC Barbara, it gets a bit annoying at times, some of the presenters have voices like battery acid, but on the whole we enjoy it as background chatter while we are on the computers.
We have bought lots of things over the years, they have always been very good, customer services are excellent and you can often spread the payments which is handy.
I do remember the cruises, I think I had to stay on dry land as I didn't have my sea legs. But I did pop in by helicopter from time to time. LOL
Hope you had a nice trip out, wherever it may have been. I will be thinking of any excuse to go out in the car. OH says it is a real drivers car, fast and responsive, with every bell and whistle to keep me amused.
We will take Mum and Dad into town to the Drs, then go to the garden center for lunch. Mum cut her shin and with her being so poorly they are dressing it at the surgery twice a week, we don't want any ulcers, no Maam.
Best not mention the new President - I think there will be a lot of dust to settle. I am not surprised, but am a little bit wary to be honest. He is a very good business man, but as for President of the greatest super power in the world...........I will reserve judgement.
I stuck to decaf today, in Nero's and I have been ok. The coffee tasted just as good. I might just have one ordinary today, then a decaf. I could not resist a triple choc muffin after my brie and cranberry panini. Well, they were there, looking at me :?
The Church being lit, sounds lovely. You are blessed, being so close
I will keep the supply of hugs well stocked up Christine. As you say, we all need them.
I used to share a house with another nurse, so we really pulled any hospital programme to pieces, lol.
Glad all has gone quiet with next door. it must have been a glitch. We like things nice and quiet, we never hear the neighbours, unless she is shouting us from her front door, to our side door, lol. We are open house to them, they know they are welcome any time and they would call night or day if they had any worries or health issues.
That bread sounds a bit stodgy, with the new recipe. When we had the gluten free, it was very light, almost too light to spread the butter, you had to be very careful.
Oh, a new coffee shop, sounds v nice. Give Costa some competition, which is no bad thing. They are all vying for customers. There are SO many different coffee places, it really is cafe culture at the moment. It was very quiet in Skipton today, no market, with the snowy weather, hardly anyone about, we had Nero's to ourselves at one point, so we chatted to the staff and had a laugh.
Bargain, well done, we all like a bargain. Presents too, you are being organised. I like the "can I stay up later" ploy. lol.
Hi to everyone I have missed, mig, Carol, Elizabeth and all.
George and Hattie are on tonight, the ward is quiet at the moment, but I guess there will be swooning pretty soon. Take care, XXXXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Hello Barbara Toni Christine Aidan and anyone else I missed.

Toni I hope you get to rest today. I hope everyone is getting on alright.
Christine your granddaughter is lovely how old is she. I hope you have a good day.

Good morning Joan it's warm here today and wet, but all is well. I hope with you too?
Aidan! The new car looks lovely! You must both be so chuffed and I am pleased to see your 'reserved space' was there for you too
Even better that OH loves driving it Mum and Dad will get a ride today to the DRs then to the garden centre. I'm sure they won't be complaining either. Heated seats? Just when you first get in maybe?
My Mum scratched her leg when she was poorly and needed careful attention to sort out to prevent ulcers bless her.
Of course you looked after patients as well as knitting! Cable was tricky, but we all did it here avec the support of our late Mum.
Now when I knit I am not able to wear my resting splints which I usually do in the evening and I am definitely aware of the hands because of it.
Do you remember our old moderator Jean123 used to knit so we said anyway
I have a vole in the house to catch :? Not looking forward to that! I have my fishing net ready and suspect I might be removing a dead body really
Will upload Church photo later on.
Christine. Yes payhones. I used to ring my bf on one as my Dad would be clock-watching otherwise
You know it might have been better then. Now your are accessible 24 hours a day :?
Hahaha! your GD is so funny It's not really kind is it letting them stay up late, but they don't realise that do they?
A girl elfie! Elfie door and writing paper! I can't wait to see some of these I hope the girl elfie will be well-behaved.
A bit of competition as regards price of coffee is no bad thing!! For us customers anyway
Love

Morning all blinkin freezing .
Joan Zizzis is an italian restaurant ,I go with my sister every 4/5 weeks we get an offer on our phones so we save 1/3 off our bill.Hope you and Sue are keeping warm.

Well I must get the hoover out got a friend coming round for coffee. Mig0 -

I did read about liz E---- and the recall ont he cleanse and polish. I didn't know that the company had been sold in 2010, to Avon, who then sold it to Boots..........they don't mention that on Q_C people are saying that the formulation has changed and people are complaining about reactions to it...................oh dear.[/quote]
I didn't know that either Aidan. I'll have to have a read up on that. I still use it because it does a good job on my face and haven't noticed any changes.

We now have our heating on but I'm told the warmer weather is on its way so will turn it down/off now.
Its horrible to read about your eyes Kath, I'm sorry.
Well I'd say the car looked white in the photo Aidan. We love our new car too, much better than the old vauxhall we had.
I see you had snow Applerose but it didn't stay around.
Bags are so much easier for xmas pressies Barbara and they can still look just as lovely. It really saved a lot of hassle for the previous couple of years that I've been using them.
OH was extra nice to me the next day
Toni my Mum had terrible ulcers on her legs which never seemed to heal. It has made me extra careful about looking after mine. When I used the home phone for ringing my bf I had to put money in the box to cover the calls, under the watchful eye of my Dad. OH had a payphone when I met him as the lodgers used to rack up bills but we caught them using his own unlocked phone (kept in his bedroom) a couple of times  They used to pretend it was a wrong number.
Joan yellow lines are okay if using a blue badge I think. OH did this a couple of times-I hated it and always worried.
Okay I think I'll post as I should be doing other stuff. We've been to the hospital for Lucy this morning so only just got home.
